In this paper,we introduce a horizontal slot in the reversed-rib chalcogenide glass waveguide to tailor its dispersion characteristics.The waveguide exhibits a flat and low dispersion over a wavelength range of 1080 nm,in which the dispersion fluctuates between-10.6 ps·nm~(-1)·km~(-1) and +11.14 ps·nm~(-1)·km~(-1).The dispersion tailoring effect is due to the mode field transfer from the reversed-rib waveguide to the slot with the increase of wavelength,which results in the extension of the low dispersion band.Moreover,the nonlinear coefficient and the phase-matching condition of the fourwave mixing process in this waveguide are studied,showing that the waveguide has great potential in nonlinear optical applications over a wide wavelength range. 相似文献

Saturable optical resonators with distributed Bragg reflectors are analyzed by using the mode coupling theory. Hysteresis and nonlinear characteristics are given as a function of the absorption coefficient, the length of the absorber region, and the coupling coefficient of the corrugated waveguide. The calculated results show that the saturable optical resonator is useful as an optical gate, optical amplifier, and optical memory in integrated optical circuits. 相似文献

We revisit the problem of the optimization of a silicon-nanocrystal (Si-NC) waveguide, aiming to attain the maximum field confinement inside its nonlinear core and to ensure optimal waveguide performance for a given mode power. Using a Si-NC/SiO2 slot waveguide as an example, we show that the common definition of the effective mode area may lead to significant errors in estimation of optical intensity governing the nonlinear optical response and, as a result, to poor strength evaluation of the associated nonlinear effects. A simple and physically meaningful definition of the effective mode area is given to relate the total mode power to the average field intensity inside the nonlinear region and is employed to study the optimal parameters of Si-NC slot waveguides. 相似文献

利用非线性效应的全矢量模型和狭缝波导的有限元模场求解法,系统地研究了狭缝波导结构和包层材料对其非线性和功率限制特性的影响.研究结果表明,狭缝波导的硅臂宽度、狭缝宽度、硅层高度和包层材料均影响其非线性和功率限制特性.对于空气包层狭缝波导,不同结构参数下的最高功率限制因子对应的非线性系数均高于20 W^-1·m^-1,而最低非线性系数6.5 W^-1·m^-1均出现在模式截止附近,泄露损耗较大,功率限制较弱,故空气包层狭缝波导无法同时实现低非线性和高功率限制;如果在狭缝波导上包覆二氧化硅,则可以同时获得低非线性和高功率限制,非线性系数可低至4.12 W^-1·m^-1,同时功率限制因子可达42%. 相似文献

理论分析了介质镀膜空芯光纤在THz频段的传输特性,得出了该光纤的特征方程及模式分布。利用射线光学原理计算了介质膜材料为聚酰亚胺、介质膜厚度为0.05 mm的光纤的衰减常数随介质膜内直径的变化情况。得出其主模在THz频段的衰减常数小于1 dB/m,该值远小于相同内径的金属圆波导在这一频段的衰减常数。模拟计算了介质膜厚度为0.05 mm、内径为1 mm,金属膜内径为1.05 mm的介质镀膜空芯光纤在0~1 THz的S参数,模拟结果显示该光纤在THz频段有很宽的通带,且在通带内衰减常数小于0.5 dB/m,可用于THz频段电磁波远距离传输。 相似文献

We theoretically studied a nonlinear optical process in a hybrid plasmonic waveguide composed of a nonlinear dielectric waveguide and a metal film with a separation of a thin air gap. Owing to the hybridization effect of guided mode and surface plasmon polariton mode, this particular waveguide is able to confine the optical-field in a deep subwavelength scale together with low propagation loss. Based on this, efficient second-harmonic generations (SHG) were revealed at the fundamental wavelength of λ=1.55?μm with good field confinement. The SHG efficiency, as well as the coupling coefficient and mode area, were analyzed and discussed in detail with respect to the structural parameters. 相似文献

Modelling of finite-size grating waveguide filters on the basis of a free-space diffraction approach
The field reflection coefficient R of a high strength and short length waveguide grating section is obtained by resorting to a free-space diffraction approach whereby the waveguide grating is excited by means of a virtual high index prism. The effective index of the guided mode, the coupling coefficient between contradirectionally propagating modes of the grating waveguide as well as the modal field are first obtained in the case of an infinite grating by interpreting the results given by an exact diffraction solution by means of a three-wave coupled mode formalism. These results are then introduced in the coupled wave analysis of the structure of finite extent to provide the field at the entrance of the waveguide grating section where the usual overlap integral with the incident field delivers the reflection coefficient. We neglect only the result of radiation mode propagation. This assumption can be made when the grating section is longer than the propagating length of all the leaky modes. 相似文献

非线性波导是一种重要的光量子器件。采用马卡梯里近似,可以近似描述波导的模场分布特征。针对ee-e准相位匹配的周期极化铌酸锂波导,分析波长为1 064 nm的基波和532 nm的二次谐波的基模模场分布。结果表明:如果波导为嵌入型正方形波导,基波和二次谐波的光斑基本为圆形,基波场分布范围较大;在截面正方形边长为5 μm并且芯区比包层折射率略高0.02时,波导就能将两种光波场基本约束在芯区中,但是这种波导边长为0.5 μm时约束能力就变得很差;如果采用芯区与包层折射率差别较大的波导,芯区边长为0.5 μm就可以将两种场分布基本约束在芯区中。结果对分析其他类型的非线性波导的模场分布具有指导意义。 相似文献

