Spinel Li4Ti5O12 thin films are important for the fabrication of rechargeable lithium microbatteries. Porous thin films of Li4Ti5O12 were prepared by electrostatic spray deposition (ESD) technique with lithium acetate and titanium butoxide as the precursors. The structures of these films were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Coin-type cells with a liquid electrolyte were made with the Li4Ti5O12 films against metallic lithium. Their electrochemical performance was investigated by means of galvanostatic cell cycling, cyclic voltammetry and Ac impedance spectroscopy. It was found that pure spinel phase of Li4Ti5O12 was obtained. After annealing at the optimal temperature of 700 °C, the films can deliver a reversible specific capacity of about 150 mAh/g with excellent capacity retention after 70 cycles. Their electrochemical characteristics were quite comparable with those of the Li4Ti5O12 laminate electrodes containing carbon black additive.  相似文献

In this work we have reported the electrochemical lithiation properties of ramsdellite Li2.28Ti3.43O8, and two new iron-doped ramsdellite phases of compositions Li2.624Ti3.088Fe0.343O8 and Li2.28Ti3.153Fe0.31O7.9. In the two iron-doped samples, charge balance is maintained by excess lithium and by oxygen vacancies respectively. The use of neutron diffraction and 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy is of high interest for studying effect of lithium or vacancies located in the channels of the ramsdellite-type structure. In the case of iron-doped ramsdellite-type phases, all the iron ions are located on octahedral sites and the quadrupole spittings are related to the number of lithium in the neighbourhood of probed atoms. The presence of iron limits the reversible capacity due to the decrease of lithium mobilily through the channels of the ramsdellite-type structure.  相似文献

Spinel Li4Ti5O12 nanoparticles were prepared via a high-temperature solid-state reaction by adding the prepared cellulose to an aqueous dispersion of lithium salts and titanium dioxide. The precursors of Li4Ti5O12 were characterized by thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry. The obtained Li4Ti5O12 nanoparticles were characterized using X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electrochemical measurements. The TEM revealed that the Li4Ti5O12 prepared with cellulose is composed of nanoparticles with an average particle diameter of 20–30 nm. Galvanostatic battery testing showed that nano-sized Li4Ti5O12 exhibit better electrochemical properties than submicro-sized Li4Ti5O12 do especially at high current rates, which can deliver a reversible discharge capacity of 131 mAh g−1 at the rate of 10 C, whereas that of the submicro-sized sample decreases to 25 mAh g−1 at the same rate (10 C). Its reversible capacity is maintained at ~172.2 mAh g−1 with the voltage range 1.0–3.0 V (vs. Li) at the current rate of 0.5 C for over 80 cycles.  相似文献

The spinel structure of lithium titanate Li4Ti5O12 is refined by the Rietveld full-profile analysis with the use of x-ray and neutron powder diffraction data. The distribution and coordinates of atoms are determined. The Li4Ti5O12 compound is studied at high temperatures by differential scanning calorimetry and Raman spectroscopy. The electrical conductivity is measured in the high-temperature range. It is shown that the Li4Ti5O12 compound with a spinel structure undergoes two successive order-disorder phase transitions due to different distributions of lithium atoms and cation vacancies (□, V) in a defect structure of the NaCl type: (Li)8a[Li0.33Ti1.67]16dO4 → [Li□]16c[Li1.33Ti1.67]16dO4 → [Li1.330.67]16c[Ti1.670.33]16dO4. The low-temperature diffusion of lithium predominantly occurs either through the mechanism ... → Li(8a) → V(16c) → V(8a) → ... in the spinel phase or through the mechanism ... → Li(16c) → V(8a) → V(16c) → ... in an intermediate phase. In the high-temperature phase, the lithium cations also migrate over 48f vacancies: ... Li(16c) → V(8a, 48f) → V(16c) → ....  相似文献

