In this paper, we compare Krull dimension, Gorenstein injective dimension and injective dimension of a module in several cases. In fact, we establish some generalizations of the Bass formula. To this end, we generalize the Grothendieck non-vanishing theorem to a class of modules larger than finitely generated modules. Received: 21 May 2007  相似文献

We study families of polynomial dynamical systems inspired by biochemical reaction networks. We focus on complex balanced mass-action systems, which have also been called toric. They are known or conjectured to enjoy very strong dynamical properties, such as existence and uniqueness of positive steady states, local and global stability, persistence, and permanence. We consider the class of disguised toric dynamical systems, which contains toric dynamical systems, and to which all dynamical properties mentioned above extend naturally. By means of (real) algebraic geometry we show that some reaction networks have an empty toric locus or a toric locus of Lebesgue measure zero in parameter space, while their disguised toric locus is of positive measure. We also propose some algorithms one can use to detect the disguised toric locus.  相似文献

Let S be a polynomial ring and I be the Stanley-Reisner ideal of a simplicial complex Δ. The purpose of this paper is investigating the Buchsbaum property of S/I(r) when Δ is pure dimension 1. We shall characterize the Buchsbaumness of S/I(r) in terms of the graphical property of Δ. That is closely related to the characterization of the Cohen-Macaulayness of S/I(r) due to the first author and N.V. Trung.  相似文献

Let C be a reduced curve singularity. C is called of finite self-dual type if there exist only finitely many isomorphism classes of indecomposable, self-dual, torsion-free modules over the local ring of C. In this paper it is shown that the singularities of finite self-dual type are those which dominate a simple plane singularity.  相似文献

The notion of ε-multiplicity was originally defined by Ulrich and Validashti as a limsup and they used it to detect integral dependence of modules. It is important to know if it can be realized as a limit. In this article we show that the relative ε-multiplicity of reduced standard graded algebras over an excellent local ring exists as a limit. We also obtain some important special cases of Cutkosky's results concerning ε-multiplicity, as corollaries of our main theorem.  相似文献

Let GradAlg(H) be the scheme parameterizing graded quotients of R=k[x0,,xn] with Hilbert function H (it is a subscheme of the Hilbert scheme of Pn if we restrict to quotients of positive dimension, see definition below). A graded quotient A=R/I of codimension c is called standard determinantal if the ideal I can be generated by the t×t minors of a homogeneous t×(t+c?1) matrix (fij). Given integers a0a1...at+c?2 and b1...bt, we denote by Ws(b_;a_)?GradAlg(H) the stratum of determinantal rings where fijR are homogeneous of degrees aj?bi.In this paper we extend previous results on the dimension and codimension of Ws(b_;a_) in GradAlg(H) to artinian determinantal rings, and we show that GradAlg(H) is generically smooth along Ws(b_;a_) under some assumptions. For zero and one dimensional determinantal schemes we generalize earlier results on these questions. As a consequence we get that the general element of a component W of the Hilbert scheme of Pn is glicci provided W contains a standard determinantal scheme satisfying some conditions. We also show how certain ghost terms disappear under deformation while other ghost terms remain and are present in the minimal resolution of a general element of GradAlg(H).  相似文献

Let R be a commutative Noetherian ring, be an ideal of R and M be a finitely generated R-module. Melkersson and Schenzel asked whether the set becomes stable for a fixed integer i and sufficiently large j. This paper is concerned with this question. In fact, we prove that if s ≥ 0 and n ≥ 0 such that for all i with i < n, then is finite for all i with i < n, and is finite for all i with in, where for a subset T of Spec(R), we set . Also, among other things, we show that if n ≥ 0, R is semi-local and is finite for all i with i < n, then is finite for all i with in. K. The zero-divisor graph of a commutative ring R is the graph whose vertices consist of the nonzero zero-divisors of R such that distinct vertices x and y are adjacent if and only if xy=0. In this paper, a decomposition theorem is provided to describe weakly central-vertex complete graphs of radius 1. This characterization is then applied to the class of zero-divisor graphs of commutative rings. For finite commutative rings whose zero-divisor graphs are not isomorphic to that of Z4[X]/(X2), it is shown that weak central-vertex completeness is equivalent to the annihilator condition. Furthermore, a schema for describing zero-divisor graphs of radius 1 is provided.  相似文献

We prove that multigraded Betti numbers of a simplicial forest are always either 0 or 1. Moreover a nonzero multidegree appears exactly in one homological degree in the resolution. Our work generalizes work of Bouchat [2] on edge ideals of graph trees.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative Noetherian ring. We introduce the notion of colocalization functors γW with supports in arbitrary subsets W of Spec R. If W is a specialization-closed subset, then γW coincides with the right derived functor RΓW of the section functor ΓW with support in W. We prove that the local duality theorem and the vanishing theorem of Grothendieck type hold for γW with W being an arbitrary subset.  相似文献

In this article we consider finitely generated torsion-free modules over certain one-dimensional commutative Noetherian rings R. We assume there exists a positive integer NR such that, for every indecomposable R-module M and for every minimal prime ideal P of R, the dimension of MP, as a vector space over the field RP, is less than or equal to NR. If a nonzero indecomposable R-module M is such that all the localizations MP as vector spaces over the fields RP have the same dimension r, for every minimal prime P of R, then r=1,2,3,4 or 6. Let n be an integer ≥8. We show that if M is an R-module such that the vector space dimensions of the MP are between n and 2n−8, then M decomposes non-trivially. For each n≥8, we exhibit a semilocal ring and an indecomposable module for which the relevant dimensions range from n to 2n−7. These results require a mild equicharacteristic assumption; we also discuss bounds in the non-equicharacteristic case.  相似文献

Let J be an ideal of a noetherian local ring R. We show new results on the set of attached primes of a local cohomology module . To prove our results we establish and use new relations between the set of attached primes of a local cohomology module and the set of associated primes of the Matlis dual of the same local cohomology module.
