On Vector Implicit Variational Inequalities and Complementarity Problems

In this paper, two vector implicit variational inequalities and three vector implicit complementarity problems are introduced with a more general order in ordered Banach spaces and the equivalence between them is studied under certain assumptions. Furthermore, some existence theorems of the vector implicit variational inequalities are proved. We answered the open question proposed by Rapcsák [Nonconvex Optim., Appl., Vol. 38, Kluwer Acad. Publ., Dordrecht, 2000, pp. 371–380]. Vector optimization problems with nonconvex preferences

In this paper, some vector optimization problems are considered where pseudo-ordering relations are determined by nonconvex cones in Banach spaces. We give some characterizations of solution sets for vector complementarity problems and vector variational inequalities. When the nonconvex cone is the union of some convex cones, it is shown that the solution set of these problems is either an intersection or an union of the solution sets of all subproblems corresponding to each of these convex cones depending on whether these problems are defined by the nonconvex cone itself or its complement. Moreover, some relations of vector complementarity problems, vector variational inequalities, and minimal element problems are also given. While this paper was being revised in September 2006, Professor Alex Rubinov (the second author of the paper) left us due to the illness. This is a very sad news to us. We dedicate this paper to the memory of Professor Rubinov as a mathematician and truly friend.     

Exceptional family of elements for general order complementarity problems

The notion of exceptional family of elements for general order complementarity problems in Banach spaces will be introduced. It will be shown that for general order complementarity problems defined by completely continuous fields the problem has either a solution or an exceptional family of elements. Finite dimensional examples and an application to integral operators will be given.     

Vector complementarity and minimal element problems

In this paper, vector complementarity problems are introduced as weak versions of vector variational inequalities in ordered Banach spaces. New dual cones are introduced and proved to be closed. In the sense of efficient point, we prove that the minimal element problem is solvable if a vector variational inequality is solvable; we also prove that any solution of a strong vector variational inequality or positive vector complementarity problem is a solution of the minimal element problem.This work was done while the author was with the Chongqing Institute of Architecture and Engineering, Chongqing, P. Simultaneous Vector Variational Inequalities and Vector Implicit Complementarity Problem

The concepts of monotone pair of mappings and vector implicit complementarity problem (VICP) in ordered Banach spaces are introduced. Existence theorems for simultaneous vector variational inequalities (VVI) and VICP are proved.

Extragradient methods for differential variational inequality problems and linear complementarity systems

In this paper, 2 extragradient methods for solving differential variational inequality (DVI) problems are presented, and the convergence conditions are derived. It is shown that the presented extragradient methods have weaker convergence conditions in comparison with the basic fixed‐point algorithm for solving DVIs. Then the linear complementarity systems, as an important and practical special case of DVIs, are considered, and the convergence conditions of the presented extragradient methods are adapted for them. In addition, an upper bound for the Lipschitz constant of linear complementarity systems is introduced. This upper bound can be used for adjusting the parameters of the extragradient methods, to accelerate the convergence speed. Finally, 4 illustrative examples are considered to support the theoretical results.     

A coradiant based scalarization to characterize approximate solutions of vector optimization problems with variable ordering structures

This paper investigates some properties of approximate efficiency in variable ordering structures where the variable ordering structure is given by a special set valued map. We characterize $\epsilon$-minimal and $\epsilon$- nondominated elements as approximate solutions of a multiobjective optimization problem with a variable ordering structure and give necessary and sufficient conditions for these solutions, via scalarization.     

Pseudo-monotone complementarity problems in Hilbert space

In this paper, some existence results for a nonlinear complementarity problem involving a pseudo-monotone mapping over an arbitrary closed convex cone in a real Hilbert space are established. In particular, some known existence results for a nonlinear complementarity problem in a finite-dimensional Hilbert space are generalized to an infinite-dimensional real Hilbert space. Applications to a class of nonlinear complementarity problems and the study of the post-critical equilibrium state of a thin elastic plate subjected to unilateral conditions are given.This research was partially supported by the National Science Foundation Grant DMS-89-13089, Department of Energy Grant DE-FG03-87-ER-25028, and Office of Naval Research Grant N00014-89-J-1659. The system of generalized vector equilibrium problems with applications

In this paper, we introduce the system of generalized vector equilibrium problems which includes as special cases the system of generalized implicit vector variational inequality problems, the system of generalized vector variational and variational-like inequality problems and the system of vector equilibrium problems. By using a maximal element theorem, we establish existence results for a solution of these systems. As an application, we derive existence results for a solution of a more general Nash equilibrium problem for vector-valued functions.     

