Over the past decade, organic solar cells (OSCs) have achieved a dramatic boost in their power conversion efficiencies from about 6 % to over 16 %. In addition to developments in device engineering, innovative photovoltaic materials, especially fluorinated donors and acceptors, have become the dominant factor for improved device performance. This minireview highlights fluorinated photovoltaic materials that enable efficient OSCs. Impressive OSCs have been obtained by developing some important molds of fluorinated donor and acceptor systems. The molecular design strategy and the matching principle of fluorinated donors and acceptors in OSCs are discussed. Finally, a concise summary and outlook are presented for advances in fluorinated materials to realize the practical application of OSCs.  相似文献

This review focuses on our work on metal‐free sensitizers for dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Sensitizers based on D?A′?π?A architecture (D is a donor, A is an acceptor, A′ is an electron‐deficient entity) exhibit better light harvesting than D?π?A‐type sensitizers. However, appropriate molecular design is needed to avoid excessive aggregation of negative charge at the electron‐deficient entity upon photoexcitation. Rigidified aromatics, including aromatic segments comprising fused electron‐excessive and ‐deficient units in the spacer, allow effective electronic communication, and good photoinduced charge transfer leads to excellent cell performance. Sensitizers with two anchors/acceptors, D(–π–A)2, can more efficiently harvest light, inject electrons, and suppress dark current compared with congeners with a single anchor. Appropriate incorporation of heteroaromatic units in the spacer is beneficial to DSSC performance. High‐performance, aqueous‐based DSSCs can be achieved with a dual redox couple comprising imidazolium iodide and 2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidin‐N‐oxyl, and/or using dyes of improved wettability through the incorporation of a triethylene oxide methyl ether chain.

A new series of benzimidazole ( BIm )‐based dyes ( SC32 and SC33 ) and pyridoimidazole‐( PIm ) based dyes ( SC35, SC36N and SC36 ) were synthesized as sensitizers for dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The N‐substituent and C‐substituent at the BIm and PIm cores were found to be the dominating factor in determining the electronic properties of the dyes and their DSSCs performance. The efficiency of BIm ‐based dyes ( SC35 and SC36 ) was found to be higher than that of the PIm ‐based dyes ( SC32 and SC33 ) due to better light harvesting. The C‐substituents in SC36 , a 4‐hexylloxybenzene and a hexyl chain, are beneficial to dark current suppression, and hence SC36 achieves the best efficiency of 7.38 % (≈85 % of N719 ). The two BIm dyes have better cell efficiencies than their congeners with a bithiophene entity between the BIm and the anchor due to better light harvesting of the former.  相似文献

A novel class of dyes, namely benzoporphyrins, was synthesized and implemented into dye‐sensitized solar cells. They feature complementary absorptions compared to N719 , which renders them promising candidates for co‐sensitization in DSSCs. Notably, metallated benzoporphyrins reveal a TiO2–nanoparticle attachment that is size and aggregation dependent. Therefore, unproductive energy‐transfer events between the selectively attached dyes can be prevented. In light of the latter, an efficiency improvement of 39 % has been achieved upon selective adsorption of benzoporphyrins and N719 onto different layers of TiO2 photoelectrode.  相似文献

A novel series of dipolar organic dyes containing diarylamine as the electron donor, 2‐cyanoacrylic acid as the electron acceptor, and fluorene and a heteroaromatic ring as the conjugating bridge have been developed and characterized. These metal‐free dyes exhibited very high molar extinction coefficients in the electronic absorption spectra and have been successfully fabricated as efficient nanocrystalline TiO2 dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The solar‐energy‐to‐electricity conversion efficiencies of DSSCs ranged from 4.92 to 6.88 %, which reached 68–96 % of a standard device of N719 fabricated and measured under the same conditions. With a TiO2 film thickness of 6 μm, DSSCs based on these dyes had photocurrents surpassing that of the N719‐based device. DFT computation results on these dyes also provide detailed structural information in connection with their high cell performance.  相似文献

