First-principles calculations were performed to study the properties of O adsorption on Ni3Al (0 0 1), (0 1 1), and (1 1 1) surfaces using the Cambridge serial total package (CASTEP) code. Stable adsorption sites are identified. The atomic and electronic structures and adsorption energies are predicted. The adsorption sites for O on the Ni3Al (0 0 1) surface are at the 2Ni–2Al fourfold hollow site, whereas O prefers to adsorb at the Ni–Al bridge site on (0 1 1) surface and 2Ni–Al threefold hollow site on (1 1 1) surface. It is found that O shows the strongest affinity for Al and the state of O is the most stabilized when O adsorbs on (0 0 1) surface, while the affinity of O for Al on (0 1 1) surface is weaker than (0 0 1) surface, and (1 1 1) surface is the weakest. The stronger O and Al affinity indicates more stable Al2O3 when oxidized. The experiment has shown that the oxidation resistance of single crystal superalloy in different orientations improves in the order of (1 1 1), (0 1 1), and (0 0 1) surface, suggesting that the oxidation in different crystallographic orientations may be related to the affinity of O for Al in the surface. 相似文献

A quantum modeling of the CO adsorption on illuminated anatase TiO2 (0 0 1) is presented. The calculated adsorption energy and geometries of illuminated case are compared with the ground state case. The calculations were achieved by using DFT formalism and the BH and HLYP. Upon photoexcitation, an electron-hole pair is generated. Comparing of natural population in the ground state and the exited state, shows that an electron is trapped in a Ti4+ ion and a hole is localized in an oxygen ion. The photoelectron helps generation of a CO2 molecule on the TiO2 surface. As shown by optimization of these systems, the CO molecule adsorbed vertically on the TiO2 (0 0 1) surface in the ground state case while the CO molecule made an angle of 134.3° to this surface at the excited state case. Based on the here used model the obtained adsorption energy was 0.36 eV which is in excellent agreement with the reported experimental value. In the present work the C-O stretch IR frequencies are calculated which are 1366.53 and 1423.16 cm−1. These results are in good agreement with the earlier reported works for the surface carbonaceous compounds, and oxygenated carbon species. 相似文献

The adsorption energies of intermediates in CO methanation on the modified Ni3Al(1 1 1) surface and the Ni(1 1 1) surface are calculated using density functional theory. A microkinetic analysis based on the calculated adsorption energies is performed to explain the different kinetics of CO methanation catalyzed by Ni3Al and Ni powders. The electronic structures of different atoms on the modified Ni3Al surface are also presented, and correlate well with the adsorption energies and geometries. 相似文献

Since the development of Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy (STM) technique, considerable attention has been devoted to various molecules adsorbed on various surfaces. Also, a new concept emerged with molecules on surfaces considered as nano machines by themselves. In this context, a thorough knowledge of surfaces and adsorbed molecules at an atomic scale are thus particularly invaluable. The present work describes the first Density Functional Theory (DFT) study of adsorption of CO, CO2 and NO molecules on a BaTiO3 surface following a first preliminary calculation of O and O2 adsorption on the same surface. In the previously considered work, we found that a (0 0 1) surface with BaO termination is more stable than the one with TiO2-termination. Consequently, we extended our study to CO, CO2 and NO molecules adsorbed on a (0 0 1) surface with BaO termination. The present calculation was performed on a (1 × 1) cell with one monolayer of adsorbed molecules. Especially, a series of cases implying CO molecules adsorbed in various geometrical configurations has been examined. The corresponding adsorption energy varies in the range of −0.17 to −0.10 eV. The adsorption energy of a CO2 molecule directly located above an O surface atom (called Os) is of the order of −0.18 eV. The O-C distance length is then 1.24 Å and the O-C-O and O-C-Os angles are 134.0° and 113.0°, respectively. For NO adsorption, the most important induced structural changes are the followings: (i) the N-O bond is broken when a NO molecule is absorbed on a Ba-Os bridge site. In that case, N and O atoms are located above an O and a Ba surface atom, respectively, whereas the O-Ba-Os and N-Os-Ba angles are 106.5° and 63.0°, respectively. The N-O distance is as large as 2.58 Å and the adsorption energy is as much as −2.28 eV. (ii) In the second stable position, the NO molecule has its N atom adsorbed above an Os atom, the N-O axis being tilted toward the Ba atom. The N-Os-Ba angle is then 41.1° while the adsorption energy is only −0.10 eV. At last, the local densities of states around C, O as well as N atoms of the considered adsorbed molecules have also been discussed. 相似文献

