The amphiphilic organoboron block copolymer poly (styreneboronic acid)‐block‐polystyrene ( PSBA‐b‐PS ) has been prepared through a postpolymerization modification route from the silicon‐functionalized block copolymer poly(4‐trimethylsilylstyrene)‐block‐polystyrene ( PSSi‐b‐PS ). PSBA‐b‐PS is obtained through highly selective reaction of PSSi‐b‐PS with BBr3 at room temperature and subsequent hydrolysis of the BBr2‐functionalized intermediate. Transmission electron microscopy studies demonstrate that PSBA‐b‐PS undergoes pH dependent micellization in aqueous solution. Different morphologies could be realized by using different mixtures of water and organic solvents. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 48: 2438–2445, 2010  相似文献

Stimuli‐responsive poly[(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐maleic anhydride)‐g‐poly(ethylene oxide)]/poly(ethylene imine) macrobranched macrocomplexes were synthesized by (1) the radical copolymerization of N‐isopropylacrylamide and maleic anhydride with α,α′‐azobisisobutyronitrile as an initiator in 1,4‐dioxane at 65 °C under a nitrogen atmosphere, (2) the polyesterification (grafting) of prepared poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐maleic anhydride) containing less than 20 mol % anhydride units with α‐hydroxy‐ω‐methoxy‐poly(ethylene oxide)s having different number‐average molecular weights (Mn = 4000, 10,000, or 20,000), and (3) the incorporation of macrobranched copolymers with poly(ethylene imine) (Mn = 60,000). The composition and structure of the synthesized copolymer systems were determined by Fourier transform infrared, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, and chemical and elemental analyses. The important properties of the copolymer systems (e.g., the viscosity, thermal and pH sensitivities, and lower critical solution temperature behavior) changed with increases in the molecular weight, composition, and length of the macrobranched hydrophobic domains. These copolymers with reactive anhydride and carboxylic groups were used for the stabilization of penicillin G acylase (PGA). The conjugation of the enzyme with the copolymers significantly increased the thermal stability of PGA (three times at 45 °C and two times at 65 °C). © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Generalized two‐dimensional (2D) Fourier transform infrared correlation spectroscopy was used to investigate the effect of the comonomer compositions on the crystallization behavior of two types of biosynthesized random copolymers, poly(hydroxybutyrate‐co‐hydroxyhexanoate) and poly(hydroxybutyrate‐co‐hydroxyvalerate). The carbonyl absorption band around 1730 cm?1 was sensitive to the degree of crystallinity. 2D correlation analysis demonstrated that the 3‐hydroxyhexanoate units preferred to remain in the amorphous phase of the semicrystalline poly(hydroxybutyrate‐co‐hydroxyhexanoate) copolymer, resulting in decreases in the degree of crystallinity and the rate of the crystallization process. The poly(hydroxybutyrate‐co‐hydroxyvalerate) copolymer maintained a high degree of crystallinity when the 3‐hydroxyvalerate fraction was increased from 0 to 25 mol % because of isodimorphism. The crystalline and amorphous absorption bands for the carbonyl bond for this copolymer, therefore, changed simultaneously. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of gradient and block copolymers, based on 2‐(2‐methoxyethoxy)ethyl methacrylate (MEO2MA) and tert‐butyl acrylate (tBA), were synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) in a first step. The MEO2MA monomer leads to the production of thermosensitive polymers, exhibiting lower critical solution temperature (LCST) at around room temperature, which could be adjusted by changing the proportion of tBA in the copolymer. In a second step, the tert‐butyl groups of tBA were hydrolyzed with trifluoroacetic acid to form the corresponding block and gradient copolymers of MEO2MA and acrylic acid (AA), which exhibited both temperature and pH‐responsive behavior. These copolymers showed LCST values strongly dependent on the pH. At acid pH, a slightly decrease of LCST with an increase of AA in the copolymer was observed. However, at neutral or basic conditions, ionization of acid groups increases the hydrophilic balance considerably raising the LCST values, which even become not observable over the temperature range under study. In the last step, these carboxylic functionalized copolymers were covalently bound to biocompatible and biodegradable films of poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate‐co‐3‐hydroxyhexanoate) [P(HB‐co‐HHx)] obtained by casting and, previously treated with ethylenediamine (ED) to render their surfaces with amino groups. Thereby, thermosensitive surfaces of modified P(HB‐co‐HHx) could be obtained. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2011  相似文献

