The QCD sum rule for the Δ (1232) is considered in the instanton medium. It is found that the instanton effect improves the chirally odd sum rule significantly. This indicates that the operator product expansion does not converge rapidly in the delta state. The chirally even sum rule of Δ suggests that the “standard” value of the higher dimensional condensate m0 is much smaller than that derived from the instanton model.  相似文献

We present relativistic three-body calculations for the real part of the π-4He scattering length Re a. Nucleon binding, exclusion principle and Fermi motion are all included in a very careful manner. Because of our careful evaluation of the single-scattering process the remaining discrepancies with the experimental data can be attributed to higher-order mechanisms involving more than one nucleon. In particular for the πA S-wave interaction at threshold, one expects that these higher-order contributions arise largely from the absorption effect. We have performed our calculations for four current models of the input πN t-matrix. Using a πN t-matrix which reproduces the low energy πN phase shifts correctly leads to Re aabs -Im aabs, if we attribute the discrepancy of the calculated value with the accurately determined empirical value of Re a to pion absorption. We determine the strength parameter B0 in a p2 optical potential term from an adjustment to the π-4He scattering length. Finally some cross sections are calculated for Tlabπ = 10 MeV and Tlabπ = 15 MeV.  相似文献

In a kinematically complete experiment at the Mainz microtron MAMI, pion angular distributions of the 3He(e,e′π+)3H reaction have been measured in the excitation region of the Δ resonance to determine the longitudinal (L), transverse (T), and the LT interference part of the differential cross section. The data are described only after introducing self-energy modifications of the pion and Δ-isobar propagators. Using Chiral Perturbation Theory (ChPT) to extrapolate the pion self energy as inferred from the measurement on the mass shell, we deduce a reduction of the π+ mass of MeV/c2 in the neutron-rich nuclear medium at a density of fm−3. Our data are consistent with the Δ self energy determined from measurements of π0 photoproduction from 4He and heavier nuclei.  相似文献

The possibility of describing the high-energy reaction πpπ0n with two Regge trajectories (t) and '(t) is studied in more detail. These trajectories are assumed to be exactly linear in t, with (t) constrained to pass through (m2) = 1. We examine hypotheses in which (t) obeys either the Gell-Mann mechanism or the Chew mechanism, and in which '(t) is or is not a conspiring trajectory. The model is in good agreement with the data in practically all cases; greater experimental accuracy would be necessary to distinguish between the various hypothesis. Predictions are given for the neutron polarization at |t| < 1 GeV2.  相似文献

It is shown that direct photons provide a leading twist mechanism for diffractive jet production in which the jets carry away all of the momentum lost by the proton. Two-photon processes are thus expected to asymptotically dominate “super-hard” pomeron events in ep collisions. We report the expected rates from these events for recent ZEUS and H1 data cuts. We also estimate the direct photon contribution to the “super-hard” pomeron events observed by the CERN UA8 group for collisions. It is again argued that direct photons are the leading mechanism for these events. We find that direct photons are an appreciable fraction of the events seen by UA8.  相似文献

A model for the γp → π+πp reaction developed earlier is extended to account for all isospin channels. The model includes N, Δ(1232), N*(1440) and N*(1520) as intermediate baryonic states and the meson as an intermediate 2π resonance. Although many terms contribute to the cross section, some channels exhibit particular sensitivity to certain mechanisms of resonance excitation or decay and the reactions provide novel information on such mechanisms. In particular the γNN*(1520) → Δπ process affects all the channels and is a key ingredient in the interpretation of the data. Comparison is made with all available data and the agreement is good in some channels. The remaining discrepancies in some other channels are discussed.  相似文献

We calculate the order s2 and order s3 QCD contributions to colour-singlet exchange in the leading log s approximation. We implement the resulting amplitude at the hadronic level and thus construct the QCD pomeron and odderon to this order of perturbation theory. We show that the structure of the hadronic form factors provides a natural mechanism through which the odderon gets suppressed at t = 0 whereas it dominates the elastic cross section at large t. We also demonstrate that the inclusion of nonperturbative effects through a modification of the gluon propagator accelerates greatly the convergence of the log s expansion, although not enough to provide agreement with the data.  相似文献

We calculate the corrections to various low-energy theorems concerning the behaviour of the pseudoscalar meson form factors near t=0. In particular we discuss (i) the Ademollo-Gatto theorem, (ii) Sirlin's relation between the Kl3 form factor ƒ+(t) and the electromagnetic form factors, (iii) the Callan-Treiman relation, and (iv) the Dashen-Weinstein relation, which connects the slope λ0 of ƒ0(t) with the ratio FK/Fπ. Furthermore, we point out a remarkable isospin breaking effect which is clearly visible in the experimental rates of the decays K+→π0e+ν, K0→πe+ν.  相似文献

We study the cross sections for the production of neneural, intermediate mass Higgs boson in the process pptq′φ, pptWφ and ppbZ0φ in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (φ = H0, h0 and A0) at Supercollider energies. The additional heavy particles (t, W, Z) in the final state can be used for tagging purposes, increasing the signal to background ratio. These reactions are dominated by bg and bg fusion. Their relevance for Higgs particle searches is discussed taking into account the expected efficiencies and purities for b-tagging. We find that, for tan β = 30, the cross sections for ppbZ0φ are larger than 14 pb, over the whole intemediate range of MA0, for A0 and at least one of the other two Higgses. Therefore this reaction is an excellent candidate for the discovery of one or more MSSM Higgs particles.  相似文献

The equilibrium statistical volume distribution in foams, which has been previously demonstrated to be the so-called log-normal, is accounted on probability grounds by a scaling law on the bubble's volume time-evolution. This law states that the conditional probability for a given bubble to have the volume v(t + Δt), he assumption that it was v(t), to depend solely on the relationship v(t + Δt)/v(t), and in particular, to be independent of the time t. The theoretical results, however, allow to go further. A new form of the relativistic three-body equations for the coupled πN and γN scattering reactions with three particle final states ππN and γπN is suggested. These equations are derived in the framework of the time-ordered three dimensional field theory. The solutions of the considered equations satisfy the unitarity condition and are exactly gauge invariant. The form of these three-body equations is does not depend on the choice of the model of Lagrangian and is also the same for the formulations with and without quark degrees of freedom.

