In this paper, the existence of boundary layer solutions to the Boltzmann equation with two physical boundary conditions for hard sphere model is considered. The boundary condition is first imposed on incoming particles of diffuse reflection type and the solution tends to a global Maxwellian in the far field. Similar to the problem with Dirichlet boundary condition studied in [S. Ukai, T. Yang, S.H. Yu, Nonlinear boundary layers of the Boltzmann equation: I. Existence, Comm. Math. Phys. 236 (3) (2003) 373-393], the existence of a solution is shown to depend on the Mach number of the far field Maxwellian, and there is an implicit solvability conditions yielding the co-dimensions of the boundary data. At last, the specular reflection boundary condition is considered and the similar conclusions are obtained.  相似文献

Many physical models have boundaries. When the Boltzmann equation is used to study a physical problem with boundary, there usually exists a layer of width of the order of the Knudsen number along the boundary. Hence, the research on the boundary layer problem is important both in mathematics and physics. Based on the previous work, in this paper, we consider the existence of boundary layer solution to the Boltzmann equation for hard sphere model with positive Mach number. The boundary condition is imposed on incoming particles of reverse reflection type, and the solution is assumed to approach to a global Maxwellian in the far field. Similar to the problem with Dirichlet boundary condition studied in [S. Ukai, T. Yang, S.H. Yu, Nonlinear boundary layers of the Boltzmann equation: I. Existence, Comm. Math. Phys. 3 (2003) 373-393], the existence of a solution is shown to depend on the Mach number of the far field Maxwellian. Moreover, there is an implicit solvability condition on the boundary data. According to the solvability condition, the co-dimension of the boundary data related to the number of the positive characteristic speeds is obtained.  相似文献

We consider the nonlinear boundary layer to the Boltzmann equation for cutoff soft potential with physical boundary condition, i.e., the Dirichlet boundary condition with weak diffuse effect. Under the assumption that the distribution function of gas particles tends to a global Maxwellian in the far field, we will show the boundary layer exist if the boundary data satisfy the solvability condition. Moreover, the codimensions of the boundary data which satisfies the solvability condition change with the Mach number of the far field Maxwellian like Chen et al. (2004) [5], Ukai et al. (2003) [6] and Wang et al. (2007) [7].  相似文献

A mathematical model is given for the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) pipe flow as an inner Dirichlet problem in a 2D circular cross section of the pipe, coupled with an outer Dirichlet or Neumann magnetic problem. Inner Dirichlet problem is given as the coupled convection‐diffusion equations for the velocity and the induced current of the fluid coupling also to the outer problem, which is defined with the Laplace equation for the induced magnetic field of the exterior region with either Dirichlet or Neumann boundary condition. Unique solution of inner Dirichlet problem is obtained theoretically reducing it into two boundary integral equations defined on the boundary by using the corresponding fundamental solutions. Exterior solution is also given theoretically on the pipe wall with Poisson integral, and it is unique with Dirichlet boundary condition but exists with an additive constant obtained through coupled boundary and solvability conditions in Neumann wall condition. The collocation method is used to discretize these boundary integrals on the pipe wall. Thus, the proposed procedure is an improved theoretical analysis for combining the solution methods for the interior and exterior regions, which are consolidated numerically showing the flow behavior. The solution is simulated for several values of problem parameters, and the well‐known MHD characteristics are observed inside the pipe for increasing values of Hartmann number maintaining the continuity of induced currents on the pipe wall.  相似文献

We study the existence, uniqueness and continuous dependence on initial data of the solution for a nonlocal Cahn-Hilliard equation with Dirichlet boundary condition on a bounded domain. Under a nondegeneracy assumption the solutions are classical but when this is relaxed, the equation is satisfied in a weak sense. Also we prove that there exists a global attractor in some metric space.  相似文献

We prove the existence and uniqueness of an energy class solution of an initial–boundary value problem for a semilinear equation in divergence form. We consider the case in which an inhomogeneous third boundary condition is posed on one part of the lateral surface of the cylinder in which the equation is studied and the homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition is posed on the other part of the lateral surface.  相似文献

