We present accurate differential and integral cross sections for the H + O2 --> OH + O reaction obtained on a newly developed ab initio potential energy surface using time-independent and time-dependent quantum mechanical methods. The product angular distributions near the reaction threshold show pronounced forward and backward peaks, reflecting the complex-forming mechanism. However, the asymmetry of these peaks suggests certain nonstatistical behaviors, presumably due to some relatively short-lived resonances. The integral cross section increases monotonically with the collision energy above a reaction threshold.  相似文献

In this paper, we report a combined experimental and theoretical study on the dynamics of the N(2D) + H2 insertion reaction at a collision energy of 15.9 kJ mol(-1). Product angular and velocity distributions have been obtained in crossed beam experiments and simulated by using the results of quantum mechanical (QM) scattering calculations on the accurate ab initio potential energy surface (PES) of Pederson et al. (J. Chem. Phys. 1999, 110, 9091). Since the QM calculations indicate that there is a significant coupling between the product angular and translational energy distributions, such a coupling has been explicitly included in the simulation of the experimental results. The very good agreement between experiment and QM calculations sustains the accuracy of the NH2 ab initio ground state PES. We also take the opportunity to compare the accurate QM differential cross sections with those obtained by two approximate methods, namely, the widely used quasiclassical trajectory calculations and a rigorous statistical method based on the coupled-channel theory.  相似文献

The possible existence of a complex-forming pathway for the H+O(2) reaction has been investigated by means of both quantum mechanical and statistical techniques. Reaction probabilities, integral cross sections, and differential cross sections have been obtained with a statistical quantum method and the mean potential phase space theory. The statistical predictions are compared to exact results calculated by means of time dependent wave packet methods and a previously reported time independent exact quantum mechanical approach using the double many-body expansion (DMBE IV) potential energy surface (PES) [Pastrana et al., J. Phys. Chem. 94, 8073 (1990)] and the recently developed surface (denoted XXZLG) by Xu et al. [J. Chem. Phys. 122, 244305 (2005)]. The statistical approaches are found to reproduce only some of the exact total reaction probabilities for low total angular momenta obtained with the DMBE IV PES and some of the cross sections calculated at energy values close to the reaction threshold for the XXZLG surface. Serious discrepancies with the exact integral cross sections at higher energy put into question the possible statistical nature of the title reaction. However, at a collision energy of 1.6 eV, statistical rotationally resolved cross sections managed to reproduce the experimental cross sections for the H+O(2)(v=0,j=1)-->OH(v(')=1,j('))+O process reasonably well.  相似文献

We report quantum mechanical calculations of center-of-mass differential cross sections (DCS) for the F+H(2)-->HF+H reaction performed on the multistate [Alexander-Stark-Werner (ASW)] potential energy surfaces (PES) that describe the open-shell character of this reaction. For comparison, we repeat single-state calculations with the Stark-Werner (SW) and Hartke-Stark-Werner (HSW) PESs. The ASW DCSs differ from those predicted for the SW and HSW PES in the backward direction. These differences arise from nonadiabatic coupling between several electronic states. The DCSs are then used in forward simulations of the laboratory-frame angular distributions (ADs) measured by Lee, Neumark, and co-workers [J. Chem. Phys. 82, 3045 (1985)]. The simulations are scaled to match experiment over the range 12 degrees 相似文献

The authors report accurate quantum mechanical studies of the O+OH reaction on the improved Xu-Xie-Zhang-Lin-Guo potential energy surface. The differential cross section was obtained at several energies near the reaction threshold using a time-independent method. The dominant forward and backward peaks in the angular distribution are consistent with a complex-forming mechanism, which is also confirmed by the extensive rotational excitation in the O2 product. However, the asymmetry of these peaks suggests a significant nonstatistical component. The initial state (upsilon i=0, j i=0) specified integral cross section, which was calculated up to 1.15 eV of collision energy using the Chebyshev wave packet method, shows no energy threshold and decreases with the increasing collision energy, consistent with the barrierless nature of the reaction. The resulting rate constant exhibits a negative temperature dependence for T>100 K and decays as the temperature is lowered, in qualitative agreement with available experimental data.

The quantum wave packet dynamics of the title reaction within the coupled state approximation is examined here and initial state-selected reaction probabilities, integral reaction cross sections, and thermal rate constants are reported. The ab initio potential energy surface of the electronic ground state (1(2)A(")) of the system recently reported by Ho et al. [J. Chem. Phys., 119, 3063 (2003)] is employed in this investigation. All partial wave contributions up to the total angular momentum J=55 were necessary to obtain converged integral reaction cross sections up to a collision energy of 1.0 eV. Thermal rate constants are calculated from the reaction cross sections and compared with the available theoretical and experimental results. Typical resonances formed during the course of the reaction and elucidating the insertion type mechanism for the product formation are calculated. Vibrational energy levels supported by the deep well (approximately 5.5 eV) of the 1(2)A(") potential energy surface of NH(2) are also calculated for the total angular momentum J=0. A statistical analysis of the spacing between the adjacent levels of this energy spectrum is performed and the extent of irregularity in the spectral sequence is assessed.  相似文献