A new series of 2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole (BT) acceptors with different conjugated aryl‐vinylene side chains have been designed and used to build efficient low‐bandgap (LBG) photovoltaic copolymers. Based on benzo[1,2‐b:3,4‐b′]dithiophene and the resulting new BT derivatives, three two‐dimensional (2D)‐like donor (D)–acceptor (A) conjugated copolymers have been synthesised by Stille coupling polymerisation. These copolymers were characterised by NMR spectroscopy, gel‐permeation chromatography, thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. UV/Vis absorption and cyclic voltammetry measurements indicated that their optical and electrochemical properties can be facilely modified by changing the structures of the conjugated aryl‐vinylene side chains. The copolymer with phenyl‐vinylene side chains exhibited the best light harvesting and smallest bandgap of the three copolymers. The basic electronic structures of D–A model compounds of these copolymers were also studied by DFT calculations at the B3LYP/6‐31G* level of theory. Polymer solar cells (PSCs) with a typical structure of indium tin oxide (ITO)/poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PSS)/copolymer:[6,6]‐phenyl‐C61(C71)‐butyric acid‐methyl ester (PCBM)/calcium (Ca)/aluminum (Al) were fabricated and measured under the illumination of AM1.5G at 100 mW cm?2. The results showed that the device based on the copolymer with phenyl‐vinylene side chains had the highest efficiency of 2.17 % with PC71BM as acceptor. The results presented herein indicate that all the prepared copolymers are promising candidates for roll‐to‐roll manufacturing of efficient PSCs. Suitable electronic, optical and photovoltaic properties of BT‐based copolymers can also be achieved by fine‐tuning the structures of the aryl‐vinylene side chains for photovoltaic application.  相似文献

Efficient hole‐transporting materials (HTMs), TAZ‐[MeOTPA]2 and TAZ‐[MeOTPATh]2 incorporating two electron‐rich diphenylamino side arms, through direct linkage or thiophen bridges, respectively, on the C3‐ and C5‐positions of a 4‐phenyl‐1,2,4‐triazole core were synthesized. These synthetic HTMs with donor–acceptor type molecular structures exhibited effective intramolecular charge transfer for improving the hole‐transporting properties. The structural modification of HTMs by thiophene bridging might increase intermolecular π–π stacking in the solid state and afford a better spectral response because of their increased π‐conjugation length. Perovskite‐based cells using TAZ‐[MeOTPA]2 and TAZ‐[MeOTPATh]2 as HTMs afforded high power conversion efficiencies of 10.9 % and 14.4 %, respectively, showing a photovoltaic performance comparable to that obtained using spiro‐OMeTAD. These synthetically simple and inexpensive HTMs hold promise for replacing the more expensive spiro‐OMeTAD in high‐efficiency perovskite solar cells.  相似文献

We describe herein the synthesis of novel donor–acceptor conjugated polymers with dithienobenzodithiophenes (DTBDT) as the electron donor and 2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole as the electron acceptor for high‐performance organic photovoltaics (OPVs). We studied the effects of strategically inserting thiophene into the DTBDT as a substituent on the skeletal structure on the opto‐electronic performances of fabricated devices. From UV/Vis absorption, electrochemical, and field‐effect transistor analyses, we found that the thiophene‐containing DTBDT derivative can substantially increase the orbital overlap area between adjacent conjugated chains and thus dramatically enhance charge‐carrier mobility up to 0.55 cm2 V?1 s?1. The outstanding charge‐transport characteristics of this polymer allowed the realization of high‐performance organic solar cells with a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 5.1 %. Detailed studies on the morphological factors that enable the maximum PCE of the polymer solar cells are discussed along with a hole/electron mobility analysis based on the space‐charge‐limited current model.  相似文献

3‐Hexyloxy‐4‐cyanothiophene, 3‐pyrrolidil‐4‐cyanothiophene, and 3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) units are used with benzothiadiazole as building blocks for the development of three new conjugated donor–acceptor–donor (DAD) derivatives. The DAD molecules have the central acceptor part, which is formed by combining electron‐withdrawing cyano groups and the benzothiadiazole moiety, in common. Theoretical calculations and UV/Vis and electrochemical data reveal the key role of the end‐capped donor to tune the electronic properties of the derivatives. A study of the electropolymerization process of the three derivatives shows the strong influence of the donor parts on both the reactivity of the precursors and the electronic properties of the resulting polymers. Derivatives end‐capped with pyrrolidinocyano thiophene or EDOT units lead to films of polymers presenting low band gaps of around 0.9–1.4 eV. Upon oxidation, the two polymers present different behavior. In the presence of the pyrrolidinocyano thiophene moieties, oxidation leads to a blueshift of the absorption bands, whereas with EDOT units a classical redshift, giving high absorption in the near‐IR region, is observed for the oxidized states.  相似文献

