A triangular grid graph is a finite induced subgraph of the infinite graph associated with the two-dimensional triangular grid. In 2000, Reay and Zamfirescu showed that all 2-connected, linearly-convex triangular grid graphs (with the exception of one of them) are hamiltonian. The only exception is a graph D which is the linearly-convex hull of the Star of David. We extend this result to a wider class of locally connected triangular grid graphs. Namely, we prove that all connected, locally connected triangular grid graphs (with the same exception of graph D) are hamiltonian. Moreover, we present a sufficient condition for a connected graph to be fully cycle extendable. We also show that the problem Hamiltonian Cycle is NP-complete for triangular grid graphs.  相似文献

A natural topic of algebraic graph theory is the study of vertex transitive graphs. In the present article, we investigate locally 3‐transitive graphs of girth 4. Taking our former results on locally symmetric graphs of girth 4 as a starting point, we show what properties are retained if we weaken the requirement of local symmetry to local 3‐transitivity.  相似文献

We classify the family of connected, locally symmetric graphs of girth 4 (finite and infinite). They are all regular, with the exception of the complete bipartite graph . There are, up to isomorphism, exactly four such k‐regular graphs for every , one for , two for , and exactly three for every infinite cardinal k. In the last paragraph, we consider locally symmetric graphs of girth >4.  相似文献

A grid drawing of a plane graph G is a drawing of G on the plane so that all vertices of G are put on plane grid points and all edges are drawn as straight line segments between their endpoints without any edge-intersection. In this paper we give a very simple algorithm to find a grid drawing of any given 4-connected plane graph G with four or more vertices on the outer face. The algorithm takes time O(n) and yields a drawing in a rectangular grid of width \lceil n/2 \rceil - 1 and height \lfloor n/2\rfloor if G has n vertices. The algorithm is best possible in the sense that there are an infinite number of 4-connected plane graphs, any grid drawings of which need rectangular grids of width \lceil n/2 \rceil - 1 and height \lfloor n/2\rfloor . Are there nonconstant bounded harmonic functions on an infinite locally finite network under natural transition conditions as continuity at the ramification nodes and classical Kirchhoff conditions at all vertices? We present sufficient criteria for such a network to be a Liouville space, while we show that a large class of infinite trees admit infinitely many linearly independent bounded harmonic functions. Finally, we show that the standard unit cube grid graphs and some of Kepler’s plane tiling graphs are Liouville spaces.  相似文献

Computational meshes for numerical simulation frequently show—at least locally—a structure resembling a triangulated grid. Our goal is to recognize product-like structures in triangular meshes. We define triangulated Cartesian products of graphs and analyze their structural properties. We show how to recognize and factorize graphs that are triangulated products of two factors, when the factors are triangle-free graphs. We also discuss properties of products with more than two factors.  相似文献

When can a unimodular random planar graph be drawn in the Euclidean or the hyperbolic plane in a way that the distribution of the random drawing is isometry-invariant? This question was answered for one-ended unimodular graphs in Benjamini and Timar, using the fact that such graphs automatically have locally finite (simply connected) drawings into the plane. For the case of graphs with multiple ends the question was left open. We revisit Halin's graph theoretic characterization of graphs that have a locally finite embedding into the plane. Then we prove that such unimodular random graphs do have a locally finite invariant embedding into the Euclidean or the hyperbolic plane, depending on whether the graph is amenable or not.  相似文献

We study subclasses of grid intersection graphs from the perspective of order dimension. We show that partial orders of height two whose comparability graph is a grid intersection graph have order dimension at most four. Starting from this observation we provide a comprehensive study of classes of graphs between grid intersection graphs and bipartite permutation graphs and the containment relation on these classes. Order dimension plays a role in many arguments.  相似文献

It is proved that results from a previous paper of the author on symmetrical 2-extensions of graphs can be extended to symmetrical p-extensions of graphs for any prime p. In particular, it is proved that, for any prime p, there are only finitely many symmetrical p-extensions of a locally finite graph with an abelian subgroup of finite index in its automorphism group. Some refinements of these results are also obtained. In addition, we consider the question on the possibility to represent symmetrical extensions of a d-dimensional grid (and similar graphs) in the d-dimensional affine Euclidean space in such a way that a corresponding vertex-transitive group of automorphisms of the extension is induced by some crystallographic group of motions of the space.  相似文献

