An indenofluorene‐based copolymer containing blue‐, green‐, and red light‐emitting moieties was synthesized by Suzuki polymerization and examined for application in white organic light‐emitting diodes (WOLEDs). Tetraoctylindenofluorene (IF), 2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole (BT), and 4,7‐bis(2‐thienyl)‐2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole (DBT) derivatives were used as the blue‐, green‐, and red‐light emitting structures, respectively. The number‐average molecular weight of the polymer was determined to be 25,900 g/mol with a polydispersity index of 2.02. The polymer was thermally stable (Td = ~398 °C) and quite soluble in common organic solvents, forming an optical‐quality film by spin casting. The EL characteristics were fine‐tuned from the single copolymer through incomplete fluorescence energy transfer by adjusting the composition of the red/green/blue units in the copolymer. The EL device using the indenofluorene‐based copolymer containing 0.01 mol % BT and 0.02 mol % DBT units ( PIF‐BT01‐DBT02 ) showed a maximum brightness of 4088 cd/m2 at 8 V and a maximum current efficiency of 0.36 cd/A with Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of (0.34, 0.32). The EL emission of PIF‐BT01‐DBT02 was stable with respect to changes in voltage. The color emitted was dependent on the thickness of the active polymer layer; layer (~60 nm) too thin was unsuitable for realizing WOLED via energy transfer. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Carbazole and fluorene‐based random and alternating copolycondensates were synthesized to develop high‐performance blue light‐emitting polymers by improving electron injection ability of poly(N‐aryl‐2,7‐carbazole)s that showed intense blue electroluminescence (EL) with good hole‐injection and ‐transport ability. These copolycondensates absorbed light energy at about λmax = 390 nm in CHCl3 and 400 nm in film state, and fluoresced at about λmax = 417 nm in CHCl3 and 430 nm in the thin film state. Energy gaps between highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of them were about 2.9 eV, and the energy levels of LUMO situated lower than that of corresponding polycarbazole. Polymer light‐emitting diode devices having configuration of indium tin oxide/poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene)‐poly(styrenesulfonate)/polymer/CsF/Al using the copolycondensates, poly(N‐arylcarbazole‐2,7‐diyl), and poly(9,9‐dialkylfluorene‐2,7‐diyl), emitted bluish EL at operating voltages lower than 7 V. The device embedded the random copolycondensate showed notably higher performance with maximum luminance of 31,200 cd m?2 at 11.0 V, and the current efficiencies observed under operating voltages lower than 7 V were higher than those of the other devices. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. To study the influence of a blue‐emitting iridium complex pendant on the optoelectronic properties of its 2,7‐polyfluorene (PF) derivatives with the carbazole and oxadiazole pendants, a class of 2,7‐PF derivatives containing carbazole, oxadiazole, and/without the cyclometalated iridium complex pendants in the C‐9 positions of fluorene unit were synthesized. Their thermal, photophysical, electrochemical, and electroluminescent (EL) properties were investigated. Among these 2,7‐PF derivatives (P 1 –P 4 ), P 2 and P 3 exhibited higher photoluminescence efficiency in dichloromethane and better EL properties in the single‐emissive‐layer polymer light‐emitting devices. The highest brightness of 3888 cd/m2 and the maximum current efficiency of 2.9 cd/A were obtained in the P 2 ‐ and P 3 ‐based devices, respectively. The maximum brightness and efficiency levels were 1.7 and 2.1 times, respectively, higher than the corresponding levels from the parent 2,7‐PF derivative (P 1 )‐based devices. Our work indicated that EL properties of 2,7‐PF derivatives can be improved by introducing the blue‐emitting iridium complex into the alkyl side chain of fluorine unit as pendant. