In this contribution we up-to-date the status of the PRESS-MAG-O device, a new instrument under commissioning at the INFN designed to perform magnetic and spectroscopic experiments on samples under extreme conditions. The system has been designed to work at SINBAD, the IR synchrotron radiation beamline operational at DAΦNE. The instrument, that is the result of a significant R&D, will allow performing concurrent high harmonic ac magnetic susceptibility measurements and magneto-optic experiments on a sample under high pressure, with a variable DC magnetic field in a wide temperature range. The vacuum vessel has been designed with four crossing windows to allow optical measurements in the transmission geometry on the sample loaded inside a Diamond Anvil Cell. A new superconducting miniaturized micro-SQUID gradiometer has been also developed to detect the low magnetic signal of the sample and a customized optical system has also been designed to perform IR synchrotron radiation experiments.  相似文献

Phase transitions of tetra(isopropylammonium)decachlorotricadmate(II) [(CH3)2CHNH3]4Cd3Cl10 crystal have been studied by infrared, far infrared and Raman measurements in wide temperature range, between 11 K and 388 K. The temperature changes of wavenumber, center of gravity, width and intensity of the bands were analyzed to clarify cationic and anionic contributions to the phase transitions mechanism. The results of investigation showed earlier by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermal expansion and dielectric measurements clearly confirmed the sequence of phase transitions at T1=353 K, T2=294 K and T3=260 K. The current results derived from DSC and infrared measurements revealed additional phase transition at T4=120 K.  相似文献

The phase diagram of zirconium metal has been studied using synchrotron X-ray diffraction and time-of-flight neutron scattering at temperatures and pressures up to 1273 K and 17 GPa. The equilibrium phase boundary of the α-ω transition has a dT/dP slope of 473 K/GPa, and the extrapolated transition pressure at ambient temperature is located at 3.4 GPa. For the ω-β transition, the phase boundary has a negative dT/dP slope of 15.5 K/GPa between 6.4 and 15.3 GPa, which is substantially smaller than a previously reported value of −39±5 K/GPa in the pressure range of 32-35 GPa. This difference indicates a significant curvature of the phase boundary between 15.3 and 35 GPa. The α-ω-β triple point was estimated to be at 4.9 GPa and 953 K, which is comparable to previous results obtained from a differential thermal analysis. Except for the three known crystalline forms, the β phase of zirconium metal was found to possess an extraordinary glass forming ability at pressures between 6.4 and 8.6 GPa. This transformation leads to a limited stability field for the β phase in the pressure range of 6-16 GPa and to complications of high-temperature portion of phase diagram for zirconium metal.  相似文献

Synthesis and characterization of the structural and magnetic properties of a 2-line (2L) ferrihydrite (FHYD) sample based on the composition Fe:Al:Cu=100:25:5 are reported. Typical of 2L-FHYDs, this sample also yields the two broad lines in X-ray diffraction and triplet in the 1400-1700 cm−1 range in IR spectroscopy. However, in transmission electron microscopy, nanoflakes of about 5-20 nm size but without any hint of diffraction fringes characteristic of crystalline order were observed. Temperature dependence (2-380 K) of the magnetization M vs. applied field H (up to ±65 kOe) of this non-crystalline ferrihydrite is used to establish a blocking temperature TB?20 K, Néel temperature TN?365 K and a spin-glass ordering of the surface Fe3+ spins at TS?6 K. These magnitudes of TB and TS are considerably smaller than those of a 5 nm undoped 2L crystalline ferrihydrite with TB=70 K and TS=30 K. The fit of the M vs. H data for several T>TB to a modified Langevin function is shown to collapse onto a universal curve yielding a temperature-independent average magnetic moment μP=70(5)μB per nanoflake. Analysis of these parameters obtained from the fits of M vs. H data above TB is used to show that the effective average volume of the nanoflakes is about 1/3 that of spherical 5 nm crystalline 2L-FHYD. It is argued that these lower magnitudes of μP, TB, and TS for the nanoflakes result from their smaller effective volume determined here.  相似文献

