Aqueous iodination of trans-2-butenoic acid proceeds via hydrolysis of I2 to form HOI and I?, then rapid addition of HOI across the double bond to form the iodohydrin product. In the presence of iodate to keep iodide concentration low, the reaction proceeds at a conveniently measurable rate. The rate for the addition reaction is ?d[C4H6O2]/dt = 5900 [H+][C4H6O2][HOI]M/s at 25.0°C when [IO] = 0.025M and ionic strength = 0.3. The overall rate law in the presence of iodate is where [H+] and [IO] are total concentrations used to prepare the solution.  相似文献

Ultraviolet absorption spectra have been characterized for the acetyl-h3 and acetyl-d3 radicals, which were generated by the flash photolysis of the corresponding acetones. The spectra are broad and intense, with values of the extinction coefficient at the respective maxima estimated as: ?CH3CO(215) = (1.0 ± 0.1) × 104 L/mol·cm and ?CD3CO(207.5) = (1.0 ± 0.05) × 104 L/mol·cm. Rate constants for the reactions of mutual interaction were estimated as: k = 3.5 × 1010 L/mol·s and k = 3.4 × 1010 L/mol·s. Rate constants for the reactions of cross interaction were estimated as: k = 8.6 × 1010 L/mol·s and k = 5.2 × 1010 L/mol·s. The related values of the cross interaction ratios k/(kk)1/2 = 2.6 and k/(kk)1/2 = 1.6 do not differ significantly from the statistical value of 2. The participation of the radical displacement reactions was estimated in terms of the fractions k/k = 0.38 and k/k = 0.47. Corroborative spectra were obtained from the flash photolysis of methyl ethyl ketone and biacetyl, and the relative rates of the competing primary processes were estimated from the relative peak heights of the acetyl and methyl radicals in each system.  相似文献

The hexacyanoferrate(III)-thallium(I) reaction in aqueous acetic acid containing large concentrations of hydrochloric acid is considerably accelerated both by hydrogen and chloride ions as well as increasing acetic acid in the medium. The experimental results obey the rate law (1) where β1 to β6 are the cumulative stability constants of the species TlCl, TlCl, TlCl, HFe(CN), H2Fe(CN) and H3Fe(CN)6 respectively and ka and kb are the rate constants associated with the mono- and di-protonated oxidant species. The main active species are H2Fe(CN) and TlCl.  相似文献

Aqueous sols of TiO2 (anatase, particle radius 25 Å) were excited with (347.1 nm)-laser light and the reaction of valence-band holes with halide ions (X = I?, Br?, Cl?) was investigated. Hole transfer takes place within the duration of the (10 ns)-laser pulse and results in the formation of anion radicals according to the sequence: The quantum yield of X increases in the order Cl < Br < I, attaining 0.8 for I at pH 1. It is affected by pH, halide concentration and the presence of a protective agent for the sol. RuO2 deposited onto TiO2 enhances markedly Cl and Br -formation, but has no effect on the yield of I. Laser-photolysis investigation of halide oxidation were also carried out with colloidal Fe2O3 (particle radius 600 Å). For I2?formation, the quantum yield exceeds 0.9 indicating almost quantitative hole scavenging by iodide.  相似文献

A kinetic study has been made of the gas phase, I2-catalyzed decomposition of (CH3)2S at 630–650 K. Some I2 is consumed initially, reaching a steady-state concentration. The initial major products are CH4 and CH2S together with small amounts of CH3SCH2I, CH3I, HI, and CS2. The initial reaction corresponds to a pseudo-equilibrium: accompanied by: and which brings (I2) into steady state and a final complex reaction: From the initial rate of I2 loss it is possible to obtain Arrhenius parameters for the iodination: We measure k1, (644 K) = 150 L/mol s and from both the Arrhenius plot and independent estimates A1 (644 K) = 1011.2 ± 0.3 L/mol s. Thus, E1 = 26.7 ± 1 kcal/mol. From the steady-state I2 concentration, an assumed mechanism and the known rate parameters for the CH3I/HI system. It is possible to deduce KA (644) = 3.8 × 10?2 with an uncertainty of a factor of 2. Using an estimated ΔS (644) = 4.2 ± 1.0 e.u. we find ΔHA (644) = 7.0 ± 1.1 kcal. With 〈ΔCPA〉644 = 1.2 this becomes: ΔHA(298) = 6.6 ± 1.1 kcal/mol. Then ΔH (CH3SCH2I) = 6.3 ± 1 kcal/mol. Making the assumption that E?1 = 1.0 ± 0.5 kcal/mol we find ΔH (644) = 25.7 ± 0.7 kcal/mol and with 〈ΔCPI〉 = 1.2; ΔH = 25.3 ± 0.8 kcal/mol. This gives ΔH (CH3S?H2) = 35.6 ± 1.0 kcal/mol and DH (CH3SCH2? H) = 96.6 ± 1.0 kcal/mol. This then yields Eπ(CH2S) = 52 ± 3 kcal. From the observed rate of pressure increase in the system and the preceding data k3, is calculated for the step CH3SCH2 → CH3 + CH2S. From an estimated A-factor E3 is deduced and from the overall thermochemistry values for k?3 and E?3. A detailed mechanism is proposed for the I-atom catalyzed conversion of CH2S to CS2 + CH4.  相似文献

