The First Power Mean of the Inversion of L-Functions Weighted by Quadratic Gauss Sums

The main purpose of this paper is to use estimates for character sums and analytic methods to study the first power mean of the inversion of Dirichlet L-functions with the weight of general quadratic Gauss sums, and three asymptotic formulae are obtained.

On some functional relations between Mordell-Tornheim double L-functions and Dirichlet L-functions

In the past decade, many relation formulas for the multiple zeta values, further for the multiple L-values at positive integers have been discovered. Recently Matsumoto suggested that it is important to reveal whether those relations are valid only at integer points, or valid also at other values. Indeed the famous Euler formula for ζ(2k) can be regarded as a part of the functional equation of ζ(s). In this paper, we give certain analytic functional relations between the Mordell-Tornheim double L-functions and the Dirichlet L-functions of conductor 3 and 4. These can be regarded as continuous generalizations of the known discrete relations between the Mordell-Tornheim L-values and the Dirichlet L-values of conductor 3 and 4 at positive integers.

Determining cusp forms by central values of Rankin-Selberg L-functions

Let g be a fixed normalized Hecke-Maass cusp form for SL(2,Z) associated to the Laplace eigenvalue . We show that g is uniquely determined by the central values of the family for k sufficiently large, where Hk(1) denotes a Hecke basis of the space of holomorphic cusp forms for SL(2,Z).

On the mean value of

Let χ be the Dirichlet character modulo q3 and L(s,χ) denote the corresponding Dirichlet L-function. The mean value of is studied and a few asymptotic formulae are given. Hybrid mean value of , general Kloosterman sums and general quadratic Gauss sums are considered.     

On the behavior of some two-variable p-adic L-functions

We give some p-adic integral representations for the two-variable p-adic L-functions introduced recently by G. Fox. For powers of the Teichmüller character, we use the integral representation to extend the L-function to a larger domain, in which it is a meromorphic function in the first variable and an analytic element in the second. These integral representations imply systems of congruences for the generalized Bernoulli polynomials, improving previous results of Fox, Gunaratne, and the author; they also lead to generalizations of some formulas of Diamond and of Ferrero and Greenberg for p-adic L-functions in terms of the p-adic gamma and log gamma functions.     

On the mean value of L-functions with the weight of character sums

The main purpose of this paper is using the estimate for character sums and the analytic method to study the mean value of the Dirichlet L-functions with the weight of character sums, and give an interesting mean value theorem.     

Beyond endoscopy for the Rankin-Selberg L-function

We try to understand the poles of L-functions via taking a limit in a trace formula. This technique avoids endoscopic and Kim-Shahidi methods. In particular, we investigate the poles of the Rankin-Selberg L-function. Using analytic number theory techniques to take this limit, we essentially get a new proof of the analyticity of the Rankin-Selberg L-function at s=1. Along the way we discover the convolution operation for Bessel transforms.     

Equivariant holomorphic differential operators and finite averages of values of L-functions

Using pullback formulas for both Siegel-Eisenstein series and Jacobi-Eisenstein series the second author obtained relations between critical values of certain L-functions. To extend these relations to other critical values we use holomorphic differential operators for both types of pullbacks. The differential operators in question are well known in the Siegel case whereas for the Jacobi case they have to be developed from scratch. To compare the two pullbacks, we have furthermore to establish a relation of unexpected nature between the two types of differential operators.     

On Dirichlet Series for Sums of Squares

Hardy and Wright (An Introduction to the Theory of Numbers, 5th edn., Oxford, 1979) recorded elegant closed forms for the generating functions of the divisor functions _k (n) and _k ²(n) in the terms of Riemann Zeta function (s) only. In this paper, we explore other arithmetical functions enjoying this remarkable property. In Theorem 2.1 below, we are able to generalize the above result and prove that if f _i and g _i are completely multiplicative, then we have where L _f(s) := _{n = 1} f(n)n ^–s is the Dirichlet series corresponding to f. Let r _N(n) be the number of solutions of x ₁ ² + ··· + x _N ² = n and r _2,P (n) be the number of solutions of x ² + Py ² = n. One of the applications of Theorem 2.1 is to obtain closed forms, in terms of (s) and Dirichlet L-functions, for the generating functions of r _N(n), r _N ²(n), r _2,P (n) and r _2,P (n)² for certain N and P. We also use these generating functions to obtain asymptotic estimates of the average values for each function for which we obtain a Dirichlet series.     

L-topological vector spaces and families of L-fuzzy pseudo-norms

In this paper, the concept of a family of L-fuzzy pseudo-norms on vector spaces is proposed and the characterization of L-vector topologies in terms of a family of L-fuzzy pseudo-norms is presented. As applications of the characterization, the Hausdorff separation property, convergence of molecule nets and boundedness of L-sets in L-topological vector spaces are investigated.     

Special values of L-functions of elliptic curves over Q and their base change to real quadratic fields

For an elliptic curve E over Q, and a real quadratic extension F of Q, satisfying suitable hypotheses, we study the algebraic part of certain twisted L-values for E/F. The Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture predicts that these L-values are squares of rational numbers. We show that this question is related to the ratio of Petersson inner products of a quaternionic form on a definite quaternion algebra over Q and its base change to F.     

Kernel systems on L-ordered sets

This paper presents fuzzy versions of kernel operators and kernel systems on L-ordered sets and establishes a one-to-one correspondence between them.     

L-fuzzy Q-convergence structures

In this paper, we construct a topological category of pretopological L-fuzzy Q-convergence spaces, which contains the category of topological L-fuzzy Q-convergence spaces as a bireflective full subcategory. Considering the connections with L-fuzzy topology, it is proved that the category of topological L-fuzzy Q-convergence spaces is isomorphic to the category of topological L-fuzzy quasi-coincident neighborhood spaces, and the latter is isomorphic to the category of L-fuzzy topological spaces. Moreover, we find that our pretopological L-fuzzy Q-convergence spaces can be characterized as a kind of L-fuzzy quasi-coincident neighborhood spaces, which is called strong L-fuzzy quasi-coincident neighborhood space.     

Apéry limits and special values of L-functions

We describe a general method to determine the Apéry limits of a differential equation that has a modular-function origin. As a by-product of our analysis, we discover a family of identities involving the special values of L-functions associated with modular forms. The proof of these identities is independent of differential equations and Apéry limits.