Lexicographic variational inequalities with applications

In this article, we consider equivalence properties between various kinds of lexicographic variational inequalities. By employing various concepts of monotonicity, we show that the usual sequential variational inequality is equivalent to the direct lexicographic variational inequality or to the dual lexicographic variational inequality. We establish several existence results for lexicographic variational inequalities. Also, we introduce the lexicographic complementarity problem and establish its equivalence with the lexicographic variational inequality. We illustrate our approach by several examples of applications to vector transportation and vector spatial equilibrium problems.     

伪单调型向量F-互补问题可行集的最小元问题

本文引入了几类向量F-互补问题并给出了向量F-互补问题与广义向量变分不等式之间的关系.通过定义向量F-互补问题的可行集,研究了伪单调型向量F-互补问题的可行集的最小问题,推广了已有的一些结果.     

向量变分和向量拟变分不等式解的存在性定理及应用

本文利用纯量化方法及ＫＫＭ技巧,研究向量变分和向量拟变分不等式解的存在性问题,作为应用本文还研究了向量互补问题及最优化问题解的存在性及其等价性刻划。本文结果改进和推广了已有的结果。     

Monotone generalized variational inequalities and generalized complementarity problems

Some existence results for generalized variational inequalities and generalized complementarity problems involving quasimonotone and pseudomonotone set-valued mappings in reflexive Banach spaces are proved. In particular, some known results for nonlinear variational inequalities and complementarity problems in finite-dimensional and infinite-dimensional Hilbert spaces are generalized to quasimonotone and pseudomonotone set-valued mappings and reflexive Banach spaces. Application to a class of generalized nonlinear complementarity problems studied as mathematical models for mechanical problems is given.The research of the first author was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of P. A comparison of solvers for linear complementarity problems arising from large-scale masonry structures

We compare the numerical performance of several methods for solving the discrete contact problem arising from the finite element discretisation of elastic systems with numerous contact points. The problem is formulated as a variational inequality and discretised using piecewise quadratic finite elements on a triangulation of the domain. At the discrete level, the variational inequality is reformulated as a classical linear complementarity system. We compare several state-of-art algorithms that have been advocated for such problems. Computational tests illustrate the use of these methods for a large collection of elastic bodies, such as a simplified bidimensional wall made of bricks or stone blocks, deformed under volume and surface forces. Characterization of the Cone and Applications in Banach Spaces

Abstract

In this article, we first discuss the subduality and orthogonality of the cones and the dual cones when the norm is monotone in Banach spaces. Then, under different assumptions, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the ordering increasing property of the metric projection onto cones and order intervals are studied. Moreover, representations of the metric projection onto cones and order intervals are obtained. As applications, the solvability and approximation results of solutions to nonlinear discontinuous variational inequality and complementarity problems are proved by partial ordering methods.     

An algorithm for a class of nonlinear complementarity problems with non-Lipschitzian functions

In this paper, we focus on solving a class of nonlinear complementarity problems with non-Lipschitzian functions. We first introduce a generalized class of smoothing functions for the plus function. By combining it with Robinson's normal equation, we reformulate the complementarity problem as a family of parameterized smoothing equations. Then, a smoothing Newton method combined with a new nonmonotone line search scheme is employed to compute a solution of the smoothing equations. The global and local superlinear convergence of the proposed method is proved under mild assumptions. Preliminary numerical results obtained applying the proposed approach to nonlinear complementarity problems arising in free boundary problems are reported. They show that the smoothing function and the nonmonotone line search scheme proposed in this paper are effective.     

A new method for a class of linear variational inequalities

In this paper we introduce a new iterative scheme for the numerical solution of a class of linear variational inequalities. Each iteration of the method consists essentially only of a projection to a closed convex set and two matrix-vector multiplications. Both the method and the convergence proof are very simple.This work is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of the P.R. China and NSF of Jiangsu.
