The authors extended the integral equation for a one-component adsorption isotherm on to n-component adsorption from gaseous mixtures. It appears that the n-component adsorption isotherm on heterogeneous surfaces can be presented as a multiple integral. Two methods were used for evaluation of the surface heterogeneity with regard to a gas mixture. The first method is based on the n-dimensional gaussian energy distribution. The second one concerns the extension of our method for studying adsorption systems of high surface heterogeneity. Two-component adsorption systems have been analyzed in details.  相似文献

Hydrogen adsorption (physisorption) on the faujasite-type zeolite Mg-X was studied by means of variable-temperature (80-140 K) FT-IR spectroscopy. Perturbation of the adsorbed H2 molecules by the cationic adsorbing centres of the zeolite renders the H-H stretching mode IR active, at 4065 cm−1. Simultaneous measurement of IR absorbance and hydrogen equilibrium pressure, for a series of spectra recorded at the increasing temperature, allowed standard adsorption enthalpy and entropy to be determined. They resulted to be ΔH0 = −13 kJ mol−1 and ΔS0 = −114 J mol−1 K−1, respectively. Both, spectroscopic and thermodynamic results are discussed in the broader context of corresponding data for hydrogen adsorption on other alkali and alkaline-earth cation exchanged zeolites, showing that, while an approximate correlation exists between ΔH0 and H-H stretching frequency, deviations can be expected for the case of zeolites containing small metal cations.  相似文献

Spent grain, a main by-product of the brewing industry, is available in large quantities, but its main application has been limited to animal feeding. Nevertheless, in this study, spent grain modified with 1 M NaCl solution as a novel adsorbent has been used for the adsorption of Pb(II) in aqueous solutions. Isotherms, kinetics and thermodynamics of Pb(II) adsorption onto modified spent grain were studied. The equilibrium data were well fitted with Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkevick (D-R) isotherm models. The kinetics of Pb(II) adsorption followed pseudo-second-order model, using the rate constants of pseudo-second-order model, the activation energy (Ea) of Pb(II) adsorption was determined as 12.33 kJ mol−1 according to the Arrhenius equation. Various thermodynamic parameters such as ΔGads, ΔHads and ΔSads were also calculated. Thermodynamic results indicate that Pb(II) adsorption onto modified spent grain is a spontaneous and endothermic process. Therefore, it can be concluded that modified spent grain as a new effective adsorbent has potential for Pb(II) removal from aqueous solutions.  相似文献

The use of activated carbon obtained from Euphorbia rigida for the removal of a basic textile dye, which is methylene blue, from aqueous solutions at various contact times, pHs and temperatures was investigated. The plant material was chemically modified with H2SO4. The surface area of chemically modified activated carbon was 741.2 m2 g−1. The surface characterization of both plant- and activated carbon was undertaken using FTIR spectroscopic technique. The adsorption process attains equilibrium within 60 min. The experimental data indicated that the adsorption isotherms are well described by the Langmuir equilibrium isotherm equation and the calculated adsorption capacity of activated carbon was 114.45 mg g−1 at 40° C. The adsorption kinetics of methylene blue obeys the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and also followed by the intraparticle diffusion model up to 60 min. The thermodynamic parameters such as ΔG°, ΔH° and ΔS° were calculated to estimate the nature of adsorption. The activation energy of the system was calculated as 55.51 kJ mol−1. According to these results, prepared activated carbon could be used as a low-cost adsorbent to compare with the commercial activated carbon for the removal textile dyes from textile wastewater processes.  相似文献

The nitrogen-heterocyclic compound 8-hydroxyquinoline (8HQ) is one of the components of coal tar and has a wide variety of uses in industry. Because of its toxicity for aquatic organisms and harmful effects for human health, the removal of 8HQ from aqueous solutions by adsorption onto natural bentonite was investigated in the present work. The experimental results show that the optimum pH value of 2.5 is favourable for the 8HQ adsorption. The experimental data were fitted well with the pseudo-second-order kinetic and Langmuir adsorption isotherm models at all studied temperatures. The maximum adsorption capacity obtained from the Langmuir isotherm model at 20 °C was 120.6 mg g−1. The calculated thermodynamic results such as ΔG° (−24.3 kJ mol−1) and ΔH° (−9.56 kJ mol−1) indicate that the adsorption process is spontaneous and exothermic in nature. Solid phase extraction of 8HQ was also performed. The X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and thermogravimetric (TG) analyses were carried out in order to confirm the 8HQ adsorption onto bentonite. According to the obtained results, natural bentonite can be a reusable and effective adsorbent for the removal of 8HQ.  相似文献