Methylated and pegylated poly(lactide)‐block‐poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐block‐poly(lactide) copolymers, PLA–P(CL‐co‐CLCH3)–PLA and PLA–P(CL‐co‐CLPEG)–PLA, were prepared in three steps: combining the formation of carbanion‐bearing dihydroxylated‐PCL, the coupling of iodomethane or bromoacetylated α‐hydroxyl‐ω‐methoxy‐poly(ethylene glycol) onto the carbanionic PCL, and finally the ring opening polymerization of DL ‐lactide initiated by the preformed grafted diOH‐PCL copolymers. The resulting block copolymers exhibited lower crystallinity, melting temperature, and hydrophobicity with respect to the original PCL. Degradation of the grafted copolymers was investigated in the presence of Pseudomonas cepacia lipase and compared with that of the triblock copolymer precursor. It is shown that the presence of the grafted substituents affected the enzymatic degradation of PCL segments. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Double hydrophilic poly(ethylene oxide)‐b‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PEO‐b‐PNIPAM) block copolymers were synthesized via reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization, using a PEO‐based chain transfer agent (PEO‐CTA). The molecular structures of the copolymers were designed to be asymmetric with a short PEO block and long PNIPAM blocks. Temperature‐induced aggregation behavior of the block copolymers in dilute aqueous solutions was systematically investigated by a combination of static and dynamic light scattering. The effects of copolymer composition, concentration (Cp), and heating rate on the size, aggregation number, and morphology of the aggregates formed at temperatures above the LCST were studied. In slow heating processes, the aggregates formed by the copolymer having the longest PNIPAM block, were found to have the same morphology (spherical “crew‐cut” micelles) within the full range of Cp. Nevertheless, for the copolymer having the shortest PNIPAM block, the morphology of the aggregates showed a great dependence on Cp. Elongation of the aggregates from spherical to ellipsoidal or even cylindrical was observed. Moreover, vesicles were observed at the highest Cp investigated. Fast heating leads to different characteristics of the aggregates, including lower sizes and aggregation numbers, higher densities, and different morphologies. Thermodynamic and kinetic mechanisms were proposed to interpret these observations, including the competition between PNIPAM intrachain collapse and interchain aggregation. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The triblock copolymer poly(ϵ‐caprolactone)‐block‐poly[(methyl methacrylate)‐co‐styrene]‐block‐poly(ϵ‐caprolactone) was synthesized by a combination of coordination polymerization and controlled radical mechanism. The poly(ϵ‐caprolactone) prepolymers (PCLBP) were first obtained by coordination polymerization using benzopinacol as the initiator and aluminium triisopropoxide as the promoter at room temperature. It was determined by means of UV and NMR spectroscopy that the benzopinacolate groups are left intact in the PCLBP prepolymers; no isomerization was found. The benzopinacolate groups incorporated into the poly(ϵ‐caprolactone) then initiate the copolymerization of styrene (St) and methyl methacrylate (MMA) via a controlled radical mechanism at 95°C. The desired block copolymers were characterized by GPC, IR, UV and NMR spectroscopy in detail.  相似文献

