In this paper we characterize all prime and primary submodules of the free R-module R n for a principal ideal domain R and find the minimal primary decomposition of any submodule of R n . In the case n = 2, we also determine the height of prime submodules.  相似文献

Abstract

All rings are commutative with identity, and all modules are unital. The purpose of this work is to investigate comultiplication submodules of multiplication modules. Various properties of this class of submodules are considered. Sufficient conditions for the sum and intersection of a finite collection of comultiplication submodules to be a comultiplication submodule are also given.  相似文献

Lattices of submodules of modules and the operators we can define on these lattices are useful tools in the study of rings and modules and their properties. Here we shall consider some submodule operators defined by sets of left ideals. First we focus our attention on the relationship between properties of a set of ideals and properties of a submodule operator it defines. Our second goal will be to apply these results to the study of the structure of certain classes of rings and modules. In particular some applications to the study and the structure theory of torsion modules are provided.  相似文献

A right module $M$ over an associative ring $R$ with unity is a $QTAG$-module if every finitely generated submodule of any homomorphic image of $M$ is a direct sum of uniserial modules. This article considers the closure of $h$-pure-$S$-high submodules of $QTAG$-modules. Here, we determine all submodules $S$ of a $QTAG$-module $M$ such that each closure of $h$-pure-$S$-high submodule of $M$ is $h$-pure-$\overline{S}$-high in $\overline{M}$. A few results of this theme give a comparison of some elementary properties of $h$-pure-$S$-high and $S$-high submodules.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the dimension of a module over a commutative ring, which is defined to be the length of a longest chain of prime submodules. This notion is analogous to the usual Krull dimension of a ring. We investigate how some bounds on the dimension of modules are related to the structure of the underlying ring. The dimension of finitely generated modules over a Dedekind domain is also studied. By examining the structure of prime submodules, a formula for the dimension of a free module of finite rank, over a Noetherian one-dimensional domain, is obtained.  相似文献

In the final section, they give the equivalent conditions to be invertible, dense and projective submodules for a given an R-module M. Summary Let M be a left R-module. Then a proper submodule P of M is called weakly prime submodule if for any ideals A and B of R and any submodule N of M such that ABN P, we have AN P or BN P. We define weakly prime radicals of modules and show that for Ore domains, the study of weakly prime radicals of general modules reduces to that of torsion modules. We determine the weakly prime radical of any module over a commutative domain R with dim (R) ≦ 1. Also, we show that over a commutative domain R with dim (R) ≦ 1, every semiprime submodule of any module is an intersection of weakly prime submodules. Localization of a module over a commutative ring preserves the weakly prime property. An R-module M is called semi-compatible if every weakly prime submodule of M is an intersection of prime submodules. Also, a ring R is called semi-compatible if every R-module is semi-compatible. It is shown that any projective module over a commutative ring is semi-compatible and that a commutative Noetherian ring R is semi-compatible if and only if for every prime ideal B of R, the ring R/\B is a Dedekind domain. Finally, we show that if R is a UFD such that the free R-module RR is a semi-compatible module, then R is a Bezout domain.  相似文献

We introduce and study the concept of small Krull dimension of a module which is Krull-like dimension extension of the concept of DCC on small submodules. Using this concept we extend some of the basic results for modules with this dimension, which are almost similar to the basic properties of modules with Krull dimension. When for a module A with small Krull dimension, whose Rad(A) is quotient finite dimensional, then these two dimensions for Rad(A) coincide. In particular, we prove that if an R-module A has finite hollow dimension, then A has small Krull dimension if and only if it has Krull dimension. Consequently, we show that if A has properties AB5* and qfd, then A has s.Krull dimension if and only if A has Krull dimension.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative ring. We investigate R-modules which can be written as finite sums of second R-submodules (we call them second representable). The class of second representable modules lies between the class of finitely generated semisimple modules and the class of representable modules; moreover, we give examples to show that these inclusions are strict even for Abelian groups. We provide sufficient conditions for an R-module M to be have a (minimal) second presentation, in particular within the class of lifting modules. Moreover, we investigate the class of (main) second attached prime ideals related to a module with such a presentation.  相似文献

In this article the authors give the relation between a finitely-generated torsionfree Dedekind module M over a domain R and prime submodules of the 𝒪(M)-module M and the ring 𝒪(M). All rings are commutative with identity, and all modules are unital. The purpose of this article is to investigate multiplication von Neumann regular modules. For this reason we introduce the concept of nilpotent submodules generalizing nilpotent ideals and then prove that a faithful multiplication module is von Neumann regular if and only if it has no nonzero nilpotent elements and its Krull dimension is zero. We also give a new characterization for the radical of a submodule of a multiplication module and show in particular that the radical of any submodule of a Noetherian multiplication module is a finite intersection of prime submodules.  相似文献

Any ring with Krull dimension satisfies the ascending chain condition on semiprime ideals. This result does not hold more generally for modules. In particular if Ris the first Weyl algebra over a field of characteristic 0 then there are Artinian R-modules which do not satisfy the ascending chain condition on prime submodules. However, if Ris a ring which satisfies a polynomial identity then any R-module with Krull dimension satisfies the ascending chain condition on prime submodules, and, if Ris left Noethe-rian, also the ascending chain condition on semiprime submodules.  相似文献