The heterogeneous adsorption and catalytic oxidation of benzene, toluene and o-xylene (BTX) over the spent platinum catalyst supported on activated carbon (Pt/AC) as well as the chemically treated spent catalysts were studied to understand their catalytic and adsorption activities. Sulfuric aqueous acid solution (0.1N, H2SO4) was used to regenerate the spent Pt/AC catalyst. The physico-chemical properties of the catalysts in the spent and chemically treated states were analyzed by using nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm and elemental analysis (EDX). The gravimetric adsorption and the light-off curve analysis were employed to study the BTX adsorption and oxidation on the spent catalyst and its modified Pt/AC catalysts. The experimental results indicate that the spent Pt/AC catalyst treated with the H2SO4 aqueous solution has a higher toluene adsorption and conversion ability than that of the spent Pt/AC catalyst. A further studies of H2SO4 treated Pt/AC catalyst on their catalytic and heterogeneous adsorption behaviours for BTX revealed that the activity of the H2SO4 treated Pt/AC catalyst follows the sequence of benzene > toluene > o-xylene. The adsorption equilibrium isotherms of BTX on the H2SO4 treated Pt/AC were measured at different temperatures ranging from 120 to 180 °C. To correlate the equilibrium data and evaluate their adsorption affinity for BTX, the two sites localized Langmuir (L2m) isotherm model was employed. The heterogeneous surface feature of the H2SO4 treated Pt/AC was described in detail with the information obtained from the results of isosteric enthalpy of adsorption and adsorption energy distributions. Furthermore, the activity of H2SO4 treated Pt/AC about BTX was found to be directly related to the Henry's constant, isosteric enthalpy of adsorption and adsorption energy distribution functions.  相似文献

A new cation exchange resin (PGTFS-COOH) having a carboxylate functional group at the chain end was prepared by grafting poly(hydroxyethylmethacrylate) onto tamarind fruit shell, TFS (a lignocellulosic residue) using potassium peroxydisulphate-sodium thiosulphate redox initiator, and in the presence of N,N′-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) as a crosslinking agent, followed by functionalisation. The adsorbent was characterized with the help of FTIR, XRD, scanning electron micrographs (SEM), and potentiometric titrations. The kinetic and isotherm data, obtained at optimum pH value 6.0 at different temperatures could be fitted with pseudo-second-order equation and Sips isotherm model, respectively. An increase in temperature induces positive effect on the adsorption process. The calculated activation energy of adsorption (Ea, 18.67 kJ/mol) indicates that U(VI) adsorption was largely due to diffusion-controlled process. The values of adsorption enthalpy, Gibbs free energy, and entropy were calculated using thermodynamic function relationships. The decrease in adsorption enthalpy with increasing U(VI) uploading on the adsorbent, reflects the surface energetic heterogeneity of the adsorbent. The isosteric heat of adsorption was quantitatively correlated with the fractional loading for the U(VI) ions adsorption onto PGTFS-COOH. The results showed that the PGTFS-COOH possessed heterogeneous surface with sorption sites having different activities.  相似文献