One-dimensional Co2+-doped Li4Ti5O12 nanofibers with a diameter of approximately 500 nm have been synthesized via a one-step controllable electrospinning method. The Co2+-doped Li4Ti5O12 nanofibers were systematically characterized by XRD, ICP, TEM, SEM, BET, EDS mapping, and XPS. Based on the cubic spinel structure and one-dimensional effect of Li4Ti5O12, Co2+-doped Li4Ti5O12 nanofibers exhibit the enlarged lattice volume, reduced particle size and enhanced electrical conductivity. More importantly, Co2+-doped Li4Ti5O12 nanofibers as a lithium ion battery anode electrode performs superior electrochemical performance than undoped Li4Ti5O12 electrode in terms of electrochemical measurements. Particularly, the reversible capacity of Co2+-doped Li4Ti5O12 electrode reaches up to 140.1 mAh g?1 and still maintains 136.5 mAh g?1 after 200 cycles at a current rate of 5 C. Therefore, one-dimensional Co2+-doped Li4Ti5O12 nanofiber electrodes, showing high reversible capacity and remarkable recycling property, could be a potential candidate as an anode material.  相似文献

The influence of post-calcination treatment on spinel Li4Ti5O12 anode material is extensively studied combining with a ball-milling-assisted rheological phase reaction method. The post-calcinated Li4Ti5O12 shows a well distribution with expanded gaps between particles, which are beneficial for lithium ion mobility. Electrochemical results exhibit that the post-calcinated Li4Ti5O12 delivers an improved specific capacity and rate capability. A high discharge capacity of 172.9 mAh g?1 and a reversible charge capacity of 171.1 mAh g?1 can be achieved at 1 C rate, which are very close to its theoretical capacity (175 mAh g?1). Even at the rate of 20 C, the post-calcinated Li4Ti5O12 still delivers a quite high charge capacity of 124.5 mAh g?1 after 50 cycles, which is much improved over that (43.9 mAh g?1) of the pure Li4Ti5O12 without post-calcination treatment. This excellent electrochemical performance should be ascribed to the post-calcination process, which can greatly improve the lithium ion diffusion coefficient and further enhance the electrochemical kinetics significantly.  相似文献

Carbon-coated layered Li1.20Ti0.44Cr0.36O2/C and pristine Li1.20Ti0.44Cr0.36O2 cathode materials have been synthesized through a sol–gel method followed by high-temperature calcination. Their electrochemical performances have been evaluated, which indicate that the Li1.20Ti0.44Cr0.36O2/C exhibits much higher cyclic stability and capacity than the pristine one. The initial delithiation capacity of the Li1.20Ti0.44Cr0.36O2/C can reach 217.1 mAh g?1. The reversible capacity retention is 94 % after 100 cycles at current density of 23 mA g?1. Ex situ X-ray diffraction and electrochemistry impedance spectroscopy coupled with impedance fitting have been employed to reveal evolution of the crystal structure and the electrochemical kinetics of the Li1.20Ti0.44Cr0.36O2/C with delithiation/lithiation cycling. The results indicate that the cation layers of the Li1.20Ti0.44Cr0.36O2/C experience order to disorder transition. The abrupt delithiation capacity fading and potential drop after the initial cycle are resulted from the order to disorder transition accompanying with steep increase of the charge transfer resistance and decrease of the exchange current density and the Li-ion diffusion coefficient simultaneously.  相似文献

This is the first time that a novel anode material, spinel Li4Ti5O12 which is well known as a “zero-strain” anode material for lithium storage, has been introduced for sodium-ion battery. The Li4Ti5O12 shows an average Na storage voltage of about 1.0 V and a reversible capacity of about 145 mAh/g, thereby making it a promising anode for sodium-ion battery. Ex-situ X-ray diffraction (XRD) is used to investigate the structure change in the Na insertion/deinsertion process. Based on this, a possible Na storage mechanism is proposed.  相似文献

Hole-rich Li4Ti5O12 composites are synthesized by spray drying using carbon nanotubes as additives in precursor solution, subsequently followed calcinated at high temperature in air. The structure, morphology, and texture of the as-prepared composites are characterized with XRD, Raman, BET and SEM techniques. The electrochemical properties of the as-prepared composites are investigated systematically by charge/discharge testing, cyclic voltammograms and AC impedance spectroscopy, respectively. In comparison with the pristine Li4Ti5O12, the hole-rich Li4Ti5O12 induced by carbon nanotubes exhibits superior electrochemical performance, especially at high rates. The obtained excellent electrochemical performances of should be attributed to the hole-rich structure of the materials, which offers more connection-area with the electrolyte, shorter diffusion-path length as well faster migration rate for both Li ions and electrons during the charge/discharge process.  相似文献

