The theoretical investigations of the superconducting state parameters (SSP) viz. electron–phonon coupling strength λ, Coulomb pseudopotential μ1, transition temperature TC, isotope effect exponent α and effective interaction strength N0V of binary metallic glasses have been reported using Ashcroft’s empty core (EMC) model potential for the first time. Five local field correction functions proposed by Hartree (H), Taylor (T), Ichimaru–Utsumi (IU), Farid et al. (F) and Sarkar et al. (S) are used in the present investigation to study the screening influence on the aforesaid properties. It is observed that λ and TC are quite sensitive to the selection of the local field correction functions in comparisons with μ1, α and N0V. The TC obtained from H-local field correction function is found in qualitative agreement with available experimental data and show linear nature with the concentration (C). A linear TC equation is proposed by fitting the present outcomes for H-local field correction function, which is in conformity with other results for the experimental data. Also, the present results are found in qualitative agreement with other such earlier reported data, which confirms the superconducting phase in the metallic glasses.  相似文献

Ashcroft’s empty core (EMC) model potential is used to study the superconducting state parameters (SSPs) viz. electron-phonon coupling strength λ, Coulomb pseudopotential μ*, transition temperature T C , isotope effect exponent αand effective interaction strength N O V of some binary metallic glasses based on the superconducting (S), conditional superconducting (S’) and non-superconducting (NS) elements of the periodic table. Five local field correction functions proposed by Hartree (H), Taylor (T), Ichimaru-Utsumi (IU), Farid et al. (F) and Sarkar et al. (S) are used for the first time with EMC potential in the present investigation to study the screening influence on the aforesaid properties. The T C obtained from the H-local field correction function are in excellent agreement with available theoretical or experimental data. In the present computation, the use of the pseudo-alloy-atom model (PAA) was proposed and found successful. Present work results are in qualitative agreement with such earlier reported experimental values which confirm the superconducting phase in all metallic glasses. A strong dependency of the SSPs of the metallic glasses on the valence ‘Z’ is identified.   相似文献

The theoretical investigations of the superconducting state parameters (SSP) viz. electron-phonon coupling strength λ, Coulomb pseudopotential μ*, transition temperature T C , isotope effect exponent α and effective interaction strength N O V of six binary La100-C Ga C (C = 16, 20, 22, 24, 26 and 28 at. %) metallic glasses have been reported using Ashcroft’s empty core (EMC) model potential for the first time. Five local field correction functions proposed by Hartree (H), Taylor (T), Ichimaru-Utsumi (IU), Farid et al. (F) and Sarkar et al. (S) are used in the present investigation to study the screening influence on the aforesaid properties. It is observed that the electron-phonon coupling strength λ and the transition temperature T C are quite sensitive to the selection of the local field correction functions, whereas the Coulomb pseudopotential μ*, isotope effect exponent α and effective interaction strength N O V show weak dependences on the local field correction functions. The T C obtained from H-local field correction function are found in qualitative agreement with available experimental data and show almost linear nature with the concentration (C) of ‘Ga’ element. A linear T C equation is proposed by fitting the present outcomes for H-local field correction function, which is in conformity with other results for the experimental data. Also, the present results are found to be in qualitative agreement with other such earlier reported data, which confirms the superconducting phase in the metallic glasses.   相似文献

The theoretical investigation of the superconducting state properties viz. electron-phonon coupling strength λ, Coulomb pseudopotential μ*, transition temperature T C, isotope effect exponent α and effective interaction strength N 0 V of ten binary CuCZr100-C (C = 25–60 at%) metallic glasses is performed, using Ashcroft’s empty core model potential. Five local-field correction functions proposed by Hartree (H), Taylor (T), Ichimaru-Utsumi (IU), Farid et al. (F) and Sarkar et al. It is shown that the electronphonon coupling strength λ and the transition temperature T C are quite sensitive to the selection of the local-field correction functions, whereas the Coulomb pseudopotential μ*, isotope effect exponent α and effective interaction strength N 0 V show a weak dependence on the local-field correction functions. The values of T C obtained from the H-local-field correction function are found to be in qualitative agreement with available theoretical or experimental data and show almost linear behavior with respect to the concentration C of Cu. The present results are shown to be in good agreement with other available theoretical or experimental data. The obtained results confirm the existence of the superconducting phase in the metallic glasses.  相似文献

