The polarization parameter in pp elastic scattering at 150 GeV/c, and in the momentum transfer interval 0.4 ? ?t ? 3.0 GeV2, has been measured in an MWPC and scintillation counter experiment at the CERN SPS using a polarized proton target. The polarization is decreasing steadily from zero to ≈ ? 10% in the range 0.4 < ?t < 1.3 GeV2; for higher |t| the data suggests a change of sign. Results are also given for the differential cross section, which exhibits a small dip at ?t = (1.46 ± 0.01) GeV.  相似文献

New experimental results are presented on proton-proton elastic scattering in the range of momentum transfer 0.8GeV2 < ?t < 9 GeV2 at a centre-of-mass energy of √s = 53 GeV. The data are obtained sing the Split-Field- Magnet Detector at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings. The cross section has well-known minimum at ?t = (1.34±0.02) GeV2 but no further minimum or change of slope is observed between 2 and 6.5 GeV2.  相似文献

New experimental results are presented on proton-proton elastic scattering in the range of momentum transfer 4 GeV2 < ?t < 10 GeV2 at the centre-of-mass energy of √s = 53 GeV. The data have been obtained using the Split-Field Magnet detector at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings. We observe another change of slope of the differential cross section near ?t=6.5 GeV2.  相似文献

Proton-antiproton elastic scattering at a centre-of-mass energy of 540 GeV was measured in the four-momentum transfer range 0.05 < ?t < s.19 GeV2. The t-distribution can be fitted by the exponential exp(b) with b=17.2±1.0 GeV?2. This result indicates a rapid decrease of the width of the diffraction peak between ISR and Collider energies.  相似文献

We have measured the Λ° polarization in π?p→ K°Λ° at 5 GeV/c, using a data sample of 3709 events. The polarization is positive for small t, passes through zero near t = ?0.3 (GeV/c)2, and becomes large and negative at larger t, consistent with a value of ?1.0 for t between ?0.7 and ?1.6(GeV/c)2.  相似文献

We show that a pomeron (P) trajectory with αP(t) ≈ 1.07 + 0.22t provides a simple and satisfactory fit to π±p and K±p elastic scattering data (as well as pp and pp considered in an earlier publication) for |t| < 1.2 GeV2, including the rising total cross sections. The destructive term needed to explain the diffraction minimum in pp may be explained as a weak P ? P cut effect provided that the Gribov vertices are given suitable structure, and the prediction is then made that similar minima should be observed in meson-baryon scattering at FNAL somewhere in the region 1.5 < |t| < 2.5 GeV2. The P ? P cut does not seem to be related (at least directly) to the unitarization effects which must eventually make σtot ~ log2s (but not until s > 108GeV2). Thus the “effective” J-plane singularity structure, at currently available energies seems to be much simpler than it can be asymptotically.  相似文献

In a counter and wire spark chamber experiment with a polarized target, backward kaons were detected, and the Σ+'s identified by a missing-mass technique. An average polarization of ?0.08 ± 0.05 was found for ?0.2 < u < 0.1 GeV2.  相似文献

The total and differential cross section for exclusive electro- and photoproduction of vector mesons in the resonance region and above (1.6 < W < 2.9 GeV) was measured at Jefferson Laboratory in a wide kinematic range (0 < Q 2 < 4 GeV2 and 0 < —t < 5 GeV2). The measurement of the total and differential cross section down to 100 pb/GeV2 with the full kinematic coverage, was possible for the first time thanks to the combination of the 100% duty cycle of CEBAF and the large acceptance of the CLAS detector. The main results from the CLAS Collaboration activity in this field will be presented and discussed.  相似文献

We report on an experiment where the different contributions from the transverse and longitudinal polarization of the virtual photon are measured separately for the reaction e?p→e?π+n. The data taken above the resonance region at small ∣t∣ values in the q2 range of ∣q2∣ < 0.5 GeV2 show a clear dominance of the longitudinal part of the cross section and are well described by a generalized Born-term model. Using this model the electromagnetic form factor of the pion is determined. At q2 = ?0.35 GeV2 one gets Fπ = 0.598 ± 0.021.  相似文献

We measured the elastic scattering of αα ats = 126 GeV and of αp at s = 89 GeV. For αα, the differential cross section dσ/dt has a diffractive pattern minima at |t| = 0.10 and 0.38 GeV2. At small |t| = 0.05?0.07 GeV2, this cross section behaves like exp[(100 ± 10) t]. Extrapolating a fit to the data to the optical point, we obtained for the total cross section αtot(αα) = 250 ± 50 mb and an integrated elastic cross section σe1(αα) = 45 ± mb. Another method of estimating σtot(αα), based on measuring the interaction rate, yielded 295 ± 40 mb. For αp, dσ/dt has aminimum at |t| = 0.20 GeV2, and for 0.05 < |t| < 0.18 GeV2 behaves like exp[(41 ± 2) t]. Extrapolating this slope to |t| = 0, we found σtot(αp) = 130 ± 20 and σe1(αp) = 20 ± 4mb. Results on pp elastic scattering at s = 63 GeV agree with previous ISR experiments.  相似文献