An ab initio LCAO-MO-SCF calculation was made on the proton affinity (PA ) of methylsilane (CH3SiH3) by using STO -3G, MIDI -1, and MIDI -1* basis sets. Three types of protonated methylsilane are taken into account, and their geometrical parameters are optimized. The calculated PA of CH3SiH3 is 160.5 kcal/mol, which exceeds that of SiH4 by 11.5 kcal/mol. The protonated species (I) which refers to Si—C bond protonation is shown to be most favorable, and to be a weak σ-complex between CH4 and SiH. Other two species are also σ-complexes between H2 molecule and SiH3CH or CH3SiH, and similar to CH, SiH, GeH, and C2H.  相似文献

The time constant, τ, is determined from the tail of an authentic HPLC peak through a plot of In U versus time, t, according to the relation expected at low recorder deflexions, U. The value obtained, τ = 2.43 s, is one order of magnitude larger than an ordinary recorder time constant, which is quite normal for LC detectors. It agrees with the value, τ = 2.44 s, needed theoretically to distort a Gaussian-shaped peak so as to obtain the experiment-ally found second moment, σ2 = 11.13 s,2 and the experimental difference between first moment t and peak retention time tmax, t – tmax = 0.78 s. The determination is therefore regarded as a demonstration of the variance addition rule where σ is the second moment of the non-distorted peak. The column contribution version is also considered. This equation was appliied earlier to an estimation of extra-column contributions to band broadening with the aid of the “abt” concept. An explicitly k-(capacity ratio)-dependent expression for the mass exchange contribution, σ is derived from Golay's equation for capillary columns, but the validity of the Golay equation is under discussion.  相似文献

The n ionization energies I and the gas-phase basicities GB of CH3-, Cl-, or CN-substituted quinuclidines have been measured by PE and ICR spectroscopy. The dependence of the shifts ΔI and ΔGB (relative to the values of the parent molecule) allow conclusions about the charge dispersal accompanying the n ionization or the protonation of quinuclidine in the gas phase. The agreement with the results of a minimal basis set ab initio calculation is excellent. Comparison of the solution pKa values with either I or GB reveals that 2-substituted quinuclidines exhibit sizeable solvent-induced proximity effects, i.e. that the corresponding quinuclidinium ions are more acidic in solution than expected on the basis of the gas-phase basicities. This agrees with earlier results concerning 2-substituted pyridines.  相似文献

The gas phase reactions of PhCOOCH3 with I2 and Br2 were studied spectrophotometrically in a static system over the temperature ranges 344–359° and 246–303°, respectively. For each system the initial rate was first order in PhCOOCH3 and half order in halogen as the concentration of PhCOOCH3 was varied from 1.4 to 15.2 torr, that of I2 from 6.2 to 26.4 torr, and that of Br2 from 3.0 to 13.6 torr. The rate-determining step is the extraction of a methoxyl hydrogen atom: Empirical assignment of A-factors for k1 lead to for the I2 system, and to for the Br2 system, where ? = 2.303RT in kcal/mole. Combined with the assumption that E–1 = 1 ± 1 kcal/mole and 2 ± 1 kcal/mole for HI and HBr, respectively, DH (PhCOOCH2? H) calculated from the two systems shows excellent agreement at 100.2 ± 1.3 kcal/mole and 100.1 ± 1.3 kcal/mole. Using a value of δH (PhCOOMe) = –65.6 ± 1.5 kcal/mole obtained from group additivity estimates, δHf,2980 (PhCOOCH2) is calculated to be –16.7 ± 2.0 kcal/mole. Unimolecular decomposition of the Ph(CO)O°CH2 radical was also observed: with a rate constant equal to The abnormally high methoxyl C? H bond strength is discussed in relation to the bonding in ethers, alkanes, and esters.  相似文献