We demonstrate that polymer electron acceptors with excellent all‐polymer solar‐cell (all‐PSC) device performance can be developed from polymer electron donors by using B←N units. By alleviating the steric hindrance effect of the bulky pendant moieties on the conjugated polymers that contain B←N units, the π–π stacking distance of polymer backbones is decreased and the electron mobility is consequently enhanced by nearly two orders of magnitude. As a result, the power conversion efficiency of all‐PSCs with the polymer acting as the electron acceptor is greatly improved from 0.12 % to 5.04 %. This PCE value is comparable to that of the best all‐PSCs with state‐of‐the‐art polymer acceptors.  相似文献

Novel meso‐ or β‐derivatized porphyrins with a carboxyl group have been designed and synthesized for use as sensitizers in dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The position and nature of a bridge connecting the porphyrin ring and carboxylic acid group show significant influences on the spectral, electrochemical, and photovoltaic properties of these sensitizers. Absorption spectra of porphyrins with a phenylethynyl bridge show that both Soret and Q bands are red‐shifted with respect to those of porphyrin 6 . This phenomenon is more pronounced for porphyrins 3 and 4 , which have a π‐conjugated electron‐donating group at the meso position opposite the anchoring group. Upon introduction of an ethynylene group at the meso position, the potential at the first oxidation alters only slightly whereas that for the first reduction is significantly shifted to the positive, thus indicating a decreased HOMO–LUMO gap. Quantum‐chemical (DFT) results support the spectroelectrochemical data for a delocalization of charge between the porphyrin ring and the amino group in the first oxidative state of diarylamino‐substituted porphyrin 5 , which exhibits the best photovoltaic performance among all the porphyrins under investigation. From a comparison of the cell performance based on the same TiO2 films, the devices made of porphyrin 5 coadsorbed with chenodeoxycholic acid (CDCA) on TiO2 in ratios [ 5 ]/[CDCA]=1:1 and 1:2 have efficiencies of power conversion similar to that of an N3 ‐based DSSC, which makes this green dye a promising candidate for colorful DSSC applications.  相似文献

The high performances of dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) based on seven new dyes are disclosed. Herein, the synthesis and electrochemical and photophysical properties of a series of intentionally designed dipolar organic dyes and their application in DSSCs are reported. The molecular structures of the seven organic dyes are composed of a triphenylamine group as an electron donor, a cyanoacrylic acid as an electron acceptor, and an electron‐deficient diphenylquinoxaline moiety integrated in the π‐conjugated spacer between the electron donor and acceptor moieties. The DSSCs based on the dye DJ104 gave the best overall cell performance of 8.06 %; the efficiency of the DSSC based on the standard N719 dye under the same experimental conditions was 8.82 %. The spectral coverage of incident photon‐to‐electron conversion efficiencies extends to the onset at the near‐infrared region due to strong internal charge‐transfer transition as well as the effect of electron‐deficient diphenylquinoxaline to lower the energy gap in these organic dyes. A combined tetraphenyl segment as a hydrophobic barrier in these organic dyes effectively slows down the charge recombination from TiO2 to the electrolyte and boosts the photovoltage, comparable to their RuII counterparts. Detailed spectroscopic studies have revealed the dye structure–cell performance correlations, to allow future design of efficient light‐harvesting organic dyes.  相似文献

Two new oligoimides, OI(APAP-6FDA) and OI(APAN-6FDA) , which consisted of electron‐donating N‐(4‐aminophenyl)‐N‐phenyl‐1‐aminopyrene ( APAP ) or N‐(4‐aminophenyl)‐N‐phenyl‐1‐aminonaphthalene ( APAN ) moieties and electron‐accepting 4,4′‐(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride ( 6FDA ) moieties, were designed and synthesized for application in electrical memory devices. Such devices, with the indium tin oxide (ITO)/oligoimide/Al configuration, showed memory characteristics, from high‐conductance Ohmic current flow to negative differential resistance (NDR), with corresponding film thicknesses of 38 and 48 nm, respectively. The 48 nm oligoimide film device exhibited NDR electrical behavior, which resulted from the diffusion of Al atoms into the oligoimide layer. On further increasing the film thickness to 85 nm, the OI(APAP-6FDA) film device showed a reproducible nonvolatile “write once read many” (WORM) property with a high ON/OFF current ratio (more than ×104). On the other hand, the device that was based on the 85 nm OI(APAN-6FDA) film exhibited a volatile static random access memory (SRAM) property. The longer conjugation length of the pyrene unit compared to that of a naphthalene unit was considered to be responsible for the different memory characteristics between these two oligoimides. These experimental results suggested that tunable switching behavior could be achieved through an appropriate design of the donor–acceptor oligoimide structure and controllable thickness of the active memory layer.  相似文献