The computations of the static and vibrational properties of four equiatomic Na-based binary alloys viz. Na0.5Li0.5, Na0.5K0.5, Na0.5Rb0.5 and Na0.5Cs0.5, to second order in local model potential is discussed in terms of real-space sum of Born von Karman central force constants. The local field correlation functions due to Hartree (H), Ichimaru-Utsumi (IU) and Sarkar et al. (S) are used to investigate the influence of the screening effects on the aforesaid properties. Results for the lattice constants C11, C12, C44, C12-C44, C12/C44 and bulk modulus B obtained using the H-local field correction function have higher values in comparison with the results obtained for the same properties using IU- and S-local field correction functions. The results for the Shear modulus (C′), deviation from Cauchy's relation, Poisson's ratio σ, Young modulus Y, propagation velocity of elastic waves, phonon dispersion curves and degree of anisotropy A are highly appreciable for the four equiatomic Na-based binary alloys.  相似文献

Superconductivity in ternary metallic glasses has been investigated using the model pseudopotential approach, which has been found quite successful in explaining superconductivity in metals, binary alloys and binary glasses. It is observed that this simple methodology successfully explains superconducting behaviour of ternary glasses without requiring the solution of Dirac equation for a many body problem or estimation of various interactions as required in ab-initio pseudopotential theory. In the present work superconducting state parameters of fourteen metallic glasses of (Ni-Zr)-M system (M=Ti, V, Co, Cu) have been determined in the BCS-Eliashberg-McMillan framework. It is observed that addition of V, Co, and Cu as the third element (M) to a binary metallic glass (Ni33 Zr67) causes the parameters λ,T c, α, andN 0 V to decrease, and Coulomb pseudopotential (μ*) to increase with concentration of M, showing that the presence of third element (M) causes suppression of superconducting behaviour of the alloy. The decrease inT c with increasing concentration of third element (M) may be attributed to the modifications in density of states at the Fermi levelN(E F), and probable changes in the band structure of the alloy due to addition of the third element (M). Slight difference is noticed when Ti is added to the Ni33 Zr67 alloy. In this caseT c rises initially and then decreases with concentration of M, showing a peak at aboutx=0.05. This indicates that on addition of Ti, 3d states grow near the Fermi level and hence contribute substantially toN(E F), favouring superconducting behaviour in this case. The present results forT c show an excellent agreement with the experimental data. QuadraticT c equations have been proposed, which provide successfully theT c values of ternary metallic glasses under consideration. The magnetic phase diagram for Mg1−xZnxCyNi3 has been tentatively constructed based on magnetization and muon spin relaxation (μSR) measurements. The superconducting phase was observed to fade as x (y) increases (decreases). The low y samples show early stages of long-range ferromagnetism, or complete long-range ferromagnetism. In the phase diagram, the ferromagnetic phase exists in addition to the superconducting phase, suggesting that there is some correlation between superconductivity and ferromagnetism, even though the coexistence of ferromagnetism and superconductivity is not observed from the μSR measurements down to 20 mK for the superconducting sample (Tc=2.5 K, (x, y)=(0, 0.9)).  相似文献

Undoped T′-type cuprates are believed to be charge transfer (Mott-Hubbard) insulators. Recent observation of undoped superconducting T′-type cuprates suggests half-filling weakly correlated metallic electron states (Tsukada et al.), which is against the fundamental picture. Here we report the local structures of undoped T′-(La3+,Y3+)2CuO4 and doped T′-(La3+,Ce4+)2CuO4 thin-film single crystals by polarized extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAS). The in-plane (E//ab) polarized Cu K-EXAFS data shows a remarkable Cu-O bond distance displacement. The broadened Cu-O distribution suggests a large local lattice distortion in T′-type structures, which might influence the electronic structure.  相似文献