19F NMR Spectroscopic Evidence and Calculation of the Statistical Formation of Mixed Cluster Anions [(Mo6I Cl )F ]2?, n = 0–7, and Preparation of (TBA)2[(Mo6I )F ] The octa-μ3-iodo-hexafluoro-hexamolybdate(2?)ion [(Mo6I)F]2? is prepared for the first time. The system of the 21 innersphere mixed clusters (Mo6ICl)4+, n = 0–7 is formed by exchange of innersphere bound Cli against outersphere bound Ia on tempering solid [(Mo6Cl)I] at 400°C. Prolonged tempering leads to increasing average n values of the mixture, which is converted into the tetrabutylammonium salt (TBA)2[(Mo6ICl)F]. Using increments of chemical shifts and integral peak intensities the 54 19F-nmr signals of the 21 species (compound n = 8 is absent) are assigned and confirmed by the 2 D-19F/19F-COSY spectrum. From the measured intensities the distribution of the different compounds is determined and proves significant deviation from statistical occupation, revealing the preference of isomers with iodine atoms occupying edges of the innersphere cube and discrimination of those sharing diagonals of the faces. Moreover all compounds with n = 3 and 4 are present overaverage in comparison to the others.  相似文献

In order to obtain an analytical expression for the stored energy function W of slightly compressible rubberlike materials, two recent results are used to obtain a unified expression where Γi are a new set of invariants, and H12) is the shear part of the stored energy function which is now assumed to be a separate symmetric function of the modified stretch ratio, λ = λi/I, i.e., Various analytical forms of h(λ) are proposed. Also, a straightforward transformation technique is formulated such that one can easily relate the stress-strain relation in terms of modified stretch ratio λ to the new invariants Γi. Thus, by a combination of the above equations and the transformation technique, one may readily determine the elastic strain energy function of slightly compressible materials from careful measurements of the volume change in multiaxial deformations.  相似文献

The rate of the reaction of aqueous sulfite with the N-chloropeptide N-chloroalanylalanylalanine has been studied as a function of pH, temperature, and ionic strength. The results of this work suggest that the mechanism of the reaction involves the interaction of the neutral chloramine with the three ionic forms of sulfite, SO, HSO, and H2SO3, with the rate of reaction increasing rapidly with increasing protonation. The estimated second-order rate constants for each ionic species as a function of temperature are where the activation energies are in units of cal/mol.  相似文献

Recent work on the spontaneous (= acid-independent) cleavage of the mono-ol cation, i.e. in Cl?/ClO and NO/ClO mixed-electrolyte media has established (by analysis of anion-competition experiments) the existence of reactive ion pairs of the mono-ol cation with Cl? and NO. Their existence must be allowed for in the analysis of the rate data for the acid-induced cleavage (pH 0–1) of the mono-ol cation in these mixed-electrolyte media. Thus, previous data for acidic Cl?/ClO media have been re-interpreted in this work, and new data for NO/ClO media have been analyzed in the same sense. This analysis removes an apparent discrepancy in the orders of magnitude of ion aggregate stability constants between the mono-ol and similar binuclear cations.  相似文献

The kinetics of the gas-phase reaction of 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl iodide with hydrogen iodide has been studied over the temperature range of 525°K to 602°K and a tenfold variation in the ratio of CF3CH2I/HI. The experimental results are in good agreement with the expected free radical-mechanism: An analysis of the kinetic data yield: where θ =2.303RT in kcal/mol. If these results are combined with the assumption that E2 = 0 ± 1 kcal/mol, then one obtains DH (CF3CH2? I) = 56.3 kcal/mol. This result may be compared with DH(CH3CH2? I) = 52.9 kcal/mol and suggests that substitution of three fluorines for hydrogen in the beta position strengthens the C? I bond slightly.  相似文献