Linear C3H in its (X2Π) electronic ground state possesses strong Renner-Teller coupling in the two lowest bending modes, ν4 and ν5. The 2Σμ level of the v4 = 1 bending mode is shifted towards lower energies and is supposed to lie only 20.3 cm−1 above the ground state [S. Yamamoto, S. Saito, H. Suzuki, S. Deguchi, N. Kaifu, S. Ishikawa, M. Ohishi, Astrophys. J. 348 (1990) 363]. In the present study, first measurements of ro-vibrational transitions from the 2Π3/2 ground state to the 2Σμ lowest vibrational state were performed using a Terahertz spectrometer equipped with a supersonic jet nozzle. Rotational levels of the 2Π3/2 and v4 = 1(2Σμ) state are close in energy and a crossing of the rotational energy ladders occurs between J = 24.5 and 25.5. A strong vibronic coupling leads to a significant intensity enhancement of 2Π3/2 − 2Σμ ro-vibrational transitions. The search for ro-vibrational transitions was facilitated by measurements on pure rotational transitions in the 2Π1/2, 2Π3/2 and v4 = 1(2Σμ) states, substantially extending the former data set published by Yamamoto et al. Data analysis yields an accurate value for the v4 = 1(2Σμ) energy level which has been found to lie 609.9771(42) GHz or 20.34664(14) cm−1 above the 2Π ground state. Furthermore, the value of the vibronic coupling constant β has been improved significantly and determined as 1231.77(51) MHz. The new set of spectroscopic parameters obtained in the present study permits very reliable frequency predictions into the Terahertz region.  相似文献

This paper reports the 6400-7400 cm−1 Fourier-transform (FT) near-infrared (NIR) emission spectrum of the BiS X22Π3/2 → X12Π1/2 fine structure bands as well as the millimeterwave rotational spectrum of the X12Π1/2 state. For the FTNIR observations, BiS was produced by reaction of bismuth with sulfur vapor and excited by energy transfer from metastable oxygen, O2(a1Δg), in a fast-flow system. As was the case for BiO [O. Shestakov, R. Breidohr, H. Demes, K.D. Setzer, E.H. Fink, J. Mol. Spectrosc. 190 (1998) 28-77], the 0.5 cm−1resolution spectrum revealed a number of strong bands in the Δv = 0 and ±1 sequences which showed perturbed band spacings, band shapes, and intensities due to avoided crossing of the X22Π3/2 and A14Π3/2 potential curves for v ? 4 of X22Π3/2. The millimeterwave rotational spectrum of BiS in its X12Π1/2 state was observed when BiS was produced in a high-temperature oven by a discharge in a mixture of Bi vapor and CS2. The signal to noise ratio was markedly improved by using a White-type multipath cell. Ninety seven features from J′ = 23.5 to J′ = 41.5 were measured between 150 and 300 GHz. Analysis of the 0.5 cm−1 resolution FT spectrum yielded the fine structure splitting and vibrational constants of the states. A simultaneous analysis of millimeterwave and a 0.005 cm−1 FT spectrum of the 0-0 band of the NIR system was carried out to give precise rotational, fine, and hyperfine constants for the X12Π1/2 and X22Π3/2 states. The results are consistent with those reported earlier for BiO and indicate only a slight decrease in the unpaired electron density in the 6p(π) orbital on the Bi atom.  相似文献

We present results of grand canonical Monte Carlo simulations of adsorption in cylindrical pores with rough surface modeled by lattice-site approach. Each site is characterized by two parameters: structural and energetic, which locally modify the structure and energy properties of the surface. There are three types of sites, randomly distributed over the wall: attractive, neutral and repulsive with respect to the smooth pore model. The results presented here show how this model affects the mechanism of adsorption and how it changes the forms of adsorption isotherm. We compare our numerical results with the experimental data of adsorption of a simple fluid (CH4, T = 77 K) in cylindrical silica pore of diameter d = 4 nm (MCM-41 material).  相似文献

