This paper proves that a set of orthogonal pure states are indistinguishable by restricted local projective measurement and classical communication if the sum of their Schmidt ranks is larger than the dimension of their joint Hilbert space. This result is useful in determining the local distinguishability of quantum states and is stronger in some respects than that of Hayashi et al [Phys. Rev. Lett. 96, 040501]. In addition, it presents a new method to determine the local distinguishability of orthogonal states by projecting measurement operators into their subspaces.  相似文献

We analyze the distinguishability norm on the states of a multi-partite system, defined by local measurements. Concretely, we show that the norm associated to a tensor product of sufficiently symmetric measurements is essentially equivalent to a multi-partite generalisation of the non-commutative ${\ell_2}$ ? 2 -norm (aka Hilbert-Schmidt norm): in comparing the two, the constants of domination depend only on the number of parties but not on the Hilbert spaces dimensions. We discuss implications of this result on the corresponding norms for the class of all measurements implementable by local operations and classical communication (LOCC), and in particular on the leading order optimality of multi-party data hiding schemes.  相似文献

We consider the problem of ambiguous discrimination of two quantum states when we are only allowed to perform a restricted set of measurements. Let the bias of a POVM be defined as the total variational distance between the outcome distributions for the two states to be distinguished. The performance of a set of measurements can then be defined as the ratio of the bias of this POVM and the largest bias achievable by any measurements. We first provide lower bounds on the performance of various POVMs acting on a single system such as the isotropic POVM, and spherical 2 and 4-designs, and show how these bounds can lead to certainty relations. Furthermore, we prove lower bounds for several interesting POVMs acting on multipartite systems, such as the set of local POVMS, POVMs which can be implemented using local operations and classical communication (LOCC), separable POVMs, and finally POVMs for which every bipartition results in a measurement having positive partial transpose (PPT). In particular, our results show that a scheme of Terhal et. al. for hiding data against local operations and classical communication [31] has the best possible dimensional dependence.  相似文献

We consider the manipulation of multipartite entangled states in the limit of many copies under quantum operations that asymptotically cannot generate entanglement. In stark contrast to the manipulation of entanglement under local operations and classical communication, the entanglement shared by two or more parties can be reversibly interconverted in this setting. The unique entanglement measure is identified as the regularized relative entropy of entanglement, which is shown to be equal to a regularized and smoothed version of the logarithmic robustness of entanglement. Here we give a rigorous proof of this result, which is fundamentally based on a certain recent extension of quantum Stein’s Lemma, giving the best measurement strategy for discriminating several copies of an entangled state from an arbitrary sequence of non-entangled states, with an optimal distinguishability rate equal to the regularized relative entropy of entanglement. We moreover analyse the connection of our approach to axiomatic formulations of the second law of thermodynamics.  相似文献

Based on a new measure of entanglement for finite-dimensional bi-particle pure states, we give sufficient and necessary conditions that a bi-particle mixed state ρ can be transformed into another mixed state σ by local operations and classical communication (LOCC). This result can be regarded as a generalization of Nielsen’s theorem (Nielsen, Phys. Rev. Lett. 83:436, 1999). However, we find that it is more difficult to determine the entanglement transformations between mixed states than to do between pure ones.  相似文献

It has been proven that, with a single copy provided, the four Bell states cannot be distinguished by local operations and classical communications (LOCC). Traditionally, a Bell basis projective measurement is needed to distinguish the four Bell states, which is usually carried out with a local interference between two particles. This paper presents an interesting protocol that allows two remote parties to distinguish four Bell states deterministically. We prove that our protocol of distinguishing remote Bell states is beyond LOCC.  相似文献

A multiparty simultaneous quantum identity authentication protocol based on Greenberger--Horne--Zeilinger (GHZ) states is proposed. The multi-user can be authenticated by a trusted third party (TTP) simultaneously. Compared with the scheme proposed recently (Wang et al 2006, Chin. Phys. Lett. 23(9) 2360), the proposed scheme has the advantages of consuming fewer quantum and classical resources and lessening the difficulty and intensity of necessary operations.  相似文献

We consider the class of protocols that can be implemented by local quantum operations and classical communication (LOCC) between two parties. In particular, we focus on the task of discriminating a known set of quantum states by LOCC. Building on the work in the paper Quantum nonlocality without entanglement (Bennett et al., Phys Rev A 59:1070–1091, 1999), we provide a framework for bounding the amount of nonlocality in a given set of bipartite quantum states in terms of a lower bound on the probability of error in any LOCC discrimination protocol. We apply our framework to an orthonormal product basis known as the domino states and obtain an alternative and simplified proof that quantifies its nonlocality. We generalize this result for similar bases in larger dimensions, as well as the “rotated” domino states, resolving a long-standing open question (Bennett et al., Phys Rev A 59:1070–1091, 1999).  相似文献

We examine the problem of copying a set of orthogonal, entangled partially (non-maximally) bipartite pure states with an entangled blank state under the restriction to local operations and classical communication (LOCC), and show a protocol for copying these states by LOCC. The necessary and sufficient condition for locally copying partially entangled pure states is then represented. As a result, we find that the problem of local copying these entangled states can be regarded to some extent as that of catalytic transformation between them by LOCC.  相似文献

