Fourteen flavonol glycosides including two new compounds were isolated from the leaves of two Diospyros plants (D. cathayensis and D. rhombifolia). Two compounds, apigenin-8-C-beta-D-glucopyranoside and 2-(hydroxymethylthio)ethanol, were extracted from the fermentation products of a strain of endophytic fungus, Colletotrichum sp. We report the isolation of a new sesquiterpene, named as syripinol (1), and two known compounds from the volatile oil of the stems of Syringa pinnatifolia, for the first time. The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods including UV, IR, ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR techniques. Four new lindenane sesquiterpenoid dimers, spicachlorantins G-J (1-4), were isolated from the roots of Chloranthus spicatus together with seven known compounds, including chloramultilide A, shizukaol B, shizukaol D, shizukaol F, shizukaol P, chlorahololide D, and cycloshizukaol A. The planar structures of the new compounds were established by 1D-, 2D-NMR, and MS analyses. Chemical investigation of methanolic extracts of the two Indonesian marine sponges Stylissa massa and Stylissa flabelliformis yielded 25 bromopyrrole alkaloids including 2 new metabolites. The structures of all isolated compounds were unambiguously elucidated based on extensive 1D and 2D NMR, LR-MS and HR-MS analyses. All isolated compounds were assayed for their antiproliferative and protein kinase inhibitory activities. Two new compounds, jiadifenlactone acid monomethyl ester ( 1 ) and jiadifenin ( 3 ), and five known compounds were isolated from the fruits of I. jiadifengpi . Their structures were determined using spectroscopic techniques, including 1D, 2D NMR and HR‐ESI‐MS experiments. The relative stereochemistry of jiadifenlactone acid monometheyl ester ( 1 ) was further confirmed by X‐ray crystallographic data.
