It has been shown that explosive electron emission is delayed by 10?10 s with respect to field emission in a pulsed subnanosecond discharge in atmospheric air. A pulse of outgoing electrons is observed for approximately the same time in air. Correspondingly, field emission is a source of these electrons. Owing to the sharp nonlinearity of the emission current density as a function of the electric field j(E), the real duration of the current pulse of the outgoing electrons is equal to about 10?11 s.  相似文献

Evolution of rapid (~10 ns) Ohmic overheating of a microprotrusion on a surface in contact with a plasma by emission current is studied taking into account the energy carried by plasma ions and electrons, as well as Ohmic heating, emissive source of energy release (Nottingham effect), and heat removal due to heat conduction. Plasma parameters were considered in the range of n = 1014?1020 cm?3 and T e = 0.1 eV?10 keV. The threshold value of energy transferred to the surface from the plasma is found to be 200 MW/cm2; above this value, heating becomes explosive (namely, an increase in the temperature growth rate (δ2 Tt 2 > 0) and in passing current (δJt > 0) is observed in the final stage at T ~ 104 K and j ~ 108 A/cm2). In spite of the fact that Ohmic heating does not play any significant role for plasmas with a density lower than 10 18 cm?3 because the current is limited by the space charge of electrons, rapid overheating of top of microprotrusion is observed much sooner (over a time period of ~1 ns) when the threshold is exceeded. In this case, intense ionization of vapor of the wall material leads to an increase in the plasma density at the surface, and the heating becomes of the Ohmic explosion type. Such conditions for the formation of a micr?xplosion on the surface and of an ecton accompanying it can be created during the interaction of a plasma with the cathode, anode, or an insulated wall and may lead to the formation of cathode and anode spots, as well as unipolar arcs.  相似文献

Probe measurements reveal that the plasma produced by a hot-cathode arc contains two groups of electrons, with temperatures 4 and 10 eV, with a density of 1010–1011 cm–3. These electrons are distributed uniformly over a volume of 0.2 m3. The discharge voltage is found as a function of the gas pressure and the heater current. Low-temperature regimes of the deposition of TiN coatings on metals and insulators after a plasma processing of the articles are described. A measuring system is described for the phase determination of a microscopic radiation field. The essential element of this system is a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser which serves as an ideal laser amplifier with a high amplification of approximately 1010, having insignificant quantum noise. We investigate the degradation of the Q factor of a fundamental whispering-gallery mode of a microsphere resonator when a fiber tip is placed in the evanescent field of the mode. With a tip diameter of 80 nm it is possible to maintain a Q factor exceeding 10(8), even when the tip is as close as 10 nm to the sphere surface. This result demonstrates the possibility of using such a tip as a "nanotool" to actively place a single nanoparticle in a single high- Q mode with great precision to achieve well-controlled coupling.  相似文献

The main stages of the formation of a droplet cloud during the disintegration of water masses (with an initial volume of 0.05–1 L) during their free fall from a great height (up to 15 m) have been determined. High-speed (up to 6 × 105 frames per second) video cameras were used to perform 3D video recording of the transformation and destruction of water mass with the formation of a droplet cloud. It is found that the transverse sizes of the newly formed droplet cloud rapidly increase when the mass passes the first few (up to 10) meters from the onset of falling. It is shown that the maximum cross-sectional areas of the water mass change only slightly with an increase in the discharge height at heights above 10 m. A model of limited growth of the transverse sizes of droplet cloud is developed for the first time based on the results of large-scale experiments.  相似文献

Low-noise operation of a 9-GHz hybridly mode-locked laser diode is demonstrated. The integrated timing jitter was 47 fs (10 Hz to 10 MHz) and 86 fs (10 Hz to 4.5 GHz), with a pulse width of 6.7 ps. The noise performance as a function of filter bandwidth and oscillator noise is also addressed.  相似文献

We report significant enhancement (+24 dB) of the optical beat note between a 657 nm cw laser and the second-harmonic generation of the tailored continuum at 1314 nm generated with a femtosecond Cr:forsterite laser and a nonlinear fiber Bragg grating. The same continuum is used to stabilize the carrier-envelope offset frequency of the Cr:forsterite femtosecond laser and permits improved optical stabilization of the frequency comb from 1.0 to 2.2 microm. Using a common optical reference at 657 nm, a relative fractional frequency instability of 2.0 x 10(-15) is achieved between the repetition rates of Cr:forsterite and Ti:sapphire laser systems in 10 s averaging time. The fractional frequency offset between the optically stabilized frequency combs of the Cr:forsterite and Ti:sapphire lasers is +/-(0.024 +/- 6.1) x 10(-17).  相似文献

A novel technique to interrogate a long-period grating (LPG) using a mechanically scannable arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) is proposed. This technique is implemented based on space-to-wavelength mapping by mechanically scanning the input light beam along the input coupler facet of an AWG. By employing a sampled chirped fiber Bragg grating with multiple peaks as a reference, the central wavelength of the LPG is measured. An interrogation system with a resolution of 10 pm at a speed of 10 Hz is demonstrated. Furthermore, the technique proposed can potentially offer subpicometer resolution at a speed of 500 Hz.  相似文献