An ab initio interpolated potential energy surface (PES) for the Cl+CH(4) reactive system has been constructed using the interpolation method of Collins and co-workers [J. Chem. Phys. 102, 5647 (1995); 108, 8302 (1998); 111, 816 (1999); Theor. Chem. Acc. 108, 313 (2002)]. The ab initio calculations have been performed using quadratic configuration interaction with single and double excitation theory to build the PES. A simple scaling all correlation technique has been used to obtain a PES which yields a barrier height and reaction energy in good agreement with high level ab initio calculations and experimental measurements. Using these interpolated PESs, a detailed quasiclassical trajectory study of integral and differential cross sections, product rovibrational populations, and internal energy distributions has been carried out for the Cl+CH(4) and Cl+CD(4) reactions, and the theoretical results have been compared with the available experimental data. It has been shown that the calculated total reaction cross sections versus collision energy for the Cl+CH(4) and Cl+CD(4) reactions is very sensitive to the barrier height. Besides, due to the zero-point energy (ZPE) leakage of the CH(4) molecule to the reaction coordinate in the quasiclassical trajectory (QCT) calculations, the reaction threshold falls below the barrier height of the PES. The ZPE leakage leads to CH(3) and HCl coproducts with internal energy below its corresponding ZPEs. We have shown that a Gaussian binning (GB) analysis of the trajectories yields excitation functions in somehow better agreement with the experimental determinations. The HCl(v'=0) and DCl(v'=0) rotational distributions are as well very sensitive to the ZPE problem. The GB correction narrows and shifts the rotational distributions to lower values of the rotational quantum numbers. However, the present QCT rotational distributions are still hotter than the experimental distributions. In both reactions the angular distributions shift from backward peaked to sideways peaked as collision energy increases, as seen in the experiments and other theoretical calculations.  相似文献

State-resolved differential cross sections, total and integral cross sections, average vibrational energy transfer, and the relative probabilities are computed for the H(+)+H2 system using the newly obtained ab initio potential energy surfaces at the full CI/cc-pVQZ level of accuracy which allow for both the direct vibrational inelastic and the charge transfer processes. The quantum dynamics is treated within the vibrational close-coupling infinite-order-sudden approximation approach using the two ab initio quasidiabatic potential energy surfaces. The computed collision attributes for both the processes are compared with the available state-to-state scattering experiments at E(c.m.)=20 eV. The results are in overall good agreement with most of the observed scattering features such as rainbow positions, integral cross sections, and relative vibrational energy transfers. A comparison with the earlier theoretical study carried out on the semiempirical surfaces (diatomics in molecules) is also made to illustrate the reliability of the potential energy surfaces used in the present work.  相似文献

We present accurate quantum calculations of the integral cross section and rate constant for the H + O2 --> OH + O combustion reaction on a recently developed ab initio potential energy surface using parallelized time-dependent and Chebyshev wavepacket methods. Partial wave contributions up to J = 70 were computed with full Coriolis coupling, which enabled us to obtain the initial state-specified integral cross sections up to 2.0 eV of the collision energy and thermal rate constants up to 3000 K. The integral cross sections show a large reaction threshold due to the quantum endothermicity of the reaction, and they monotonically increase with the collision energy. As a result, the temperature dependence of the rate constant is of the Arrhenius type. In addition, it was found that reactivity is enhanced by reactant vibrational excitation. The calculated thermal rate constant shows a significant improvement over that obtained on the DMBE IV potential, but it still underestimates the experimental consensus.  相似文献

A global potential energy surface (PES) corresponding to the ground state of AuH2 system has been constructed based on 22 853 ab initio energies calculated by the multireference configuration interaction method with a Davidson correction. The neural network method is used to fit the PES, and the root mean square error is only 1.87 meV. The topographical features of the novel global PES are compared with previous PES which is constructed by Zanchet et al. (Zanchet PES). The global minimum energy reaction paths on the two PESs both have a well and a barrier. Relative to the Au + H2 reactants, the energy of well is 0.316 eV on the new PES, which is 0.421 eV deeper than Zanchet PES. The calculation of Au(2S) + H2(X1Σg+) → AuH(X1Σ+) + H(2S) dynamical reaction is carried out on new PES, by the time‐dependent quantum wave packet method (TDWP) with second order split operator. The reaction probabilities, integral cross‐sections (ICSs) and differential cross‐sections are obtained from the dynamics calculation. The threshold in the reaction is about 1.46 eV, which is 0.07 eV smaller than Zanchet PES due to the different endothermic energies on the two PESs. At low collision energy (<2.3 eV), the total ICS is larger than the result obtained on Zanchet PES, which can be attributed to the difference of the wells and endothermic energies.  相似文献