In this paper we consider special subdivisions ofK 4 in which some of the edges are left undivided. A best possible extremal-result for the case where the edges of a Hamiltonian path are left undivided is obtained. Moreover special subdivisions as subgraphs of 4-chromatic graphs are studied. Our main-result on 4-chromatic graphs says that any 4-critical graphG contains an odd cycleC without diagonals such thatG-V (C) is connected.  相似文献

Pegged tilings localize the defining property of or Laguerre tilings, and, like them, admit a natural duality (corresponding to the Delaunay tilings of tilings). It can thus be shown that the projection method, which is generally used to construct quasi-periodic tilings related to tilings of higher dimensional lattices, applies to this wider class of tilings. Of further importance is that pegged tilings are just those which can be lifted to the graphs of convex functions with a certain strong locally polyhedrality property. The context of convex functions also provides a direct way of viewing the projection method, and leads to alternative pictures of special cases such as various grid methods.  相似文献

In this paper we present an extensive experimental study comparing four general-purpose graph drawing algorithms. The four algorithms take as input general graphs (with no restrictions whatsoever on connectivity, planarity, etc.) and construct orthogonal grid drawings, which are widely used in software and database visualization applications. The test data (available by anonymous ftp) are 11,582 graphs, ranging from 10 to 100 vertices, which have been generated from a core set of 112 graphs used in “real-life” software engineering and database applications. The experiments provide a detailed quantitative evaluation of the performance of the four algorithms, and show that they exhibit trade-offs between “aesthetic” properties (e.g., crossings, bends, edge length) and running time.  相似文献

Directed graphs with random black and white colourings of edges such that the colours of edges from different vertices are mutually independent are called locally dependent random graphs. Two random graphs are equivalent if they cannot be distinguished from percolation processes on them if only the vertices are seen. A necessary and sufficient condition is given for when a locally dependent random graph is equivalent to a product random graph; that is one in which the edges can be grouped in such a way that within each group the colours of the edges are equivalent and between groups they are independent. As an application the random graph corresponding to a spatial general epidemic model is considered.  相似文献

Grid Embedding of 4-Connected Plane Graphs   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A straight line grid embedding of a plane graph G is a drawing of G such that the vertices are drawn at grid points and the edges are drawn as nonintersecting straight line segments. In this paper we show that if a 4-connected plane graph G has at least four vertices on its external face, then G can be embedded on a grid of size such that and , where n is the number of vertices of G. Such an embedding can be computed in linear time. Received March 30, 1995, and in revised form January 3, 1996.  相似文献

The subject of this paper are infinite, locally finite, vertex-transitive median graphs. It is shown that the finiteness of the Θ-classes of such graphs does not guarantee finite blocks. Blocks become finite if, in addition, no finite sequence of Θ-contractions produces new cut-vertices. It is proved that there are only finitely many vertex-transitive median graphs of given finite degree with finite blocks. An infinite family of vertex-transitive median graphs with finite intransitive blocks is also constructed and the list of vertex-transitive median graphs of degree four is presented. Deciding whether a planar graph (even of maximum degree 4) is 3-colorable is NP-complete. Determining subclasses of planar graphs being 3-colorable has a long history, but since Grötzsch’s result that triangle-free planar graphs are such, most of the effort was focused to solving Havel’s and Steinberg’s conjectures. In this paper, we prove that every planar graph obtained as a subgraph of the medial graph of any bipartite plane graph is 3-choosable. These graphs are allowed to have close triangles (even incident), and have no short cycles forbidden, hence representing an entirely different class than the graphs inferred by the above mentioned conjectures.  相似文献

A graph is called locally homogeneous if the subgraphs induced at any two points are isomorphic. in this Note we give a method for constructing locally homogeneous graphs from groups. the graphs constructable in this way are exactly the locally homogeneous graphs with a point symmetric universal cover. As an example we characterize the graphs that are locally n-cycles.  相似文献
