Importance of quantum entanglement has been demonstrated in various applications. Usually, separability of a bipartite state is defined by its algebraic structure, i.e. a convex combination of product states. But it seems to be hard to check separability (equivalently, entanglement) of a state from its algebraic structure. In this note, we give some characterizations of separability of bipartite states based on POVM measurements. For bipartite pure states, we prove the separability, Bell locality, unsteerability and classical correlation are the same. As a consequence, every entangled pure bipartite state is always Bell nonlocal, steerable and quantum correlated.

We propose a method of constructing the separability criteria for multipartite quantum states on the basis of entanglement witnesses. The entanglement witnesses are obtained by finding the maximal expectation values of Hermitian operators and then optimizing over all possible Hermitian operators. We derive a set of tripartite separability criteria for the four-qubit Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) diagonal states. The derived criterion set contains four criteria that are necessary and sufficient for the tripartite separability of the highly symmetric four-qubit GHZ diagonal states; the criteria completely account for the numerically obtained boundaries of the tripartite separable state set. One of the criteria is just the tripartite separability criterion of the four-qubit generalized Werner states.  相似文献

This paper addresses arguments that “separability” is an assumption of Bell’s theorem, and that abandoning this assumption in our interpretation of quantum mechanics (a position sometimes referred to as “holism”) will allow us to restore a satisfying locality principle. Separability here means that all events associated to the union of some set of disjoint regions are combinations of events associated to each region taken separately. In this article, it is shown that: (a) localised events can be consistently defined without implying separability; (b) the definition of Bell’s locality condition does not rely on separability in any way; (c) the proof of Bell’s theorem does not use separability as an assumption. If, inspired by considerations of non-separability, the assumptions of Bell’s theorem are weakened, what remains no longer embodies the locality principle. Teller’s argument for “relational holism” and Howard’s arguments concerning separability are criticised in the light of these results. Howard’s claim that Einstein grounded his arguments on the incompleteness of QM with a separability assumption is also challenged. Instead, Einstein is better interpreted as referring merely to the existence of localised events. Finally, it is argued that Bell rejected the idea that separability is an assumption of his theorem.  相似文献

A quantum entangled state is easily disturbed by noise and degenerates into a separable state. Compared to the entanglement with bipartite quantum systems, less progress has been made for the entanglement with multipartite quantum systems. For tripartite separability of a four-qubit system, we propose two entanglement witnesses, each of which corresponds to a necessary condition of tripartite separability. For the four-qubit GHZ state mixed with a W state and white noise, we prove that the necessary conditions of tripartite separability are also sufficient at W states side.  相似文献

Nowadays, there are plenty of separability criteria which are used to detect entanglement. Many of them are limited to apply for some cases. In this paper, we propose a separability criterion for arbitrary multipartite pure state which is based on the rank of reduced density matrix. It is proved that the rank of reduced density matrices of a multipartite state is closely related to entanglement. In fact it can be used to characterize entanglement. Our separability criterion is a necessary and sufficient condition for detecting entanglement. Furthermore, it is able to help us find the completely separable form of a multipartite pure state according to some explicit examples. Finally it demonstrates that our method are more suitable for some specific case. Our separability criterion are simple to understand and it is operational.  相似文献

Surface and interface excess quantities are coupled or ill-defined for ultra-thin films. Yet, surface and interface energy are consistently used to describe monolayer-range heteroepitaxial structures. Here, we examine the convergence of interfacial thermodynamic quantities to the well-defined thermodynamic (separability) limit in the systems Ag/Au(1 1 1) and Al/Au(1 1 1). Convergence to separability occurs together with the interface-induced electronic structure and interlayer spacing perturbations. In this paper, we propose a new approach to tackle the separability problem for bipartite qudit mixed-states. This is based on the Majorana representation which allows to represent a N-spinors(qudit) as a symmetric state of N spin-1/2. In this paper, an intuitive approach is employed to generalize the full separability criterion of tripartite quantum states of qubits to the higher-dimensional systems [Phys. Rev. A 72, 022333 (2005)]. A distinct characteristic of the present generalization is that less restrictive conditions are needed to characterize the properties of full separability. Furthermore, the formulation for pure states can be conveniently extended to the case of mixed states by utilizing the Kronecker product approximate technique. The usual notion of separability has to be reconsidered when applied to states describing identical particles. A definition of separability not related to any a priori Hilbert space tensor product structure is needed: this can be given in terms of commuting subalgebras of observables.
