We present simulation and experimental characterization of a hybrid amplifier comprising of a Raman amplifier and an erbium doped fiber (EDF) amplifier, with enhanced performance. The incorporation of a pumped EDF section in a fiber Raman amplifier (FRA) employing a dispersion compensating fiber is demonstrated to provide superior performance than a sole FRA system. The hybrid amplifier is characterized in terms of single channel gain and noise figure, and the results of measurements are shown to be in close agreement with the simulated results. Polarization-dependent gain (PDG) and multi-channel measured and simulated gain characterization of the Raman/EDFA hybrid amplifier are also presented.  相似文献

Optical fiber doped with lead salts quantum dots (QDs) of different radii, has previously been proposed as a wide-band amplifier in the optical communication range. The emission and absorption spectra of QDs are size-dependent. Optical fiber amplifier doped with QDs of different sizes is an inhomogeneous gain medium. This inhomogeneity is the principle of operation of wide-band quantum-dot-doped fiber amplifiers (QDFAs). To study the effects of inhomogeneity such as spectral hole burning on the amplifier behavior, a fiber amplifier with an arbitrary size distribution of QDs is taken into consideration. The light propagation equations and rate equations for the inhomogeneous medium are presented. To investigate the gain spectrum, the amplifier bandwidth and the spectral hole burning effect on the amplifier behavior, the system of governing equations for the steady-state regime of operation are solved and numerical results are presented.  相似文献

Coherent beam combining (CBC) of a polarization-maintaining fiber amplifier and a non-polarization-maintaining fiber amplifier is presented. The experiment is based on adaptive polarization control and active phase control. The stochastic parallel gradient decent (SPGD) algorithm is used for the adaptive polarization control in the non-polarization-maintaining fiber amplifier and the active phase control is realized by single frequency dithering (SFD) algorithm. When the adaptive polarization control system and the phase control system go into closed loop, the fringe contrast of far-field intensity pattern is improved to more than 87.7%. A scalable architecture for CBC of two styles fiber amplifiers is also proposed.  相似文献

We report on hundred watts range ytterbium-doped all-fiber laser assembly based on the master oscillator power amplifier structure. It consisted of an oscillator and an amplifier with all-fiber components. And fiber fusion splice made the laser be an integrated fiber system. It generated up to 175.5 W of continuouswave (CW) output power at 1085 nm with more than 75% extraction efficiency in the amplifier when the total coupled pump power into the double clad fiber was 270 W.  相似文献

A novel (to our knowledge) dual-core ytterbium (Yb(3+)) doped fiber, as an optically pumped amplifier, boosts the output power from a 1060 nm swept source laser beyond 250 mW, while providing a wavelength tuning range of 93 nm, for optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging. The design of the dual-core Yb-doped fiber amplifier and its multiple wavelength optical pumping scheme to optimize output bandwidth are discussed. Use of the dual-core fiber amplifier showed no appreciable degradation to the coherence length of the seed laser. The signal intensity improvement of this amplifier is demonstrated on a multichannel in vivo OCT imaging system at 1060 nm.  相似文献

研究了光纤激光器前向抽运的S波段分布式光纤拉曼放大器中级联的受激布里渊散射(SBS)串扰现象。用窄光谱带宽(<100MHz)的可调谐激光二极管作为信号源,通过S波段分布式光纤拉曼放大器,当被放大的信号功率超过单模光纤受激布里渊散射的阈值时,出现了前向受激布里渊散射,这是传导声波布里渊散射在光纤放大器中放大的现象。随着拉曼放大器抽运功率的提高,在斯托克斯区,出现了两阶受激布里渊散射线,在实验中观测到偶数阶的受激布里渊散射谱线功率大于奇数阶的布里渊一瑞利散射线。当进一步增加拉曼放大器的抽运功率,出现了前向级联的多阶受激布里渊散射现象,拉曼放大器的增益下降,被放大的信号功率转换为受激布里渊散射,噪声变大。受激布里渊散射的串扰破坏了拉曼放大器的特性,使拉曼放大器无法在密集波分复用光纤传输系统中使用,因此需要严格地控制入纤的信号功率和放大器的抽运功率。在实验中还观测到在光纤拉曼放大器中被放大的信号光和受激布里渊散射线两侧的伴线。  相似文献

