Inequalities of Maximum of Partial Sums and Weak Convergence for a Class of Weak Dependent Random Variables

In this paper, we establish a Rosenthal-type inequality of the maximum of partial sums for ρ^- -mixing random fields. As its applications we get the Hájeck -Rènyi inequality and weak convergence of sums of ρ^- -mixing sequence. These results extend related results for NA sequence and p^＊ -mixing random fields,

Convergence of Solutions of Discrete Reflected Backward SDE＇s and Simulations

The objective of this paper is to introduce elementary discrete reflected backward equations and to give a simple method to discretize in time a （continuous） reflected backward equation. A presentation of numerical simulations is also described.     

Convergence ball and error analysis of Ostrowski-Traub’s method

Under the hypotheses that the second-order and third-order derivatives of a function are bounded, an estimate of the radius of the convergence ball of Ostrowski-Traub’s method is obtained. An error analysis is given which matches the convergence order of the method. Finally, two examples are provided to show applications of our theorem.     

Homogenization of Reynolds Equation by Two-Scale Convergence

To increase the hydrodynamic performance in different machine elements, as e.g. journal bearings and thrust bearings, during lubrication it is important to understand the influence of surface roughness. In this connection one encounters homogenization of the incompressible Reynolds equation, where the roughness of the lubricated surface is assumed to be periodic. This problem has recently been studied in more engineering-oriented papers by using the formal method of multiple scale expansion. In this paper, we rigorously prove both homogenization and corrector results by using two-scale convergence, which may be regarded as a justification of the formal multiple scale expansion method described above. Moreover, some numerical illustrations and results are presented.

On the Spectral Distribution of Gaussian Random Matrices

We consider the empirical spectral distribution （ESD） of a random matrix from the Gaussian Unitary Ensemble. Based on the Plancherel-Rotaeh approximation formula for Hermite polynomials, we prove that the expected empirical spectral distribution converges at the rate of O（n^-1） to the Wigner distribution function uniformly on every compact intervals [u,v] within the limiting support （-1, 1）. Furthermore, the variance of the ESD for such an interval is proved to be （πn）^-2 logn asymptotically which surprisingly enough, does not depend on the details （e.g. length or location） of the interval, This property allows us to determine completely the covariance function between the values of the ESD on two intervals.     

Exponential convergence in probability for empirical means of Lévy processes

Let （Xt）t≥0 be a Lévy process taking values in R^d with absolutely continuous marginal distributions. Given a real measurable function f on R^d in Kato＇s class, we show that the empirical mean 1/t ∫ f（Xs）ds converges to a constant z in probability with an exponential rate if and only if f has a uniform mean z. This result improves a classical result of Kahane et al. and generalizes a similar result of L. Wu from the Brownian Motion to general Lévy processes.     

Strong Convergence of an Implicit Iteration Process for a Finite Family of Asymptotically Ф-pseudocontractive Mappings

Strong convergence theorems for approximation of common fixed points of asymptotically Ф-quasi-pseudocontractive mappings and asymptotically C-strictly- pseudocontractive mappings are proved in real Banach spaces by using a new composite implicit iteration scheme with errors. The results presented in this paper extend and improve the main results of Sun, Gu and Osilike published on J. Math. Anal. Appl.     

Convergence of the Solution to General Viscoelastic Koiter Shell Equations

By applying the inequality of Korn＇s type without boundary conditions on a general surface, we prove that the scaled displacement of the two-dimensional linearly viscoelastic Koiter＇s shell converges to the solution of two-dimensional model system of linearly viscoelastic ＂membrane＂ shell.

Global Convergence of a Modified Gradient Projection Method for Convex Constrained Problems

In this paper, the continuously differentiable optimization problem min{f（x） ： x∈Ω}, where Ω ∈ R^n is a nonempty closed convex set, the gradient projection method by Calamai and More （Math. Programming, Vol.39. P.93-116, 1987） is modified by memory gradient to improve the convergence rate of the gradient projection method is considered. The convergence of the new method is analyzed without assuming that the iteration sequence {x^k} of bounded. Moreover, it is shown that, when f（x） is pseudo-convex （quasiconvex） function, this new method has strong convergence results. The numerical results show that the method in this paper is more effective than the gradient projection method.     

Ergodic Retraction Theorem and Weak Convergence Theorem for Reversible Semigroups of Non-Lipschitzian Mappings

Let G be a semitopological semigroup. Let C be a closed convex subset of a uniformly convex Banaeh space E with a Frechet differentiable norm, and T = {Tt ： t ∈ G} be a continuous representation of G as nearly asymptotically nonexpansive type mappings of C into itself such that the common fixed point set F（T） of T in C is nonempty. It is shown that if G is right reversible, then for each almost-orbit u（.） of T, ∩s∈G ^-CO{u（t） ： t ≥ s} ∩ F（T） consists of at most one point. Furthermore, ∩s∈G ^-CO{Ttx ： t ≥ s} ∩ F（T） is nonempty for each x ∈ C if and only if there exists a nonlinear ergodic retraction P of C onto F（T） such that PTs - TsP = P for all s ∈ G and Px ∈^-CO{Ttx ： s ∈ G} for each x ∈ C. This result is applied to study the problem of weak convergence of the net {u（t） ： t ∈ G} to a common fixed point of T.     

An application of Chen’s theorem to convergence of Fourier multiplier transforms

Let V be a star shaped region. In 2006, Colzani, Meaney and Prestini proved that if function f satisfies some condition, then the multiplier transform with the characteristic function of tV as the multiplier tends to f almost everywhere, when t goes to∞. In this paper we use a Theorem established by K.K.Chen to show that if we change their multiplier, then the condition on f can be weakened.

Estimation of Parameters of Partially Linear Errors-in-variables Models with Replicated Net Points of Observation

A kind of partially linear errors-in-variables models with replicated net points of observation are studied in this paper. Estimators of unknown parameters are given. Under certain regular conditions, it is shown that the estimators of the unknown parameters are strongly consistent and their a.s. convergence rates are achieved.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the iterative algorithm for finding approximate solutionsof a class of mixed variational-like inequalities in a real Hilbert space,where the iterative algorithm is presentedby virtue of the auxiliary principle technique.On one hand,the existence of approximate solutions of this classof mixed variational-like inequalities is proven.On the other hand,it is shown that the approximate solutionsconverge strongly to the exact solution of this class of mixed variational-like inequalities.     

On the divergence of Nörlund logarithmic means of Walsh-Fourier series

It is well known in the literature that the logarithmic means 1/logn ^n-1∑k=1 Sk（f）/k of Walsh or trigonometric Fourier series converge a.e. to the function for each integrable function on the unit interval. This is not the case if we take the partial sums. In this paper we prove that the behavior of the so-called NSrlund logarithmic means 1/logn ^n-1∑k=1 Sk（f）/n-k is closer to the properties of partial sums in this point of view.     

中国地区能源强度收敛性研究

基于1985-2010年中国29个地区的面板数据,对能源强度的收敛性进行了分析.在研究方法上,除了考察常见的β收敛和σ收敛外,还引入排名一致性系数对γ收敛进行了检验.研究结果表明,中国地区能源强度存在显著的β收敛和γ收敛;对于σ收敛,在采用变异系数法进行检验时,并未反映出显著的σ收敛特征,但采用核密度估计则较好的验证了我国地区能源强度的σ收敛性.
