Smash Products for Secondary Homotopy Groups

We construct a smash product operation on secondary homotopy groups yielding the structure of a lax symmetric monoidal functor. Applications on cup-one products, Toda brackets and Whitehead products are considered. Cosemisimple Coextensions and Homological Dimension of Smash Coproducts

Let H be a finite dimensional cosemisimple Hopf algebra, C a left H-comodule coalgebra and let C = C/C（H^＊）^＋ be the quotient coalgebra and the smash coproduct of C and H. It is shown that if C/C is a eosemisimple coextension and C is an injective right C-comodule, then gl. dim（the smash coproduct of C and H） = gl. dim（C） = gl. dim（C）, where gl. dim（C） denotes the global dimension of coalgebra C.

Generalized local duality,canonical modules,and prescribed bound on projective dimension

We present various approaches to J. Herzog's theory of generalized local cohomology and explore its main aspects, e.g., (non-)vanishing results as well as a general local duality theorem which extends, to a much broader class of rings, previous results by Herzog-Zamani and Suzuki. As an application, we establish a prescribed upper bound for the projective dimension of a module satisfying suitable cohomological conditions, and we derive some freeness criteria and questions of Auslander-Reiten type. Along the way, we prove a new characterization of Cohen-Macaulay modules which truly relies on generalized local cohomology, and in addition we introduce and study a generalization of the notion of canonical module.     

Generalized Morphic Rings and Their Applications

A ring R is called “left generalized morphic” if for every element a in R, there exists b ∈ R such that l(a)? R/Rb, where l(a) denotes the left annihilator of a in R. The aim of this article is to investigate these rings. Several examples are given. They include left morphic rings and left p.p. rings. As applications, some homological dimensions over these rings are defined and studied.     

Co-Hopfian Modules of Generalized Inverse Polynomials

Let R be an associative ring not necessarily possessing an identity and (S, ≤) a strictly totally ordered monoid which is also artinian and satisfies that 0 ≤s for any s∈S. Assume that M is a left R-module having propertiy (F). It is shown that M is a co-Hopfian left R-module if and only if [M ^{S , ≤}] is a co-Hopfian left [[R ^{S , ≤}]]-module. Quantum Yang-Baxter H-Module Algebras and Their Braided Products

Abstract

We give a necessary and sufficient condition of the braided product to be a bialgebra or a Hopf algebra and two interesting examples to show that the conditions in Theorem 2.4: “(H1) and (H2)” weaken the commutativity and cocommutativity of H in Caenepeel et al. (Caenepeel, S., Oystaeyen, F. Van, Zhang, Yin-huo (1994). Quantum Yang-Baxter module algebra. K-Theorem 8:231–255.). Dually, we introduce the concept of a braided coproduct and give the distinguished conditions.

The target of this paper is the long time behaviour of solutions for a generalized Ginzburg-Landau equation on IR. The authors establish the existence of a global attractor of finite Hausdorff and fractal dimension in a weighted Hilbert space for the equation.

Generalized shear deformation theory for bending analysis of functionally graded plates

In this study, the static response is presented for a simply supported functionally graded rectangular plate subjected to a transverse uniform load. The generalized shear deformation theory obtained by the author in other recent papers is used. This theory is simplified by enforcing traction-free boundary conditions at the plate faces. No transversal shear correction factors are needed because a correct representation of the transversal shearing strain is given. Material properties of the plate are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The equilibrium equations of a functionally graded plate are given based on a generalized shear deformation plate theory. The numerical illustrations concern bending response of functionally graded rectangular plates with two constituent materials. The influences played by transversal shear deformation, plate aspect ratio, side-to-thickness ratio, and volume fraction distributions are studied. The results are verified with the known results in the literature.

One-Relator Products Induced from Generalized Triangle Groups

Abstract

We study the quotient of a free product of groups by the normal closure of a word that is contained in a certain type of 2-generator subgroup, and hence can be expressed in the form of a pushout involving a generalized triangle group. Using the theory of generalized triangle groups, we extend the range of conditions under which a number of results for one-relator products of groups, such as the Freiheitssatz and the solubility of the word problem, are known to hold.     

Generalized F-Modules and the Associated Primes of Local Cohomology Modules

We introduce a class of modules called generalized f-modules, which contains strictly all f-modules and generalized Cohen–Macaulay modules. The properties of multiplicity, local cohomology modules, localization, completion… of these modules are presented. A result concerning the finiteness of associated primes of local cohomology modules with respect to generalized f-modules is given. Some connections to the coordinate rings of algebraic varieties and Stanley-Reisner rings are considered.

Commuting Homotopy Limits and Smash Products

In general the processes of taking a homotopy inverse limit of a diagram of spectra and smashing spectra with a fixed space do not commute. In this paper we investigate under what additional assumptions these two processes do commute. In fact we deal with an equivariant generalization that involves spectra and smash products over the orbit category of a discrete group. Such a situation naturally occurs if one studies the equivariant homology theory associated to topological cyclic homology. The main theorem of this paper will play a role in the generalization of the results obtained by Bökstedt, Hsiang and Madsen about the algebraic K-theory Novikov Conjecture to the assembly map for the family of virtually cyclic subgroups.