For the long range interaction, we prove the global existence of renormalized solutions to the Boltzmann equation with incoming boundary condition. Furthermore, as Knudsen number ? goes to zero, the limit to the incompressible Navier–Stokes limit with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition is justified when the boundary data of the scaled Boltzmann equation is close to the Maxwellian with order O(?3) in the sense of boundary relative entropy.  相似文献

We establish the wellposedness of the time‐independent Navier–Stokes equations with threshold slip boundary conditions in bounded domains. The boundary condition is a generalization of Navier's slip condition and a restricted Coulomb‐type friction condition: for wall slip to occur the magnitude of the tangential traction must exceed a prescribed threshold, independent of the normal stress, and where slip occurs the tangential traction is equal to a prescribed, possibly nonlinear, function of the slip velocity. In addition, a Dirichlet condition is imposed on a component of the boundary if the domain is rotationally symmetric. We formulate the boundary‐value problem as a variational inequality and then use the Galerkin method and fixed point arguments to prove the existence of a weak solution under suitable regularity assumptions and restrictions on the size of the data. We also prove the uniqueness of the solution and its continuous dependence on the data. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We deal with the Dirichlet problem for a class of Penrose–Fife phase field models for phase transitions. An existence result is obtained by approximating the non‐homogeneous Dirichlet condition with classical third type conditions on the heat flux at the boundary of the domain where the model is considered. Moreover, we prove a regularity and uniqueness result under stronger assumptions on the regularity of the data. Suitable assumptions on the behaviour of the heat flux at zero and +∞are considered. We study whether the solutions of a fully nonlinear, uniformly parabolic equation with superquadratic growth in the gradient satisfy initial and homogeneous boundary conditions in the classical sense, a problem we refer to as the classical Dirichlet problem. Our main results are: the nonexistence of global-in-time solutions of this problem, depending on a specific largeness condition on the initial data, and the existence of local-in-time solutions for initial data C1 up to the boundary. Global existence is know when boundary conditions are understood in the viscosity sense, what is known as the generalized Dirichlet problem. Therefore, our result implies loss of boundary conditions in finite time. Specifically, a solution satisfying homogeneous boundary conditions in the viscosity sense eventually becomes strictly positive at some point of the boundary.  相似文献

An initial boundary value problem for a quasilinear equation of pseudoparabolic type with a nonlinear boundary condition of the Neumann–Dirichlet type is investigated in this work. From a physical point of view, the initial boundary value problem considered here is a mathematical model of quasistationary processes in semiconductors and magnets, which takes into account a wide variety of physical factors. Many approximate methods are suitable for finding eigenvalues and eigenfunctions in problems where the boundary conditions are linear with respect to the desired function and its derivatives. Among these methods, the Galerkin method leads to the simplest calculations. On the basis of a priori estimates, we prove a local existence theorem and uniqueness for a weak generalized solution of the initial boundary value problem for the quasilinear pseudoparabolic equation. A special place in the theory of nonlinear equations is occupied by the study of unbounded solutions, or, as they are called in another way, blow-up regimes. Nonlinear evolutionary problems admitting unbounded solutions are globally unsolvable. In the article, sufficient conditions for the blow-up of a solution in a finite time in a limited area with a nonlinear Neumann–Dirichlet boundary condition are obtained.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a class of superlinear semipositone singular second order Dirichlet boundary value problem. A sufficient condition for the existence of positive solution is obtained under the more simple assumptions.  相似文献

