We consider a nonlinear initial boundary value problem in a two-dimensional rectangle. We derive variational formulation of the problem which is in the form of an evolutionary variational inequality in a product Hilbert space. Then, we establish the existence of a unique weak solution to the problem and prove the continuous dependence of the solution with respect to some parameters. Finally, we consider a second variational formulation of the problem, the so-called dual variational formulation, which is in a form of a history-dependent inequality associated with a time-dependent convex set. We study the link between the two variational formulations and establish existence, uniqueness, and equivalence results.

Summary A new variational formulation of the Dirichlet problem for one elliptic partial differential equation of the second order is established and justified, starting from a non-classical decomposition of the differential operator and the Friedrichs transformation. The variational problem has a unique solution which depends continuously on the right hand side of the given equation and enables to construct mixed finite element models. The Galerkin approximations are vector-functions converging to the cogradient of the solution of the original problem, except one component which tends to the solution itself.  相似文献

We introduce and study a formulation of the inpainting problem for two-dimensional images that are locally damaged. We consider the quad curl problem in smooth and non smooth domains of the space. We first give an augmented variational formulation equivalent to the one from [25] if the datum is divergence free. We describe the singularities of the variational space which correspond to the ones of the Maxwell system with perfectly conducting boundary conditions. The edge and corner singularities of the solution of the corresponding boundary value problem with smooth data are also characterized. In this paper,the Uzawa iteration algorithm is applied to the Stokes problem with nonlinear slip boundary conditions whose variational formulation is the variational inequality of the second kind.Firstly, the multiplier in a convex set is introduced such that the variational inequality is equivalent to the variational identity.Moreover,the solution of the variational identity satisfies the saddle-point problem of the Lagrangian functional ?.Subsequently,the Uzawa algorithm is proposed to solve the solution of the saddle-point problem. We show the convergence of the algorithm and obtain the convergence rate.Finally,we give the numerical results to verify the feasibility of the Uzawa algorithm.  相似文献

随着经济建设的高速发展,各种地下工程大量增加,如水坝和高层建筑的基础、地铁和隧道、水井和油井等。那里,介质中的渗流现象往往是工程单位需要考虑的重要问题。佘颖禾等在《应用数学和力学》第17卷6期中曾经给出了具有自由边界的稳态渗流的变分不等式模式及有限元解。本文中,以抽水井为例,进一步研究了非稳态渗流问题的变分不等式模式及其有限元解法。结果表明,对于非稳态的渗流问题,这种方法同样能避免传统的自由边界的迭代过程,为简单而快速地进行数值分析提供方便。  相似文献

In this paper, we study, via variational methods, the problem of scattering of time harmonic acoustic waves by unbounded inhomogeneous layers above a sound soft rough surface. We first propose a variational formulation and exploit it as a theoretical tool to prove the well-posedness of this problem when the media is non-absorbing for arbitrary wave number and obtain an estimate about the solution, which exhibit explicitly dependence of bound on the wave number and on the geometry of the domain. Then, based on the non-absorbing results, we show that the variational problem remains uniquely solvable when the layer is absorbing by means of a priori estimate of the solution. Finally, we consider the finite element approximation of the problem and give an error estimate.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce and study a new class of extended general nonlinear mixed variational inequalities and a new class of extended general resolvent equations and establish the equivalence between the extended general nonlinear mixed variational inequalities and implicit fixed point problems as well as the extended general resolvent equations. Then by using this equivalent formulation, we discuss the existence and uniqueness of solution of the problem of extended general nonlinear mixed variational inequalities. Applying the aforesaid equivalent alternative formulation and a nearly uniformly Lipschitzian mapping S, we construct some new resolvent iterative algorithms for finding an element of set of the fixed points of nearly uniformly Lipschitzian mapping S which is the unique solution of the problem of extended general nonlinear mixed variational inequalities. We study convergence analysis of the suggested iterative schemes under some suitable conditions. We also suggest and analyze a class of extended general resolvent dynamical systems associated with the extended general nonlinear mixed variational inequalities and show that the trajectory of the solution of the extended general resolvent dynamical system converges globally exponentially to the unique solution of the extended general nonlinear mixed variational inequalities. The results presented in this paper extend and improve some known results in the literature.  相似文献

In this work, we present a novel power penalty method for the approximation of a global solution to a double obstacle complementarity problem involving a semilinear parabolic differential operator and a bounded feasible solution set. We first rewrite the double obstacle complementarity problem as a double obstacle variational inequality problem. Then, we construct a semilinear parabolic partial differential equation (penalized equation) for approximating the variational inequality problem. We prove that the solution to the penalized equation converges to that of the variational inequality problem and obtain a convergence rate that is corresponding to the power used in the formulation of the penalized equation. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate the theoretical findings.  相似文献

The problem of finding a solution to a system of mixed variational inequalities, which can be interpreted as a generalization of a primal–dual formulation of an optimization problem under arbitrary right-hand side perturbations, is considered. A number of various equilibrium type problems are particular cases of this problem. We suggest the problem to be reduced to a class of variational inequalities and propose a general descent type method to find its solution. If the primal cost function does not possess strengthened convexity properties, this descent method can be combined with a partial regularization method.  相似文献

This paper considers a class of vector variational inequalities. First, we present an equivalent formulation, which is a scalar variational inequality, for the deterministic vector variational inequality. Then we concentrate on the stochastic circumstance. By noting that the stochastic vector variational inequality may not have a solution feasible for all realizations of the random variable in general, for tractability, we employ the expected residual minimization approach, which aims at minimizing the expected residual of the so-called regularized gap function. We investigate the properties of the expected residual minimization problem, and furthermore, we propose a sample average approximation method for solving the expected residual minimization problem. Comprehensive convergence analysis for the approximation approach is established as well.  相似文献

We consider a mathematical model which describes the quasistatic contact between a viscoelastic body and a foundation. The material’s behaviour is modelled with a constitutive law with long memory. The contact is frictional and is modelled with normal compliance and memory term, associated to the Coulomb’s law of dry friction. We present the classical formulation of the problem, list the assumptions on the data and derive a variational formulation of the model. Then we prove the unique weak solvability of the problem. The proof is based on arguments of history-dependent variational inequalities. We also study the dependence of the weak solution with respect to the data and prove a convergence result.  相似文献

In this article, a variational formulation for the transmission problem of the fluid–bone interaction is formulated. The formulation is based on a modified Biot system of equations for the cancellous bone together with a boundary integral equation formulation of the pressure in the water. The variational inequality problem with set-valued mappings is very useful in economics and nonsmooth optimization. In this paper, we study the existence of solutions and the formulation of solution methods for vector variational inequalities (VVI) with set-valued mappings. We introduce gap functions and establish necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a solution of the VVI. It is shown that the optimization problem formulated by using gap functions can be transformed into a semi-infinite programming problem. We investigate also the existence of a solution for the generalized VVI with a set-valued mapping by virtue of the existence of a solution of the VVI with a single-valued function and a continuous selection theorem.  相似文献