The in situ high P-T X-ray diffraction experiments were conducted at pressures up to 17 GPa and temperatures up to 1273 K to study the phase transformations and equations of state for two grades of zirconium metals. At ambient temperature, our results reveal significant differences in both the transition pressure and kinetics of the α-ω phase transformation between the ultra-pure Zr (35 ppm Hf and <50 ppm O) and impure Zr (1.03 at% Hf and 4.5 at% O). These observations indicate that impurities, particularly oxygen ions, play important roles in the transformation mechanisms as well as crystal stability. On the other hand, impurities have no measurable effects on either the elastic bulk moduli of both α and ω phases or the volume change across the α-ω phase transformation. At elevated temperature, both impure and ultra-pure Zr show similar transition temperatures for the ω-β phase boundary over a pressure range of 6-16 GPa, suggesting that impure oxygen and hafnium ions can only be an α-Zr stabilizer; they do not seem to significantly increase the stability of the ω-Zr relative to the β-Zr.  相似文献

We measured the heat capacity of CeIrSi3 (100 mK<T<6 K) under high pressure up to P=1.38 GPa. The measurements have been used a quasiadiabatic method utilizing a CuBe piston-cylinder pressure cell in a dilution refrigerator. At 0 GPa, a sharp anomaly which indicates the antiferromagnetically transition is observed at TN=5 K. TN decreases monotonically with increasing pressure up to P=1.38 GPa. The magnetic entropy is released below TN only 19% of R ln 2 at 0 GPa. And the magnetic entropy decreases with increasing pressure up to 1.38 GPa, 64% compared to that at 0 GPa.  相似文献

The frequency dependence of the real (?′) and imaginary (?″) parts of the dielectric constant of polycrystalline hematite (α-Fe2O3) has been investigated in the frequency range 0-100 kHz and the temperature range 190-350 K, in order to reveal experimentally the electron hopping mechanism that takes place during the Morin transition of spin-flip process. The dielectric behaviour is described well by the Debye-type relaxation (α-dispersion) in the temperature regions T<233 K and T>338 K. In the intermediate temperature range 233 K<T<338 K a charge carrier mechanism takes place (electron jump from the O2− ion into one of the magnetic ions Fe3+) which gives rise to the low frequency conductivity and to the Ω-dispersion. The temperature dependence of relaxation time (τ) in the −ln τ vs 103/T plot shows two linear regions. In the first, T<238 K, τ increases with increasing T implying a negative activation energy −0.01 eV, and in the second region T>318 K τ decreases as the temperature increases implying a positive activation energy 0.12 eV. The total reorganization energy (0.12-0.01) 0.11 eV is in agreement with the adiabatic activation energy 0.11 eV given by an ab initio model in the literature. The temperature dependence of the phase shift in the frequencies 1, 5, 10 kHz applied shows clearly an average Morin temperature TMo=284±1 K that is higher than the value of 263 K corresponding to a single crystal due to the size and shape of material grains.  相似文献

Magnetization and susceptibility were investigated as a function of temperature and magnetic field in polycrystalline Mn[Cr0.5Ga1.5]S4 spinel. The dc susceptibility measurements at 919 Oe showed a disordered ferrimagnetic behaviour with a Curie-Weiss temperature θCW=−55 K and an effective magnetic moment of 5.96 μB close to the spin-only value of 6.52 μB for Cr3+ and Mn2+ ions in the 3d3 and 3d5 configurations, respectively. The magnetization measured at 100 Oe revealed the multiple magnetic transitions with a sharp maximum at the Néel temperature TN=3.9 K, a minimum at the Yafet-Kittel temperature TYK=5 K, a broad maximum at the freezing temperature Tf=7.9 K, and an inflection point at the Curie temperature TC=48 K indicating a transition to paramagnetic phase. A large splitting between the zero-field-cooled (ZFC) and field-cooled (FC) magnetizations at a temperature smaller than TC suggests the presence of spin-glass-like behaviour. This behaviour is considered in a framework of competing interactions between the antiferromagnetic ordering of the A(Mn) sublattice and the ferromagnetic ordering of the B(Cr) sublattice.  相似文献

In situ high-pressure angle dispersive synchrotron X-ray diffraction studies of molybdenum diselenide (MoSe2) were carried out in a diamond-anvil cell to 35.9 GPa. No evidence of a phase transformation was observed in the pressure range. By fitting the pressure-volume data to the third-order Birch-Murnaghan equation of state, the bulk modulus, K0T, was determined to be 45.7±0.3 GPa with its pressure derivative, K0T, being 11.6±0.1. It was found that the c-axis decreased linearly with pressure at a slope of −0.1593 when pressures were lower than 10 GPa. It showed different linear decrease with the slope of a −0.0236 at pressures higher than 10 GPa.  相似文献

