Abstract

Nonlinear systems are often subject to random influences. Sometimes the noise enters the system through physical boundaries and this leads to stochastic dynamic boundary conditions. A dynamic, as opposed to static, boundary condition involves the time derivative as well as spatial derivatives for the system state variables on the boundary. Although stochastic static (Neumann or Dirichet type) boundary conditions have been applied for stochastic partial differential equations, not much is known about the dynamical impact of stochastic dynamic boundary conditions. The purpose of this article is to study possible impacts of stochastic dynamic boundary conditions on the long term dynamics of the Cahn-Hilliard equation arising in the materials science. We show that the dimension estimation of the random attractor increases as the coefficient for the dynamic term in the stochastic dynamic boundary condition decreases. However, the dimension of the random attractor is not affected by the corresponding stochastic static boundary condition.  相似文献

This paper concerns the well-posedness of the hydrodynamic model for semiconductor devices, a quasi-linear elliptic–parbolic–hyperbolic system. Boundary conditions for elliptic and parabolic equations are Dirichlet conditions while boundary conditions for the hyperbolic equations are assumed to be well-posed in L2 sense. Maximally strictly dissipative boundary conditions for the hyperbolic equations satisfy the assumption of well-posedness in L2 sense. The well-posedness of the model under the boundary conditions is demonstrated.  相似文献

In a Hilbert space H, we study the Fredholm property of a boundary value problem for a fourth-order differential-operator equation of elliptic type with unbounded operators in the boundary conditions. We find sufficient conditions on the operators in the boundary conditions for the problem to be Fredholm. We give applications of the abstract results to boundary value problems for fourth-order elliptic partial differential equations in nonsmooth domains.  相似文献

We discuss generalized boundary conditions for representative volume elements (RVE), which include the classical boundary conditions as special cases. From the generalization, stochastic boundary conditions are derived. These allows to adjust the the stiffness of the boundary conditions smoothly between the extremal cases of homogeneous strain and homogeneous stress boundary conditions. We found that it needs to be distinguished between the resistance of the boundary conditions against homogeneous and inhomogeneous RVE deformation. The stochastic BC can combine the moderate stiffness of the well known periodic boundary conditions with the high resistance against localization of the homogeneous strain boundary conditions. The asymptotic behavior of solutions to boundary value problems for the Poisson equation is studied in a thick two-level junction of type 3:2:2 with alternating boundary conditions. The thick junction consists of a cylinder with ε-periodically stringed thin disks of variable thickness. The disks are divided into two classes depending on their geometric structure and boundary conditions. We consider problems with alternating Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions and also problems with different alternating Fourier (Neumann) conditions. We study the influence of the boundary conditions on the asymptotic behavior of solutions as ε → 0. Convergence theorems, in particular, convergence of energy integrals, are proved. This paper is a continuation of the author’s paper in 2009,where the abstract theory of fold completeness in Banach spaces has been presented.Using obtained there abstract results,we consider now very general boundary value problems for ODEs and PDEs which polynomially depend on the spectral parameter in both the equation and the boundary conditions. Moreover, equations and boundary conditions may contain abstract operators as well. So,we deal, generally, with integro-differential equations,functional-differential equations, nonlocal boundary conditions, multipoint boundary conditions,integro-differential boundary conditions. We prove n-fold completeness of a system of root functions of considered problems in the corresponding direct sum of Sobolev spaces in the Banach Lq-framework,in contrast to previously known results in the Hilbert L 2-framework.Some concrete mechanical problems are also presented.  相似文献

We describe all degenerate two-point boundary conditions possible in a homogeneous spectral problem for the diffusion operator. We show that the case in which the characteristic determinant is identically zero is impossible for the nonsymmetric diffusion operator and that the only possible degenerate boundary conditions are the Cauchy conditions. For the symmetric diffusion operator, the characteristic determinant is zero if and only if the boundary conditions are falsely periodic boundary conditions; the characteristic determinant is identically a nonzero constant if and only if the boundary conditions are generalized Cauchy conditions.  相似文献

When one uses high-order finite difference schemes for the wave equation, for instance fourth order schemes, the treatment of boundary conditions poses a real difficulty since one needs several additional equations (for the nodes close to the boundary), while one single scalar boundary condition is available. In the case of perfectly reflecting boundary conditions, namely the homogeneous Neumann or Dirichlet conditions, this difficulty can be overcomed by the use of the well-known image principle, which permits the extension of the equation outside of the domain of calculation by an appropriate symmetrization of the data. We propose in this article a generalization of this principle to the absorbing boundary conditions. Through a symmetrization process, we are led to introduce a damped wave equation with a damping term supported by the boundary. The treatment of the boundary condition is then replaced by the approximation of this new damped wave equation in the whole space. The theoretical justification of our approach is based on new energy estimates for the wave equation (when high-order absorbing boundary conditions are used), and constitutes an alternative to the use of the well-known Kreiss criterion to prove the stability of the associated initial boundary value problems. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

We establish conditions for the existence and nonexistence of global solutions of initial boundary value problem for a system of semilinear parabolic equations with nonlinear nonlocal Neumann boundary conditions. We show that these conditions are determined by the behavior of the problem coefficients as t→∞.  相似文献

Absorbing boundary conditions have been developed for various types of problems to truncate infinite domains in order to perform computations. But absorbing boundary conditions have a second, recent and important application: parallel computing. We show that absorbing boundary conditions are essential for a good performance of the Schwarz waveform relaxation algorithm applied to the wave equation. In turn this application gives the idea of introducing a layer close to the truncation boundary which leads to a new way of optimizing absorbing boundary conditions for truncating domains. We optimize the conditions in the case of straight boundaries and illustrate our analysis with numerical experiments both for truncating domains and the Schwarz waveform relaxation algorithm.