We propose a simple geometrical approach for finding robustness of entanglement for Bell decomposable states of two-qubit quantum systems. It is shown that for these states robustness is equal to the concurrence. We also present an analytical expression for two separable states that wipe out all entanglement of these states. Random robustness of these states is also obtained. We also obtain robustness of a class of states obtained from Bell decomposable states via some special local operations and classical communications (LOCC).Received: 28 October 2002, Published online: 5 August 2003PACS: 03.65.Ud Entanglement and quantum nonlocality (e.g. EPR paradox, Bell's inequalities, GHZ states, etc.)  相似文献

We develop a multiparty quantum secret sharing (QSS) scheme of classical messages based on arbitrary dimensional multi-particle Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states. This scheme can be implemented using only local operations, e.g. generalized Z gate and Hadamard gate, and classical communication (LOCC) between participants. The security of the present scheme against exterior eavesdropping and interior dishonest party has been analyzed and confirmed. Moreover, we discuss the possibility of successful sharing of classical messages in the realistic situation where our QSS scheme is carried out in generalized Pauli channels.  相似文献

W. Dur et al. have shown that it is impossible to obtain a GHZ state from one copy of arbitrary W-class state via local operations and classical communication (LOCC) [W. Dur, G. Vidal, and J.I. Cirac, Phys. Rev. A 62 (2000) 062314]. In our paper, the more general case is carefully investigated. We first show that, with a supply of two copies of arbitrary W-class state, we can always construct an explicit procedure to distill a GHZ state with a nonzero probability. Then based on this result, a simple procedure for distilling GHZ state from n copies of arbitrary W-class state is presented. Finally, we briefly discuss the applications.  相似文献

A phenomenological model which combines the axially symmetric ion-ion interaction with the electron-ion interaction scheme of Bhatia has been successfully used to calculate the phonon dispersion curves of bcc Ba. In particular, when the elastic constants determined by Mizukiet al are used as input data, the model successfully reproduces the anomalous feature of the dispersion curves measured by them. On the other hand, when the elastic constants determined by Buchenauet al are used, the model produces a cross over of the longitudinal and transverse branches in the [100] direction, a feature not established in their measurements. Thus the features of the dispersion curves in the [100] direction which is due to the hybridization of thes andd states are evident in the measured elastic constants and are consistent with the values of C12-C44.  相似文献

We propose a novel deterministic protocol that two senders are capable of remotely preparing arbitrary two-and three-qubit states for a remote receiver using EPR pairs and GHZ state as the quantum channel.Compared with the existing deterministic protocols [An et al.2011 Phys.Lett.A 375 3570 and Chen et al.2012 J.Phys.A:Math.Theor.45 055303],the quantum resources and classical information in our scheme are decreased, and the whole operation process is simplified.  相似文献

The construction of a perfectly secure private quantum channel in dimension d is known to require 2logd shared random key bits between the sender and receiver. We show that if only near-perfect security is required, the size of the key can be reduced by a factor of two. More specifically, we show that there exists a set of roughly dlogd unitary operators whose average effect on every input pure state is almost perfectly randomizing, as compared to the d2 operators required to randomize perfectly. Aside from the private quantum channel, variations of this construction can be applied to many other tasks in quantum information processing. We show, for instance, that it can be used to construct LOCC data hiding schemes for bits and qubits that are much more efficient than any others known, allowing roughly logd qubits to be hidden in 2logd qubits. The method can also be used to exhibit the existence of quantum states with locked classical correlations, an arbitrarily large amplification of the correlation being accomplished by sending a negligibly small classical key. Our construction also provides the basic building block for a method of remotely preparing arbitrary d-dimensional pure quantum states using approximately logd bits of communication and logd ebits of entanglement.  相似文献

In this Letter we analyze the (im)possibility of the exact cloning of orthogonal three-qubit CAT states under local operation and classical communication (LOCC) with the help of a restricted entangled state. We also classify the three-qubit CAT states that can (not) be cloned under LOCC restrictions and extend the results to the n-qubit case.  相似文献

We consider a fixed quantum measurement performed over n identical copies of quantum states. Using a rigorous notion of distinguishability based on Shannon’s 12th theorem, we show that in the case of a single qubit, the number of distinguishable states is , where (α12) is the angle interval from which the states are chosen. In the general case of an N-dimensional Hilbert space and an area Ω of the domain on the unit sphere from which the states are chosen, the number of distinguishable states is . The optimal distribution is uniform over the domain in Cartesian coordinates.  相似文献

We consider a quantum system subject to superselection rules, for which certain restrictions apply to the quantum operations that can be implemented. It is shown how the notion of quantum nonlocality has to be redefined in the presence of superselection rules: there exist separable states that cannot be prepared locally and exhibit some form of nonlocality. Moreover, the notion of local distinguishability in the presence of classical communication has to be altered. This can be used to perform quantum information tasks that are otherwise impossible. In particular, this leads to the introduction of perfect quantum data hiding protocols, for which quantum communication (eventually in the form of a separable but nonlocal state) is needed to unlock the secret.  相似文献
