The electronic structure and geometries of (Z)- and (E)-H-CON- N+(CH3)3 have been examined at two levels of theory: B3LYP (basis sets 6-311+G(d,p), 6-311++G(d,p), and 6-311G(3df,3pd)) and MP2(full)/6-311++G(d,p). The (Z) conformation about the C(O)-N(-) bond is thermodynamically preferred over the (E) configuration. Natural bond orbital calculation locates one lone pair of the N- in the HOMO, which is the p(z) natural hybrid orbital (perpendicular to the O=CN- N+ plane). The second lone pair (of lower energy) of N- occupies the HOMO-3, which is the natural hybrid orbital sp(1.12) (sp(1.01) for the (E) conformation, sp(1.74) in the rotational transition state). The carbonyl pi bond is the HOMO-2. The charge-transfer ability of the negative nitrogen in H-CON- N+ (CH3)3 is more powerful than that of the neutral amidic nitrogen in dimethylformamide. The following facts convincingly sustain this view: (1) the higher rotational barrier (stronger C-N(-) bond) in the case of H-CON- N+ (CH3)3, (2) natural resonance theory analysis predicts almost equal weights for the (Z)-H-C(=O)N- N+ (CH3)3 and the (Z)-H-C(O-)=NN+ (CH3)3 canonical resonance structures whereas the weight of the HCON(CH3)2 structure is almost twice as large as that of HC(O-)=N+ (CH3)2, and (3) the second-order perturbation stabilization, as a result of the donor (N-)/acceptor (carbonyl) interaction, is 101.3 kcal/mol for H-CON- N+ (CH3)3 and only 64.4 kcal/mol for dimethylformamide.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations at MP2/6-311++G(2d,2p) and MP2/6-311++G(3df,3pd) computational levels have been used to analyze the interactions between nitrous oxide and a series of small and large molecules that act simultaneously as hydrogen bond donors and electron donors. The basis set superposition error (BSSE) and zero point energy (ZPE) corrected binding energies of small N2O complexes (H2O, NH3, HOOH, HOO*, HONH2, HCO2H, H2CO, HCONH2, H2CNH, HC(NH)NH2, SH2, H2CS, HCSOH, HCSNH2) vary between -0.93 and -2.90 kcal/mol at MP2/6-311++G(3df,3pd) level, and for eight large complexes of N2O they vary between -2.98 and -3.37 kcal/mol at the MP2/6-311++G(2d,2p) level. The most strongly bound among small N2O complexes (HCSNH2-N2O) contains a NH..N bond, along with S-->N interactions, and the most unstable (H2S-N2O) contains just S-->N interactions. The electron density properties have been analyzed within the atoms in molecules (AIM) methodology. Results of the present study open a window into the nature of the interactions between N2O with other molecular moieties and open the possibility to design N2O abiotic receptors.  相似文献

The geometries and their harmonic frequencies of the difluoroethylene isomers were gradient optimized using ab initio methods at the different levels. High-level methods give very good structural parameters in comparison to experiment. The single energy of stable structure and the frontier orbital energy gap were calculated using MP4SDTQ/6-311++G(2df,2pd) method, and it is found that the single energy of stable structure of cis isomer is lower than that of trans isomer. This is consistent with the experimental result. Mulliken population analyses were also performed to interpret the internal nature of cis preference of difluoroethylene isomers.  相似文献

A proper understanding of the conformational energetics of 1,2-ethanediol (ethylene glycol) is important to the construction of molecular mechanics force fields for the treatment of carbohydrates since these biologically important molecules have a prevalence of vicinal hydroxyl groups. In the present study, quantum mechanical analysis of the 10 unique minimum-energy conformations of ethylene glycol is performed by using 10 model chemistries ranging from HF/6-311++G(d,p) up to a hybrid method that approximates CCSD(T)/cc-pVQZ. In addition, natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis of these conformations with deletion of pairings of CO bond/antibonding and lone pair/antibonding orbitals is used to investigate contributions from the "gauche" effect to ethylene glycol conformational energetics. MP2 with the "correlation consistent" basis sets and DFT/6-311++G(d,p) do the best job of matching the approximate CCSD(T)/cc-pVQZ energies while MP2/6-31G(d) and Hartree-Fock both fare poorly. NBO analysis shows the conformational energies to be independent of the deletion of matrix elements associated with (i) CO bonding and antibonding orbital interactions and (ii) lone pair and antibonding orbital interactions, whereas the energetic ordering correlates with geometric parameters consistent with internal hydrogen bonds. Thus, the present results suggest that standard molecular mechanics potential energy functional forms, which lack explicit terms to account for stereoelectronic effects, are appropriate for carbohydrates.  相似文献