The corrosion inhibition of 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol (PAR) on the corrosion of cold rolled steel in 0.5 M sulfuric acid (H2SO4) was studied using weight loss method and potentiodynamic polarization method. Results obtained revealed that together with chloride ion, PAR is an effective corrosion inhibitor for steel corrosion in sulfuric acid. It was found that for steel corrosion inhibition in the presence of single PAR in sulfuric acid the Temkin adsorption isotherm may be used to explain the adsorption phenomenon. For the mixture of PAR and NaCl used as corrosion inhibitor, however, the Langmuir adsorption isotherm can be used to satisfactorily elucidate the adsorption of mixture of PAR and NaCl. Potentiodynamic polarization studies showed that single PAR mainly acts as a cathodic inhibitor for the corrosion of steel in 0.5 M sulfuric acid. The mixture of PAR and chloride ion, however, acts as a mixed type inhibitor that mainly inhibits cathodic reaction of the steel corrosion in sulfuric acid. By means of electrochemical polarization tests, a desorption potential at ca. −370 mV was observed for the adsorption of mixture of PAR and chloride ion, when potential reaches this value, adsorbed inhibitor molecule heavily departs from the steel surface. For the mixture of PAR and chloride ion, thermodynamic parameters such as adsorption heat, adsorption entropy and adsorption free energy were obtained from experimental data of the temperature studies of the inhibition process at four temperatures ranging from 30 to 45 °C, the kinetic data such as apparent activation energies and pre-exponential factors at different concentrations of the inhibitor were calculated, and the effect of the apparent activation energies and pre-exponential factors on the corrosion rates of cold rolled steel was discussed. The most suitable range of inhibitor concentration was discussed. The inhibitive action was satisfactorily explained by using both thermodynamic and kinetic models. Synergism between chloride ion and PAR was proposed. The results obtained from weight loss and potentiodynamic polarization were in good agreement.  相似文献

The inhibition of the corrosion of carbon steel in 1 M HClO4 by 2-mercapto-1-methylimidazole (MMI) has been investigated in relation to the concentration of the inhibitor as well as the temperature using weight loss and electrochemical measurements. The effect of the temperature on the corrosion behaviour with addition of different concentrations of MMI was studied in the temperature range 30-60 °C. Polarization curves reveal that MMI is a mixed type inhibitor. The inhibition efficiency of MMI is temperature independent but increases with the inhibitor concentration. Changes in impedance parameters (charge transfer resistance, Rt, and double-layer capacitance, Cdl) were indicative of adsorption of MMI on the metal surface, leading to the formation of a protective film. Adsorption of MMI on the carbon steel surface is found to obey the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Some thermodynamic functions of dissolution and adsorption processes were also determined. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) of the carbon steel indicated that MMI is chemically adsorbed on the steel surface. Moreover, the electronic properties such as highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO), lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels and molecular orbital densities were calculated.  相似文献

The long wavelength end of the electronic spectrum of CuCl2, between 636 and 660 nm, has been recorded in the gas phase by laser-excitation spectroscopy using a sample prepared at low temperatures (ca. 10 K) in a free-jet expansion. Under these conditions, it is possible to resolve vibrational, rotational, and even Cu hyperfine structure. The (0, 0) band of the E2Πu-X2Πg transition has been identified with an origin at 15546.286(3) cm−1 for 63Cu35Cl2. The observation and analysis of bands involving vibrationally excited levels has allowed the determination of all three vibrational intervals for the E2Πu state (ν1 = 335.88 cm−1, ν2 = 112.42 cm−1, and ν3 = 482.17 cm−1, 63Cu35Cl2). In addition, two other, unrelated transitions have been identified in the same narrow wavelength region. This, combined with the observation of local perturbations of the rotational structure in various bands, reveals the presence of other closely lying electronic states in the same energy region.  相似文献

Enteromorpha prolifera was pyrolyzed to prepare activated carbon using chemical activation by zinc chloride. The effect of activation parameters such as activation temperature, weight ratio (Enteromorpha prolifera to ZnCl2), and activation time was investigated. The BET results showed that the surface area and pore volume of activated carbons were achieved as high as 1722 m2/g and 1.11 cm3/g, respectively, in the optimal activation conditions. Batch adsorption studies were carried out to study the adsorption properties of cationic red X-GRL onto activated carbon by varying the parameters like initial solution pH, contact time, and temperature. The kinetic studies showed that the adsorption data followed a pseudo second-order model. The isotherm analysis indicated that the adsorption data could be represented by the Langmuir isotherm model. The Langmuir monolayer adsorption capacity of cationic red X-GRL was estimated as 263.16 mg/g at pH 6.0.  相似文献