The direct and H-mediated dissociation of CO2 on Ni(2 1 1) were investigated at the level of density functional theory. Although formate (HCOO) formation via CO2 hydrogenation was widely reported for CO2 adsorption on metal surfaces, it is found that on Ni(2 1 1) HCOO dissociation into CHO and O is much difficult, while direct dissociation of adsorbed CO2 into CO and O is more favorable. It is also found that the degree of electron transfer from surface to adsorbed CO2 correlates with the elongation of C-O bond lengths and the reduction of the CO2 dissociation barrier. 相似文献

The adsorption of oxygen atoms on Mg3Nd (0 0 1) surface was studied based on density function theory (DFT), in which the exchange-correlation potential was chosen as the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) in the Perdew and Wang (PW91). The most preferred adsorption position was at the top-hollow site. Upon the optimization on top-hollow site with different coverage, it was found that the adsorption energy decreased with oxygen coverage. The density of states analysis showed that obvious charge transfer took place between O atom and the nearest Nd atom and chemical bond formed between O atom and the nearest Nd atom after O adsorption. The result of surface energy as a function of chemical potential change of oxygen indicated the clean Mg3Nd (0 0 1) surface was easy to adsorb oxygen and form 1.00 ML surface. 相似文献

The adsorption properties of CO on experimentally verified stepped Pt3Sn(1 0 2) surface were investigated using quantum mechanical calculations. The two possible terminations of Pt3Sn(1 0 2) were generated and on these terminations all types of possible adsorption sites were determined. The adsorption energies and geometries of the CO molecule for all those sites were calculated. The most favorable sites for adsorption were determined as the short bridge site on the terrace of pure-Pt row of the mixed-atom-ending termination, atop site at the step-edge of the pure row of pure-Pt-ending termination and atop site at the step-edge of the pure-Pt row of the mixed-atom-ending termination. The results were compared with those for similar sites on the flat Pt3Sn(1 1 0) surface considering the fact that Pt3Sn(1 0 2) has terraces with (1 1 0) orientation. The LDOS analysis of bare sites clearly shows that there are significant differences between the electronic properties of Pt atoms at stepped Pt3Sn(1 0 2) surface and the electronic properties of Pt atoms at flat (1 1 0) surface, which leads to changes in the CO bonding energies of these Pt atoms. Adsorption on Pt3Sn(1 0 2) surface is in general stronger compared to that on Pt3Sn(1 1 0) surface. The difference in adsorption strength of similar sites on these two surface terminations is a result of stepped structure of Pt3Sn(1 0 2). The local density of states (LDOS) of the adsorbent Pt and C of adsorbed CO was utilized. The LDOS of the surface metal atoms with CO-adsorbed atop and of their bare state were compared to see the effect of CO chemisorption on the electron density distribution of the corresponding Pt atom. The downward shift in energy peak in the LDOS curves as well as changes in the electron densities of the corresponding energy levels indicate the orbital mixing between CO molecular orbitals and metal d-states. The present study showed that the adsorption strength of the sites has a direct relation with their LDOS profiles. 相似文献

First-principles calculations for the elastic properties of Ni-base model superalloys: Ni/Ni3Al multilayers 下载免费PDF全文
A model system consisting of Ni[001](100)/Ni3Al[001](100) multi-layers are studied using the density functional theory in order to explore the elastic properties of single crystal Ni-based superalloys. Simulation results are consistent with the experimental observation that rafted Ni-base superalloys virtually possess a cubic symmetry. The convergence of the elastic properties with respect to the thickness of the multilayers are tested by a series of multilayers from 2γ′+2γ to 10γ′+10γ atomic layers. The elastic properties are found to vary little with the increase of the multilayer’s thickness. A Ni/Ni3Al multilayer with 10γ′+10γ atomic layers (3.54 nm) can be used to simulate the mechanical properties of Ni-base model superalloys. Our calculated elastic constants, bulk modulus, orientation-dependent shear modulus and Young’s modulus, as well as the Zener anisotropy factor are all compatible with the measured results of Ni-base model superalloys R1 and the advanced commercial superalloys TMS-26, CMSX-4 at a low temperature. The mechanical properties as a function of the γ′ phase volume fraction are calculated by varying the proportion of the γ and γ′ phase in the multilayers. Besides, the mechanical properties of two-phase Ni/Ni3Al multilayer can be well predicted by the Voigt-Reuss-Hill rule of mixtures. 相似文献