Theoretical computation of the pressure dependence of superconducting state parameters of a binary Ca70Mg30 metallic glass has been performed using the model potential formalism. Explicit expressions have been derived for the volume dependence of the electron-phonon coupling strength λ and the Coulomb pseudopotential μ*, considering the variation of the Fermi momentum k F and Debye temperature θD with volume. Well-known Ashcroft’s empty core model pseudopotential and five different types of the local-field correction functions, namely, Hartree, Taylor, Ichimaru-Utsumi, Farid et al. and Sarkar et al. have been used for obtaining pressure dependence of transition temperature T C and the logarithmic volume derivative Φ of the effective interaction strength N 0 V for the metallic glass superconductor. It has been obtained that T C of Ca70Mg30 metallic glass decreases rapidly with increasing pressure up to 60% decrease in the volume, for which the μ* and Φ curves show a linear nature. The superconducting phase disappears at about 60% decrease in the volume.  相似文献

It is expected that joint existence of ferromagnetic properties and ferroelectric structural phase transition in diluted magnetic semiconductors IV-VI leads to new possibilities of these materials. Temperature of ferroelectric transition for such crystals can be tuned by the change of Sn/Ge ratio. Magnetic susceptibility, Hall effect, resistivity and thermoelectric power of Ge1−xySnxMnyTe single crystals grown by Bridgeman method (x=0.083-0.115; y=0.025-0.124) were investigated within 4.2-300 K. An existence of FM ordering at TC∼50 K probably due to indirect exchange interaction between Mn ions via degenerated hole gas was revealed. A divergence of magnetic moment temperature dependences at T?TC in field-cooled and zero-field-cooled regimes is obliged to magnetic clusters which are responsible for superparamagnetism at T>TCTf (freezing temperature) and become ferromagnetic at TC arranging spin glass state at T<TfTC. Phase transition of ferroelectric type at T≈46 K was revealed. Anomalous Hall effect which allows to determine magnetic moment was observed.  相似文献

The effect of Al substitution for Mn site in layered manganese oxides La1.3Sr1.7Mn2−xAlxO7 on the magnetic and electrical properties has been investigated. It is interesting that all the samples undergo a similar and complex transition with lowing temperature; they transform from the two-dimensional short-range ferromagnetic order at T*, then enter the three-dimensional long-range ferromagnetic state at TC, at last they display the canted antiferromagnetic state below TN. T*, TC and TN are all reduced with Al content. Resistivity increases sharply with increasing Al concentration, and the metal-insulator transition disappears when x reaches 10%. Additionally, magnetoresistance (MR) effect is weakened. Al substitution dilutes the magnetic active Mn-O-Mn network and weakens the double exchange interaction, and further suppresses FM ordering and metallic conduction. Owing to the anisotropic interaction in the layered perovskite, the magnetic and electrical properties are more sensitive to Al doping level than those in ABO3-type perovskite.  相似文献

The maximum superconducting transition temperatures,T c , of noncrystalline (Ti, Zr and Hf)-(3d metal) alloys are reported. The alloys have been produced by low temperature implantation of the 3d metals. The systematic behavior ofT c as a function of 3d element content is discussed in comparison with metallic glasses and vapor-quenched films. A correlation between the recently observedd-band splitting in metallic glasses and superconducting behavior is pointed out.  相似文献

The phase diagram and local structure of melt-spun amorphous (a-) Fe100−xYx (22?x?62) alloys were investigated using AC and DC magnetic and extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) measurements. The a-Fe–Y system shows reentrant spin glass (RSG) behavior for 42?x?58 and spin glass (SG) behavior for 60?x. Two SG transition temperatures, Tg and Tf, were obtained in the RSG state. The Tg, Tf and Curie temperature TC decrease with increasing x, and the TC and Tg vanish at x=60. A new magnetic phase diagram for the melt-spun a-Fe100−xYx alloys was obtained from magnetic measurements for higher Y concentration. The magnetic states of the a-Fe100−xYx alloys change remarkably around x=60 and an EXAFS study revealed that the average atomic distance between nearest-neighboring Fe atoms changes at approximately x=60.  相似文献