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. For the purpose of making hyperbranched polymer (Hb‐Ps)‐based red, green, blue, and white polymer light‐emitting diodes (PLEDs), three Hb‐Ps Hb‐ terfluorene ( Hb‐TF ), Hb ‐4,7‐bis(9,9′‐dioctylfluoren‐2‐yl)‐2,1,3‐benzothiodiazole ( Hb‐BFBT ), and Hb‐ 4,7‐bis[(9,9′‐dioctylfluoren‐2‐yl)‐thien‐2‐yl]‐2,1,3‐benzothiodiazole ( Hb‐BFTBT ) were synthesized via [2+2+2] polycyclotrimerization of the corresponding diacetylene‐functionalized monomers. All the synthesized polymers showed excellent thermal stability with degradation temperature higher than 355 °C and glass transition temperatures higher than 50 °C. Photoluminance (PL) and electroluminance (EL) spectra of the polymers indicate that Hb‐TF , Hb‐BFBT , and Hb‐BFTBT are blue‐green, green, and red emitting materials. Maximum brightness of the double‐layer devices of Hb‐TF , Hb‐BFBT , and Hb‐BFTBT with the device configuration of indium tin oxide/poly(3,4‐ethylene dioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate)/light‐emitting polymer/CsF/Al are 48, 42, and 29 cd/m2; the maximum luminance efficiency of the devices are 0.01, 0.02, and 0.01 cd/A. By using host–guest doped system, saturated red electrophosphorescent devices with a maximum luminance efficiency of 1.61 cd/A were obtained when Hb‐TF was used as a host material doped with Os(fptz)2(PPh2Me2)2 as a guest material. A maximum luminance efficiency of 3.39 cd/A of a red polymer light‐emitting device was also reached when Hb‐BFTBT was used as the guest in the PFO (Poly(9,9‐dioctylfluorene)) host layer. In addition, a series of efficient white devices were, which show low turn‐on voltage (3.5 V) with highest luminance efficiency of 4.98 cd/A, maximum brightness of 1185 cd/m2, and the Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates close to ideal white emission (0.33, 0.33), were prepared by using BFBT as auxiliary dopant. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of white polymer light emitting displays (PLEDs) based on a polymer blend of polyalkylfluorenes and poly(2‐methoxy‐5,2′‐ethyl‐hexyloxy‐1,4‐phenylene vinylene) (MEH‐PPV) was developed. MEH‐PPV or red light emitting alkyfluorene copolymer (PFR) was blended with blue light emitting alkyfluorene copolymer (PFB), and MEH‐PPV was blended with both green light emitting alkyfluorene copolymer (PFG) and PFB to generate white light emission PLEDs. Low turn on voltage (2.7 V), high brightness (12,149 nits), high efficiency (4.0 cd/A, 4.0 lm/W), and good color purity (Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage (CIEx,y) co‐ordinates (0.32, 0.34)) were obtained for the white PLEDs based on the PFB and MEH‐PPV polymer blend. Exciplex formation in the interface between PFR and PFB induced a new green emission peak for these two components based white PLEDs. As a result, strong white emission (4078 nits) was obtained by mixing the red, green, and blue (RGB) three primary colors. High color purity of blue (CIE, x = 0.14, y = 0.08), green (CIE, x = 0.32, y = 0.64) and red (CIE, x = 0.67, y = 0.33) emissions was achieved for white PLEDs combining with dielectric interference color‐filters. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article presents the synthesis and electroluminescent (EL) properties of a stable blue‐light‐emitting copolyfluorene ( P1 ) consisting of carbazole, oxadiazole and charge‐trapping anthracene groups by Suzuki coupling reaction. The hole‐transporting carbazole and electron‐transporting oxadiazole improve charges injection and transporting properties, whereas the anthracene is the ultimate emitting chromophore. The thermal, photophysical, electrochemical, and EL properties of P1 were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimeter, optical spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and EL devices fabrication and characterization. P1 demonstrated high‐thermal stability with thermal decomposition and glass tranistion temperatures above 400 and 145°C, respectively. In film state, P1 showed blue emission at 451 nm attributed to anthracene chromophore. Photophysical and electrochemical investigations demonstrate that effective energy transfer from fluorene to anthracene segments and charges trapping on anthracene segments leads to efficient and stable blue emission originating from anthracence. Polymer light‐emitting diodes using P1 as the emitting layer (ITO/PEDOT:PSS/ P1 /Ca/Al) exhibited excellent current efficiency (5.1 cd/A) with the CIE coordinate being (0.16, 0.11). The results indicate that copolyfluorene is a promising candidate for the blue‐emitting layer in the fabrication of efficient PLEDs. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Blue light‐emitting polyfluorenes, PPF‐FSOs and PPF‐SOFs were synthesized via introducing spiro[fluorene‐9,9′‐thioxanthene‐S,S‐dioxide] isomers (2,7‐diyl and 2′,7′‐diyl) (FSO/SOF) into the poly[9,9‐bis(4‐(2‐ethylhexyloxy) phenyl)fluorene‐2,7‐diyl] (PPF) backbone, respectively. With the increasing contents of FSO and SOF moieties, the absorption and PL spectra of PPF‐FSOs show slight red shift, while that of PPF‐SOFs exhibit blue shift, respectively. The HOMO and LUMO levels reduce gradually with increasing SOF unit in PPF‐SOFs. The polymers emit blue light peaked around 430–445 nm and show an excellent spectral stability with the variation in current densities. The distinctly narrowing EL spectra were observed with the incorporation of isomers in the polymers. The full width at half maximum reduced by 15 nm for PPF‐SOFs, resulting in a blue shift with the CIE coordinates from (0.16, 0.11) to (0.16, 0.08). With a device configuration of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/EML/CsF/Al, a maximum luminance efficiency (LEmax) of 2.00 cd A?1, a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQEmax) of 3.76% with the CIE coordinates of (0.16, 0.08) for PPF‐SOF15 and a LEmax of 1.68 cd A?1, a EQEmax of 2.38% with CIE (0.16, 0.12) for PPF‐FSO10 were obtained, respectively. The result reveals that spiro[fluorene‐9,9′‐thioxanthene‐S,S‐dioxide] isomers are promising blocks for deep‐blue light‐emitting polymers. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. A novel blue‐emitting polymer based on 3,6‐silafluorene and 2,7‐silafluorene was synthesized via the Suzuki polycondensation. The resulting polymers are readily soluble in common organic solvents, such as toluene, xylene, THF, and chloroform. The thermal, electrochemical, photophysical, and electroluminescence properties of the resulting polymers were investigated. The device fabricated from the copolymer with a configuration of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/PVK/polymer/Ba/Al exhibited an external quantum efficiency of 1.95%, a luminous efficiency of 1.69 cd A?1 and a maximal brightness of 6000 cd m?2. It has been found that the incorporation of the 3,6‐silafluorene unit into the poly(2,7‐silafluorene) main chain can not only improve the color purity of the devices from the resulting copolymer but also enhance its device efficiency. Moreover, no undesired long‐wavelength green emission was observed in the PL spectra of P36‐27SiF90 compared to that of PFO with a dominating emission at 500–600 nm after thermal annealing at 200 °C for 8 h. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of conjugated hyperbranched polymers, hyperbranched copolymers, and linear polymers containing 2‐pyran‐4‐ylidenemalononitrile (acceptor) and triphenylamine/fluorene (donor) units were synthesized and characterized by FTIR, 1H NMR, thermogravimetric analyses, differential scanning calorimetry, gel permeation chromatography, UV–visible, photoluminescence, and cyclic voltammetry measurements. All the polymers show red‐light emission in the range of 566–656 nm both in solution and in solid state. The quantum efficiency of the polymers was in the range of 56–82%. Among the six polymers synthesized, only polymers containing fluorene units show Tg and polymers based on triphenylamine not exhibit Tg. The band gap of these polymers were found to be reasonably low; hyperbranched copolymer containing fluorene unit shows lowest band gap of 2.18 eV due to the stabilization of LUMO energy level by the electron withdrawing ? CN groups. The thermal and solubility behavior of the polymers were found to be good. All the EL spectra of the devices (indium‐tin oxide/poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate)/polymer/2,9‐dimethyl‐4,7‐diphenyl‐1,10‐phenanthroline/tris(8‐hydroxyquinoline)aluminum)/LiF/Al) show red‐light emission, and the device fabricated with P3 and P4 shows maximum luminance and luminous efficiency of 4104 cd m?2 and 0.55 cd Å?1 and 3696 cd m?2 and 0.47 cd Å?1, respectively, indicates that they had the best carrier balance. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. An alternating triarylamine‐functionalized fluorene‐based copolymer synthesized using a Suzuki–Miyaura cross‐coupling procedure is used as blue emitting layer in polymer light‐emitting diodes (PLEDs). Subsequently, the effects of CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) on the optoelectronic properties of the copolymer are investigated. Therefore, CdSe/ZnS QDs are embedded into the copolymer matrix and hybrid PLEDs are fabricated. The devices comprised of CdSe/ZnS QDs reveal enhanced performances, yielding about 3.4 times more luminous efficiency than that of the device without QDs. Further enhancement is achieved by using electron transport layer; the luminous efficiency rose from 0.065 to 1.740 cd A?1 for the hybrid PLEDs, corresponding to a superb 27‐fold intensification of the efficiency. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of copolymers PCt‐co‐Poly(N‐vinylcarbazole) were synthesized through common radical polymerization, in which P‐Ct as a kind of mesogen‐jacketed liquid crystalline polymer was introduced, and the effects of copolymers composing variation on the optical properties of the polymers were studied. The structures and properties of the copolymers were characterized and evaluated by thermogravimetric (TGA), UV, photoluminescence (PL), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and electroluminescence (EL) analyses. All the polymers enjoy high thermal stability. PL peaks in the film show blue‐shift compared with in solutions and fluorescent quantum efficiency decreased with the N‐vinylcarbazole (nvk) content increasing, which supported the efficient energy transfer from nvk units to the oxadiazole units. CV revealed that, with the incorporation of nvk to the copolymer, these copolymers had high‐lying HOMO energy levels ranging from ?5.94 to ?6.09 eV. Single‐layer light‐emitting diodes (LEDs) with the configuration of ITO/PEDOT/PCt‐nvk/Mg:Ag/Ag were fabricated, which emit a blue light around 450 and 490 nm with a maximum luminance of 703 cd/m2. The device performance varies with the content of nvk and device configuration, with device configuration ( b ) and PCt‐nvk8 giving the best value of external quantum efficiency of 0.27%. We show here that by proper design copolymer structure and modification of device configuration can exhibit strong blue EL in higher external quantum efficiency. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Five new thermally robust electroluminescent fluorene‐based conjugated copolymers, including poly[2,7‐(9,9‐dioctylfluorene)‐co‐4,7‐{5,6‐bis(3,7‐dimethyloctyloxymethyl)‐2,1,3‐(benzothiadiazole)}] ( PFO‐P2C10BT ) were synthesized and used to fabricate the efficient polymer light‐emitting diodes (PLEDs). The glass transition temperatures of the polymers were found to be higher than that of poly(9,9‐dialkylfluorenes) and are in the range 113–165 °C. We fabricated PLEDs in indium‐tin oxide/PEDOT/light‐emitting polymer/cathode configurations using either double‐layer LiF/Al or triple‐layer Alq3/LiF/Al cathode structures. The new copolymers were found to have emission colors that vary from greenish blue (491 nm) to green (543 nm) depending on the copolymer composition. The maximum brightness and luminance efficiency of these PLEDs were found to be up to 5347 cd/m2 and 1.51 cd/A at 10 V, respectively. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We have developed efficient white‐light‐emitting polymers through the incorporation of low‐bandgap orange‐light‐emitting benzoselenadiazole ( BSeD ) moieties into the backbone of a blue‐light‐emitting bipolar polyfluorene (PF) copolymer, which contains hole‐transporting triphenylamine and electron‐transporting oxadiazole pendent groups. By carefully controlling the concentrations of the low‐energy‐emitting species in the resulting copolymers, partial energy transfer from the blue‐fluorescent PF backbone to the orange‐fluorescent segments led to a single polymer emitting white light and exhibiting two balanced blue and orange emissions simultaneously. Efficient polymer light‐emitting devices prepared using this copolymer exhibited luminance efficiencies as high as 4.1 cd/A with color coordinates (0.30, 0.36) located in the white‐light region. Moreover, the color coordinates remained almost unchanged over a range of operating potentials. A mechanistic study revealed that energy transfer from the PF backbone to the low‐bandgap segments, rather than charge trapping, was the main operating process involved in the electroluminescence process. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of blue light‐emitting hyperbranched polymers comprising poly(fluorene‐co‐dibenzothiophene‐S,S‐dioxide) as the branch and benzene, triphenylamine, or triphenyltriazine as the core were synthesized by an “A2 + A2' + B3” approach of Suzuki polymerization, respectively. All resulted copolymers exhibited quite comparable thermal properties with the glass transition temperatures in the range of 59–68 °C and relatively high decomposition temperatures over 420 °C. Photoluminescent spectra exhibited slight variation with the molar ratio of the dibenzothiophene‐S,S‐dioxide unit and the size of the core units. Polymer light‐emitting devices demonstrated blue emission with excellent stability of electroluminescence. Copolymers based on smaller core units of benzene and triphenylamine exhibited enhanced device performances regarding to that of triphenyltriazine. With the device configuration of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/polymer/CsF/Al, a maximum luminous efficiency of 4.5 cd A?1 was obtained with Commission Internationale de L'.Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of (0.16, 0.19) for the copolymer PFSO15B. These results indicated that hyperbranched structure can be a promising strategy to attain spectrally stable blue‐light‐emitting polymers with high efficiency. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. A novel series of poly(10‐hexyl‐phenothiazine‐S,S‐dioxide‐3,7‐diyl) and poly(9,9′‐dioctyl‐fluorene‐2,7‐diyl‐alt‐10‐hexyl‐3,7‐phenothiazine‐S,S‐dioxide) (PFPTZ‐SS) compounds were synthesized through Ni(0)‐mediated Yamamoto polymerization and Pd(II)‐catalyzed Suzuki polymerization. The synthesized polymers were characterized by 1H NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis and showed higher glass transition temperatures than that of pristine polyfluorene. In terms of photoluminescence (PL), the PFPTZ‐SS compounds were highly fluorescent with bright blue emissions in the solid state. Light‐emitting devices were fabricated with these polymers in an indium tin oxide/poly(3,4‐ethylene dioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate)/polymer/Ca/Al configuration. The electroluminescence (EL) of the copolymers differed from the PL characteristics: the EL device exhibited a redshifted greenish‐blue emission in contrast to the blue emission observed in the PL. Additionally, this unique phenothiazine‐S,S‐dioxide property, triggered by the introduction of an electron‐deficient SO2 unit into the electron‐rich phenothiazine, gave rise to improvements in the brightness, maximum luminescence intensity, and quantum efficiency of the EL devices fabricated with PFPTZ‐SS. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new water soluble fluorene‐based polyelectrolyte containing on‐chain porphyrin units has been synthesized via Suzuki coupling, for use in optoelectronic devices. The material consist of a random copolymer of poly{1,4‐phenylene‐[9,9‐bis(4‐phenoxy butylsulfonate)]fluorene‐2,7‐diyl} (PBS‐PFP) and a 5,15‐diphenylporphyrin (DPP). The energy transfer process between the PBS‐PFP units and the porphyrin has been investigated through steady state and time‐resolved measurements. The copolymer PBS‐PFP‐DPP displays two different emissions one located in the blue region of the spectra, corresponding to the fluorene part and another in the red due to fluorescent DPP units either formed directly or by exciton transfer. However, relatively inefficient energy transfer from the PFP to the on‐chain porphyrin units was observed. We compare this with a system involving an anionic blue light‐emitting donor PBS‐PFP and a anionic red light‐emitting energy acceptor meso‐tetrakisphenylporphyrinsulfonate (TPPS), self‐assembled by electrostatic attraction induced by Ca2+. Based on previous studies related to chain aggregation of the anionic copolymer PBS‐PFP, two different solvent media were chosen to further explore the possibilities of the self‐assembled system: dioxane–water and aqueous nonionic surfactant n‐dodecylpentaoxyethylene glycol ether (C12E5). In contrast, with the on‐chain PBS‐PFP‐DPP system the strong overlap of the 0‐0 emission peak of the PBS‐PFP and the Soret absorption band of the TPPS results in an efficient Förster transfer. This is strongly dependent on the solvent medium used. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2012  相似文献

