We study the superconvergence property of fully discrete finite element approximation for quadratic optimal control problems governed by semilinear parabolic equations with control constraints. The time discretization is based on difference methods, whereas the space discretization is done using finite element methods. The state and the adjoint state are approximated by piecewise linear functions and the control is approximated by piecewise constant functions. First, we define a fully discrete finite element approximation scheme for the semilinear parabolic control problem. Second, we derive the superconvergence properties for the control, the state and the adjoint state. Finally, we do some numerical experiments for illustrating our theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper, a piecewise constant time-stepping discontinuous Galerkin method combined with a piecewise linear finite element method is applied to solve control constrained optimal control problem governed by time fractional diffusion equation. The control variable is approximated by variational discretization approach. The discrete first-order optimality condition is derived based on the first discretize then optimize approach. We demonstrate the commutativity of discretization and optimization for the time-stepping discontinuous Galerkin discretization. Since the state variable and the adjoint state variable in general have weak singularity near t =?0and t = T, a time adaptive algorithm is developed based on step doubling technique, which can be used to guide the time mesh refinement. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the theoretical findings.  相似文献

This article discusses a priori and a posteriori error estimates of discontinuous Galerkin finite element method for optimal control problem governed by the transport equation. We use variational discretization concept to discretize the control variable and discontinuous piecewise linear finite elements to approximate the state and costate variable. Based on the error estimates of discontinuous Galerkin finite element method for the transport equation, we get a priori and a posteriori error estimates for the transport equation optimal control problem. Finally, two numerical experiments are carried out to confirm the theoretical analysis.© 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 33: 1493–1512, 2017  相似文献

We consider elliptic optimal control problems with constraints on the gradient of the state and propose two distinguish concepts for their discretization. The first concept uses piecewise linear, continuous finite element Ansatz functions for the state, while the second concept uses the lowest order Raviart–Thomas mixed finite element. In both cases variational discretization from [5] is used for the controls. We present optimal finite element error estimates for the numerical solutions and confirm our theoretical findings by a numerical experiment. (© 2008 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. In this paper, we investigate the superconvergence of fully discrete splitting positive definite mixed finite element (MFE) methods for parabolic optimal control problems. For the space discretization, the state and co-state are approximated by the lowest order Raviart–Thomas MFE spaces and the control variable is approximated by piecewise constant functions. The time discretization of the state and co-state are based on finite difference methods. We derive the superconvergence between the projections of exact solutions and numerical solutions or the exact solutions and postprocessing numerical solutions for the control, state and co-state. A numerical example is provided to validate the theoretical results.  相似文献

The fast adaptive composite grid (FAC) method is an iterative method for solving discrete boundary value problems on composite grids. McCormick introduced the method in [8] and considered the convergence behaviour for discrete problems resulting from finite volume element discretization on composite grids. In this paper we consider discrete problems resulting from finite difference discretization on composite grids. We distinguish between two obvious discretization approaches at the grid points on the interfaces between fine and coarse subgrids. The FAC method for solving such discrete problems is described. In the FAC method several intergrid transfer operators appear. We study how the convergence behaviour depends on these intergrid transfer operators. Based on theoretical insights, (quasi-)optimal intergrid transfer operators are derived. Numerical results illustrate the fast convergence of the FAC method using these intergrid transfer operators.  相似文献

This paper is aimed at studying finite element discretization for a class of quadratic boundary optimal control problems governed by nonlinear elliptic equations. We derive a posteriori error estimates for the coupled state and control approximation. Such estimates can be used to construct a reliable adaptive finite element approximation for the boundary optimal control problem. Finally, we present a numerical example to confirm our theoretical results.  相似文献

Summary. The finite element method is a reasonable and frequently utilised tool for the spatial discretization within one time-step in an elastoplastic evolution problem. In this paper, we analyse the finite element discretization and prove a priori and a posteriori error estimates for variational inequalities corresponding to the primal formulation of (Hencky) plasticity. The finite element method of lowest order consists in minimising a convex function on a subspace of continuous piecewise linear resp. piecewise constant trial functions. An a priori error estimate is established for the fully-discrete method which shows linear convergence as the mesh-size tends to zero, provided the exact displacement field u is smooth. Near the boundary of the plastic domain, which is unknown a priori, it is most likely that u is non-smooth. In this situation, automatic mesh-refinement strategies are believed to improve the quality of the finite element approximation. We suggest such an adaptive algorithm on the basis of a computable a posteriori error estimate. This estimate is reliable and efficient in the sense that the quotient of the error by the estimate and its inverse are bounded from above. The constants depend on the hardening involved and become larger for decreasing hardening. Received May 7, 1997 / Revised version received August 31, 1998  相似文献

This paper is concerned with recovery type a posteriori error estimates of fully discrete finite element approximation for general convex parabolic optimal control problems with pointwise control constraints. The time discretization is based on the backward Euler method. The state and the adjoint state are approximated by piecewise linear functions and the control is approximated by piecewise constant functions. We derive the superconvergence properties of finite element solutions. By using the superconvergence results, we obtain recovery type a posteriori error estimates. Some numerical examples are presented to verify the theoretical results.  相似文献