Chemical and electrochemical studies have shown that various titanium oxides can incorporate lithium in different ratios. Other compounds with a spinel-type structure and corresponding to the spinel oxides LiTi2O4 and Li4Ti5O12 have been evaluated in rechargeable lithium cells with promising features. The spinel Li[Li1/3Ti5/3]O4 [1–5] compound is a very appealing electrode material for lithium ion batteries. The lithium insertion-deinsertion process occurs with a minimal variation of the cubic unit cell and this assures high stability which may reflect into long cyclability. In addition, the diffusion coefficient of lithium is of the order of 10−8 cm2s−1 [5] and this suggests fast kinetics which may reflect in high power capabilities. In this work we report a study on the kinetics and the structural properties of the Li[Li1/3Ti5/3]O4 intercalation electrode carried out by: cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic cycling and in-situ X-ray diffraction. The electrochemical characterization shows that the Li[Li1/3Ti5/3]O4 electrode cycles around 1.56 V vs. Li with a capacity of the order of 130 mAhg−1 which approaches the maximum value of 175 mAhg−1 corresponding to the insertion of 1 equivalent per formula unit. The delivered capacity remains constant for hundred cycles confirming the stability of the host structure upon the repeated Li insertion-deinsertion process. This high structural stability has been confirmed by in situ Energy Dispersion X-ray analysis. In order to improve the rate capability of Li4Ti5O12, Ti4O7 powder was successfully fabricated by improved hydrogen reduction method, then a dual-phase composite Li4Ti5O12/Ti4O7 has been synthesized as anode material for lithium-ion batteries. It is found that the Li4Ti5O12/Ti4O7 composite shows higher reversible capacity and better rate capability compared to Li4Ti5O12. According to the charge-discharge tests, the Li4Ti5O12/Ti4O7 composite exhibits excellent rate capability of 172.3 mAh g?1 at 0.2 C, which is close to the theoretical value of the spinel Li4Ti5O12. More impressively, the reversible capacity of Li4Ti5O12/Ti4O7 composite is 103.1 mAh g?1 at the current density of 20 C after 100th cycles, and it maintains 84.8% of the initial discharge capacity, whereas that of the bare spinel Li4Ti5O12 is only 22.3 mAh g?1 with a capacity retention of 31.1%. The results indicate that Li4Ti5O12/Ti4O7 composite could be a promising anode material with relative high capacity and good rate capability for lithium-ion batteries.  相似文献

Spinel Li4Ti5O12 coated by highly dispersed nanosized Ag particles was synthesized via a facile and effective ultrasonic-assisted method in this paper. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results indicated that Ag was not doped into the lattice of spinel Li4Ti5O12. The as-synthesized Li4Ti5O12/Ag exhibited enhanced electronic conductivity and excellent electrochemical performances. Its electronic conductivity was increased about four times compared to that of the pristine Li4Ti5O12. Even at 10 C rate, the as-synthesized Li4Ti5O12/Ag could keep 86.5 % of the reversible capacity at 1 C rate and its reversible capacity was higher than 140 mAhg?1 whereas those were 75.3 % and 118 mAhg?1 for the pristine Li4Ti5O12.  相似文献

A new Li4Ti5O12–SnO2 composite anode material for lithium-ion batteries has been prepared by loading SnO2 on Li4Ti5O12 to obtain composite material with improved electrochemical performance relative to Li4Ti5O12 and SnO2. The composite material was characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The results indicated that SnO2 particles have encapsulated on the surface of the Li4Ti5O12 uniformly and tightly. Electrochemical results indicated that the Li4Ti5O12–SnO2 composite material increases the reversible capacity of Li4Ti5O12 and has good cycling reliability. At a current rate of 0.5 mA/cm2, the material delivered a discharge capacity of 236 mAh/g after 16 cycles. It suggests the existence of synergistic interaction between Li4Ti5O12 and SnO2 and that the capacity of the composite is not a simple weighted sum of the capacities of the individual components. In the composite material, SnO2 can act as a bridge between the spinel particles to reduce the interparticle resistance and as a good material for the Li intercalation/deintercalation. Thus, electrochemical performance of the Li4Ti5O12 spinel can be improved by the surface modification with SnO2, and the stability of Li4Ti5O12 also serves to buffer the internal stress caused by the volume changes in lithium insertion and extraction reactions.  相似文献