A pulsed master-oscillator fiber power amplifier system with near diffraction-limited output by use of China-made large-mode-area fiber and a (2 + 1) × 1 multimode combiner is reported. The effect of the seed power on the amplification performance is found. For the seed power, there exists a range within which the pulsed fiber amplifier can operate safely and reliably at a certain pump power. With the seed average power of 70 mW, the amplification performances of the fiber amplifier are investigated.  相似文献

采用多层介质膜衍射光栅实现多路高功率光纤激光共孔径光谱合成有望成为光纤激光同时实现高功率、高效率和高光束质量的最具发展潜力的技术途径。搭建了一套基于双光栅色散补偿设计的5kW共孔径光谱合成系统。采用国产多层介质膜衍射光栅实现了5路kW级窄谱子束激光的高效优质共孔径光谱合成,最大输出功率达5.07kW,光束质量因子(M2)小于3,合成效率达到91.2%。初步研究表明:多层介质膜衍射光栅在较高功率水平、较宽光谱范围内均能保持较高衍射效率,是实现高功率光纤激光高效率光谱合成的重要器件;参与合成的子束自身的光束质量水平和线宽是影响合成输出光束质量的重要因素,光谱合成系统的输出功率主要受限于窄谱子束的输出功率和合成路数,增加窄谱子束的功率或合成路数均可进一步提升系统的输出功率。  相似文献

A new double pass long wavelength band erbium-doped fiber amplifier with enhanced noise figure characteristics is demonstrated. The noise figure is improved by about 2.6 dB with the incorporation of broadband conventional-band fiber Bragg grating (FBG) in between the two segments of erbium-doped fiber. By incorporating both the pre-amplifier and the FBG, the noise figure is further improved, which varies from 4.0 to 5.0 dB in the flat gain region from 1570 to 1600 nm. The gain varies from 32.0 to 33.4 dB within this region. The new amplifier with high gain and low noise figure can be useful as an inline amplifier in a wavelength division multiplexing transmission system.  相似文献

本文采用计算机系统仿真的方法研究了应用相敏光放大器(PSA)并附加DCF色散补偿的高速常规单模光纤通信系统的传输性能,并和相同速率的掺铒光纤放大器(EDFA)系统进行了比较.研究着重于传输速率、放大器间距对系统码间干扰限制距离的影响.结果表明PSA系统比EDFA系统更适合于高速率传输并具有更长的传输距离.而且,对PSA系统,在放大器增益正好补偿光纤损耗的条件下,存在一相应于最大码间干扰限制距离的最佳放大器间距.  相似文献

Depletion of soliton energy by four-wave mixing between a soliton and amplifier noise in a system with 100-km amplifier spacing is studied. Dispersion exponentially decreasing fiber is used as transmission fiber. Improvement of the system by the use of a sliding-frequency filter to reduce noise power and the depletion of soliton energy is shown. The system can be further improved by compensation for depleted soliton energy.  相似文献

We report the performance of a picosecond master-oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) system based on a diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) seed laser and Yb-doped fiber amplifier. An average power of 28 W at ∼200 MHz repetition rate is achieved by using only one amplification stage. We found that positive nonlinear phase shift induced by nonlinear effect in the active fiber can be effectively compensated by a grating pair. A pulse duration of ∼1.6 ps is shown after recompression.  相似文献