Geometries and binding energies were predicted at the B3LYP/6-311+G* level for the guanine-BX3 (X = F, Cl) systems and four isomers with no imaginary frequencies have been obtained for both guanine-BF3 and guanine-BCl3, respectively. Single energy calculations using much larger basis sets (6-311+G(2df,p) and aug-cc-pVDZ were carried out as well. It was found that the most stable isomer of guanine-BF3 is BF3 connected to N3 of guanine with the stabilization energy of –19.93 kcal/mol (BSSE corrected), while that of guanine-BCl3 is BCl3 connected to O10 of guanine having stabilization energy of –15.02 kcal/mol at the same level. The analyses for the combining interaction between BX3 and guanine with the atom-in-molecules theory (AIM) and natural bond orbital (NBO) methods have been performed. The results indicated that all the isomers are formed with σ-p type interactions between guanine and BX3, in which pyridine-type nitrogen or carbonyl oxygen or nitrogen atom of amino group offers its lone pair electrons to the empty p orbital of boron atom and the concomitance of charge transfer from guanine to BX3 has occurred. Still, one or two hydrogen bonds exist in some isomers of guanine-BX3 system and contribute to the stability of complex systems. Frequency analysis suggested that the stretching vibration of BX3 undergoes a red shift in complexes. Guanine-BF3 complex is more stable than guanine-BCl3 although the B–Y (Y=N, O) bond distance in the latter is shorter.  相似文献

The origin of the X-Hal bond-length change in the halogen bond of the X-Hal...Y type has been investigated at the MP2(full)/6-311++G(d,p) level of theory using a natural bond orbital analysis, atoms in molecules procedure, and electrostatic potential fitting methods. Our results have clearly shown that various theories explaining the nature of the hydrogen bond cannot be applied to explain the origin of the X-Hal bond-length change in the halogen bond. We provide a new explanation for this change. The elongation of the X-Hal bond length is caused by the electron-density transfer to the X-Hal sigma* antibonding orbital. For the blue-shifting halogen bond, the electron-density transfer to the X-Hal sigma* antibonding orbital is only of minor importance; it is the electrostatic attractive interaction that causes the X-Hal bond contraction.  相似文献

The authors report the first theoretical study on the hexa-atomic molecules CAl(4)X (X=Si,Ge) at the B3LYP/6-311++G(2d), MP2/6-311++G(2d), and CCSD(T)/6-311++G(3df) (single point) levels. Three low-lying isomers (within 2.0 kcal/mol) can be formally viewed as constructed by one Al+ interacting with the planar CAl3X- at the side Al-X bond (X-1), side Al-Al bond (X-2), and central C atom (X-3). The isomers X-1 and X-2 both have planar structures that include the planar tetracoordinate carbon, aluminum, and silicon/germanium, while the three-dimensional isomer X-3 has the pentacoordinate carbon. The planarity of X-1 and X-2 is ascribed to the ligand five-center two-electron bonding molecular orbital, similar to the orbital responsible for the planarity of CAl3X- (X=Si,Ge). Kinetically, the two planar structures X-1 and X-2 can be easily interconverted to each other via the intermediate X-3, indicative of their coexistence. Of particular interest, isomer X-1 represents the first example that simultaneously contains three types of planar centers in a single molecule, to the best of our knowledge. The three low-lying and structurally interesting isomers X-1, X-2, and X-3 await future experimental verification. The present results could enrich the planar chemistry.  相似文献

The microwave spectrum of 3-butyne-1-thiol has been studied by means of Stark-modulation microwave spectroscopy and quantum-chemical calculations employing the B3LYP/6-311++G(3df,2pd), MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ, MP2/6-311++G(3df,2pd), and G3 methods. Rotational transitions attributable to two conformers of this molecule were assigned. One of these conformers possesses an antiperiplanar arrangement of the atoms S-C1-C2-C3, while the other is synclinal and stabilized by the formation of an intramolecular hydrogen bond between the H-atom of the thiol group and the pi-electrons of the C[triple bond]C triple bond. The energy difference between these conformers was estimated to be 1.7(4) kJ mol(-1) by relative intensity measurements, with the hydrogen-bonded conformer being lower in energy. The spectra of five vibrationally excited states of the synclinal conformer were observed, and an assignment of these states to particular vibrational modes was made with the aid of a density functional theory (DFT) calculation of the vibrational frequencies at the B3LYP/6-311++G(3df,2pd) level of theory.  相似文献

The cis- and trans-azobenzenes are known as photochromic isomers with the trans- converting into the cis-form and vice versa upon irradiation with specific wavelengths. We have quantum chemically investigated the cis- and trans-forms of substituted azobenzene diradicals, with two nitronyl nitroxides, imino nitoxides, or verdazyls at para positions and serving as monoradical centers, to determine whether they can exhibit a photoassisted magnetic crossover. Geometries of both substituted and unsubstituted molecules have been optimized by density functional (DF) method UB3LYP using the 6-311G(d,p) basis set. Optimization of the geometry of the cis isomers has required special care. Single point singlet, triplet, and broken symmetry calculations have been done using 6-311++G(3df, 3pd) basis set. The magnetic exchange coupling constants have been estimated from the broken symmetry calculations. Absorption wavelengths have been estimated for both substituted and unsubstituted species from time-dependent DF treatment using restricted spin-polarized methodology RB3LYP and 6-311++G(3df, 3pd) basis set. From the similarity in the calculated absorption wavelengths for the unsubstituted and substituted azobenzenes, and the increased oscillator strengths (f) for the substituted species, we predict that the diradical isomers would be strongly photochromic. From our triplet state and broken symmetry calculations, we predict that both the cis- and the trans-diradicals are antiferromagnetically coupled. This prediction is consistent with the spin alternation rule, and the possibility of a magnetic crossover is nonexistent for these species.  相似文献