The magnetic behavior of the diluted magnetic semiconductor Cd0.42Mn0.58In2S4 has been study by dc magnetization and ac susceptibility experiments. Zero field cooled and field cooled measurements reveal irreversibility below Tirr=2.60±0.15 K. Ac susceptibility data, performed as a function of the temperature and the frequency, confirm the spin-glass like behavior of the material with Tf=2.75±0.15 K. High temperature susceptibility data follow a typical Curie-Weiss law with θ=−74±1 K which suggests predominant antiferromagnetic interactions. The randomness of the magnetic ions, necessary to explain the magnetic behavior of the material, has been determined by X-ray powder diffraction experiments.  相似文献

Double layered manganite of La1.4Ca1.6Mn2O7 (DLCMO) was prepared using solid state reaction method and had a metal-insulator transition temperature (TMI) of 125 K. The short range 2D-feerromagnetic ordering (TC2) starts growing when T<168 K and it gets converted into 3D-ferromagnetic ordering (TC1) at 114 K. Low field magnetoresistance (MR) behaviour of the DLCMO was investigated and compared with an infinite layered manganite La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 (LCMO). For DLCMO, in the temperature range between TC1 and TC2, the MR showed a gradual increase with the magnetic field. The observed MR and R-T behaviour of double layered manganite for TC1<T<TC2 has been explained in the frame work of the two phase model [ferromagnetic (FM) domains and paramagnetic (PM) regions] and percolative behaviour of transport in FM-PM mixture.  相似文献

We report on large negative magnetoresistance observed in ferromagnetic thiospinel compound CuCrZrS4. The electrical resistivity increased with decreasing temperature according to the exp(T0/T)1/2, an expression derived from variable range hopping with strong electron-electron interaction. The resistivity under a magnetic field was expressed by the same form with the characteristic temperature T0 decreasing with increasing magnetic field. Magnetoresistance ratio ρ(T,0)/ρ(T,H) is 1.5 for H=90 kOe at 100 K and increases divergently with decreasing temperature reaching 80 at 16 K. Results of magnetization measurements are also presented. A possible mechanism of the large magnetoresistance is discussed.  相似文献

The crystal structural, magnetic and electrical transport properties of double perovskite CeKFeMoO6 have been investigated. The crystal structure of the compound is assigned to the monoclinic system with space group P21/n and its lattice parameters are a=0.55345(3) nm, b=0.56068(2) nm, c=0.78390(1) nm, β=89.874(2). The divergence between zero-field-cooling and field-cooling M-T curves demonstrates the anisotropic behavior. The Curie temperature measured from Cp-T curve is about 340 K. Isothermal magnetization curve shows that the saturation and spontaneous magnetization are 1.90 and 1.43 μB/f.u. at 300 K, respectively. The electrical behavior of the sample shows a semiconductor. The electrical transport behavior can be described by variable range hopping model. Large magnetoresistance, −0.88 and −0.18, can be observed under low magnetic field, 0.5 T, at low and room temperature, respectively.  相似文献

The influence of highly diluted impurities (Cu, Mn, Fe, Ni) on the temperature (T) dependence of the specific heat (cp) of l-arginine phosphate monohydrate (LAP) was investigated in the temperature range 1.8-300 K. The doped samples yielded values for cp in excess to those obtained for a pure LAP sample. The melting temperatures (Tm≈420 K) obtained by differential scanning calorimetry for pure and doped LAP samples were found not to be significantly affected by the impurities. The T-dependence of cp was fully accounted for by taking into consideration the Debye contribution, an Einstein term and a contribution due to both Frenkel and Schottky defects. The model fit all cp versus T data using a single value for both the Debye (θD=160 K) and the Einstein (TE=376.8 K) temperatures, and for the energy (εd=157.9 meV) required to create the defects.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline La1−xBaxMnO3 (0.0≤x≤0.3) manganites have been prepared by a simple and instantaneous solution combustion method, which is a low temperature initiated synthetic route to obtain fine-grained powders with relatively high surface area. The phase purity and crystal structure of the combustion products are carried out by powder X-ray diffraction. The as-made nanopowders are in cubic phase. On calcination to 900 °C, barium doped manganites retain cubic phase, whereas barium free manganite transformed to rhombohedral phase. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) results revealed that the combustion-derived compounds are agglomerated with fine primary particles. The doped manganites have surface area in the range 24-44 m2/g. The surface area of the manganites increases with barium content, whereas it decreases on calcination. Both undoped and doped lanthanum manganites show two active IR vibrational modes at 400 and 600 cm−1. The low temperature resistivity measurements have been carried out by four-probe method down to 77 K. All the samples exhibit metal-insulator behaviour and metal-insulator transition temperature (TM-I) in the range 184-228 K and it is interesting to note that, as the barium content increases the TM-I shifts to lower temperature side. The maximum TM-I of 228 K is observed for La0.9Ba0.1MnO3 sample.  相似文献