We have studied the mutually perturbing 33ΠΩ=0(v = 32, J = 19) ∼ 31ΠΩ=1(v = 6, J = 19) levels of NaK that are coupled together by the spin-orbit interaction. We note that this coupling is nominally forbidden by the ΔΩ = 0 selection rule for spin-orbit perturbations. However 33Π levels labeled by different values of Ω are mixed by rotational coupling; i.e. the 33ΠΩ levels are best described by a coupling scheme intermediate between Hund’s cases (a) and (b). Thus the 31ΠΩ=1 level couples to the 33ΠΩ=0 level via the small admixture of 33ΠΩ=1 character in the latter. The 33ΠΩ=0(v = 32, J = 19) ∼ 31ΠΩ=1(v = 6, J = 19) f symmetry pair is of particular interest since it appears to be very close to a 50-50 mixture of triplet and singlet character, and the splitting between these levels provides a direct measure of the 33Π ∼ 31Π spin-orbit coupling constant. On the other hand, excitation spectra of the 33ΠΩ=0(v = 32, J = 19) ∼ 31ΠΩ=1(v = 6, J = 19) e symmetry pair through the mixed “window” levels 1(b)3ΠΩ=0(v = 17, J = 18, 20) ∼ 2(A)1Σ+(v = 18, J = 18, 20) display dramatic quantum interference effects associated with “singlet” and “triplet” excitation channels. Almost complete cancellation for populating one or the other of the two upper states is observed for excitation from the predominantly triplet members of the window level pairs.  相似文献

The visible electronic spectrum of AuO has been recorded at rotational resolution using intracavity laser absorption spectroscopy. Five vibrational bands have been analyzed and assigned as the (0, 0), (1, 0), (2, 0), (3, 0), and (4, 0) bands of the b4Π3/2-X2Π3/2 transition of AuO. This study examines the use of some 4H-triazole derivatives, namely 3,5-diphenyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole (DHT), 3,5-bis(4-pyridyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazole (4-PHT) and 3,5-bis(4-methyltiophenyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazole (4-MTHT) for corrosion and dissolution protection of mild steel in normal hydrochloric acid solution. The inhibiting efficiency of the different additives is evaluated by means of weight loss and electrochemical techniques such as ac impedance measurements and polarisation curves. The experimental results obtained reveal that 4-MTHT is the best effective inhibitor and the inhibition efficiency is found to be in the following order: 4-MTHT > 4-PHT > DHT. The variation in inhibitive efficiency mainly depends on the type and nature of the substituents present in the inhibitor molecule. Polarisation curves show that theses triazoles are mixed-type inhibitors in 1 M HCl. The inhibition efficiency increases with 4H-triazole derivatives concentration and attains the maximum value of 99.6% in the case of 4-MTHT at 5 × 10−4 M. The results obtained from weight loss electrochemical studies were in reasonable agreement. The adsorption of 4H-triazole derivatives on the steel surface obeys to the Langmuir isotherm model. The thermodynamic data of adsorption and activation are determined and discussed. The fundamental thermodynamic functions were used to glean important information about the 4H-triazoles inhibitory behaviour. Molecular modeling was used to get better insight, about structural and electronic effects in relation to the inhibition efficiencies.  相似文献

The exact formulation of the kinetic of dimer in hypercubic lattices is developed in the framework of the kinetic lattice gas model. The so-called local evolution rules are used to obtain the hierarchy of equation of motion for the correlation functions where processes like adsorption and desorption are included. The hierarchy of equations are truncated using a mean field (mn) closures which allows the analytical treatment of the system. A general expression for non-interacting dimer isotherm and two particle correlation functions are obtained in hypercubic lattices.  相似文献

Electronic structure and spectroscopic properties of the low-lying electronic states of the SiC radical have been determined from the ab initio based configuration interaction calculations. Potential energy curves of 32 Λ-S states of singlet, triplet, and quintet spin multiplicities have been constructed. Spectroscopic constants (re, Te, and ωe) of 23 states within 6 eV are reported and compared with the existing data. The dipole moments (μe) of most of these states at their respective equilibrium bond lengths have been computed. Effects of the spin-orbit coupling on the spectroscopic properties of SiC have been studied. The E3Π state is found to be an important one which has not been studied before. A transition of the type E3Π-X3Π is predicted to take place in the range 25 000-26 000 cm−1. The partial radiative lifetimes for several electric dipole allowed transitions such as A3Σ+-X3Π, B3Σ+-X3Π, C3Π-X3Π, D3Δ-X3Π, E3Π-X3Π etc. have been reported.  相似文献