To investigate solvent effects, CO and H2 adsorption on Cu2O (1 1 1) surface in vacuum, liquid paraffin, methanol and water are studied by using density functional theory (DFT) combined with the conductor-like solvent model (COSMO). When H2 and CO adsorb on Cucus of Cu2O (1 1 1) surface, solvent effects can improve CO and H2 activation. The H-H bond increases with dielectric constant increasing as H2 adsorption on Osuf of Cu2O (1 1 1) surface, and the H-H bond breaks in methanol and water. It is also found that both the structural parameters and Mulliken charges are very sensitive to the COSMO solvent model. In summary, the solvent effects have obvious influence on the clean surface of Cu2O (1 1 1) and the adsorptive behavior. 相似文献

First-principles pseudo-potential calculations within density-functional theory framework are performed in order to study the structural and electronic properties of nickel adsorption and diffusion on a GaN(0 0 0 1)-2×2 surface. The adsorption energies and potential energy surfaces are investigated for a Ni adatom on the Ga-terminated (0 0 0 1) surface of GaN. This surface is also used to study the effect of the nickel surface coverage. The results show that the most stable positions of a Ni adatom on GaN(0 0 0 1) are at the H3 sites and T4 sites, for low and high Ni coverage respectively. In addition, confirming previous experimental results, we have found that the growth of Ni monolayers on the GaN(0 0 0 1) surface is possible. 相似文献

Ni3Al alloys of nanometer dimensions in the range 10–38 nm could be synthesized by reaction sintering of sol–gel-derived Ni/SiO2 nanocomposite and commercially available micrometer-sized aluminum powder. The sintering was carried out at a temperature of 923 K and a pressure of 2.4 MPa. By a suitable choice of sintering conditions a disordered phase of Ni3Al was stabilized. The disordered phase could be converted to an ordered one by an increase of heat treatment temperature. 相似文献

Surface structures and electronic properties of hypophosphite, H2PO2−, molecularly adsorbed on Ni(1 1 1) and Cu(1 1 1) surfaces are investigated in this work by density functional theory at B3LYP/6-31++g(d, p) level. We employ a four-metal-atom cluster as the simplified model for the surface and have fully optimized the geometry and orientation of H2PO2− on the metal cluster. Six stable orientations have been discovered on both Ni (1 1 1) and Cu (1 1 1) surfaces. The most stable orientation of H2PO2− was found to have its two oxygen atoms interact the surface with two PO bonds pointing downward. Results of the Mulliken population analysis showed that the back donation from 3d orbitals of the transition metal substrate to the unfilled 3d orbital of the phosphorus atom in H2PO2− and 4s orbital's acceptance of electron donation from one lone pair of the oxygen atom in H2PO2− play very important roles in the H2PO2− adsorption on the transition metals. The averaged electron configuration of Ni in Ni4 cluster is 4s0.634p0.023d9.35 and that of Cu in Cu4 cluster is 4s1.004p0.033d9.97. Because of this subtle difference of electron configuration, the adsorption energy is larger on the Ni surface than on the Cu surface. The amount of charge transfers due to above two donations is larger from H2PO2− to the Ni surface than to the Cu surface, leading to a more positively charged P atom in NinH2PO2− than in CunH2PO2−. These results indicate that the phosphorus atom in NinH2PO2− complex is easier to be attacked by a nucleophile such as OH− and subsequent oxidation of H2PO2− can take place more favorably on Ni substrate than on Cu substrate. 相似文献