In this paper we report the effect of microstructural characteristics on the magnetic properties of sol-gel synthesized Mn-doped ZnO. The microstructural characteristics of the samples (e.g., grain sizes and their distribution) have been varied by changing the sintering temperature (TS) and sintering duration (TH). Weak room temperature ferromagnetism (RTFM) has been observed in the samples sintered for ∼8 h at 500, 600, 700, 800 and 900 °C. The ferromagnetic fraction and the saturation magnetization, however, first increase as TS increases from 500 to 600 °C and after that both start decreasing. On the other hand, the samples sintered for ∼12 h at the same temperatures show paramagnetic behavior at room temperature. Field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) results show enhancement in the grain sizes with the increase in both TS and TH. Energy dispersive X-ray (EDAX) results show increase in the oxygen content in the sample with increase in both TS and TH. X-ray diffractometer (XRD) measurements reveal that the basic crystal structure of all the samples corresponds to the wurtzite structure of pure ZnO together with some minor impurities. The correlation between the observed magnetic properties and the microstructural characteristics of the samples has been discussed in this paper.  相似文献

The magnetic and electrical properties of the Al-doped polycrystalline spinels ZnxCryAlzSe4 (0.13≤z≤0.55) with the antiferromagnetic (AFM) order and semiconducting behavior were investigated. A complex antiferromagnetic structure below a Néel temperature TN≈23 K for the samples with z up to 0.4 contrasting with the strong ferromagnetic (FM) interactions evidenced by a large positive Curie-Weiss temperature θCW decreasing from 62.2 K for z=0.13 to 37.5 K for z=0.55 was observed. Detailed investigations revealed a divergence between the zero-field-cooling (ZFC) and field-cooling (FC) susceptibilities at temperature less than TN suggesting bond frustration due to competing ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic exchange interactions in the compositional range 0.13≤z≤0.4. Meanwhile, for z=0.55 a spin-glass-like behavior of cluster type with randomly oriented magnetic moments is observed as the ZFC-FC splitting goes up to the freezing temperature Tf=11.5 K and the critical fields connected both with a transformation of the antiferromagnetic spin spiral via conical magnetic structure into ferromagnetic phase disappear.  相似文献

We have performed scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy (STM/STS) experiments on (1 1 1)-oriented epitaxial films of heavily boron-doped diamond (Tc∼5.4 K). We present that tunneling conductance spectra show temperature-dependent spatial variations. In the low-temperature region (T=0.47 K), the tunneling spectra do not show strong spatial dependence and a superconducting energy gap is observed independent of the surface morphology. In the high-temperature region (T=4.2 K), on the other hand, the tunneling conductance spectra show significant spatial dependence, indicating the inhomogeneous distribution of the superconducting property due to the distribution of boron atoms.  相似文献

X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), density (d) and dc conductivity (σ) of the glasses in Fe2O3-CaO-P2O5 system were reported. The dc conductivity in the temperature range 303-453 K was measured. The overall features of these XRD curves confirm the amorphous nature of the present samples. The density of glasses increases from 2.750 to 2.892 g/cm3 with increasing Fe2O3 content as a result of a strengthening of cross-linking within glass network. The glass temperature values (Tg) of the present glasses were larger than those of tellurite glasses. This indicates a higher thermal stability of the glass in the present system. The glasses had conductivities ranging from 10−9 to 10−5 Sm−1 at temperatures from 303 to 453 K. Electrical conduction of the glasses was confirmed to be due to non-adiabatic small polaron hopping and the conduction was primarily determined by hopping carrier mobility.  相似文献
