Gamma irradiated [(CH3)4N]InCl4 and [(CH3)4N]2CdCl4 single crystals were investigated by electron paramagnetic resonance at ambient temperature, and it has been found that both compounds indicate the existence of (CH3)3N+ radicals. The g factors were found to be isotropic, and the hyperfine constant for H atoms was measured as 2.86 mT and is isotropic for this radical in these substances. The hyperfine coupling constant of the N nucleus with the hole in (CH3)3N+ in [(CH3)4N]InCl4 was found to be anisotropic with the Azz=2.92, Ayy=1.62 and Axx=1.40 mT. From these, it has been revealed that the C3v-axis of (CH3)3N+ radical performs rotational or jumping reorientational motions around a fixed axis, in addition to the rotations of protons in CH3 groups and the rotational motions of CH3 groups around the C3v-axis of the radical. The g, and the hyperfine coupling factors of the N nucleus were isotropic in (CH3)3N+ in [(CH3)4N]2CdCl4. This indicates the motional behaviour of the radical in this compound is as in a liquid. This isotropic behaviour of the hyperfine coupling constants was found to be same until the attainable lowest temperature of 113 K in our laboratory.  相似文献

The complex dielectric permittivity ?(ω) of [N(CH3)4]2CoCl4 and [N(CH3)4]2ZnCl4 along the a-axis was measured between 0.35 MHz and 100 MHz. It has been found that for both substances the relaxation frequencies are about 5 MHz at Tc. The dielectric relaxation of both substances could be described by a polydispersive process β = 0.74 in the vicinity of Tc. However, for the temperature region of (T?Tc) > 0.6 for [N(CH3)4]2CoCl4 the dielectric absorption seems to be rather monodispersive.  相似文献

Single crystals [N(CH3)4]2MnCl4 and [N(CH3)4]2CoCl4 were grown by the slow evaporation technique from the super-saturated solutions. The samples obtained were undergone the X-ray and spectroscopic studies. Absorption spectra in the paraelectric phase at T=303 K have been recorded using the Shimadzu 160A double beam automatic scanning spectrophotometers. On the basis of the exchange charge model and Racah theory the crystal field parameters and Racah parameters have been calculated; all absorption bands for both crystals were given an assignment.  相似文献

The compound (Me4P)2ZnBr4, a member of the β-K2SO4 structure class, undergoes a phase transition at 84°C from the room temperature space group P121/c1 to the parent Pmcn structure. The room temperature structure corresponds to a ferrodistortive transition of B1g symmetry at the zone center. At room temperature, the compound has lattice constants a=9.501(1), b=16.055(2), c=13.127(2) Å and β=90.43(1)°. For the high temperature phase, the orthorhombic cell has dimensions a=9.466(2), b=16.351(3) and c=13.284(2) Å. The structures consist of two crystallographically independent Me4P+ cations and the ZnBr42− anions. In the room temperature phase, all three ionic species show substantial displacement from the mirror plane perpendicular to the a-axis that exists in the high temperature phase, as well as rotations out of that plane. The thermal parameters of the cations are indicative of substantial librational motion. Measurements of lattice parameters have been made at 2-5°C intervals over the temperature range 40-140°C. The changes in the lattice constants appear continuous at Tc (within experimental limits) indicating that the phase transition is likely second-order. The a lattice constant shows an anomalous shortening as Tc is approached. Thermal expansion coefficients are calculated from this data. An application of Landau theory is used to derive the temperature dependencies of spontaneous shear strain and corresponding elastic stiffness constants associated with the primary order parameter.  相似文献

Neutron inelastic scattering measurements have been performed on [(NH4)xK1?x]2SO4. It is shown that NH4+ preferentially occupies one of the two available inequivalent sites at smaller concentrations. NH4+ at the other site seems to be necessary for the occurance of ferroelectricity in these compounds.  相似文献

Measurements of Vickers microhardness (MHv) as a function of temperature has been carried out on [N(CH3)4]2CuCl4 single crystals. The nuclear spin-lattice relaxation times of protons in a low-dimensional Ising-like system [(CH3)3NH]CoCl3 · 2H2O were measured from 1.2 to 4.2 K in zero field and in an external magnetic field applied along the spin easy-axis. The calculation for the two-magnon Raman process was carried out with respect to a ferromagnetic layer of the bc-plane. By taking the gap energy to be 14.0 K, the best fit of the theoretical curves with the data was obtained from 1.2 K to about 2.0 K. The experimental results at high temperatures deviate seriously from the prediction of this process, which is discussed in terms of a tentative model for the nuclear relaxation process associated with magnon bound states.  相似文献

The third-order optical nonlinearities of an organo-metallic compound, [(CH3)4N]2[Cu(dmit)2] (dmit2−=4,5-dithiolate-1,3-dithiole-2-thione), abbreviated as MeCu, dissolved in acetone are characterized by Z-scan technique with picosecond and nanosecond laser pulses in the near-infrared region. Two-photon absorption has been found when the sample solution is irradiated by 40 ps pulse width at 1064 nm and the two-photon absorption (TPA) coefficient βTPA is 4×10−13 m/W. While excited by 15 ns laser pulses at 1053 nm, the Z-scan spectra reveal strong reverse saturable absorption (RSA) and the nonlinear absorption coefficient βRSA is estimated to be as high as 7.07×10−11 m/W which is much larger than βTPA. An explanation for this enhancement is given. All the results suggest that MeCu may be a promising candidate for the application to optical limiting in the near-infrared region.  相似文献