Dissipative differential-difference boundary conditions for elasticity equations are derived and investigated. These conditions completely eliminate the longitudinal and transverse waves reflected from the boundary in case of normal incidence and substantially reduce the reflected waves in a wide range of other incidence angles. The dissipative boundary conditions reduce computer resource requirements for simulation of seismic wave propagation in unbounded regions. Grid analogues of the dissipative boundary conditions are constructed for a two-layer finite-difference scheme. Comparative results are reported for the solution of two-dimensional seismic problems using these boundary conditions for various incidence angles. __________ Translated from Prikladnaya Matematika i Informatika, No. 18, pp. 83–92, 2004.  相似文献

This work is a continuation of our previous paper [8]. We investigate well-posedness (in the semigroup theory sense) of transport equations with general external fields and general measures associated to boundary conditions modeled by abstract boundary operators H. Fine properties of the traces are investigated, extending well-known results by M. Cessenat [15]. For dissipative boundary conditions, we revisit and generalize results from [12, 17] while, for multiplicative boundary conditions we extend techniques from [25]. Finally, we also investigate the case of boundary conditions associated to a boundary operator of norm one, extending the recent results of [6, 27] to more general fields and measures.  相似文献

In a recent article, we achieved the well-posedness of linear hyperbolic initial and boundary value problems (IBVP) in a rectangle via semigroup method, and we found that there are only two elementary modes called hyperbolic and elliptic modes in the system. It seems that, there is only one set of boundary conditions for the hyperbolic mode, while there are infinitely many sets of boundary conditions for the elliptic mode, which can lead to well-posedness. In this article, we continue to consider linear hyperbolic IBVP in a rectangle in the constant coefficients case and we show that there are also infinitely many sets of boundary conditions for hyperbolic mode which will lead to the existence of a solution. We also have uniqueness in some special cases. The boundary conditions satisfy the reflection conditions introduced in Section 3, which turn out to be equivalent to the strictly dissipative conditions.  相似文献

By equivalently replacing the dynamical boundary condition by a kind of nonlocal boundary conditions, and noting a hidden regularity of solution on the boundary with a dynamical boundary condition, a constructive method with modular structure is used to get the local exact boundary controllability for 1‐D quasilinear wave equations with dynamical boundary conditions. The asymptotics for the differences of the eigenvalues of two Sturm-Liouville problems defined on [0,π] with the same boundary conditions and different smooth potentials is considered. Under the assumptions of that both problems with a suite of boundary conditions have the same one full spectrum and both potential functions and their derivatives are the same at the endpoint x=π, the asymptotic expressions associated with other boundary conditions are provided.  相似文献

We review the recent results for boundary value problems with boundary conditions given by second-order integral-differential operators. Particular attention has been paid to nonlinear problems (without integral terms in the boundary conditions) for elliptic and parabolic equations. For these problems we formulate some statements concerning a priori estimates and the existence theorems in Sobolev and Hölder spaces.  相似文献

We solve state observation problems for string vibrations, i.e., problems in which the initial conditions generating the observed string vibrations should be reconstructed from a given string state at two distinct time instants. The observed vibrations are described by the boundary value problem for the wave equation with homogeneous boundary conditions of the first kind. The observation problem is considered for classical and L 2-generalized solutions of this boundary value problem.  相似文献

We consider a boundary value problem for an ordinary differential equation of order n with a spectral parameter in n boundary conditions. We suggest a method for changing one of the boundary conditions so as to make the problem have a prescribed spectrum.  相似文献

We construct the fundamental solution or Green function for a divergence form elliptic system in two dimensions with bounded and measurable coefficients. Our main goal is construct the Green function for the operator with mixed boundary conditions in a Lipschitz domain. Thus we specify Dirichlet data on part of the boundary and Neumann data on the remainder of the boundary. We require a corkscrew or non-tangential accessibility condition on the set where we specify Dirichlet boundary conditions. Our proof proceeds by defining a variant of the space BMO(Ω) that is adapted to the boundary conditions and showing that the solution exists in this space. We also give a construction of the Green function with Neumann boundary conditions and the fundamental solution in the plane.  相似文献

New non-reflecting boundary conditions are introduced for the solution of the Helmholtz equation in a waveguide. These boundary conditions are perfectly transparent for all propagating modes. They do not require the determination of these propagating modes but only their propagation constants. A quasi-local form of these boundary conditions is well suited as terminating boundary condition beyond finite element meshes. Related convergence properties to the exact solution and optimal error estimates are established.
