Recovery of the magnetic dipolar interaction between nuclei bearing the same gyromagnetic ratio in rotating solids can be promoted by synchronous rf irradiation. Determination of the dipolar interaction strength can serve as a tool for structural elucidation in polycrystalline powders. Spinning frequency dependent narrow-band (nb) RFDR and SEDRA experiments are utilized as simple techniques for the determination of dipolar interactions between the nuclei in coupled homonuclear spin pairs. The magnetization exchange and coherence dephasing due to a fixed number of rotor-synchronously applied pi-pulses is monitored at spinning frequencies in the vicinity of the rotational resonance (R(2)) conditions. The powder nbRFDR and nbSEDRA decay curves of spin magnetizations and coherences, respectively, as a function of the spinning frequency can be measured and analyzed using simple rate equations providing a quantitative measure of the dipolar coupling. The effects of the phenomenological relaxation parameters in these rate equations are discussed and an improved methodology is suggested for analyzing nbRFDR data for small dipolar couplings. The distance between the labeled nuclei in the 1,3-(13)C(2)-hydroxybutyric acid molecule is rederived using existing nbRFDR results and the new simulation procedure. A nbSEDRA experiment has been performed successfully on a powder sample of singly labeled 1-(13)C-L-leucine measuring the dipolar interaction between the labeled carboxyl carbon and the natural abundant beta-carbon. Both narrowband techniques are employed for the determination of the nuclear distances between the side-chain carbons of leucine and its carbonyl carbon in a tripeptide Leu-Gly-Phe that is singly (13)C-labeled at the leucine carbonyl carbon position.  相似文献

Aseries of uni- and multidimensional variants of the dipolar exchange-assisted recoupling (DEAR) NMR experiment is described and applied to determinations of (13)C-(14)N dipolar local field spectra in amino acids and dipeptides. The DEAR protocol recouples nearby nuclei by relying on differences in their relative rates of longitudinal relaxation, and has the potential to give quantitative geometric results without requiring radiofrequency pulsing on both members of a coupled spin pair. One- and two-dimensional variants of this recoupling strategy on generic I-S pairs are discussed, and measurements of (13)C-(14)N distances and 2D local field experiments sensitive to the relative orientation of CN vectors with respect to the (13)C shielding tensor are presented. Since these measurements did not involve pulsing on the broad nitrogen resonance, their results were independent of the quadrupolar parameters of this nucleus. High-resolution 3D NMR versions of the 2D experiments were also implemented in order to separate their resulting local field patterns according to the isotropic shifts of inequivalent (13)C sites. These high-resolution 3D acquisitions involved collecting a series of 2D DEAR NMR data sets on rotating samples as a function of spinning angle, and then subjecting the resulting data to a processing akin to that involved in variable-angle correlation NMR. Once successfully tested on l-alanine this experiment was applied to the analysis of a series of dipeptides, allowing us to extract separate local field (13)C-(14)N spectra from this type of multisite systems.  相似文献

A full investigation of the possible homonuclear double-quantum recoupling sequences, based on the RN family of sequences with N < or = 20, is given. Several new RN sequences, R16(6)(5), R18(8)(5), and R18(10)(5), were applied at high magic-angle spinning rates and compared with theory. The R18(10)(5) technique can be used to recouple dipolar couplings at spinning rates up to 39 kHz, and the application of the sequence in an INADEQUATE experiment is shown for a spinning rate of 30 kHz.  相似文献

I describe a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technique, called stochastic dipolar recoupling (SDR), that permits continuous experimental control of the character of spin dynamics between coherent and incoherent limits in a system of magnetic dipole-coupled nuclei. In the fully incoherent limit of SDR, spin polarization transfers occur at distance-dependent rates without the quantum mechanical interferences among pairwise dipole-dipole couplings that often limit the feasibility or precision of structural studies of solids by NMR. In addition to facilitating structural studies, SDR represents a possible route to experimental studies of effects of decoherence on the dynamics of quantum many-body systems.  相似文献