Ten new efficient p‐dopants for conductivity doping of organic semiconductors for OLEDs are identified. The key advantage of the electrophilic tris(carboxylato) bismuth(III) compounds is the unique low absorption of the resulting doped layers which promotes the efficiency of OLED devices. The combination of these features with their low fabrication cost, volatility, and stability, make these materials very attractive as dopants in organic electronics.  相似文献

The unique properties of boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) dyes including facile synthesis, high absorption coefficients, and delocalized molecular orbitals as well as excellent photochemical and thermal stability, make them promising as materials for organic solar cells. Accordingly, in this study three A‐D ‐A structural small molecules of BDTT‐BODIPY, FL‐BODIPY, and TT‐BODIPY have been synthesized, in which two BODIPY acceptor units are symmetrically conjugated to 4,8‐bis(5‐(2‐ethylhexyl) thiophen‐2‐yl)benzo[1,2‐b:4,5‐b]dithiophene (BDTT), 9,9‐dioctyl‐9H‐fluorene (FL), and thieno[3,2‐b]thiophene (TT) donor cores, respectively. The manipulation of the structural parameters significantly improves the performances of the BHJ OSCs, which show power conversion efficiencies of 4.75 %, 1.51 %, and 1.67 % based on [6,6]‐phenyl C71‐butyric acid methyl ester (PC71BM) as the acceptor material and BDTT‐BODIPY, FL‐BODIPY, and TT‐BODIPY as the donor materials, respectively.  相似文献

Research on bulk heterojunction organic solar cells has rapidly grown over the past two decades, and device performance has reached power conversion efficiencies over 13 %. In this focus review, we highlight design strategies used for the development of diketopyrrolopyrrole‐ and tetracyano‐based molecular donors. We also describe how tetracyano‐bridged non‐fullerene acceptors can be developed by a click‐type [2+2]‐cycloaddition–electrocyclic ring‐opening reaction of acetylene‐bridged small molecules with tetracyanoethylene by simple modification.  相似文献

A series of block copolymers with fixed length of the semiconductor‐block poly(3‐butylthiophene) (P3BT) and varying length of the insulator‐block polystyrene (PS) are synthesized. These copolymers are blended with phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) for the bulk heterojunction photoactive layers. With appropriate insulator‐block length and donor–acceptor ratio, the power conversion efficiency increases by one order of magnitude compared with reference devices with pure P3BT/PCBM. PS blocks improve the miscibility of the active layer blends remarkably. The P3BT‐b‐PS crystallizes as nanorods with the P3BT core covered with the PS‐block, which creates a nanoscale tunneling barrier between donor and acceptor leading to more efficient transportation of charge carriers in the semiconductors.  相似文献

We report herein an efficient A1‐C≡C‐A2‐C≡C‐A1 type small‐molecule 4,4'‐difluoro‐4‐bora‐3a,4a‐diaza‐s‐ indacene (BODIPY) acceptor (A1=BODIPY and A2=diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP)) by following the A‐to‐A excited electron delocalization via the BODIPY meso ‐position, the inherent directionality for the excited electron delocalization. The lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) delocalizes across over whole the two flanking A1 and the central A2, and the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) localizes dominantly on the ‐C≡C‐DPP‐C≡C‐ segment. The excited electron upon light excitation of the DPP segment delocalizes over both the BODIPY and DPP segments. The acceptor in chloroform shows an unprecedented plateau‐like broad absorption between 550 and 700 nm with a large FWHM value of 195 nm. Upon transition into solid film, the acceptor shows absorption in the whole near ultraviolet‐visible‐near infrared wavelength region (300‐830 nm) with a low band gap of 1.5 eV and a maximum absorptivity of 0.85×105 cm‐1. Introduction of the ethynyl spacer between the A1 and A2 and the close BODIPY‐to‐DPP LUMO energy levels are crucial for the excited π−electron delocalization across over whole the conjugation backbone. A power conversion efficiency of 6.60% was obtained from the ternary non‐fullerene solar cell with PTB7‐Th:p ‐DTS(FBTTh2)2 (0.5 : 0.5) as the donor materials, which is the highest value among the non‐fullerene organic solar cells with BODIPY as the electron acceptor material.  相似文献
