Determination of oxygen stoichiometry in mixed Mn(III)/Cr(III)-oxides

Summary The method and experiences with the determination of oxygen Stoichiometry in mixed manganesechromium sesquioxides are described. The decomposition is carried out in sealed glass tubes in hydrochloric acid in presence of a ferro-ferric system. The oxydation state of the analysed materials is determined by titration of Fe²⁺ ions with a solution of cerium salt, ferroin being used as indicator.

Bestimmung der Sauerstoff-Stöchiometrie in Mn(III)/Cr(III)-Mischoxiden

Zusammenfassung Es werden ein Verfahren sowie Erfahrungen mit der Bestimmung des Sauerstoffüberschusses in Mangan(III)/Chrom(III)-Mischoxiden beschrieben. Die Proben werden in zugeschmolzenen Ampullen mit SalzsÄure in Gegenwart von Eisen(II/III)-ionen aufgelöst. Sauerstoffüberschu\ wird durch Titration von Fe(II) mit Cer(IV)-salz in Gegenwart von Ferroin als Indicator bestimmt.

Summary The sodium, ammonium, and lead(II) salts of the novel vanadyl(IV) complex bis(benzylmalonato)aquaoxovanadium(IV) have been prepared for the first time. Summary Thorium(IV) facilitates the reduction of bismuth(III)-ethylenediaminetetraacetate chelate in weakly acidic medium and gives a new wave at a more positive potential, because the EDTA anion liberated by the reduction will be caught immediately by thorium(IV) ion. The height of the substitution reduction wave is proportional to the concentration of thorium(IV) between 0.1 and 0.6 mM. Properties of the wave and the electrode process were investigated.

Tast-Polarographische Bestimmung von Thorium(IV) mit Hilfe der Substitutionsreduktion des Wismut(III)-Äthylendiamintetraacetat-Chelats

Zusammenfassung Thorium(IV) erleichtert die Reduktion des Wismut(III)-ÄDTE-Chelats in schwach sauerem Medium und gibt eine neue Welle bei positiverem Potential, da das durch die Reduktion freigesetzte ÄDTE-Anion vom Thorium(IV)-Ion sofort ergriffen wird. Die Höhe der Substitutionsreduktionswelle ist zwischen 0,1 und 0,6 mM der Thorium(IV)-Konzentration proportional. Eigenschaften der Welle und der Elektrodenvorgang wurden untersucht.

Reduction of tri(hetero)arylcarbinols to tri(hetero)arylmethanes

Summary A series of seven new tri(hetero)arylmethanes has been prepared by reduction of the corresponding carbinols using a mixture of lithium aluminium hydride/aluminium trichloride. The yields are excellent (77–98%) except in the case of the tri(2-benzothienyl)derivative (41%).¹H NMR spectra are discussed.

Zusammenfassung Durch die Reduktion der entsprechenden Carbinole mit Lithium-aluminiumhydrid/Aluminiumchlorid wurden sieben neue Tri(hetero)arylmethane in sehr guten Ausbeuten (77–98%) hergestellt. Eine Ausnahme bildet das Tri-(2-benzothienyl)-Derivat mit 41%. Die¹H-NMR-Spektren werden diskutiert.

Summary Complexes of cadmium(II) with cytosine obtained from aqueous or physiological solutions at room temperature are reported. The complexes were characterized by spectroscopic, conductometric,¹H-NMR, and¹³C-NMR measurements and also by thermogravimetry.