The molecular susceptibility and paramagnetic shift of [N(CH3)4]2CoCl4 single crystals were measured, and from these experimental results we obtained the transferred hyperfine interaction, Hhf, due to the transfer of spin density from Co2+ ions to [N(CH3)4]+ ions. The transferred hyperfine interaction can be expressed as a linear equation, with Hhf increasing with increasing temperature. The remarkable change in Hhf near Tc5 (=192 K) corresponds to a phase transition. The proton spin-lattice relaxation times of [N(CH3)4]2CoCl4 single crystals were also investigated, and it was found that the relaxation process can be described by a single exponential function. The variation of the relaxation time with temperature undergoes a remarkable change near Tc5, confirming the presence of a phase transition at that temperature. From the above results, we conclude that the increase in Hhf with increasing temperature is large enough to allow the transfer of spin density between Co2+ ions and the nuclear spins of the nonmagnetic [N(CH3)4]+ ions in the lattice, and thus the increase in the relaxation time with temperature is attributed to an increase in the transferred hyperfine field.  相似文献

The third-order optical nonlinearities of [(CH3)4N]Au(dmit)2 (dmit = 4,5-dithiolate-1,3-dithiole-2-thione) at 532 nm and 1064 nm are investigated using the Z-scan technique with pulses of picoseconds duration. The Z-scan spectra reveal a strong nonlinear absorption (reverse saturable absorption) and a negative nonlinear refraction at 532 nm. No nonlinear absorption is observed at 1064 nm. The molecular second-order hyperpolarizability γ for the [(CH3)4N]Au(dmit)2 molecule at 532nm is estimated to be as high as (2.1 ±0.1) × 10^-31 esu, which is nearly three times larger than that at 1064 nm. The mechanism responsible for the difference between the results is analysed. Nonlinear transmission measurements suggest that this material has potential applications in optical limiting.  相似文献

The ground state of the solid solution of the two spin gap systems (CH3)2CHNH3CuCl3 and (CH3)2CHNH3CuBr3 has been investigated by 1H NMR. The existence of a magnetic ordering in the sample with the Cl-content x=0.85 was clearly demonstrated by a drastic splitting in a resonance line at low temperatures below TN=13.5 K. The observed NMR spectra in the ordered state was qualitatively consistent with the simple antiferromagnetic state.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the ac susceptibility (χ) at constant applied magnetic field was investigated in the paramagnetic region of the quasi-2D ferromagnet (CH3NH3)2CuCl4. Above the Curie temperature (TC=8.85 K) a maximum in the χ(T,H) curves was observed at Tm(H). The temperature at the maximum increases with increasing applied field. This anomaly is related to short range fluctuations close the order transition. The behavior of Tm(H) is governed by the gap exponent of the scaling function (Δ=γ+β). We found Δ=2.2±0.1 in very good agreement with the previously known values of γ and β.  相似文献

Phase transitions of tetra(isopropylammonium)decachlorotricadmate(II) [(CH3)2CHNH3]4Cd3Cl10 crystal have been studied by infrared, far infrared and Raman measurements in wide temperature range, between 11 K and 388 K. The temperature changes of wavenumber, center of gravity, width and intensity of the bands were analyzed to clarify cationic and anionic contributions to the phase transitions mechanism. The results of investigation showed earlier by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermal expansion and dielectric measurements clearly confirmed the sequence of phase transitions at T1=353 K, T2=294 K and T3=260 K. The current results derived from DSC and infrared measurements revealed additional phase transition at T4=120 K.  相似文献

The [(CH3)4N]2ZnCl4?xBrx system shows a complete miscibility with a common Pnma high temperature phase. The (x,T)-phase diagram (x given by [(CH3)4N]2ZnCl4?xBrx) was determined by means of DSC- and X-ray measurements. In the vicinity of both end members an analogy to the (P,T)-phase diagrams of pure compounds is observed with an increasing x corresponding to an increase of pressure. In the intermediate part of the system other effects become important leading to large coexistence regions of different phases. This is evidently due to the simultaneous occupancy of anion tetrahedra by different numbers of Cl and Br atoms. The non-equivalent ZnX4-tetrahedra of solid solutions do not suppress the occurence of the incommensurate phases. They exist between x = 0 to ?3 and are interrupted by a supposedly ferroelectric phase occuring up to x ?0.4. Around x ? 3 a triple point occurs the nature of which needs a closer elucidation.  相似文献

The contribution of solitons, existing as bound states of spin excitations and lattice oscillation, to the dynamic structure factor in ferromagnetic chains of [(CH3)4N] [NiCl3] is evaluated. At sufficiently low temperatures these low-energy soliton excitations determine the thermodynamic properties of the system and can be revealed by observing the quasielastic component in the neutron scattering spectrum.  相似文献

The behavior of the one-dimensional electrical conductor K2[Pt(CN)4Cl0·3·x.H2O is studied at several temperatures in both wet and dry atmospheres using chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction and magnetic susceptibility data. It is concluded that the material is a series of hydrates with x between 2.5 and 3, and that a variation in x might influence its physical properties.  相似文献

The electronic absorption spectra of [(CH3)3NH] MnCl3.2H2O single crystals are reported in the 15,000–45,000 cm-1 region. In addition to the normally studied sextet → quartet transitions, special attention has been paid to the sextet → doublet transitions. Crystal field parameters evaluated (including the Trees' correction factor) to fit the observed spectra are B = 800, C = 2900, Dq = 680, and α = 76 cm-1.  相似文献

The hydrostatic pressure effect on the stability of phases I, II, III and IV in {N(CH3)4}2FeCl4 was studied by dielectric and DTA measurements in the temperature and pressure region of -40-30°C and 0–2 kbar. The pressure-induced new phase V found at applied pressures between 0.3 and 1.0 kbar was confirmed to be ferroelectric by the observation of D-E hysteresis loop. These results are compared with those of {N(CH3)4}2XCl4 (X: Co, Zn and Mn) in this paper.  相似文献