The single diffraction dissociation process pp → (pπ+π?)p has been studied at the CERN ISR at √s = 45 GeV and 0.1 < ?t < 0.6 GeV2. The reaction is dominated by nucleon resonance production: pp → pN (1520) and pp → pN(1688) with cross-sections (0.25 ± 0.08) mb and (0.56 ± 0.19) mb respectively.  相似文献

The reaction e + p → e' + n + π+ was studied detecting e' and e' and π+ in coincidence at an invariant hadronic mass of 2.19 GeV. The measurements were performed at electron four-momentum transfers squared of Q2 = 0.06, 0.28, 0.70, and 1.35 GeV2 in the range of t = (γv?π)2 between tmin and ?1.0 GeV2. The cross section d2σ/dtd was found to be roughly independent of Q2 for Q2 > 0.7 GeV2 and ∥t∥ > 0.2 GeV2.  相似文献

The reaction pppX was studied at a centre-of-mass energy s = 540 GeV by measuring the momentum spectrum of the antiproton. Data are presented in the four-momentum transfer range 05 < ?t < 1.2GeV2. The shape of the mass distribution of the system X shows a diffractive component as already observed at lower energies. In a high statistics experiment a large dσ/dt′ slope of (23.7 ± 3.2) GeV?2 is obtained in the forward direction. The natural parity exchange cross-section shows a dip at t′ ≈ 0.2 GeV2 and peak at ≈ 0.6 GeV2. The ?o is separated from the S-wave background and we obtain ?00F ≈ 0.94, at t′ = 0.  相似文献

The reaction π?p → ωn has been studied at 8 and 12 GeV/c incident momenta with the CERN Omega spectrometer using a neutron time of flight trigger. The differential cross sections and the ω-decay density matrix elements are presented as functions of the momentum transfer squared ?t in the range of 0.02 to 0.80 GeV2. The data are used to evaluate the intercept and slope of both the natural and unnatural parity exchange trajectories. Regge exchange amplitude factorisation tests involving the reaction πN → ωN are investigated.  相似文献

We have measured the polarization parameter in π?p→K+Σ? backward scattering at 3.5 GeV/c incident momentum, in the u-range ?0.6<u<0.1 GeV2. The apparatus consisted of a polarized target in a spectrometer magnet, counter hodoscopes for time-of-flight measurements, a large water ?erenkov counter for kaon tagging, and wire spark chambers. After identification of the kaons, the reaction was selected by a missing-mass technique. An isospin analysis has been carried out to separate the contributions of the various isospin exchange amplitudes in the u-channel.  相似文献

The differential cross section dσ/dt for elastic ρ0 photoproduction, γp → ρ0p (ρ0 → π+π?), has been measured in ep interactions at HERA. The squared four-momentum exchanged at the proton vertex, t, has been determined directly by measuring the momentum of the scattered proton using the ZEUS Leading Proton Spectrometer (LPS), a large scale system of silicon micro-strip detectors operating close to the HERA proton beam. The LPS allows the measurement of the momentum of high energy protons scattered at small angles with accuracies of 0.4% for the longitudinal momentum and 5 MeV for the transverse momentum. Photoproduction of ρ0 mesons has been investigated in the interval 0.073 < ¦t¦< 0.40 GeV2, for photon virtualities Q2 < 1 GeV2 and photon-proton centre-of-mass energies W between 50 and 100 GeV. In the measured range, the t distribution exhibits an exponential shape with a slope parameter b = 9.8 ± 0.8 (stat.) ±1.1 (syst.) GeV?2. The use of the LPS eliminates the contamination from events with diffractive dissociation of the proton into low mass states.  相似文献

Differential cross sections of proton Compton scattering have been measured at the Bonn 2.5 GeV synchrotron. 78 data points are presented as angular distributions at photon lab energies of 700, 750, 800, 850, 900, and 950MeV. The c.m. scattering angle ranges from 40°–130°, corresponding to a variation of the four momentum transfer squared betweent=?0.10 tot=?0.96 GeV2 at 700 and 950 MeV, respectively. Two additional differential cross sections have been measured at 1000MeV, 35.6° and 47.4°. The angular distributions show forward peaks whose extrapolations to 0° are consistent with calculated forward cross sections taken from literature. The small angle data (|t| ?0.2 GeV2) together with the calculated cross sections at 0° are also consistent with the assumption of a slope parameterB of 5 GeV?2. For the first time a rerise of the angular distributions towards backward angles has been observed. It becomes less steep with increasing energy. The most interesting feature of the angular distributions is a sharp structure which appears betweent=?0.55 GeV2 at 700MeV andt=?0.72 GeV2 at 950 MeV. Such a rapid varation of the differential cross section witht has never been ovserved in elastic hadron-hadron scattering or photoproduction processes. It indicates the existence of a dynamical mechanism which could be a peculiarity of Compton scattering.  相似文献

Results on the reaction ep→e′nπ+ are presented in the mass range 1.355 ?W ?1.775 GeV at q2=1GeV2 and in the range 1.415 ? W ? 1.595 GeV at q2=0.6 GeV2.