A theoretical treatment of the DREAM adiabatic homonuclear recoupling experiment is given using Floquet theory. An effective Hamiltonian is derived analytically and the time evolution of the density operator in the adiabatic limit is described. Shape cycles are proposed and characterized experimentally. Application to spin-pair filtering and as a mixing period in a 2D correlation experiment is explored and the experimental results are compared to theoretical predictions and exact numerical simulations.  相似文献

Rotational resonance and radiofrequency-driven dipolar recoupling (RFDR) experiments have been used to recover the weak proton dipolar interaction present in peptides bound to swollen resins spun at the magic angle. The intensity of the correlation peaks obtained using these sequences is shown to be significantly stronger than the one obtained using the classical NOESY experiment. In addition, it is found that during the relatively long mixing times required to transfer magnetization in such soft materials, the RFDR sequence also achieves magnetization transfer via the scalar J-coupling.  相似文献

An experimental method for the heteronuclear dipolar recoupling of half-integer quadrupole nuclei is proposed. The idea is to manipulate the central transition based on the recoupling technique of spin-polarization-inversion rotary resonance. This method allows the extraction of structural parameters under fast magic-angle spinning. Its validity has been examined by the average Hamiltonian theory and numerical simulations. The initial rotational-echo dephasing arising from the dipolar evolution can be approximated by a parabolic function, from which the heteronuclear van Vleck second moment can be estimated. A factor, estimated from two-spin simulations, is required to account for the effects of the quadrupolar coupling and is rather independent of the geometry and the orders of the spin systems. Our method can facilitate the structural characterization of materials containing half-integer quadrupole nuclei under high-resolution condition. Experimental verification has been carried out on two aluminophosphate systems, namely, AlPO4-5 and AlPO4-11.  相似文献

A pulse sequence is described for the recoupling of heteronuclear dipolar interactions under MAS. The method is similar to the PISEMA experiment, but employs a well-defined amplitude modulation of one of the two radio-frequency fields. The technique is used for measurements of 1H-13C dipolar couplings in unoriented solid and liquid-crystalline samples.  相似文献

A novel MAS NMR approach is presented for the determination of heteronuclear dipolar couplings in unoriented materials. The technique is based on the proton-detected local field (PDLF) protocol, and achieves dipolar recoupling by R-type radio-frequency irradiation. The experiment, which is called R-PDLF spectroscopy, is demonstrated on solid and liquid-crystalline systems. For mobile systems, it is shown that the R-PDLF scheme provides better dipolar resolution as compared to techniques combining conventional separated local field (SLF) spectroscopy with R-type recoupling.  相似文献

A numerical comparison of the dipolar recoupling performance of several previously published homonuclear recoupling schemes under magic angle-spinning conditions is presented. Emphasis is put on the recoupled polarization transfer in a two-spin system where the efficiency is studied as a function of resonance offsets in the presence and absence of chemical-shielding anisotropies. In addition, the effect of the rf field strength is investigated. Powder pattern line shapes are shown in the on-resonance case that reveal the distribution of dipolar couplings for each recoupling scheme. These results are compared to data computed with a purposely misset rf field strength to estimate the pulse scheme sensitivity to rf-inhomogeneity and experimental missettings.  相似文献

A new solid-state NMR pulse sequence for recoupling 13C–1H dipolar interactions under magic-angle spinning is proposed, which works under a spinning speed of a few to several tens kilohertz. The sequence is composed of two different frequency switched Lee–Goldburg sequences, and the modulation of the spin part of the 13C–1H dipolar interaction is introduced by a virtual pulse sequence consisting of unitary operators connecting the rotating frame and the tilted rotating frame. When the cycle time of the spinning is equal to or twice the cycle time of the sequence, the 13C–1H dipolar interactions can be recoupled. The sequence is insensitive to experimental imperfections such as rf inhomogeneity or frequency offset, and the resulting lineshape can be represented by a simple analytical equation based on the zeroth-order average Hamiltonian. Experimental results for [2-13C] -valine·HCl are reported.  相似文献

