The problem of n-\(\bar n\) oscillations for ultracold neutrons confined within a trap is reexamined. It is shown that the growth of the \(\bar n\) component with time is to a decent accuracy given by \(P(\bar n) = \varepsilon _{n\bar n}^2 t_L t\), where \(\varepsilon _{n\bar n}\) is the mixing parameter and t L ~ 1 s is the neutron propagation time between subsequent collisions with the trap walls. Possible corrections to this law and open questions are discussed.  相似文献

The volume average of the nuclear-spin relaxation rate in type-II superconductors,R s, is calculated for magnetic fields slightly below the upper critical field and all mean free paths,l, and temperatures. It is found to be expressible solely in terms of the volume average of the density of states,\(\bar N(\omega )\), where the latter quantity has been determined recently byNeumann for alll. The derivation is based onHelfand andWerthamer's eigen-value equation for the order parameter,Δ. The deviation of\(\bar R_s \) from the relaxation rate in the normal state,R n, is proportional to the quantity\([|\overline {\Delta |^2 } /\Delta _{BCS}^2 (T)]R_n \) (the bar denotes the spatial average). The proportionality factor is found to decrease monotonously as the temperature decreases and/orl increases. This behavior is closely related to the fact that\(\bar N(\omega )\) shows no gap for the excitation energiesω and decreases asl increases, in particular at energiesω close to zero (ω=0 corresponds to the Fermi energy).  相似文献

The 1/N c -power countings for baryon decays and configuration mixings are determined by means of a nonrelativistic quark picture. Such countings are expected to be robust under changes in the quark masses and, therefore, valid as these become light. It is shown that excited baryons have natural widths of \(\mathcal{O}(N_c^0 )\). These dominant widths are due to the decays that proceed directly to the ground-state baryons, with cascade decays being suppressed to \(\mathcal{O}(1/N_c )\). Configuration mixings, defined as mixings between states belonging to different O(3) × SU(2N f ) multiplets, are shown to be subleading in an expansion in \(1/\sqrt {N_c }\) when they involve the ground-state baryons, while the mixings between excited states can be \(\mathcal{O}(N_c^0 )\).  相似文献

Ginzburg-Landau (GL) theory is used to study surface superconductivity for UPt3 for various order parameter symmetries (OPS), andH c3 is found for all principal directions of the surface normal\(\hat n\) and the field [1]. Assuming specular reflection, and allowing for reorientation of the antiferromagnetic symmetry breaking field in the models withE 1g ,E 2g ,E 1u , orE 2u symmetry, the experiments of Keller et al. [2] with\(\hat n = \hat a\) can be qualitatively explained for all OPS except possiblyA 1u B 1u . The implied GL parameters then predict qualitatively different and OPS dependent behavior for\(\hat n = \hat a^* \) and\(\hat n = \hat c\). Study ofH c3 for these surfaces would give strong clues about the OPS of UPt3.  相似文献

In this paper we consider Markov chains \(X^\varepsilon _t\) with transition rates that depend on a small parameter \(\varepsilon \). We are interested in the long time behavior of \(X^\varepsilon _t\) at various \(\varepsilon \)-dependent time scales \(t = t(\varepsilon )\). The asymptotic behavior depends on how the point \((1/\varepsilon , t(\varepsilon ))\) approaches infinity. We introduce a general notion of complete asymptotic regularity (a certain asymptotic relation between the ratios of transition rates), which ensures the existence of the metastable distribution for each initial point and a given time scale \(t(\varepsilon )\). The technique of i-graphs allows one to describe the metastable distribution explicitly. The result may be viewed as a generalization of the ergodic theorem to the case of parameter-dependent Markov chains.  相似文献

We investigate quantum Fisher information (QFI) for s u(2) atomic coherent states and s u(1, 1) coherent states. In this work, we find that for s u(2) atomic coherent states, the QFI with respect to \(\vartheta ~(\mathcal {F}_{\vartheta })\) is independent of φ, the QFI with respect to \(\varphi (\mathcal {F}_{\varphi })\) is governed by ??. Analogously, for s u(1,1) coherent states, \(\mathcal {F}_{\tau }\) is independent of φ, and \(\mathcal {F}_{\varphi }\) is determined by τ. Particularly, our results show that \(\mathcal {F}_{\varphi }\) is symmetric with respect to ?? = π/2 for s u(2) atomic coherent states. And for s u(1,1) coherent states, \(\mathcal {F}_{\varphi }\) also possesses symmetry with respect to τ = 0.  相似文献

