Zusammenfassung Die Möglichkeiten der Massenspektrometrie (Elektronenstoß) in der qualitativen Analyse von O,O Dialkyldithiophosphaten des Zn und Pb werden erläutert. Die Spektren erlauben Aussagen über die Natur des Metallatoms und die C-Zahl der Alkylgruppen. Die Untersuchung komplexer Gemische ist ohne Vortrennung durchführbar. Eine Unterscheidung von isomeren Alkylgruppen ist jedoch nicht möglich.

Contribution to the analysis of lubricant additivesI. O,O-dialkyldithiophosphates of Zn and Pb — mass-spectrometric investigations

Summary Mass spectrometry (electron impact) is demonstrated to be a powerful tool in the qualitative analysis of O,O-dialkyldithiophosphates of Zn and Pb. The spectra, even from complex mixtures, allow the identification of different components with regard to the metal atom and the chain length of the alkyl groups. It is not possible however to distinguish between isomeric alkyl groups.

Contribution to the Analytical Separation and the Synthesis of 3-Hydroxy-4-oxocarotenoids (3RS,3′RS)-Astaxanthin (= 3,3′-dihydroxy-β,β-carotene-4,4′-dione, 1:1-mixture of racemate and meso-form; 1 ) can be separated into its optical isomers (3S,3′S)- 1a , (3R,3′R)- 1b and meso-(3R,3′S)- 1c via the corresponding diastereomeric di-(?)-camphanates. Some aspects of the configurational stability of astaxanthin are discussed. - HPLC. analysis of the (?)-camphanates of 3-hydroxy-4-oxocarotenoids provides, in suitable cases and supported by spectroscopic data, an analytical method for the simultaneous determination of constitution and chirality.

Zusammenfassung Es wird ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung von Stibin beschrieben, das sich sowohl zur Analyse von SbH₃ in organischen Lösungsmitteln als auch zur Bestimmung von flüssigem oder festem SbH₃ eignet. Hierbei wird das Stibin mit überschüssigem Brom zu Sb^V oxydiert, danach mit SO₂ zu Sb^III reduziert und dieses oxydimetrisch mit Jod oder Bromat titriert.

Summary A method is proposed for the determination of stibine, applicable to its solutions in organic solvents and also to the solvent-free liquid or solid substance. The procedure involves oxidation of SbH₃ with an excess of bromine to Sb^V, reduction to Sb^III with SO₂, and oxidimetric titration of the trivalent antimony with iodine or bromate.