We propose a characteristic finite element discretization of evolutionary type convection-diffusion optimal control problems. Nondivergence-free velocity fields and bilateral inequality control constraints are handled. Then some residual type a posteriori error estimates are analyzed for the approximations of the control, the state, and the adjoint state. Based on the derived error estimators, we use them as error indicators in developing efficient multi-set adaptive meshes characteristic finite element algorithm for such optimal control problems. Finally, one numerical example is given to check the feasibility and validity of multi-set adaptive meshes refinements.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with an optimal control problem governed by time-harmonic eddy current equations on a Lipschitz polyhedral domain. The controls are given by scalar functions entering in the coefficients of the curl-curl differential operator in the state equation. We present a mathematical analysis of the optimal control problem, including sensitivity analysis, regularity results, existence of an optimal control, and optimality conditions. Based on these results, we study the finite element analysis of the optimal control problem. Here, the state is discretized by the lowest order edge elements of Nédélec??s first family, and the control is discretized by continuous piecewise linear elements. Our main findings are convergence results of the finite element discretization (without a rate).  相似文献

A semi-linear elliptic control problems with distributed control and pointwise inequality constraints on the control and the state is considered. The general optimization problem is perturbed by a certain class of perturbations, and we establish convergence of local solutions of the perturbed problems to a local solution of the unperturbed optimal control problem. This class of perturbations include finite element discretization as well as data perturbation such that the theory implies convergence of finite element approximation and stability w.r.t.?noisy data.  相似文献

In this paper we analyze a characteristic finite element approximation of convex optimal control problems governed by linear convection-dominated diffusion equations with pointwise inequality constraints on the control variable, where the state and co-state variables are discretized by piecewise linear continuous functions and the control variable is approximated by either piecewise constant functions or piecewise linear discontinuous functions. A priori error estimates are derived for the state, co-state and the control. Numerical examples are given to show the efficiency of the characteristic finite element method.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss the superconvergence of mixed finite element methods for a semilinear elliptic control problem with an integral constraint. The state and costate are approximated by the order $k=1$ Raviart-Thomas mixed finite element spaces and the control variable is approximated by piecewise constant functions. Approximation of the optimal control of the continuous optimal control problem will be constructed by a projection of the discrete adjoint state. It is proved that this approximation has convergence order $h^{2}$ in $L^{\infty}$-norm. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper, we will investigate a two grid finite element discretization method for the semi‐linear hyperbolic integro‐differential equations by piecewise continuous finite element method. In order to deal with the semi‐linearity of the model, we use the two grid technique and derive that once the coarse and fine mesh sizes H, h satisfy the relation h = H2 for the two‐step two grid discretization method, the two grid method achieves the same convergence accuracy as the ordinary finite element method. Both theoretical analysis and numerical experiments are given to verify the results.  相似文献

We discuss several optimization procedures to solve finite element approximations of linear-quadratic Dirichlet optimal control problems governed by an elliptic partial differential equation posed on a 2D or 3D Lipschitz domain. The control is discretized explicitly using continuous piecewise linear approximations. Unconstrained, control-constrained, state-constrained and control-and-state constrained problems are analysed. A preconditioned conjugate method for a reduced problem in the control variable is proposed to solve the unconstrained problem, whereas semismooth Newton methods are discussed for the solution of constrained problems. State constraints are treated via a Moreau–Yosida penalization. Convergence is studied for both the continuous problems and the finite dimensional approximations. In the finite dimensional case, we are able to show convergence of the optimization procedures even in the absence of Tikhonov regularization parameter. Computational aspects are also treated and several numerical examples are included to illustrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper, a class of optimal switching control problems with prespecified order of the sequence of subsystems is considered, where the switching instants are included in the cost functional. Both the switching instants and the control function are to be chosen such that the cost functional is minimized. Through the discretization of the control space, each control component is approximated by a piecewise constant function. The partition points and the heights of each of these piecewise constant functions are taken as decision varibles. Using the control parameterization enhancing transform, we map both types of switching instants into preassigned knot points via the introduction of an additional control, known as the enhancing control. In this way, we construct a sequence of approximate optimal parameter selection problems with fixed switching time points. We then show that these approximate optimal parameter selection problems are solvable as mathematical programming problems. The convergence analysis of this approximation is investigated. Two examples are solved using the proposed method so as to demonstrate the effectiveness of the method proposed.  相似文献

Semilinear elliptic optimal control problems involving the $L^1$ norm of the control in the objective are considered. A priori finite element error estimates for piecewise linear discretizations for the control and the state are proved. These are obtained by a new technique based on an appropriate discretization of the objective function. Numerical experiments confirm the convergence rates.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the superconvergence property and a posteriori error estimates of mixed finite element methods for a linear elliptic control problem with an integral constraint. The state and co-state are approximated by the order k = 1 Raviart-Thomas mixed finite element spaces and the control variable is approximated by piecewise constant functions. Approximations of the optimal control of the continuous optimal control problem will be constructed by a projection of the discrete adjoint state. It is proved that these approximations have convergence order h 2. Moreover, we derive a posteriori error estimates both for the control variable and the state variables. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the theoretical results.  相似文献