Using average Hamiltonian (AH) theory, we analyze recently introduced homonuclear dipolar recoupling pulse sequences for exciting central-transition double-quantum coherences (2QC) between half-integer spin quadrupolar nuclei undergoing magic-angle-spinning. Several previously observed differences among the recoupling schemes concerning their compensation to resonance offsets and radio-frequency (rf) inhomogeneity may qualitatively be rationalized by an AH analysis up to third perturbation order, despite its omission of first-order quadrupolar interactions. General aspects of the engineering of 2Q-recoupling pulse sequences applicable to half-integer spins are discussed, emphasizing the improvements offered from a diversity of supercycles providing enhanced suppression of undesirable AH cross-terms between resonance offsets and rf amplitude errors.  相似文献

A two-dimensional (13)C/(14)N heteronuclear multiple quantum correlation (HMQC) experiment using dipolar recoupling under magic-angle spinning (MAS) is described. The experiment is an extension of the recent indirect (13)C detection scheme for measuring (14)N quadrupolar coupling under MAS. The recoupling allows the direct use of the much larger dipolar interaction instead of the small J and residual dipolar couplings for establishing (13)C/(14)N correlations. Two recoupling methods are incorporated into the HMQC sequence, both applying rf only to the observed (13)C spin. The first one uses the REDOR sequence with two pi-pulses per rotor cycle. The second one uses a cw rf field matching the spinning frequency, known as rotary resonance. The effects of CSA, T(2)(') signal loss, MAS frequency and stability and t(1)-noise are compared and discussed.  相似文献

We compare several hetero-nuclear dipolar recoupling sequences available for HMQC or HSQC experiments applied to spin-1/2 and quadrupolar nuclei. These sequences, which are applied to a single channel, are based either on the rotary resonance recoupling (R3) irradiation, or on two continuous rotor-synchronized modulations (SFAM1 and SFAM2), or on four symmetry-based sequences (R2(1)1,SR4(1)2,R12(3)5,R20(5)9), or on the REDOR scheme. We analyze systems exhibiting purely hetero-nuclear dipolar interactions as well as systems where homo-nuclear dipolar interactions need to be canceled. A special attention is given to the behavior of these sequences at very fast MAS. It is shown that R3 methods behave poorly due to the narrowness of their rf-matching curves, and that the best methods are SR4(1)2 and SFAM (SFAM1 or SFAM2 if homo-nuclear interactions are not negligible). REDOR can also recouple efficiently hetero-nuclear dipolar interactions, provided the sequence is sent on the non-observed channel and homo-nuclear dipolar interactions are negligible. We anticipate that at ultra-fast spinning speed, SFAM1 and SFAM2 will be the most efficient methods.  相似文献

Numerical simulations and experiments were used to examine the possibility of employing strong spin-lock fields for recoupling of homonuclear dipolar interactions between spin-3/2 quadrupolar nuclei and to compare it to the rotary-resonance recoupling at weak spin-lock fields. It was shown that strong spin-lock pulses under MAS conditions can lead to recoupling, provided that the electric-field gradient principal axes systems of the coupled nuclei are aligned and that their quadrupolar coupling constants are approximately the same. The phenomenon is based on the fact that strong spin-lock pulses induce adiabatic transfer of magnetization between the central-transition coherence and the triple-quantum coherence with equal periodicity as is the periodicity of the time-dependent dipolar coupling. Because of the synchronous variation of the state of the spin system and of the dipolar interaction, the effect of the latter on the central-transition coherence and on the triple-quantum coherence is not averaged out by sample rotation. The approach is, however, very sensitive to the relative orientation of the electric-field gradient principal axes systems and therefore less robust than the approach based on weak spin-lock pulses that satisfy rotary-resonance condition.  相似文献