The new mesons X(3940) and X(4160) have been found by Belle Collaboration in the processes \(e^+e^-\rightarrow J/\psi D^{(*)}{\bar{D}}^{(*)}\). Considering X(3940) and X(4160) as \(\eta _c(3S)\) and \(\eta _c(4S)\) states, the two-body open charm OZI-allowed strong decay of \(\eta _c(3S)\) and \(\eta _c(4S)\) are studied by the improved Bethe–Salpeter method combined with the \(^3P_0\) model. The strong decay width of \(\eta _c(3S)\) is \(\Gamma _{\eta _c(3S)}=(33.5^{+18.4}_{-15.3})\) MeV, which is close to the result of X(3940); therefore, \(\eta _c(3S)\) is a good candidate of X(3940). The strong decay width of \(\eta _c(4S)\) is \(\Gamma _{\eta _c(4S)}=(69.9^{+22.4}_{-21.1})\) MeV, considering the errors of the results, it is close to the lower limit of X(4160). But the ratio of the decay width \(\frac{\Gamma (D{\bar{D}}^*)}{\Gamma (D^*{\bar{D}}^*)}\) of \(\eta _c(4S)\) is larger than the experimental data of X(4160). According to the above analysis, \(\eta _c(4S)\) is not the candidate of X(4160), and more investigations of X(4160) is needed.  相似文献

I discuss the recent experimental and theoretical developments following the discovery of the 8+ pentaquark, an exoticuudd \(\bar s\) baryon resonance observed in theKN channel by several experiments, and an exotic Ξ*?? (ddss \(\bar u\)) reported by NA49 at CERN. I focus on the theoretical interpretation of the data, both in terms of quark and chiral degrees of freedom, on the predictions for related exotic states, and on several unresolved questions raised by the experimental data, such as why some experiments observe the pentaquarks and other don't, the apparently extremely narrow width of the Θ+ and the determination of its parity. I also describe the likely properties of the proposed heavy-quark pentaquarks, an anticharmed exotic baryon Θ c uudd \(\bar c\) and Θ b + (uudd \(\bar b\)) which are expected to be extremely narrow or even stable against strong decays. H1 recently reported observation of a possible Θ c candidate inD *? p channel. Pentaquarks are also being searched for ine + e ? annihilation and γγ collisions in the LEP data and atB-factories.  相似文献

Rather than sticking to the full U(3)3 approximate symmetry normally invoked in Minimal Flavour Violation, we analyze the consequences on the current flavour data of a suitably broken U(2)3 symmetry acting on the first two generations of quarks and squarks. A definite correlation emerges between the ΔF=2 amplitudes \(\mathcal{M}( K^{0} \to \bar{K}^{0} )\), \(\mathcal{M}( B_{d} \to \bar{B}_{d} )\) and \(\mathcal{M}( B_{s} \to \bar{B}_{s} )\), which can resolve the current tension between \(\mathcal{M}( K^{0} \to \bar{K}^{0} )\) and \(\mathcal{M}( B_{d} \to \bar{B}_{d} )\), while predicting \(\mathcal{M}( B_{s}\to \bar{B}_{s} )\). In particular, the CP violating asymmetry in B s ψφ is predicted to be positive S ψφ =0.12±0.05 and above its Standard Model value (S ψφ =0.041±0.002). The preferred region for the gluino and the left-handed sbottom masses is below about 1÷1.5 TeV. An existence proof of a dynamical model realizing the U(2)3 picture is outlined.  相似文献

The hypothesis of the smallness of penguin contributions to charmless strangeless \(B_d (\bar B_d )\) decays allows one to determine with high accuracy the value of the angle α from the currently available B → ρρ, B → ππ, and B → πρ decay data.  相似文献