Polycrystalline samples of electron-doped Pr1.85Ce0.15CuO4+δ have been prepared under different annealing conditions and investigated by means of X-ray-diffraction, oxygen content analysis, electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility and low temperature specific heat measurements. X-ray-diffraction patterns show that samples contain a single T′ phase. The superconducting transition temperatures Tcm taken with the onset of diamagnetism in magnetic-susceptibility measurements are 20 and 19.5 K for sample annealed in flowing Ar gas and in vacuum (∼10−3 torr), respectively. The data of the samples, which are annealed in flowing Ar gas, show clear evidence for an αT2 term at zero magnetic field in superconducting electronic specific heat, and are consistent with d-wave superconductivity. However, this behavior is not observed in the other sample, which is annealed in vacuum. These results indicate that different heat treatments affect the oxygen content, homogeneity, superconducting transition temperature Tc, superconducting volume fraction, and the superconducting pairing symmetry of Pr1.85Ce0.15CuO4+δ.  相似文献

The effect of Na doping and annealing time on the structure, electrical properties, magnetoresistance and thermopower properties has been investigated in perovskite La1−xNaxMnOy (x=0.025, 0.075 and 0.1) systems. La1−xNaxMnOy crystallizes in a single-phase rhombohedral structure. It is observed a simultaneous occurrence of the ferromagnetic to paramagnetic state and metallic to insulating state. In the meanwhile, a large negative magnetoresistance with low applied magnetic field is observed. In addition, ρ(T) curves for Na-doped samples exhibit another broad transition Tms2 below Tms. Such double peak behavior in the ρ(T) curve interpreted by the electronic inhomogeneity in the samples. The sign of S changes from positive to negative depending on composition. The values of Seebeck coefficient are small (in the microvolt range).  相似文献

We have studied the changes in the electronic structure and the superconducting transition temperature Tc of Mg(B1−xCx)2 alloys as a function of x with 0≤x≤0.3. Our density-functional-based approach uses the coherent-potential approximation to describe the effects of disorder, the Gaspari-Gyorffy formalism to estimate the electron-phonon matrix elements and the Allen-Dynes equation to calculate Tc in these alloys. We find that the changes in the electronic structure of Mg(B1−xCx)2 alloys, especially near the Fermi energy EF, come mainly from the outward movement of EF with increasing x, and the effects of disorder in the B plane are small. In particular, our results show a sharp decline in both B and C px(y) states for 0.2≤x≤0.3. Our calculated variation in Tc of Mg(B1−xCx)2 alloys is in qualitative agreement with the experiments.  相似文献

The collective dynamics for the longitudinal as well as the transverse modes of the phonon eigenfrequencies are carried out for three Zr-based bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) in the present paper by employing pseudopotential theory. The theoretical phonon models proposed by Hubbard-Beeby (HB), Takeno-Goda (TG) and Bhatia-Singh (BS) are used to generate the phonon dispersion curves (PDC). The elastic and thermodynamic properties have also been investigated for the said BMGs by using the elastic limit of the phonon dispersion curves. The screening impact was also observed by using five different forms of local field functions due to Hartree (H), Taylor (T), Ichimaru and Utsumi (IU), Faridet al. (F) and Sarkaret al. (S) for the aforesaid properties. The derived results are seen to be in qualitative agreement with the available experimental and theoretically calculated data, as they confirm the applicability of Shaw's constant core model potential and self-consistent phonon theory for such studies.  相似文献

Measurements of the a.c.susceptibility (χ=χ′+iχ″) have been made on the Mg substituted high TC superconducting system, CuBa2(MgxCa1−x)3Cu4O12−y (Cu-1234) with x=0, 0.10 & 0.20, at different values of the a.c.field amplitude. Estimates of the intergranular critical current density(JC) made from the field dependent χ″-T curves show an improvement in the Mg-substituted Cu-1234 system. Results have been analysed in the light of the crystal structure and the superconducting anisotropy factor (γab/ξc) of the Cu-1234 system. Lower superconducting anisotropy emanating from Mg substitution has been found to be significant, resulting in better superconducting properties.  相似文献