A dense compact plasmoid generated at the pinch collapse stage is revealed in a plasma focus discharge by laser optical methods. The initial size of the plasmoid is ~1 mm, its electron density is more than 2 × 1019 cm–3, and the plasmoid propagates along the axis from the anode at an average velocity of more than 107 cm/s. A shock wave is generated in the residual argon plasma during the motion of the bunch, its density decreases to 1018 cm–3 at a distance of 3 cm from its place of generation, and the plasmoid expands by 3–5 times and almost merges together with the leading edge of the shock wave.  相似文献

The phase space density of dense, cylindrical clouds of atoms in a 2D magneto-optic trap is investigated. For a large number of trapped atoms (>10(8)), the density of a spherical cloud is limited by photon reabsorption. However, as the atom cloud is deformed to reduce the radial optical density, the temperature of the atoms decreases due to the suppression of multiple scattering leading to an increase in the phase space density. A density of 2 x 10(-4) has been achieved in a magneto-optic trap containing 2 x 10(8) atoms.  相似文献

We simulate the response of a modified Anderson-Braun rem counter in the energy range from thermal energy to about 10 GeV using the FLUKA code.Also,we simulate the lethargy spectrum of CSNS outside the beam dump.Traditional BFs tube is replaced by the 3He tube,a layer of 0.6 cm lead is added outside the boron doped plastic attenuator and a sphere configuration is adopted.The simulation result shows that its response is exactly fit to H*(10) in the neutron energies between 10 keV and approximately 1 GeV,although the monitor slightly underestimates H*(10) in the energy range from thermal energy to about 10 keV.According to the characteristics of the CSNS,this modified counter increases the neutron energy response by 30% compared with the traditional monitors,and it can be applied in other kinds of stray field rich of high energy neutrons.  相似文献

A method of measuring optical phase differences caused by the presence of optical path differences between two coherent light beams is reported. A polarization technique is used and the phase differences are detected as rotation angles of the plane of polarization. The sensitivity of the method is better than 10-4λ and the stability is 3 X 10-4λ per minute. These limitations result from thermal fluctuations of the order of 10-3°C. A higher sensitivity of about 10-5λ, or better, is expected if the effect due to thermal fluctuations can be reduced.  相似文献

The structural, elastic, phonon and electronic properties of a MnPd alloy have been investigated using the first-principles calculation. The calculated lattice constants and electronic structure agree well with the experimental results. The microscopic mechanism of the diffusionless martensitic transition from the paramagnetic B2 (PM-B2) phase to the antiferromagnetic L10 (AFM-L10) phase through the intermediate paramagnetic L10 (PM-L10 ) phase has been explored theoretically. The obtained negative shear modulus C′= (C11-C12)/2 of the PM-B2 phase is closely related to the instability of the cubic B2 phase with respect to the tetragonal distortions. The calculated phonon dispersions for the PM-L10 and AFM-L10 phases indicate that they are dynamically stable. However, the AFM-L10 phase is energetically most favorable according to the calculated total energy order, so the PM-L10 →AFM-L10 transition is caused by the magnetism rather than the electron-phonon interaction. Additionally, the AFM-L10 state is stabilized through the formation of a pseudo gap located at the Fermi level. The calculated results show that the CuAu-I type structure in the collinear antiferromagnetic state is dynamically and mechanically stable, thus is the low temperature phase.  相似文献

A formal "small tension" expansion of D=11 supergravity near a spacelike singularity is shown to be equivalent, at least up to 30th order in height, to a null geodesic motion in the infinite-dimensional coset space E(10)/K(E10), where K(E10) is the maximal compact subgroup of the hyperbolic Kac-Moody group E10(R). For the proof we make use of a novel decomposition of E10 into irreducible representations of its SL(10,R) subgroup. We explicitly show how to identify the first four rungs of the E10 coset fields with the values of geometric quantities constructed from D=11 supergravity fields and their spatial gradients taken at some comoving spatial point.  相似文献

The potential possibilities of a plasma heated by laser radiation as a negative-ion source are analyzed theoretically. The parameters of fast particles generated upon the interaction of 1019 W/cm2 laser pulses with solid targets are studied. The spatial and energy parameters of fast ions are investigated. It is found that approximately 1–3% of the laser energy is transformed to the energy of mega-and submegaelectronvolt ions at laser pulse intensities ≥1018 W/cm2. It is shown experimentally that an ion beam is directed perpendicular to the target surface. The analytic and numerical simulations agree with experimental results and predict the propagation of fast electrons in the mirror direction with respect to the incident laser beam and of ions perpendicular to the target. The theoretical calculations are compared with the experimental output and spectra of fast electrons and ions.  相似文献

Line tension of hexaethylene glycol on a silicon wafer is measured with positive values up to +2.5x10(-11) N below a contact angle of 6 degrees and negative values down to -2x10(-10) N above 6 degrees, as expected for a first-order wetting system. From the measured interface potentials, a semiquantitative model function for the overall interface potential is derived as a superposition of a constant nonretarded van der Waals interaction with a Hamaker constant of -2.6x10(-19) J and an exponentially decaying term, allowing the prediction of a finite positive line tension at the wetting transition.  相似文献

It is shown experimentally that the mean energy of accelerated electrons generated by irradiating a dense target with a pair of 13-ns-delay femtosecond laser pulses forming radiation with an energy contrast of 100–500 and an intensity of about 1018 W/cm2 increases significantly in comparison with the case of high contrast ~106.  相似文献
