The UV-VIS spectroscopic studies of phycoerythrobilin dimethyl ester,phycocyanobilin dimethyl ester and their derivatives indicate that shortening of theconjugative systems induces hypsochromic shifts in wavelength and increases in molarextinction coefficients in visible part;both zinc ion coordination and acetic acidtreatment induce bathochromic effects for the phycobilins and their derivatives.

STUDY ON THE PHYSICAL CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF FFA—1 ION EXCHANGE FIBER

The physical and chemical properties of FFA-1 ion exchange fiber have been characterized with IR spectrum,thermal analysis and SEM means.The pH titration curve,swelling rate,mechanical properties,resistance drop of filter layer as well as the dynamic adsorption for SO2 was determined.These experiments provided the essential parameters for the practical application of FFA-1 material in adsorption of toxic gases.     

THE SYNTHESIS OF URUSHIOL TITANIUM CHELATE POLYMERS AND THEIR STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS

THE STUDY OF PHYCOBILIPROTEINS IN Porphyra yezoensis——THE PHYSICAL AND IMMUNO-CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF R-PHYCOERYTHRIN~*

There are two kinds of phycoerythrin of different physical properties in Porphyra yezoensis. Their molecular weights are different. They are both composed of a-subunit and β-subunit. Their polymeric forms are (αβ)n. The absorption bands and fluorescence emission bands of the smaller molecules show hypsochromic shifts of several rims relative to that of the polymeric molecules. The isoelectric point of the former is lower than that of the latter. It is worthy of note that the smaller molecules display binding activities with guinea pig antisera. Through using radioimmunoassay, when the depression of the biuding activity of ~(125)I-insulin reaches 50%, the required quantity of the smaller molecules of R-phycoerythrin would be ca. 0.1mg, corresponding to ca. 8μ units of insulin used in a parallel experiment (26 units corresponding to 1 mg of insulin).     

THE SYNTHESIS OF NEW POLED CROSSLINKED POLYMETHACRYLATES AND THEIR SECOND ORDER NONLINEAR OPTICAL PROPERTIES

Films were prepared from mixtures of copolymers of 4-nitro-4'- [N- methylacryloyloxyethyl,N'-ethyl] amino azobenzene with glycidyl methacrylate (chromophore content: 6 mol%) andcopolymers containing anhydride units, which was obtained by the reaction of 4-nitro-4'-[N-hydroxyethyl, N'-ethyl] amino azobenzene with polymethacryloyl chloride (chromophorecontent: 25 mol %). During thermal poling process the anhydride reacts with the epoxygroup and the resulting crosslinked network structure will stabilize the second harmonicgeneration in the poled film. The second harmonic generation of the poled film shows amaximum with the variation of composition, this is presumed to be due to the effects of theincreasing of concentration, orientation order as well as orientation stability of chromophoregroups during crosslinking.

6AZO-CONTAINING SELF-ASSEMBLY ULTRA-THIN FILMS AND THEIR PHOTOVOLTAIC PROPERTIES

A kind of azo-containing resin (Azo-R) was synthesized by a simple way through the coupling reaction of 2-nitro-N-methyldiphenylamine-4-diazoresin (NDR) with phenol, and a new covalentely attached multilayer film from Azo-R as H-donor and photosensitive diazoresin, diphenylamine-4-diazoresin (DR) as H-acceptor via H-bonding attraction by selfassembly technique has been fabricated. Following the decomposition of diazonium group of DR under exposure to UV light, the H-bonds between the layers of the film convert to covalent bonds and the film becomes very stable toward polar solvents or electrolyte aqueous solutions. Thus the UV-irradiated azo-containing films can be used to measure photocurrent in a conventional three-electrode photoelectrochemical cell using KCl as supporting electrolyte. It was confirmed that the azo-containing multilayer film is responsible for the photocurrent generation.     

STRUCTURAL FEATURES AND EVOLUTION OF THE NADANHADA TERRANE

The study of terranes has already become an important subject in research of the Circum-Pacific continental margin. This paper discusses proper understanding of the terrane conception and identifies existence of the Nadanhada terrane according to its difference from the neighbouring massifs in terms of evolutionary history, tectonic background, and deformation features, and to the fault-contact relation between them; analyzes the paleogeographic position variation of the Nadanhada terrane during the Triassic to late Jurassic and the period when the terrane was attached to the ancient continental marging; finally discusses the consequential effects of theterrane accretion from the observed tectonic events after terrane collage.     