Double hydrophilic diblock copolymer, poly(N,N‐dimethylacrylamide)‐b‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐3‐azidopropylacrylamide) (PDMA‐b‐P(NIPAM‐co‐AzPAM), containing azide moieties in one of the blocks was synthesized via consecutive reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer polymerization. The obtained diblock copolymer molecularly dissolves in aqueous solution at room temperature, and can further supramolecularly self‐assemble into core‐shell nanoparticles consisting of thermoresponsive P(NIPAM‐co‐AzPAM) cores and water‐soluble PDMA coronas above the lower critical solution temperature of P(NIPAM‐co‐AzPAM) block. As the micelle cores contain reactive azide residues, core crosslinking can be facilely achieved upon addition of difunctional propargyl ether via click chemistry. In an alternate approach in which the PDMA‐b‐P(NIPAM‐co‐AzPAM) diblock copolymer was dissolved in a common organic solvent (DMF), the core‐crosslinked (CCL) micelles can be fabricated via “click” crosslinking upon addition of propargyl ether and subsequent dialysis against water. CCL micelles prepared by the latter approach typically possess larger sizes and broader size distributions, compared with that obtained by the former one. In both cases, the obtained (CCL) micelles possess thermoresponsive cores, and the swelling/shrinking of which can be finely tuned with temperature, rendering them as excellent candidates as intelligent drug nanocarriers. Because of the high efficiency and quite mild conditions of click reactions, we expect that this strategy can be generalized for the structural fixation of other self‐assembled nanostructures. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The multi‐thermo‐responsive block copolymer of poly[2‐(2‐methoxyethoxy)ethyl methacrylate]‐block‐poly[N‐(4‐vinylbenzyl)‐N,N‐diethylamine] (PMEO2MA‐b‐PVEA) displaying phase transition at both the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) and the upper critical solution temperature (UCST) in the alcohol/water mixture is synthesized by reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer polymerization. The poly[2‐(2‐methoxyethoxy)ethyl methacrylate] (PMEO2MA) block exhibits the UCST phase transition in alcohol and the LCST phase transition in water, while the poly[N‐(4‐vinylbenzyl)‐N,N‐diethylamine] (PVEA) block shows the UCST phase transition in isopropanol and the LCST phase transition in the alcohol/water mixture. Both the polymer molecular weight and the co‐solvent/nonsolvent exert great influence on the LCST or UCST of the block copolymer. By adjusting the solvent character including the water content and the temperature, the block copolymer undergoes multiphase transition at LCST or UCST, and various block copolymer morphologies including inverted micelles, core‐corona micelles, and corona‐collapsed micelles are prepared. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of novel poly(ester‐carbonate)s bearing pendant allyl ester groups P(LA‐co‐MAC)s were prepared by ring‐opening copolymerization of L ‐lactide (LA) and 5‐methyl‐5‐allyloxycarbonyl‐1,3‐dioxan‐2‐one (MAC) with diethyl zinc (ZnEt2) as initiator. NMR analysis investigated the microstructure of the copolymer. DSC results indicated that the copolymers displayed a single glass‐transition temperature (Tg), which was indicative of a random copolymer, and the Tg decreased with increasing carbonate content in the copolymer. Then NHS‐activated folic acid (FA) first reacted with 2‐aminoethanethiol to yield FA‐SH; grafting FA‐SH to P(LA‐co‐MAC) in the presence of TEA produced P(LA‐co‐MAC)/FA. The structure of P(LA‐co‐MAC)/FA and its precursor were confirmed by 1H NMR and XPS analysis. Cell experiments showed that FA‐grafted P(LA‐co‐MAC) had improved adhesion and proliferation behavior of vero cells on the polymer films. Therefore, the novel FA‐grafted block copolymer is expected to find application in drug delivery or tissue engineering. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The phase behavior of poly(N‐tertbutylacrylamide‐co‐acrylamide) (PNTBAM) in pure water and mixture of water–methanol is studied at different temperatures. The different compositions of PNTBAM are prepared by free‐radical polymerization technique and their phase behavior is studied by turbidimetry. The effects of copolymer and solvent composition on the phase behavior of the copolymers are discussed. It has been suggested that the inhomogenities in polymer chains are responsible for lowering the rate of phase transition by increasing the N‐tertbutylacrylamide (NTBAM) and methanol contents in copolymer and mixture, respectively. For the first time we have revealed that there are second‐order binary interactions in the water–methanol which are dominant in the special range of copolymer composition. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The BAB‐type triblock copolymers composed of a central poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO, nPEO = 1 000) block and two poly[(D ,L ‐lactic acid)‐co‐(glycolic acid)] end blocks with molecular weights between 900 and 1 600 exhibited an interesting phase transition behavior. The copolymer aqueous solution can form micelles with PLGA loops in the core and a PEO shell and groups of micelles because of bridging between micelles caused by the PLGA blocks with raising temperature. A possible micellar gelation mechanism was suggested.  相似文献

The solution properties of random and block copolymers based on 2‐ethyl‐2‐oxazoline (EtOx) and 2‐nonyl‐2‐oxazoline (NonOx) were investigated in binary solvent mixtures ranging from pure water to pure ethanol. The solubility phase diagrams for the random and block copolymers revealed solubility (after heating), insolubility, dispersions, micellization as well as lower critical solution temperature (LCST) and upper critical solution temperature behavior. The random and block copolymers containing over 60 mol % pNonOx were found to be solubilized in ethanol upon heating, whereas the dissolution temperature of the block copolymers was found to be much higher than for the random copolymers due to the higher extent of crystallinity. Furthermore, the block copolymer containing 10 mol % pNonOx exhibited a LCST in aqueous solution at 68.7 °C, whereas the LCST for the random copolymer was found to be only 20.8 °C based on the formation of hydrophobic microdomains in the block copolymer. The random copolymer displayed a small increase in LCST up to a solvent mixture of 9 wt % EtOH, whereas further increase of ethanol led to a decrease in LCST, which is probably due to the “water‐breaking” effect causing an increased attraction between ethanol and the hydrophobic part of the copolymer. In addition, the EtOx‐NonOx block copolymers revealed the formation of micelles and dynamic light scattering demonstrated that the micellar size is increasing with increasing the ethanol content due to the enhanced solubility of EtOx. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel methacrylate monomer bearing 5,10,15,20‐tetraphenylporphyrinato palladium(II) (PdTPP) (monomer 1a ) was synthesized and copolymerized with isobutyl methacrylate (IBM) and 2,2,2‐trifluoroethyl methacrylate (TFEM) to give poly (IBM‐co‐TFEM) bearing PdTPP (copolymer 2a ) as a dye‐conjugated oxygen‐permeable polymer for pressure‐sensitive paint applications. The introduction of PdTPP into copolymer 2a was confirmed by UV–vis spectroscopy and extended X‐ray absorption fine structure analysis. The Stern–Volmer plots of the copolymer 2a and a mixture of PdTPP and poly(IBM‐co‐TFEM) both showed downward curvature, unlike that of the platinum complex analogue (copolymer 2b ) previously reported. The plots were successfully fitted with a two‐site model to give two distinct Stern–Volmer constants (KSV1 and KSV2) and the partition ratio f1. Interestingly, the f1 values for the copolymer 2a were almost constant at about 0.98, whereas those of the mixture of PdTPP and poly(IBM‐co‐TFEM) increased from 0.889 to 0.967 as the temperature was increased. This finding suggests that there are two distinct microheterogeneities, one temperature‐dependent and the other temperature‐independent, in the mixture of PdTPP and poly(IBM‐co‐TFEM). The dye‐conjugation approach effectively eliminates the temperature‐dependent, but not the temperature‐independent microheterogeneity. The luminescence decays of copolymers 2a and 2b and the corresponding mixtures in the absence of oxygen indicated that the temperature‐dependent microheterogeneity involves an oxygen diffusion process, whereas the temperature‐independent one appears to be inherent nature in PdTPP. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A detailed study of the pH‐ and sugar‐responsive behavior of poly(3‐acrylamidophenylboronic acid pinacol ester)‐b‐poly(N,N‐dimethylacrylamide) (PAPBAE‐b‐PDMA) block copolymers is presented. Reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization of the pinacol ester of 3‐acrylamidophenylboronic acid resulted in homopolymers with molecular weights between 12,000 and 37,000 g/mol. The resulting homopolymers were employed as macro‐chain transfer agents during the polymerization of N,N‐dimethylacrylamide (DMA). Successful chain extension and removal of the pinacol protecting groups to yield poly(3‐acrylamidophenylboronic acid)‐b‐PDMA (PAPBA‐b‐PDMA) with free boronic acid moieties resulted in pH‐ and sugar‐responsive block copolymers that were subsequently investigated for their behavior in aqueous solution. The PAPBA‐b‐PDMA block copolymers were capable of solution self‐assembly due to the PAPBA block being water‐insoluble below its pKa. The resulting aggregates were demonstrated to solubilize and release model hydrophobic compounds, as demonstrated by fluorescence studies. Dissociation of the aggregates was induced by raising the pH above the pKa of the boronic acid residues or by adding sugars capable of forming boronate esters. Aggregate size, dissociation kinetics, and the effect of various sugars were considered. The critical sugar concentration needed to induce aggregate dissociation was tuned by incorporation of hydrophilic DMA units within the PAPBA responsive segment to yield PDMA‐b‐poly(3‐acrylamidophenylboronic acid‐co‐DMA) block copolymers. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Novel and well‐defined amphiphilic dendrimer‐star copolymer poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐block‐(poly(2‐(2‐methoxyethoxy)ethylmethacrylate‐co‐oligo(ethylene glycol) methacrylate))2 with Y‐shaped arms were synthesized by the combination of ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The investigation of thermal properties and the analysis of crystalline morphology indicate that the high‐branched structure of dendrimer‐star copolymers with Y‐shaped arms and the presence of amorphous P(MEO2MA‐co‐OEGMA) segments together led to the complete destruction of crystallinity of the PCL segments in the dendrimer‐star copolymer. In addition, the hydrophilicity–hydrophobicity transition of the dendrimer‐star copolymer film can be achieved by altering the external temperatures. The amphiphilic copolymers can self‐assemble into spherical nanomicelles in water. Because the lower critical solution temperature of the copolymers can be adjusted by varying the ratio of MEO2MA and OEGMA, the tunable thermosensitive properties can be observed by transmittance, dynamic laser light scattering, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The release rate of model drug chlorambucil from the micelles can be effectively controlled by changing the external temperatures, which indicates that these unique high‐branched amphiphilic copolymers have the potential applications in biomedical field. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. RAFT homopolymerization of 2‐(diisopropylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DPA) and 2‐(diethylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DEA) and their random copolymerization were investigated. The random copolymers of DPA‐ran‐DEA were synthesized and used as macro‐CTA to prepare poly(DPA‐ran‐DEA)‐b‐poly(N‐(2‐hydroxypropyl) methacrylamide) amphiphilic block copolymers. The 1H NMR and GPC measurements confirmed the successful synthesis of these copolymers. The potentiometric titration results showed that the pKb values of these copolymers were in the range of 6.7 ~ 7.7 and linearly varied with the DPA/DEA composition, regardless of the block length of HPMA. The pH‐induced micellization in PBS solution was verified by fluorescence spectroscopy. The dynamic light scattering evaluation showed that the hydrodynamic diameters of these micelles are between 37 ~ 43 nm © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel amphiphilic thermosensitive poly(ethylene glycol)45b‐poly(methyl methacrylate46co‐3‐(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate)2b‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide)429 (PEG45b‐P(MMA46co‐MPMA2)‐b‐PNIPAAm429) triblock copolymer was synthesized via consecutive atom transfer radical polymerization techniques. The thermoinduced association behavior of the resulting triblock copolymers in aqueous medium was further investigated in detail by 1H NMR, transmission electron microscopy, and dynamic light scattering. The results showed that at the temperature (25 °C) below the LCST, PEG45b‐P(MMA46co‐MPMA2)‐b‐PNIPAAm429 triblock copolymers self‐assembled into the core crosslinked micelles with the hydrophobic P(MMA‐co‐MPMA) block constructing a dense core, protected by the mixed soluble PEG and PNIPAAm chains acting as a hydrophilic shell simultaneously. With an increase in temperature, the resulting core‐shell micelles converted into a new type of micelles with the hydrophilic PEG chains stretching out from the hydrophobic core through the collapsed PNIPAAm shell. On the other hand, at the temperature (40 °C) above the LCST, such triblock copolymers formed the crosslinked vesicles with the hydrophobic PNIPAAm and P(MMA‐co‐MPMA) blocks constructing a membrane core and the soluble PEG chains building the hydrophilic lumen and the shell. On further decreasing the temperature, the resulting vesicles underwent transformation from the shrunken to the expanded status, leading to the formation of swollen vesicles with enlarged size. This study is believed to present the first formation of two types of hybrid crosslinked self‐assemblies by thermoinduced regulation. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The synthesis and characterization of copolymers containing 2‐ethylhexyl methacrylate and a quadruple‐hydrogen‐bonding site, 2‐ureido‐4[1H]‐pyrimidone methacrylate (UPyMA), are described. An analogous dimeric hydrogen‐bond‐containing copolymer based on 2‐ethylhexyl methacrylate and methacrylic acid (PEHMA‐co‐MAA) was also synthesized for comparative purposes. The glass‐transition temperatures of the poly(2‐ethylhexyl methacrylate‐co‐2‐ureido‐4[1H]‐pyrimidone methacrylate) (PEHMA‐co‐UPyMA) series increased linearly with increasing UPyMA content. Creep compliance measurements as a function of temperature indicated a decrease in the creep compliance with increasing UPyMA content over the range of 1–10 mol % UPyMA. Melt rheological analysis also showed an increase and lengthening of the plateau modulus as a function of frequency with increasing UPyMA content, as well as increasing complex viscosity as a function of temperature. The analogous PEHMA‐co‐MAA copolymer, which contained 11 mol % methacrylic acid, showed, in the melt rheological analysis, behavior similar to that of the PEHMA‐co‐UPyMA copolymer containing only 1 mol % UPyMA units. The multiple‐hydrogen‐bond‐containing copolymers were successfully analyzed with time–temperature superposition for the construction of master curves. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Block copolymers on basis of poly(oxanorbornenes) bearing functional moieties in their side‐chains are prepared via a combination of ROMP‐methods and 1,3‐dipolar‐“click”‐reactions. Starting from N‐substituted‐ω‐bromoalkyl‐oxanorbornenes and alkyl‐/perfluoroalkyl‐oxanorbornenes, block copolymers with molecular weights up to 25,000 g mol?1 were generated. Subsequent nucleophilic exchange‐reactions yielded the block‐copolymers functionalized with ω‐azidoalkyl‐moieties in one block. The 1,3‐azide/alkine‐“click” reactions with a variety of terminal alkynes in the presence of a catalyst system consisting of tetrakis(acetonitrile)hexafluorophosphate copper(I) and tris(1‐benzyl‐5‐methyl‐1H‐ [1,2,3]triazol‐4‐ylmethyl)‐amine furnished the substituted block copolymers in high yields, as proven by NMR‐spectroscopy. The resulting polymers were investigated via temperature‐dependent SAXS‐methods, revealing their microphase separated structure as well as their temperature‐dependent behavior. The presented method offers the generation of a large set of different block‐copolymers from only a small set of starting materials because of the high versatility of the “click” reaction, thus enabling a simple and complete functionalization after the initial polymerization reaction. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