The probability of W-boson decay into a lepton and a neutrino, \(W^ \pm \to \ell ^ \pm \bar \nu _\ell \), in a strong electromagnetic field is calculated. On the basis of the method for deriving exact solutions to relativistic wave equations for charged particles, an exact analytic expression is obtained for the partial decay width \(\Gamma () = \Gamma (W^ + \to \ell ^ + \bar \upsilon _\ell )\) at an arbitrary value of the external-field-strength parameter \( = eM_W^{ - 3} \sqrt { - (F_{\mu \upsilon } q^\upsilon )^2 } \). It is found that, in the region of comparatively weak fields (??1), field-induced corrections to the standard decay width of theW boson in a vacuum are about a few percent. As the external-field-strength parameter is increased, the partial width with respect to W-boson decay through the channel in question, Γ(?), first decreases, the absolute minimum of Γmin=0.926Γ(0) being reached at ?=0.6116. A further increase in the external-field strength leads to a monotonic growth of the decay width of the W boson. In superstrong fields (??1), the partial width with respect to W boson decay is greater than the corresponding partial width \(\Gamma ^{(0)} (W^ \pm \to \ell ^ \pm \bar \upsilon _\ell )\) in a vacuum by a factor of a few tens.  相似文献

Using transfer-matrix extended phenomenological renormalization-group methods, we study the critical properties of the spin-1/2 Ising model on a simple-cubic lattice with partly anisotropic coupling strengths \(\mathop J\limits^ \to = (J',J',J)\). The universality of both fundamental critical exponents y t and y h is confirmed. It is shown that the critical finite-size scaling amplitude ratios \(U = A_{\chi ^{(4)} } A_\kappa /A_\chi ^2 ,Y_1 = A_{\kappa ''} /A_\chi\), and \(Y_2 = A_{\kappa ^{(4)} } /A_{\chi ^{(4)} }\) are independent of the lattice anisotropy parameter Δ=J′/J. For the Y2 invariant of the three-dimensional Ising universality class, we give the first quantitative estimate Y2≈2.013 (shape L×L×∞, periodic boundary conditions in both transverse directions).  相似文献

In this paper, we first define a generalized (f,g)-skew information \(\left |I_{ \rho }^{(f, g)}\right |(A)\) and two related quantity \(\left |J_{ \rho }^{(f, g)}\right |(A)\) and \(\left |U_{ \rho }^{(f, g)}\right |(A)\) for any non-Hermitian Hilbert-Schmidt operator A and a density operator ρ on a Hilbert space H and discuss some properties of them. And then, we obtain the following uncertainty relation in terms of \(\left |U_{ \rho }^{(f, g)}\right |(A)\):
$$\begin{array}{@{}rcl@{}} \left|U_{ \rho}^{(f, g)}\right|(A)\left|U_{ \rho}^{(f, g)}\right|(B)\geq \beta_{(f, g)}\left|Tr\left( f(\rho)g(\rho)[A, B]^{0}\right)\right|^{2}, \end{array} $$
which is a generalization of a known uncertainty relation in Ko and Yoo (J. Math. Anal. Appl. 383, 208–214, 11).

We extend our previous analysis on the mass of the recently discovered \(\Omega (2012)\) state by investigation of its strong decays and calculation of its width employing the method of light cone QCD sum rule. Considering two possibilities for the quantum numbers of \(\Omega (2012)\) state, namely 1P orbital excitation with \(J^P=\frac{3}{2}^-\) and 2S radial excitation with \(J^P=\frac{3}{2}^+\), we obtain the strong coupling constants defining the \(\Omega (1P/2S)\rightarrow \Xi K\) decays. The results of the coupling constants are then used to calculate the decay width corresponding to each possibility. Comparison of the obtained results on the total widths in this work with the experimental value and taking into account the results of our previous mass prediction on the \(\Omega (2012)\) state, we conclude that this state is 1P orbital excitation of the ground state \(\Omega \) baryon, whose quantum numbers are \(J^P=\frac{3}{2}^-\).  相似文献