ON THE SOUTH HUANGHAI SEA PERTAINING TO PALEOZOIC TO EARLY-MIDDLE TRIASSIC PALEOGEOGRAPHY, STRUCTURAL STYLE AND POTENTIAL HYDROCARBON TYPES

Based on geological survey of the neighboring exposed areas (Korea and Jiangsu of China) and in-formation of several offshore boreholes, as well as investigation of islands of the South Huanghai (Yel-low) Sea, a set of paleogeographic schemes have been constructed. In terms of them the Paleozoic to Early-Middle Triassic configuration of the South Huanghai Seabasin is thus preliminarily analysed and approximate conditions of their lithologic character and lithofaciesare thus supposed. The constrained relationship between four sedimentary tectonic development stages of the South Huang-hai Sea are illustrated. However, the author suggests that the Paleozoic to Early-Middle Triassic(Indo-China stage) tectonic level mostly belongs to the pregraben cycle of superposed basin of the SouthHuanghai Sea, and emphasizes late reworkings by other cycle. The pregraben tectonic level has a specialstructural style which in turn determines a variety of local structural patterns and trap types. In ad-dition to the need of     

NONLINEAR OPTICAL PROPERTIES OF X-TYPE CHROMOPHORES AND THEIR DOPED FILMS

Two X-type chromophores, 2-[4-(4,5-di(4-nitrophenyl) imidazolyl) phenyl]-4,5-di(4-methoxyphenyl)-imidazole (DNPIPDMOPI), 2-[4-(4,5-di(4-nitrophenyl)-imidazolyl) phenyl]-4,5-di(4-aminophenyl)-imidazole (DNPIPDAPI), were synthesized and characterized. The results show that they possess good nonlinearity, considerable blue-shifted absorption (385 nm and 379 nm in THF) and high decomposition temperature (377℃ and 405℃). These mean that the X-type chromophores possess a rather good nonlinearity-transparency-thermal stability trade-off. The multi-step corona-poling technique at elevated temperature and in-situ SHG measurements were used to obtain and evaluate the poled films of these chromophores doped in PMMA. The largest SHG signals appeared at 110-120℃, which are 12.5 pm/V and 16.7 pm/V respectively. The dependence of poling induced orientation stability on temperature was measured by depoling experiments and the results indicate that the poling-induced orientation of the films is stable at about 100℃. Theoretic analyses imply that better orientation stability arises from the X-type structure of chromophore. The X-type chromophore has two crossed intramolecular CT, both βxxx and βxyy can contribute to the second-order susceptibility, and the ratio of the tensorial components (γ = βxyy/βxxx) is about 1/3, so the orientation decay of the films induced by rising temperature will provide a certain compensation for the contribution of βxyy of chromophores.     

THREE METHODS FOR DETERMINING STRUCTURAL SHAPES OF FOLDS IN THE METAMORPHIC ROCK REGION AND THEIR THEORETICAL FOUNDATION

Based on the results of research work and practices of the author, three kinds of methods and techniques for determining the fold shapes in the metamorphic rock region are advanced: (ⅰ) the microschist method, (ⅱ) the hook fold method and (ⅲ) the structural lenticular method. The theoretical foundation of these methods is structural transposition. The methods and techniques are successful both in practical and theoretical senses. We have gained fairly good effects by utilizing these methods.     

MICROSTRUCTURE OF MARINE SOILS IN CHINA AND THEIR ENGINEERING PROPERTIES

The microstructure of marine soils from the East China Sea, the South China Sea, theHuanghai Sea and the Bohai Sea has been studied with scanning electron microscope, so asto establish the relationship between the engineering properties and the microstructure. Ithas been found that the microstructure of marine soils is complex and variable, and it isclosely related to the deposition environment and its engineering properties. Based on theirfeatures, a system of classification of the microstructure of these soils has been proposed.Different types of the microstructure have different engineering properties. Hence, it ispossible to estimate the engineering properties of marine soils according to the proposed clas-sification.     

RARE EARTH CONTAINING POLYMER TERNARY COMPLEXES AND THEIR FLUORESCENT PROPERTIES

Rare earth containing fluorescence active polymer ternary complexes were synthesized and their absorption and emission properties were investigated.     

EFFECT OF CHEMICAL STRUCTURE OF COMONOMERS ON THE PROPERTIES OF COPOLYESTERS

The effect of different kinds of comonomers with or without flexible chain on proper-ties of copolyesters, such as transition temperature, crystallization velocity, crystallinityand size of crystallites, is studied. The experimental results indicate the obvious differ-ence in properties between comonomers with iso- and ortho-structure of phenyl ring andcomonomers with flexible chain. The influence of chemical structure of comonomers onproperties of copolyesters is discussed.
