A Garside group is a group admitting a finite lattice generating set . Using techniques developed by Bestvina for Artin groups of finite type, we construct K(π, 1)s for Garside groups. This construction shows that the (co)homology of any Garside group G is easily computed given the lattice , and there is a simple sufficient condition that implies G is a duality group. The universal covers of these K(π, 1)s enjoy Bestvina's weak nonpositive curvature condition. Under a certain tameness condition, this implies that every solvable subgroup of G is virtually Abelian.  相似文献

If G is a finite group and if A is a group of automorphisms of G whose fixed point subgroup is C G (A) then every subgroup F of C G (A) acts on the set of orbits of A in G. The peculiarities of this action are used here to derive several results on the number of orbits of A in an economical manner.Original Russian Text Copyright © 2005 Deaconescu M. and Walls G. Using the canonical JSJ splitting, we describe the outer automorphism group Out(G) of a one-ended word hyperbolic group G. In particular, we discuss to what extent Out(G) is virtually a direct product of mapping class groups and a free abelian group, and we determine for which groups Out(G) is infinite. We also show that there are only finitely many conjugacy classes of torsion elements in Out(G), for G any torsion-free hyperbolic group. More generally, let Γ be a finite graph of groups decomposition of an arbitrary group G such that edge groups Ge are rigid (i.e. Out(Ge) is finite). We describe the group of automorphisms of G preserving Γ, by comparing it to direct products of suitably defined mapping class groups of vertex groups.  相似文献

If G is an arbitrary group, then the group Autvt(G) consists, by definition, of all virtually trivial automorphisms of G, i.e. of all automorphisms that have the fixed-point subgroup of finite index in G. We investigate the structure of Autvt(G) and show that it possesses a certain “well-behaved” normal series which demonstrates its closeness to finitary linear groups. This is then used to prove that each simple section of Autvt(G) is a finitary linear group.  相似文献

Let k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, F be an algebraically closed extension of k of transcendence degree one, and G be the group of automorphisms over k of the field F. The purpose of this note is to calculate the group of continuous automorphisms of G.  相似文献

Let G be a group and Aut(G) be the group of automorphisms of G. Then the Acentralizer of an automorphism α ∈Aut(G) in G is defined as C G (α) = {g ∈ G∣α(g) = g}. For a finite group G, let Acent(G) = {C G (α)∣α ∈Aut(G)}. Then for any natural number n, we say that G is n-Acentralizer group if |Acent(G)| =n. We show that for any natural number n, there exists a finite n-Acentralizer group and determine the structure of finite n-Acentralizer groups for n ≤ 5.  相似文献

A Dehn twist automorphism of a group G is an automorphism which can be given (as specified below) in terms of a graph-of-groups decomposition of G with infinite cyclic edge groups. The classic example is that of an automorphism of the fundamental group of a surface which is induced by a Dehn twist homeomorphism of the surface. For , a non-abelian free group of finite rank n, a normal form for Dehn twist is developed, and it is shown that this can be used to solve the conjugacy problem for Dehn twist automorphisms of . Let G be a Lie group over a local field of characteristic p > 0 which admits a contractive automorphism α : GG (i.e., α n (x) → 1 as n → ∞, for each xG). We show that G is a torsion group of finite exponent and nilpotent. We also obtain results concerning the interplay between contractive automorphisms of Lie groups over local fields, contractive automorphisms of their Lie algebras, and positive gradations thereon. Some of the results extend to Lie groups over arbitrary complete ultrametric fields. Supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG), grants GL 357/2-1 and GL 357/6-1.  相似文献

We present an explicit construction for the central extension of the group Map(X, G) where X is a compact manifold and G is a Lie group. If X is a complex curve we obtain a simple construction of the extension by the Picard variety Pic(X). The construction is easily adapted to the extension of Aut(E), the gauge group of automorphisms of a nontrivial vector bundle E.  相似文献

For a given group G and a monomorphism φ:GG×G there is a group ?φ(G), introduced by the author, which blends Thompson’s group F with G. Given a presentation of G we determine a presentation of ?φ(G). In particular, we prove that ?φ(G) is finitely generated (resp. finitely presented) if G is finitely generated (resp. finitely presented).  相似文献

In this article we define G-algebras, that is, graded algebras on which a reductive group G, acts as gradation preserving automorphisms. Starting from a finite dimensional G-module V and the polynomial ring ?[V], it is shown how one constructs a sequence of projective varieties Vk such that each point of Vk corresponds to a graded algebra with the same decomposition up to degree k as a G-module. After some general theory, we apply this to the case that V is the n+1-dimensional permutation representation of Sn+1, the permutation group on n+1 letters.  相似文献

Let G be a group. By using a family 𝒜 of subsets of automorphisms of G, we introduced a simple graph Γ𝒜(G), which is a generalization of the non-commuting graph. In this paper, we study the combinatorial properties of Γ𝒜(G).  相似文献

Suppose G is a Lie group acting as a group of holomorphic automorphisms on a holomorphic principal bundle PX. We show that if there is a holomorphic action of the complexification GC of G on. X, this lifts to a holomorphic action of GC on the bundle PX. Two applications are presented. We prove that given any connected homogeneous complex manifold G/H with more than one end, the complexification GC of G acts holomorphically and transitively on G/H. We also show that the ends of a homogeneous complex manifold G/H with more than two ends essentially come from a space of the form S/Γ, where Γ is a Zariski dense discrete subgroup of a semisimple complex Lie group S with S and Γ being explicitly constructed in terms of G and H.  相似文献

In this article, we first give a necessary and sufficient condition on a finite purely nonabelian p-group G for the group Aut c (G) of central automorphisms of G to be elementary Abelian. We then generalize our result to the homocyclic case.  相似文献

Let W be a nonempty subset of a free group. We call an automorphism α of a group G a marginal automorphism if x ?1α(x) ∈ W*(G) for each x ∈ G, where W*(G) is the marginal subgroup of G. In this article, we give some results on marginal automorphisms of a group.  相似文献

In this article, we show that for every abelian subgroup H of a Garside group, some conjugate g ?1 Hg consists of ultra summit elements and the centralizer of H is a finite index subgroup of the normalizer of H. Combining with the results on translation numbers in Garside groups, we obtain an easy proof of the algebraic flat torus theorem for Garside groups and solve several algorithmic problems concerning abelian subgroups of Garside groups.  相似文献

We consider groups Γ of automorphisms of a groupG acting by means of power automorphisms on the factors of a normal series inG with lengthm. We show that [G, Γ] is nilpotent with class at mostm and that this bound is best possible. Moreover, such a Γ is parasoluble with paraheight at most 1/2m(m+3)+1, provided Γ′ is periodic. We give best possible bound in the case where the series is a central one.  相似文献