We attempt to correlate qualitatively the surface structure with the chemical activity for a metal surface, Cr(1 1 0), and one of its surface oxides, Cr2O3(0 0 0 1)/Cr(1 1 0). The kinetics and dynamics of CO2 adsorption have been studied by low energy electron diffraction (LEED), Aug er electron spectroscopy (AES), and thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS), as well as adsorption probability measurements conducted for impact energies of Ei = 0.1-1.1 eV and adsorption temperatures of Ts = 92-135 K. The Cr(1 1 0) surface is characterized by a square shaped LEED pattern, contamination free Cr AES, and a single dominant TDS peak (binding energy Ed = 33.3 kJ/mol, first order pre-exponential 1 × 1013 s−1). The oxide exhibits a hexagonal shaped LEED pattern, Cr AES with an additional O-line, and two TDS peaks (Ed = 39.5 and 30.5 kJ/mol). The initial adsorption probability, S0, is independent of Ts for both systems and decreases exponentially from 0.69 to 0.22 for Cr(1 1 0) with increasing Ei, with S0 smaller by ∼0.15 for the surface oxide. The coverage dependence of the adsorption probability, S(Θ), at low Ei is approx. independent of coverage (Kisliuk-shape) and increases initially at large Ei with coverage (adsorbate-assisted adsorption). CO2 physisorbs on both systems and the adsorption is non-activated and precursor mediated. Monte Carlo simulations (MCS) have been used to parameterize the beam scattering data. The coverage dependence of Ed has been obtained by means of a Redhead analysis of the TDS curves. 相似文献

Electronic and atomic structures of different terminations of the (0 0 1) non-polar orientation of BaZrO3 surfaces have been studied using first-principles calculations. We found that surface energies at both possible surface terminations, BaO and ZrO2, were very close. The (0 0 1)-BaO and (0 0 1)-ZrO2 terminated surfaces have bandgap values smaller than that of a bulk BaZrO3 crystal. In addition, the relative surface stability has been analyzed as a function of chemical environment. 相似文献

Electronic, magnetic and structural properties of atomic oxygen adsorbed in on-surface and subsurface sites at the two most densely packed iron surfaces are investigated using density functional theory combined with a thermodynamics formalism. Oxygen coverages varying from a quarter to two monolayers (MLs) are considered. At a 1/4 ML coverage, the most stable on-surface adsorption sites are the twofold long bridge sites on the (1 1 0), and the fourfold-hollow sites on the (1 0 0) surface. The presence of on-surface oxygen atoms enhances the magnetic moments of the atoms of the two topmost Fe layers. Detailed results on the surface magnetic properties, due to O incorporation, are presented as well. Subsurface adsorption is found unfavored. The most stable subsurface O, in tetrahedral positions at the (1 0 0) and octahedral ones at the (1 1 0) surface, are characterized by substantially lower binding than that in the on-surface sites. Subsurface oxygen increases the interplanar distance between the uppermost Fe layers. The preadsorbed oxygen overlayer enhances binding of subsurface O atoms, particularly for tetrahedral sites beneath the (1 1 0) surface. 相似文献

The corrosion behavior of the intermetallic compounds homogenized, Ni3(Si,Ti) (L12: single phase) and Ni3(Si,Ti) + 2Mo (L12 and (L12 + Niss) mixture region), has been investigated using an immersion test, electrochemical method and surface analytical method (SEM; scanning electron microscope and EPMA: electron probe microanalysis) in 0.5 kmol/m3 H2SO4 and 0.5 kmol/m3 HCl solutions at 303 K. In addition, the corrosion behavior of a solution annealed austenitic stainless steel type 304 was studied under the same experimental conditions as a reference. It was found that the intergranular attack was observed for Ni3(Si,Ti) at an initial stage of the immersion test, but not Ni3(Si,Ti) + 2Mo, while Ni3(Si,Ti) + 2Mo had the preferential dissolution of L12 with a lower Mo concentration compared to (L12 + Niss) mixture region. From the immersion test and polarization curves, Ni3(Si,Ti) + 2Mo showed the lowest corrosion resistance in both solutions and Ni3(Si,Ti) had the highest corrosion resistance in the HCl solution, but not in the H2SO4 solution. For instance, it was found that unlike type 304 stainless steel, these intermetallic compounds were difficult to form a stable passive film in the H2SO4 solution. The results obtained were explained in terms of boron segregation at grain boundaries, Mo enrichment and film stability (or strength). 相似文献