A new aromatic host polymer poly{[1,4‐bis(9‐decylcarbazole‐3‐yl)‐2,3,5,6‐tetrafluorobenzene‐3,3′‐diyl]‐alt‐[N‐methylisatin‐2‐one‐3,3‐diyl]} (PICzFB) containing carbazole–tetrafluorinebeneze–carbazole moiety in the π‐conjugated interrupted polymer backbone was synthesized by superacid‐catalyzed metal‐free polyhydroxyalkylation. The resulted copolymer PICzFB showed a comparatively wide band gap up to 3.32 eV and high triplet energy (ET) of 2.73 eV due to confined conjugation by the δ? C bond interrupted polymer backbone. Blue and green light‐emitting devices with PICzFB as host, FIrpic and Ir(mppy)3 as phosphorescent dopants showed the maximum luminous efficiencies of 5.0 and 27.6 cd/A, respectively. The results suggested that the strategy of incorporating bipolar unit into the π‐conjugated interrupted polymer backbone can be a promising approach to obtain host polymer with high triplet level for solution‐processed blue and green phosphorescent polymer light‐emitting diodes. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. New white polymeric light‐emitting diodes from phosphorescent single polymer systems have been developed using a blue‐light‐emitting fluorene monomer copolymerized with a red‐light‐emitting phosphorescent dye, and end‐capped with a green‐light‐emission dye. All of the copolymers have good thermal stability with 5% weight loss temperatures at 380–413 °C and glass transition temperatures at 75–137 °C. We obtained white‐light‐emission devices by adjusting the molar ratio of the comonomers with a structure of indium tin oxide/poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene): poly(styrene sulfonic acid)/polyvinylcarbazole (PVK)/emission layer/Ca/Ag. Novel conjugated polyfluorene copolymers, poly[9,9‐dihexylfluorene‐2,7‐diyl‐co‐(2,5‐bis(4′‐diphenylaminostyryl)‐phenylene‐1,4‐diyl)]s (PGs), have been synthesized by nickel(0)‐mediated polymerization from 2,7‐dibromo‐9,9‐dihexylfluorene and 1,4′‐dibromo‐2,5‐bis(4‐diphenylaminostyryl)benzene with various molar ratios of the monomers. Because of the incorporation of triphenylamine (TPA) moieties, PGs exhibit much higher HOMO levels than the corresponding polyfluorene homopolymers and are able to facilitate hole injection into the polymer layer from the anode electrode in light‐emitting diodes. Conventional polymeric light‐emitting devices with the configuration ITO/PEDOT:PSS/polymer/Ca/Al have been fabricated. A light‐emitting device produced with one of the PG copolymers (PG10) as the emitting layer exhibited a voltage‐independent and stable bluish‐green emission with color coordinates of (0.22, 0.42) at 5 V. The maximum brightness and current efficiency of the PG10 device were 3370 cd/m2 (at 9.6 V) and 0.6 cd/A, respectively. To realize a white polymeric light‐emitting diode, PG10 as the host material was blended with 1.0 wt % of a red‐light‐emitting polymer, poly[9,9‐dioctylfluorene‐2,7‐diyl‐alt‐2,5‐bis(2‐thienyl‐2‐cyanovinyl)‐1‐(2′‐ethylhexyloxy)‐4‐methoxybenzene‐5′,5′‐diyl] (PFR4‐S), and poly[2‐methoxy‐5‐(2′‐ethylhexyloxy)‐1,4‐phenylenevinylene] (MEH‐PPV). The device based on PG10:PFR4‐S showed an almost perfect pure white electroluminescence emission, with Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of (0.33, 0.36) at 8 V; for the PG10:MEH‐PPV device, the CIE coordinates at this voltage were (0.30, 0.40) with a maximum brightness of 1930 cd/m2. Moreover, the white‐light emission from the PG10:PFR4‐S device was stable even at different driving voltages and had CIE coordinates of (0.34, 0.36) at 6 V and (0.31, 0.35) at 10 V. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We have synthesized a novel carrier‐transporting copolymer and a nonconjugated light‐emitting polymer. The carrier‐transporting copolymer has a triphenylamine moiety as a hole‐transporting unit and a triazine moiety as an electron‐transporting unit, both of which are located in the polymer side chain. The nonconjugated light‐emitting polymer has a perylene moiety, which acts as an emitting unit in the polymer side chain. These polymers are very soluble in most organic solvents, such as monochlorobenzene, tetrahydrofuran, chloroform, and benzene. A single‐layered electroluminescent device consisting of ITO/copolymer and emitting‐material 4‐(dicyanomethylene)‐2‐methyl‐6‐(4‐dimethylaminostyryl)‐4H‐pyran (DCM) or light‐emitting polymer)/Al mixtures exhibits maximum external quantum efficiency when the concentration of the emitting material is 30 wt %. The device emits red or blue light according to the emitting material. When CsF is used as the electron‐injecting material, the drive voltage decreases drastically to 7 V, and the highest quantum efficiency is 0.5%. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