We consider a model of electrodynamics with two types of interaction, the vector \((e\bar \psi (\gamma ^\mu A_\mu )\psi )\) and axial vector \((e_A \bar \psi (\gamma ^\mu \gamma ^5 B_\mu )\psi )\) interactions, i.e., with two types of vector gauge fields, which corresponds to the local nature of the complete massless-fermion symmetry group U(1) ? U A (1). We present a phenomenological model with spontaneous symmetry breaking through which the fermion and the axial vector field Bμ acquire masses. Based on an approximate solution of the Dyson equation for the fermion mass operator, we demonstrate the phenomenon of dynamical chiral symmetry breaking when the field Bμ has mass. We show the possibility of eliminating the axial anomalies in the model under consideration when introducing other types of fermions (quarks) within the standard-model fermion generations. We consider the polarization operator for the field Bμ and the procedure for removing divergences when calculating it. We demonstrate the emergence of a mass pole in the propagator of the particles that correspond to the field B03BC when chiral symmetry is broken and consider the problems of regularizing closed fermion loops with axial vector vertices in connection with chiral symmetry breaking.  相似文献

We show that a compound Poisson distribution holds for scaled exceedances of observables \(\phi \) uniquely maximized at a periodic point \(\zeta \) in a variety of two-dimensional hyperbolic dynamical systems with singularities \((M,T,\mu )\), including the billiard maps of Sinai dispersing billiards in both the finite and infinite horizon case. The observable we consider is of form \(\phi (z)=-\ln d(z,\zeta )\) where d is a metric defined in terms of the stable and unstable foliation. The compound Poisson process we obtain is a Pólya-Aeppli distibution of index \(\theta \). We calculate \(\theta \) in terms of the derivative of the map T. Furthermore if we define \(M_n=\max \{\phi ,\ldots ,\phi \circ T^n\}\) and \(u_n (\tau )\) by \(\lim _{n\rightarrow \infty } n\mu (\phi >u_n (\tau ) )=\tau \) the maximal process satisfies an extreme value law of form \(\mu (M_n \le u_n)=e^{-\theta \tau }\). These results generalize to a broader class of functions maximized at \(\zeta \), though the formulas regarding the parameters in the distribution need to be modified.  相似文献

We study a quantum spin system on the d-dimensional hypercubic lattice \(\Lambda \) with \(N=L^d\) sites with periodic boundary conditions. We take an arbitrary translation invariant short-ranged Hamiltonian. For this system, we consider both the canonical ensemble with inverse temperature \(\beta _0\) and the microcanonical ensemble with the corresponding energy \(U_N(\beta _0)\). For an arbitrary self-adjoint operator \(\hat{A}\) whose support is contained in a hypercubic block B inside \(\Lambda \), we prove that the expectation values of \(\hat{A}\) with respect to these two ensembles are close to each other for large N provided that \(\beta _0\) is sufficiently small and the number of sites in B is \(o(N^{1/2})\). This establishes the equivalence of ensembles on the level of local states in a large but finite system. The result is essentially that of Brandao and Cramer (here restricted to the case of the canonical and the microcanonical ensembles), but we prove improved estimates in an elementary manner. We also review and prove standard results on the thermodynamic limits of thermodynamic functions and the equivalence of ensembles in terms of thermodynamic functions. The present paper assumes only elementary knowledge on quantum statistical mechanics and quantum spin systems.  相似文献

The \(e^ + e^ - \to b\bar bv\bar v\) process, where υ is an electron, muon, or τ-lepton neutrino, is analyzed in detail for the general form of the coupling constant of a Higgs boson with b quarks, with the (m b /v)(a+Iγ5b) parameterization of the \(Hb\bar b\) interaction. This process is shown to be highly sensitive to this coupling constant. Experiments at the future with \(\sqrt s = 500 - GeV\) linear collider will provide limits of 2 and 20% for deviations of the parameters a and b, respectively, from their Standard Model values. Results concerning the \(e^ + e^ - \to b\bar bv\bar v\) process in combination with the independent measurements of the partial width \(\Gamma _{H \to b\bar b}\) can testify to the CP origin of the Higgs sector of the theory.  相似文献

The Bethe-Salpeter equations for the quark-antiquark composite systems, q\(\bar q\), are written in terms of spectral integrals. For the q\(\bar q\) mesons characterized by the mass M, spin J, and radial quantum number n, the equations are presented for the following (n, M2) trajectories: π J , η J , a J , f J , ρ J , ω J , h J , and b J .  相似文献