The maximum of the transferred magnetization in rotating powdered solids under the radiofrequency-driven recoupling (RFDR) pulse sequence is enhanced by reducing the orientation dependence of the effective recoupled homonuclear dipolar interaction. The compound RFDR (CRFDR) pulse sequence for this enhancement consists of RFDR pulse units (tau(i)-pi-tau(R)-pi-1171;tau(i)) with different tau(i), where tau(R) is the sample rotation period, tau(i) and 1171;tau(i) (=tau(R) - tau(i)) are delays, and pi is a 180 degrees pulse. The delay tau(i) modifies the zero-quantum spin operators and the sample rotation-angle dependence of the recoupled dipolar Hamiltonian. The CRFDR pulse sequences were optimized for mixing by varying tau(i). Numerical simulation for the two-spin system only with a dipolar interaction and isotropic chemical shifts indicates that the transfer efficiency of CRFDR averaged over the powder is about 70%, which is 30% higher than the efficiency of the RFDR pulse over a broad range of about 1/tau(R) in resonance frequency difference. The CRFDR sequences need about 60% longer mixing times to maximize the transferred magnetizaion in comparison with the original RFDR sequence. Chemical shift anisotropy, the other dipolar interactions, and relaxation generally reduce the enhancement by CRFDR. Experiments for fully (13)C-labeled alanine, however, show that the maximum of the magnetization transferred with CRFDR from the carboxyl to alpha carbon is about 15% greater than that with RFDR. We have developed a novel variant of REDOR which is applicable to multiple-spin systems without proton decoupling. The pulse sequence is constructed based on a systematic time displacement of the pi pulses of the conventional REDOR sequence. This so-called time displacement REDOR (td-REDOR) is insensitive to the effect of homonuclear dipole-dipole interaction when the higher order effects are negligible. The validity of td-REDOR has been verified experimentally by the P-31{C-13} measurements on glyphosate at a spinning frequency of 25 kHz. The experimental dephasing curve is in favorable agreement with the simulation data without considering the homonuclear dipole-dipole interactions.  相似文献

We have constructed a new type of amplifier whose primary purpose is the readout of superconducting quantum bits. It is based on the transition of a rf-driven Josephson junction between two distinct oscillation states near a dynamical bifurcation point. The main advantages of this new amplifier are speed, high sensitivity, low backaction, and the absence of on-chip dissipation. Pulsed microwave reflection measurements on nanofabricated Al junctions show that actual devices attain the performance predicted by theory.  相似文献

Recoupling of homonuclear double quantum (DQ)-dipolar interactions is a useful technique for the structural analysis of molecules in solids. We have designed a series of elemental 0 degrees pulses for the recoupling sequences with the rf phase rotation about the z-axis, known as CN. The proposed 0 degrees pulses whose total flip angle >/=360 degrees provide spin rotation vectors in the xy-plane. Thus, the residual spin rotation can be canceled by rf phase rotation about the z-axis. An analysis by the coherent averaging theory showed that effective bandwidths of the recoupling sequences are limited not by the reduction in the dipolar scaling factor but by the increase in the residual spin rotation due to offset. A CN sequence with these elemental pulses provides an effective bandwidth of DQ-dipolar recoupling from ca. 0.5nu(R) to 4nu(R) for numerical simulations. Here, nu(R) is the sample spinning frequency. The 0 degrees pulses were applied to band-selective recoupling for the magnetization transfer in uniformly 13C-labeled molecules. Narrow-band recoupling enhances the magnetization transfer between spins within the effective range by decoupling the dipolar interactions between spins one of which is outside the range. The narrow band operation reduces rf field strength, which improves the CH decoupling. Increases in signal intensities by the use of the proposed 0 degrees pulses are experimentally shown for 13C-labeled amino acids.  相似文献