The adsorption of NO molecule on the LaFeO3 (0 1 0) surface was studied using first-principle calculations based on density functional theory. The calculated results indicate that the Fe-top site is the most favorable for NO adsorption. The N-O bond length, Mulliken charge, and the N-O vibration frequency of the NO molecule are discussed after adsorption. The analysis results of the density of the states show that when NO is adsorbed with the Fe-NO configuration, the bonding mechanism is mainly from the interaction between the NO and the Fe d orbit. 相似文献

A Ni3Al coating was prepared by plasma spraying technique on the surface of titanium alloy. Ni-Al mixed powders, coatings and reaction products were investigated by scanning electron microscope, EDS, DSC and XRD. A tight bonding between the coating and the substrate was formed. The X-ray diffraction analysis of the patterns showed that the coating not only had Ni3Al phase, but also had NiO and Al2O3 phase microcontent. Comparing Ni coated Al to Ni3Al at 900 °C, the diffusion was stronger and the diffusion layer was thicker. A minute pore structure was formed at 1200 °C in the front edge of solid-state reaction layer. So Ni3Al restrained the solid-state reaction of the coating with the substrate, and as a whole weakened the entry of oxygen atoms into the substrate and quenched the out-diffusion of titanium. 相似文献

The surface relaxation and surface energy of both the mixed AuCu and pure Cu terminated Cu3Au (0 0 1) surfaces are simulated and calculated by using the modified analytical embedded-atom method. We find that the mixed AuCu termination is energetically preferred over the pure Cu termination thereby the mono-vacancy diffusion is also investigated in the topmost few layers of the mixed AuCu terminated Cu3Au (0 0 1) surface. In the mixed AuCu terminated surface the relaxed Au atoms are raised above Cu atoms for 0.13 Å in the topmost layer. All the surface atoms displace outwards, this effect occurs in the first three layers and changes the first two inter-layer spacing. For mono-vacancy migration in the first layer, the migration energies of Au and Cu mono-vacancy via two-type in-plane displace: the nearest neighbor jump (NNJ) and the second nearest neighbor jump (2NNJ), are calculated and the results show that the NNJ requires a much lower energy than 2NNJ. For the evolution of the energy requirements for successive nearest neighbor jumps (SNNJ) along three different paths: circularity, zigzag and beeline, we find that the circularity path is preferred over the other two paths due to its minimum energy barriers and final energies. In the second layer, the NN jumps in intra- and inter-layer of the Cu mono-vacancy are investigated. The calculated energy barriers and final energies show that the vacancy prefer jump up to a proximate Cu site. This replacement between the Cu vacancy in the second layer and Cu atom in the first layer is remunerative for the Au atoms enrichment in the topmost layer. 相似文献

SiH4 and GeH4 dissociative adsorptions on a buckled SiGe(1 0 0)-2 × 1 surface have been analyzed using density functional theory (DFT) at the B3LYP level. The Ge alloying in the Si(1 0 0)-2 × 1 surface affects the dimer buckling and its surface reactivity. Systematic Ge influences on the reaction energetics are found in SiH4 and GeH4 reactions with four dimers of Si∗-Si, Ge∗-Si, Ge∗-Ge, and Si∗-Ge (∗ denotes the protruded atom). On a half H-covered surface, the energy barriers for silane and germane adsorption are higher than those on the pristine surface. The energy barrier for silane adsorption is higher than the corresponding barrier for germane adsorption. Rate constants are also calculated using the transition-state theory. We conclude that the SiGe surface reactivity in adsorption reaction depends on the Ge presence in dimer form. If the surface Ge is present in form of Ge∗-Ge, the surface reactivity decreases as the Ge∗-Ge content increases. If the surface Ge prefers to be in form of Ge∗-Si at low Ge contents, the surface reactivity increases first, then decreases at high Ge surface contents when Ge∗-Ge prevails. The calculated rate constant ratio of GeH4 adsorption on Si∗-Si over Ge∗-Ge at 650 °C is 2.1, which agrees with the experimental ratio of GeH4 adsorption probability on Si(1 0 0) over Si(1 0 0) covered by one monolayer Ge. The experimental ratio is 1.7 measured through supersonic molecular beam techniques. This consistency between calculation and experimental results supports that one monolayer of Ge on Si(1 0 0) exists in form of Ge∗-Ge dimer. 相似文献