Kinetics of the complex formation of chromium(III) with alanine in aqueous medium has been studied at 45, 50, and 55°C, pH 3.3–4.4, and μ = 1 M (KNO3). Under pseudo first-order conditions the observed rate constant (kobs) was found to follow the rate equation: Values of the rate parameters (kan, k, KIP, and K) were calculated. Activation parameters for anation rate constants, ΔH(kan) = 25 ± 1 kJ mol?1, ΔH(k) = 91 ± 3 kJ mol?1, and ΔS(kan) = ?244 ± 3 JK?1 mol?1, ΔS(k) = ?30 ± 10 JK?1 mol?1 are indicative of an (Ia) mechanism for kan and (Id) mechanism for k routes (‥substrate Cr(H2O) is involved in the k route whereas Cr(H2O)5OH2+ is involved in k′ route). Thermodynamic parameters for ion-pair formation constants are found to be ΔH°(KIP) = 12 ± 1 kJ mol?1, ΔH°(K) = ?13 ± 3 kJ mol?1 and ΔS°(KIP) = 47 ± 2 JK?1 mol?1, and ΔS°(K) = 20 ± 9 JK?1 mol?1.  相似文献

The extinction coefficients and the decay kinetics of I and (SCN) have been characterized over the 15–90°C-temperature range. The extinction coefficients of I at 385 and 725 nm were determined to be 10,000 and 2560M?1 cm?1, respectively, based on the extinction coefficient of (SCN) at 475 nm being equal to 7600M?1 cm?1. At these three wavelengths, all extinction coefficients were constant over the temperature range studied. The rate of decay of both I and (SCN) was found to be a function of I? and SCN? concentration, respectively, as well as temperature.  相似文献

The kinetics and equilibria of the reaction: have been studied in the temperature range 298–333 K by using the very low pressure reactor (VLPR) technique. Combining the estimated entropy change of reaction (1), ΔS = 8.1 ± 1.0 eu, with the measured ΔG, we find ΔH = 4.2 ± 0.4 kcal/mol; ΔH(CH3CHOC2H5) = ?20.2 kcal/mol, and DH° [Et OCH(Me)-H] = 91.7 ± 0.4 kcal/mol. We find: where θ = 2.3 RT in kcal/mol. It has been shown that the reaction proceeds via a loose transition state and the “contact TS” model calculation gives a very good agreement with the observed value.  相似文献

The crystal structures of Mn5O8 and Cd2Mn3O8 are determined from single crystal and high resolution X-ray powder data. Both structures have very similar monoclinic unit cells, space group CC2/m, and are isotypic: Hence, the true formula of Mn5O8 is MnMnO8. The crystal structure consists of pseudohexagonal MnIV sheets (bc) with similar oxygen sheets on either side, giving a distorted octahedral coordination to the MnIV. As every fourth MnIV is missing in these “main layers”, their composition becomes Mn3O8, and chains of coordination octahedra linked by common edges become distinct. Above and below the empty MnIV sites are either MnII or CdII completing the composition MnMnO8 or Cd2Mn3O8 respectively. Examples of similar “double layer” structures are given.  相似文献

The thermal decomposition of ethane has been reinvestigated using the single pulse, reflected shock technique. Reflected shock temperatures were corrected for boundary layer-induced nonidealities using the thermal decomposition of cyclohexene as a kinetic standard. The rate constant for the reaction was calculated from the rate of formation of methane under conditions of very low extent of reaction, over a temperature range of 1000–1241 K. Ethane compositions of 1% and 3% in argon at total reaction pressures of 3 and 9 atm were used, and a small pressure dependence of k1 was observed. An RRKM model is described which gives excellent agreement with this and other recent dissociation and recombination rate constant data in light of a recent revision to the thermochemistry of the methyl radical. In the range of 1000–1300 K an RRKM extrapolated k is given by the expression, log k = 17.2 ? 91,000/2.3RT, while at 298 K the calculation gives log k (l/mol sec) = 10.44, where k is calculated from k and the equilibrium constant.  相似文献

The kinetics of the permanganate oxidation of formic acid in aqueous perchloric acid has been studied. The results indicate that this reaction is autocatalyzed by both manganese(II) ion (formed as a reaction product) and colloidal manganese dioxide (formed as an intermediate). The apparent rate constants corresponding to the noncatalytic and autocatalytic reaction pathways are given, respectively, by the following equations The activation energies associated with the true rate constants, ??, ??, ??, ??, ??, and ?? are 37.2, 62.5, 70.9, 52.5, 40.8, and 59.9 kJ mol?1, respectively. The percentage of the total reaction corresponding to each pathway is given for typical experimental conditions. Mechanisms in agreement with the kinetic data are proposed for the six different reaction pathways observed.  相似文献