The main subject of this work is to study the concept of very weak solution for the hydrostatic Stokes system with mixed boundary conditions (non-smooth Neumann conditions on the rigid surface and homogeneous Dirichlet conditions elsewhere on the boundary). In the Stokes framework, this concept has been studied by Conca [Rev. Mat. Apl. 10 (1989)] imposing non-smooth Dirichlet boundary conditions. In this paper, we introduce the dual problem that turns out to be a hydrostatic Stokes system with non-free divergence condition. First, we obtain strong regularity for this dual problem (which can be viewed as a generalisation of the regularity results for the hydrostatic Stokes system with free divergence condition obtained by Ziane [Appl. Anal. 58 (1995)]). Afterwards, we prove existence and uniqueness of very weak solution for the (primal) problem. As a consequence of this result, the existence of strong solution for the non-stationary hydrostatic Navier-Stokes equations is proved, weakening the hypothesis over the time derivative of the wind stress tensor imposed by Guillén-González, Masmoudi and Rodríguez-Bellido [Differential Integral Equations 50 (2001)].  相似文献

An initial-boundary value problem is considered for the density-dependent incompressible viscous magnetohydrodynamic flow in a three-dimensional bounded domain. The homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition is prescribed on the velocity, and the perfectly conducting wall condition is prescribed on the magnetic field. For the initial density away from vacuum, the existence and uniqueness are established for the local strong solution with large initial data as well as for the global strong solution with small initial data. Furthermore, the weak-strong uniqueness of solutions is also proved, which shows that the weak solution is equal to the strong solution with certain initial data.  相似文献

We study an inhomogeneous boundary value problem for the stationary magnetohydrodynamic equations for a viscous incompressible fluid corresponding to the case in which the tangential component of the magnetic field is specified on the boundary and the Dirichlet condition is posed for the velocity. We derive sufficient conditions on the input data for the global solvability of the problem and the local uniqueness of the solution.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with viscosity solutions for a class of degenerate quasilinear parabolic equations in a bounded domain with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition. The equation under consideration arises from a number of practical model problems including reaction–diffusion processes in a porous medium. The degeneracy of the problem appears on the boundary and possibly in the interior of the domain. The goal of this paper is to establish some comparison properties between viscosity upper and lower solutions and to show the existence of a continuous viscosity solution between them. An application of the above results is given to a porous-medium type of reaction–diffusion model which demonstrates some distinctive properties of the solution when compared with the corresponding semilinear problem.  相似文献

In this paper we are concerned with the initial boundary value problem for the micropolar fluid system in nonsmooth domains with mixed boundary conditions. The considered boundary conditions are of two types: Navier’s slip conditions on solid surfaces and Neumann-type boundary conditions on free surfaces. The Dirichlet boundary condition for the microrotation of the fluid is commonly used in practice. However, the well-posedness of problems with different types of boundary conditions for microrotation are completely unexplored. The present paper is devoted to the proof of the existence, regularity and uniqueness of the solution in distribution spaces.  相似文献

This article deals with a boundary value problem for Laplace equation with a non‐linear and non‐local boundary condition. This problem comes from petroleum engineering and is used to obtain an estimation of well productivity. The non‐linear and non‐local boundary condition is written on the well boundary. On the outer reservoir boundaries, we have both Dirichlet and Neumann conditions. In this paper, we prove the existence and uniqueness of a solution to this problem. The existence is proved by Schauder theorem and the uniqueness is obtained under more restricted conditions, when the involved operator is a contraction. We consider the Stefan problem with Dirichlet boundary conditions depending on a hysteresis functional where the free boundary is involved. We show existence of a positive valueT and existence of aT-periodic solution of the problem, provided the Stefan number is sufficiently small and the hysteresis functional is described by the elementary rectangular hysteresis loop. If in addition the Preisach hysteresis operator is Lipschitz-continuous we prove that every periodic solution must be stationary. In this article, we consider a single‐phase coupled nonlinear Stefan problem of the water‐head and concentration equations with nonlinear source and permeance terms and a Dirichlet boundary condition depending on the free‐boundary function. The problem is very important in subsurface contaminant transport and remediation, seawater intrusion and control, and many other applications. While a Landau type transformation is introduced to immobilize the free boundary, a transformation for the water‐head and concentration functions is defined to deal with the nonhomogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition, which depends on the free boundary function. An H1‐finite element method for the problem is then proposed and analyzed. The existence of the approximation solution is established, and error estimates are obtained for both the semi‐discrete schemes and the fully discrete schemes. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