The effective potentials of the suggested equations are defined by the vertex functions with two on-mass shell particles. It is emphasized that these input vertex functions can be constructed from experimental data. Special attention is given to the construction of the propagator of the Δ-resonance in the framework of the separable πN potential model. The strong dependence of the multichannel πN and γN cross sections on the form of the Δ-resonance propagator[2] is discussed.

The used formulation of the relativistic three-dimensional and three-body equations allows us to overcome a number of approximations which are usually used by practical calculations of the πN and γN scattering reactions.  相似文献

Phase slippage is required at the current electrodes of quasi-one-dimensional conductors with a charge density wave (CDW) ground state for the conversion from free to condensed carriers. We have performed at the ESRF high-resolution X-ray measurements of the spatially varying shift q(x) of the CDW satellite wave vector between current contacts on a thin NbSe3 whisker in the sliding state. Applying direct currents, we observe at 90 K a steep exponential decrease of the shift within a few hundred microns from the contact. The CDW strain profile q(x) reflects the carrier conversion process, via nucleation and growth of phase-dislocation loops. Pulsed current measurements of the shift q show important differences between pulsed and dc current data, revealing a spatially dependent relaxational behaviour of the CDW strain. Using time-resolved high spatial resolution X-ray we observe at 300 μm from the electrode a stretched exponential-type decay of the shift q(t) upon switching off the current (T=75 K): q(t)=q0[exp(−t/τ)μ] with τ=23 ms and μ=0.36.  相似文献

Baryon Regge-pole contributions to u-channel helicity amplitudes for the γN→πN processes are derived, with attention to kinematic singularities and threshold conditions. An N, Nγ and Δδ Regge-exchange model is proposed that describes the backward scattering data on γp→πop and γp→π+n at high energy. The N and Nγ trajectories are found to be nearly degenerate, with residues in the ratio β(Nγ)/β(N)≈0.6. Structure in the differential cross sections is explained as dominance at small u giving way to dominance at large u. An isoscaar-isovector admixture for the γ-coupling to is required by the fits. The solution extrapolates through the mean γp→πop 180o differential cross section at intermediate energies, as required by duality.  相似文献

The production rate for η′ in ppppη′ at rest is calculated in a covariant one boson exchange model, previously applied to study π0 and η production in NN collisions. The transition amplitudes for the elementary BN → η′N processes with B being the meson exchanged (B = π, σ, η, , ω and a0) are taken to be the sum of s- and u-channels with a nucleon in the intermediate states, and an a0 meson pole in a t-channel. The couplings of the η′ to hadrons are a factor 0.4 weaker than the respective η-hadron couplings, as suggested by a quark model and a singlet-octet mixing angle θ = −23°. The model reproduces near threshold cross sections for the quasielastic processes πpnη(η′) and ppppη(η′) reactions.  相似文献

Sub-poissonian photon statistics and antibunching by the definition based on the positive derivative of g(2) (t, t+τ) as a function of the delay time τ at τ=0 are treated in a single-mode single-two-level-atom model. It is shown, in particular, that sub-poissonian behaviour may be accompanied by bunching or antibunching and photon-antibunching may be accompanied by sub-poissonian or super-poissonian field statistics. It is also shown that the photon-antibunching persists with increasing mean photon number of an initial chaotic state while the sub-Poisson behaviour disappears.  相似文献

We introduce a new parameterization of four-fermion operator matrix elements which does not involve quark masses and thus allows a reduction of systematic uncertainties. In order to simplify the matching between lattice and continuum renormalization schemes, we express our results in terms of renormalization group invariant B-parameters which are renormalization-scheme and scale independent. As an application of our proposal, matrix elements of ΔI=3/2 and SUSY ΔS=2 operators have been computed. The calculations have been performed using the tree-level improved Clover lattice action at two different values of the strong coupling constant (β=6/g2=6.0 and 6.2), in the quenched approximation. Renormalization constants and mixing coefficients of lattice operators have been obtained non-perturbatively. Using lowest order χPT, we also obtain ππ|O7|KNDRI=2=(0.11±0.02) GeV4 and ππ|O8|KNDRI=2=(0.51±0.05) GeV4 at μ=2 GeV.  相似文献

Anomalies are found in the near-band-edge luminescence properties of Δ2-light-hole indirect excitons in Si1−yCy-based tensilely strained quantum wells (QWs). The experimental spectra exhibit a clear signature of phonon-assisted transitions on the lower energy side of the “no-phonon” transition, which indicates the relevance of “virtual” indirect valleys and in-plane k-dispersion, as opposed to the theoretical prediction that the zone-centered Δ2 valleys take over the conduction band edge. Intervalley scattering between [0 0 1]-Δ2 valleys and in-plane Δ4 valleys is suggested as the underlying mechanism. On the other hand, the experimental evidence was found for “apparently enhanced” quantum-confined Stark red shifts for Si1−yCy-based QWs. However, quantitative estimates are in conflict with the experimental results and predict a blue shift due to exciton weakening which masks the Stark effect as in the case of Δ4-heavy hole excitons in Si1−xGex-based QWs.  相似文献