S/Li4Ti5O12 cathode with high lithium ionic conductivity was prepared for Li-S battery. Herein, nano Li4Ti5O12 is used as sulfur host and fast Li+ conductor, which can adsorb effectively polysulfides and improve remarkably Li+ diffusion coefficient in sulfur cathode. At 0.5 C, S/Li4Ti5O12 cathode has a stable discharge capacity of 616 mAh g?1 at the 700th cycle and a capacity loss per cycle of 0.0196% from the second to the 700th cycle, but the corresponding values of S/C cathode are 437 mAh g?1 and 0.0598%. Even at 2 C, the capacity loss per cycle of S/Li4Ti5O12 cathode is only 0.0273% from the second to the 700th cycle. The results indicate that Li4Ti5O12 as the sulfur host plays a key role on the high performance of Li-S battery due to reducing the shuttle effect and enhancing lithium ionic conductivity.  相似文献

Li4Ti5O12 is regarded as the ideal anode material for its stable structure, high charge/discharge platform, and safety performance. But low ionic and electronic conductivity of the Li4Ti5O12 anode material under the condition of low temperature greatly limit its application in practical production. In this paper, some modified methods for improving the low-temperature electrochemical performance of Li4Ti5O12 anode material were summarized. Meanwhile, we explored its influence mechanisms at low temperature, one is, with the subtle changes of lattice parameters and oxygen atom fraction coordinates of Li4Ti5O12 at low temperature, the changes of the bond length influence the structural stability of Li4Ti5O12 and the diffusion path of lithium ions; the other reason is that the charge transfer resistance increases obviously and the lithium ion diffusion coefficient reduces under low temperature. Finally, the research directions for improving the low-temperature electrochemical performance were proposed.  相似文献

Li4Ti5O12 anode was successfully synthesized by solid-state method. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron micrographs show that Li4Ti5O12 prepared by solid-state method has a purity phase with a uniform particle size in the range of 0.5?C1???m. Cyclic voltammogram reveals that there is a big irreversible capacity for the first cycle. Li4Ti5O12 shows a stable cycling stability at 1?C rate. After 152 cycles, the discharge capacity is 213?mAh?g?1, which keeps 93% of it at the second cycle. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy shows that the resistance of charge-transfer of Li4Ti5O12 electrode decreased with increasing the storage temperatures, and the lithium diffusion coefficient is increased with increasing the storage temperatures, revealing that the kinetics of Li+ and electron transfer into the electrodes were much faster at high temperature than that at low temperature. The apparent activation energy of the charge transfer and lithium diffusion can be calculated to be 33.1 and 27.3?kJ?mol?1, respectively.  相似文献

The Li4Ti5O12 is applied in lithium ion batteries as anode material, which can be synthesized by various synthesis techniques. In this study, the molten salt synthesis technique at low temperatures, i.e. 350 °C, was applied to synthesize Li4Ti5O12. Surprisingly, the Li4Ti5O12 was not formed according to XRD analysis, which raised question about the stability range of Li4Ti5O12. To investigate the stability of Li4Ti5O12 at low temperatures, the high-temperature calcined Li4Ti5O12 powder was equilibrated in the LiCl-KCl eutectic salt at 350 °C. The result of experiment revealed that the Li4Ti5O12 is not decomposed. Results of ab initio calculations also indicated that the Li4Ti5O12 phase is a stable phase at 0 K. The products of molten salt synthesis technique were then annealed at 900 °C, which resulted in the Li4Ti5O12 formation. It was concluded that the Li4Ti5O12 is a stable phase at low temperatures and the reasons for not forming the Li4Ti5O12 by molten salt technique at low temperature are possibly related to activation energy and kinetic barriers. The Li4Ti5O12 formation energy is also very small, due to the results of ab initio calculations.  相似文献

Lithium-ion batteries with both high power and high energy density are one of the promising power sources for electric devices, especially for electric vehicles (EV) and other portable electric devices. One of the challenges is to improve the safety and electrochemical performance of lithium ion batteries anode materials. Li4Ti5O12 has been accepted as a novel anode material of power lithium ion battery instead of carbon because it can release lithium ions repeatedly for recharging and quickly for high current. However, Li4Ti5O12 has an insulating character due to the electronic structure characterized by empty Ti 3d-states, and this might result in the insufficient applications of LTO at high current discharge rate before any materials modifications. This review focuses first on the present status of Li4Ti5O12 including the synthesized method, doping, surface modification, application and theoretical calculation, then on its near future development.  相似文献