利用正余弦拟合的方法和半径渐变波导的耦合波理论设计出一种Ka波段TE01模回旋行波管新型输出渐变段。通过Matlab数值计算和HFSS仿真优化,研究了该新型渐变段的反射系数、传输参数、模式纯度、对杂模的耦合等性能指标。计算结果表明:在长度为80 mm、口径由14 mm变化到32 mm的情况下,在30~33 GHz该新型渐变段的传输参数大于-0.000 52 dB,反射参数小于-65 dB,模式纯度大于0.995,对TE02模和TE03模耦合在-40 dB以下。在等长度和等口径下,与Dolph-Chebyshev渐变段进行比较,结果显示在30~33 GHz内,新型渐变段比其传输参数更好、反射参数更小、模式纯度更高等。测试样品的冷测实验结果为在28~35 GHz范围内,其反射参数小于-30 dB,传输参数大于-0.3 dB。 相似文献

We discuss design issues of devices which were proposed recently [Opt. Lett. 37 (2012) 3903] for terahertz (THz) control of the propagation of an optical waveguide mode. The mode propagates through a nonlinear dielectric material placed in a metallic nanoslit illuminated by THz radiation. The THz field in the slit is strongly localized and thus significantly enhanced, facilitating nonlinear interactions with the dielectric waveguide material. This enhancement can lead to notable changes in the refractive index of the waveguide. The closer the waveguide is to the slit walls, the higher the nonlinear effects are, but with the cost of increasing propagation losses due to parasitic coupling to surface plasmon polaritons at the metal interfaces. We analyze several optical waveguide configurations and define a figure of merit that allows us to design the optimal configuration. We find that designs with less overlap of the THz and optical fields but also with lower losses are better than designs where both these parameters are higher. The estimated terahertz field incident onto the metallic nanoslit required to manipulate the waveguide mode has reasonable values which can be achieved in practice. 相似文献

从麦克斯韦方程组出发,结合电磁场的边界条件,推导出介质矩形波导导模的一般色散方程.对普通介质矩形波导和左手介质矩形波导的导模场分布分别进行了数值模拟.通过对比两种介质矩形波导的导模场分布的模拟结果,发现左手介质矩形波导Ex22模的场分布比普通介质波导Ex00模的场更集中在波导中部.同时,根据处理普通介质矩形波导的Marcatili方法.类比得到左手介质矩形波导表面模的色散方程,并数值模拟了低阶模的场分布,结果表明,能量主要集中在波导的四个角区以及波导的边缘. 相似文献

建立了由损耗段和铜段组成的波导结构的Ka波段二次谐波回旋行波放大器理论模型,并进行了非线性理论研究。基于稳定性分析,确定35 GHz TE02模二次谐波回旋行波放大器的基本工作参数:波导半径为1.02 cm,电子注工作电压为90 kV,工作电流为25 A,工作磁场为0.642 6 T,横纵速度比为1.2;然后通过模拟详细分析了工作电流、波导损耗和速度零散等因素对该放大器性能的影响。研究表明:在该结构中损耗段可以有效地抑制模式竞争从而提高输出功率和带宽;工作电流对输出功率的影响存在最大值;速度零散对输出功率有很大的影响。 相似文献

在二阶微扰近似条件下, 采用导波模式展开分析方法研究了圆管结构中周向导波的非线性效应. 伴随基频周向导波传播所发生的二次谐波, 可视为由一系列二倍频周向导波模式叠加而成. 从动量定理出发, 结合柱坐标系下非线性应力张量及其散度的数学表达式, 针对圆管中某一基频周向导波模式, 推导出相应的二倍频应力张量及二倍频彻体驱动力的数学表达式, 建立了确定二倍频周向导波模式展开系数的控制方程, 得到了伴随基频周向导波传播所发生的二次谐波声场的形式解. 理论分析和数值计算表明, 当构成二次谐波声场的某一二倍频周向导波模式与基频周向导波的相速度匹配时, 该二倍频周向导波模式的位移振幅表现出随传播周向角积累增长的性质; 当两者的相速度失配时, 二倍频周向导波的振幅随传播周向角表现出“拍”效应. 相似文献

A theoretical investigation of field components for transverse electric mode in the parallel-plate waveguides has been studied. In this analysis two different types of waveguide structures have been discussed, i.e., (a) normal good/perfect conducting parallel-plate waveguide filled with nonlinear left-handed material and (b) high-temperature-superconducting parallel-plate waveguide filled with nonlinear left-handed material. We propose the inclusion of a structured pattern of nanoscale metal wires in a silica fiber to form a symmetric plasmonic waveguide. The surface plasmon polariton modes within the waveguide are studied by varying the wire diameter and spacing. Simulation results show that hybridization of the single-wire mode and the gap plasmon mode can yield a hybrid mode with optimum propagation lengths comparable to those reported for other structures but with better light confinement. The fiber can be easily doped with a gain material to offset the loss so that the resultant waveguide will be useful for integration with electronic circuits at nanometer dimensions. 相似文献