State-resolved differential cross section, integral cross section, average vibrational energy transfer, and the relative transition probability are computed for the H(+)+NO system using our newly obtained ab initio potential energy surfaces (PES) at the multireference configuration interaction level of accuracy employing the correlation consistent polarized valence triple zeta basis set. The quantum dynamics is treated within the vibrational close-coupling rotational infinite-order sudden approximation using the coupled ground state and first excited state ab initio quasidiabatic PES. The computed collision attributes for the inelastic vibrational excitation are compared with the state-to-state scattering data available at E(c.m.)=9.5 eV and E(c.m.)=29.03 eV and are found to be in overall good agreement with those of the experiments. The results for the vibrational charge transfer processes at these collision energies are also presented.  相似文献

The dynamics of the C((3)P)+OH(X(2)Π) → CO(a(3)Π)+H((2)S) on its second excited potential energy surface, 1(4)A", have been investigated in detail by means of an accurate quantum mechanical (QM) time-dependent wave packet (TDWP) approach. Reaction probabilities for values of the total angular momentum J up to 50 are calculated and integral cross sections for a collision energy range which extends up to 0.1 eV are shown. The comparison with quasi-classical trajectory (QCT) and statistical methods reveals the important role played by the double well structure existing in the potential energy surface. The TDWP differential cross sections exhibit a forward-backward symmetry which could be interpreted as indicative of a complex-forming mechanism governing the dynamics of the process. The QM statistical method employed in this study, however, is not capable to reproduce the main features of the possible insertion nature in the reactive collision. The ability to stop individual trajectories selectively at specific locations inside the potential energy surface makes the QCT version of the statistical approach a better option to understand the overall dynamics of the process.  相似文献

Quasiclassical trajectory calculations have been carried out for the F+HCl reaction in three dimensions on a recent DHSN PES of the ground 1(2)A' electronic state [M. P. Deskevich, M. Y. Hayes, K. Takahashi, R. T. Skodje, and D. J. Nesbitt, J. Chem. Phys. 124, 224303 (2006)]. The effects of the collision energy and the reagent initial rotational excitation on the cross sections and product polarization are studied for the v = 0 and j ≤ 10 states of HCl over a wide collision energy range. It has been found that either the collision energy or the HCl rotational excitation increase remarkably reaction cross sections. The QCT-calculated integral cross sections are in good agreement with previous QM results. A detailed study on product polarization for the title reaction is also performed. The calculated results show that the product rotational angular momentum j' is not only aligned, but also oriented along the direction perpendicular to the scattering plane. The orientation of the HF product rotational angular momentum vector j' depends very sensitively on the collision energy and also affected by the reagent rotation. The theoretical findings and especially the roles of the collision energy and initial rotational momentum on the product polarization are discussed and reasonably explained by the HLH mass combination, the property of the PES, as well as the reactive mechanism.  相似文献

We present accurate quantum calculations of state-to-state cross sections for the N + OH → NO + H reaction performed on the ground (3)A' global adiabatic potential energy surface of Guadagnini et al. [J. Chem. Phys. 102, 774 (1995)]. The OH reagent is initially considered in the rovibrational state ν = 0, j = 0 and wave packet calculations have been performed for selected total angular momentum, J = 0, 10, 20, 30, 40,...,120. Converged integral state-to-state cross sections are obtained up to a collision energy of 0.5 eV, considering a maximum number of eight helicity components, Ω = 0,...,7. Reaction probabilities for J = 0 obtained as a function of collision energy, using the wave packet method, are compared with the recently published time-independent quantum mechanical one. Total reaction cross sections, state-specific rate constants, opacity functions, and product state-resolved integral cross-sections have been obtained by means of the wave packet method for several collision energies and compared with recent quasi-classical trajectory results obtained with the same potential energy surface. The rate constant for OH(ν = 0, j = 0) is in good agreement with the previous theoretical values, but in disagreement with the experimental data, except at 300 K.  相似文献

Converged differential and integral cross sections are reported for the H + O2 --> OH + O reaction on an improved potential energy surface of HO2(X2A') using a dynamically exact quantum wave packet method and Gaussian weighted quasi-classical trajectory method. The complex-forming mechanism is confirmed by strong forward and backward scattering peaks and by highly inverted OH rotational state distributions. Both the quantum and classical results provide strong evidence for nonstatistical behavior in this important reaction.  相似文献

A thorough theoretical investigation of the reactions between S(1D) and various hydrogen isotopomers (H2, D2, and HD) has been carried out using a recent ab initio potential energy surface. State-resolved integral and differential cross sections, thermal rate constants, and their dependence on energy or temperature were obtained from quantum mechanical capture probabilities within a statistical model. For comparison, the J=0 reaction probabilities were also computed using an exact wave packet method. The statistical results are in excellent agreement with available exact differential and integral cross sections. The comparison with experimental results shows that the agreement is reasonably good in general, but some significant differences exist, particularly for the SD/SH branching ratio in the S(1D)+HD reaction.  相似文献
