Abstract

We consider the group G of C-automorphisms of C(x, y) (resp. C[x, y]) generated by s, t such that t(x) = y, t(y) = x and s(x) = x, s(y) = ? y + u(x) where u ∈ C[x] is of degree k ≥ 2. Using Galois's theory, we show that the invariant field and the invariant algebra of G are equal to C.  相似文献

Consider a Hilbert space equipped with a time-structure, i.e., a resolution E of the identity on defined on subsets of some linearly ordered set Λ. For which x and y in is it possible to find a causal (time respecting) compact operator T, so that Tx = y? When T is required to be a Hilbert-Schmidt operator and (Λ, E) is sufficiently regular, this question is answered in terms of the “time-densities” of x and y. The condition is that the integral ∝gLμx({s t})−1 dμy(t) should be finite, where μx and μy are the measures on Λ given by μx(Ω) = ¦|E(Ω)x¦|2 and μy(Ω) = ¦|E(Ω)y¦|2. In this paper we study the maximum-minimum value of polynomials over the integer ring Z. In particular, we prove the following: Let F(x,y) be a polynomial over Z. Then, maxxZ(T)minyZ|F(x,y)|=o(T1/2) as T→∞ if and only if there is a positive integer B such that maxxZminyZ|F(x,y)|?B. We then apply these results to exponential diophantine equations and obtain that: Let f(x,y), g(x,y) and G(x,y) be polynomials over Q, G(x,y)∈(Q[x,y]−Q[x])∪Q, and b a positive integer. For every α in Z, there is a y in Z such that f(α,y)+g(α,y)bG(α,y)=0 if and only if for every integer α there exists an h(x)∈Q[x] such that f(x,h(x))+g(x,h(x))bG(x,h(x))≡0, and h(α)∈Z.  相似文献

Given a compact boundaryless Riemannian manifold upon which a compact Lie group G acts by isometries, recall that the G-invariant Laplacian is the restriction of the ordinary Laplacian on functions to the space of functions which are constant along the orbits of the action. By considering the wave trace of the invariant Laplacian and the connection between G manifolds and Riemannian foliations, invariants of the spectrum of the G-invariant Laplacian can be computed. These invariants include the lengths of certain geodesic arcs which are orthogonal to the principal orbits and contained in the open dense set of principal orbits are associated to the singularities of the wave trace of the G-invariant spectrum. If the action admits finite orbits, then the invariants also include the lengths of certain geodesics arcs connecting the finite orbit to itself. Under additional hypotheses, we obtain partial wave traces. As an application, a partial trace formula for Riemannian foliations with bundle-like metrics is also presented, as well as several special cases where better results are available.  相似文献

The principal result of this paper is that the convex combination of two positive, invertible, commuting isometries ofL p(X,F, μ) 1<p<+∞, one of which is periodic, admits a dominated estimate with constantp/p−1. In establishing this, the following analogue of Linderholm’s theorem is obtained: Let σ and ε be two commuting non-singular point transformations of a Lebesgue Space with τ periodic. Then given ε>O, there exists a periodic non-singular point transformation σ′ such that σ′ commutes with τ and μ(x:σ′x≠σx}<ε. Byan approximation argument, the principal result is applied to the convex combination of two isometries ofL p (0, 1) induced by point transformations of the form τx=x k,k>0 to show that such convex combinations admit a dominated estimate with constantp/p−1. Existence of generalized solution is obtained by a finite element method, provided f(x, y, u) satisfies Carathéodory condition and |f(x, y, u)| ≤ Q(x, y) + b|u| with QL2(G), b = const > 0. It is shown also that each generalized solution is a strong solution, and that fact is used to prove uniqueness under the additional assumption |f(x, y, u1) – f(x, y, u2| ≤ C|u1u2|, where C = const > 0.  相似文献

Let G=(V1,V2;E) be a bipartite graph with |V1|=|V2|=3k, where k>0. In this paper it is proved that if d(x)+d(y)≥4k−1 for every pair of nonadjacent vertices xV1, yV2, then G contains k−1 independent cycles of order 6 and a path of order 6 such that all of them are independent. Furthermore, if d(x)+d(y)≥4k for every pair of nonadjacent vertices xV1, yV2 and k>2, then G contains k−2 independent cycles of order 6 and a cycle of order 12 such that all of them are independent.  相似文献

In this article, we study an important subalgebra of the tensor product partition algebra P k (x)? P k (y), denoted by P k (x, y) and called “Class Partition Algebra.” We show that the algebra P k (n, m) is the centralizer algebra of the wreath product S m ? S n . Furthermore, the algebra P k (x, y) and the tensor product partition algebra P k (x)? Periodic solutions of arbitrary period to semilinear partial differential equations of Zabusky or Boussinesq type are obtained. More generally, for a linear differential operator A(y,∂), the equation A(y,∂)u = (−1)∣γ∣γf(y,∂γu), y = (t,x)∈ℝk×G is studied, where homogeneous boundary conditions on ∂G and periodicity conditions on t are imposed. For a sample of iid observations {(XiYi)} from an absolutely continuous distribution, the multivariate dependence of concomitants Y[]=(Y[1]Y[2], …, Y[n]) and the stochastic order of subsets of Y[] are studied. If (XY) is totally positive dependent of order 2, Y[] is multivariate totally positive dependent of order 2. If the conditional hazard rate function of Y given X, hYX(yx), is decreasing in x for every y, Y[] is multivariate right corner set increasing. We introduce operators of q-fractional integration through inverses of the Askey–Wilson operator and use them to introduce a q-fractional calculus. We establish the semigroup property for fractional integrals and fractional derivatives. We study properties of the kernel of q-fractional integral and show how they give rise to a q-analogue of Bernoulli polynomials, which are now polynomials of two variables, x and y. As q→1 the polynomials become polynomials in xy, a convolution kernel in one variable. We also evaluate explicitly a related kernel of a right inverse of the Askey–Wilson operator on an L2 space weighted by the weight function of the Askey–Wilson polynomials.  相似文献

In 1975, Lovász conjectured that for any positive integer k, there exists a minimum positive integer f(k) such that, for any two vertices x, y in any f(k)-connected graph G, there is a path P from x to y in G such that GV(P) is k-connected. A result of Tutte implies f(1) = 3. Recently, f(2) = 5 was shown by Chen et al. and, independently, by Kriesell. The Erdős-Sós conjecture says that a graph G on n vertices and number of edges e(G) > n(k− 1)/2 contains all trees of size k. In this paper we prove a sufficient condition for a graph to contain every tree of size k formulated in terms of the minimum edge degree ζ(G) of a graph G defined as ζ(G) = min{d(u) + d(v) − 2: uvE(G)}. More precisely, we show that a connected graph G with maximum degree Δ(G) ≥ k and minimum edge degree ζ(G) ≥ 2k − 4 contains every tree of k edges if d G (x) + d G (y) ≥ 2k − 4 for all pairs x, y of nonadjacent neighbors of a vertex u of d G (u) ≥ k.  相似文献

We study Toeplitz–Schur multipliers of the Schatten–von Neumann class S p for 0 < p < 1. We describe all functions F on an arbitrary commutative locally compact group G satisfying the following condition: for any integral operator in S p with kernel function k(x,y), the kernel function F(x-y)k(x)k(y) defines also an integral operator in S p.