射频强度调制激光作为激光雷达系统的载波可以有效提高系统的抗干扰和抗散射能力,高功率宽带射频强度调制光源是实现高分辨率远距离探测的关键.本文采用在Nd:YAG激光器的耦合腔中插入一对四分之一波片的方法实现了频差调谐范围为30 MHz—1.5 GHz的双频激光输出,结合光纤振荡功率放大技术,将双频信号光功率放大为50 W.耦合腔双频种子源具有良好的功率和频率稳定性,输出功率为9.5 mW时,功率标准差为0.145 mW,稳定性为1.52%,输出双频激光的频差为250 MHz时,拍频的标准差为1.6144 MHz.种子光进行三级光纤功率放大,得到50 W双频激光输出.放大后的双频激光功率波动范围小于0.1 W,双频拍频的标准差为1.777 MHz,很好地保持了放大之前的功率稳定性和双频频差稳定性.  相似文献

搭建了一台主振荡功率放大(MOPA)结构的窄线宽全光纤激光器。利用噪声相位调制技术将单频激光线宽展宽至0.3 GHz,通过四级放大器结构对10 mW的窄线宽种子激光进行放大,获得了功率为666 W的窄线宽激光输出。该窄线宽激光器输出功率仅受限于泵浦功率,增加泵浦功率有望进一步提高输出功率。  相似文献

 以七芯光纤激光器为例,提出一种提高多芯光纤激光器总输出光功率中共相位模式所占比例的方法,即把多芯光纤激光器作为种子光源,输出信号光再经过多芯光纤放大器进行放大。基于速率方程组对激光器和放大器中的模式竞争进行了数值分析。计算表明:激光器输出端与放大器输入端之间距离存在一个最佳值,以使得放大器输出信号中低阶模式功率占总输出功率的比例最低,可以下降到小于1%。研究表明:级联放大系统可以有效增强共相位模式同时抑制低阶模式,比传统的塔耳博特腔激光器具有更好的光束质量。  相似文献

In this article we propose two kinds of new fiber ring structure with a semiconductor optical amplifier. The first structure is a one-fiber-ring amplifier with an 8 × 8 fiber coupler and a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). The second fiber ring structure is a two-fiber-ring laser including an 8 × 8 fiber coupler, a 2 × 2 E/O modulator, and an SOA. The 14-output spectra of the fiber laser are measured. The gain coefficients of each port of the multiple-output-fiber-ring amplifiers are also measured. We apply these two kinds of fiber ring structures in a hybrid CATV and ADSL broadcasting optical fiber communication system. This application can develop a broadcasting system with large coverage area without using many laser diodes and optical amplifiers. The performance of such a system is also analyzed in this article.  相似文献

We investigate the stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) and the stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) in an ytterbium-doped double-clad fiber amplifier that outputs optical pulses with multi-ns-duration and multi-hundred-kW peak-power. The ytterbium-doped double-clad fiber amplifier is simulated by a model which is composed of a set of propagation-rate equations. The simulated results show that SBS and SRS will deform the output signal pulse in both the time domain and the spectral domain, and degrade the performance of the ytterbium-doped double-clad fiber amplifier seriously. It is shown in our simulation that the troublesome SBS can be effectively suppressed by broadening the signal linewidth to a critical value of 0.07 nm in our calculation, and the effect of SRS can be suppressed using a large-mode-area fiber with proper length. The model and the simulated results are very useful for designing an ultra-high-power ytterbium-doped double-clad fiber amplifier.  相似文献

对自行研制的主振荡功率放大结构短脉冲双包层光纤激光系统(2W,30ps)的偏振特性进行了研究.分别研究了种子源激光和经过包层泵浦放大后输出激光在连续工作和脉冲输出情况下的偏振特性,结果表明在不加偏振控制措施情况下,系统输出为椭圆偏振光,偏振度和偏振角都容易受到光纤扰动的影响;在激光腔内加入起偏器后,输出线偏振光,偏振态相对比较稳定,但是偏振角度仍然容易受到光纤扰动的影响.实验证明:经过高功率放大后,输出激光的偏振态稳定性有一定程度的下降,在进行激光相干合成前需进一步加以控制.  相似文献