The potential energy surface (PES) for the HOBr.H(2)O complex has been investigated using second- and fourth-order M?ller-Plesset perturbation theory (MP2, MP4) and coupled cluster theory with single and doubles excitations (CCSD), and a perturbative approximation of triple excitations (CCSD-T), correlated ab initio levels of theory employing basis sets of triple zeta quality with polarization and diffuse functions up to the 6-311++G(3dp,3df ) standard Pople's basis set. Six stationary points being three minima, two first-order transition state (TS) structures and one second-order TS were located on the PES. The global minimum syn and the anti equilibrium structure are virtually degenerated [DeltaE(ele-nuc) approximately 0.3 kcal mol(-1), CCSD-T/6-311++G(3df,3pd) value], with the third minima being approximately 4 kcal mol(-1) away. IRC analysis was performed to confirm the correct connectivity of the two first-order TS structures. The CCSD-T/6-311++G(3df,3pd)//MP2/6-311G(d,p) barrier for the syn<-->anti interconversion is 0.3 kcal mol(-1), indicating that a mixture of the syn and anti forms of the HOBr.H(2)O complex is likely to exist.  相似文献

A novel species, diaceto disulfide (CH3C(O)OSSOC(O)CH3), has been generated through the heterogeneous reaction between sulfur monochloride (S2Cl2) and silver acetate (AgOC(O)CH3). Photoelectron spectroscopy (PES) and theoretical calculations are performed to investigate its electronic and geometric structures. This molecule exhibits gauche conformation with both C=O groups syn to the S-O bond. The dihedral angle around the S-S bond is calculated to be -93.1 degrees at the B3LYP/6-311++G(3df,3pd) level. After structural optimizations of the most stable conformer, a theoretical study involving the calculation of the ionization energies using orbital valence Green's functional (OVGF) was performed. The ionization energies of different bands in the photoelectron spectrum are in good agreement with the calculated values from the OVGF method. The first vertical ionization energy of CH3C(O)OSSOC(O)CH3 is determined to be 9.83 eV by photoelectron spectroscopy, which corresponds to the ionization of an electron mainly localized on the sulfur 3p lone pair molecular orbital.  相似文献

Complexes between formic acid or formate anion and various proton donors (HF, H(2)O, NH(3), and CH(4)) are studied by the MP2 and B3LYP methods with the 6-311++G(3df,3pd) basis set. Formation of a complex is characterized by electron-density transfer from electron donor to ligands. This transfer is much larger with the formate anion, for which it exceeds 0.1 e. Electron-density transfer from electron lone pairs of the electron donor is directed into sigma* antibonding orbitals of X--H bonds of the electron acceptor and leads to elongation of the bond and a red shift of the X--H stretching frequency (standard H-bonding). However, pronounced electron-density transfer from electron lone pairs of the electron donor also leads to reorganization of the electron density in the electron donor, which results in changes in geometry and vibrational frequency. These changes are largest for the C--H bonds of formic acid and formate anion, which do not participate in H-bonding. The resulting blue shift of this stretching frequency is substantial and amounts to almost 35 and 170 cm(-1), respectively.  相似文献

The molecular structure of fluoromalononitrile was studied by means of gas-phase electron diffraction and quantum mechanical methods using HF/6-31G(d), MP2/6-311++G(2df,2pd) and DFT/B3LYP/6-31G(d), B3PW91/6-31G(d), B3LYP/6-311++G(2df,2pd) and B3PW91/6-311++G(2df,2pd).

X-Cl...H-Y interactions are analyzed by applying ab initio methods as well as the Bader theory. All calculations were performed using Pople's basis sets (6-311++G(2df,2pd) and 6-311++G(3df,3pd)) as well as the Dunning-type bases (aug-cc-pVDZ and aug-cc-pVTZ) within the MP2 method. For the complexes analyzed here, X-Cl and H-Y may be treated as a Lewis acid and a Lewis base, respectively. The Cl...H interactions are rather weak or at most moderate since, for the strongest interaction of the F3...HLi complex, the binding energy calculated at the MP2/6-311++G(3df,3pd) level of approximation amounts to -3.4 kcal/mol, and the H...Cl distance is equal to 2.65 A, less than the corresponding sum of van der Waals radii. These interactions may be classified as halogen-hydride interactions. However, some of the complexes analyzed, especially F3SiCl...HBeF and F3SiCl...HBeF, are very weakly bound, probably by typical van der Waals interactions.  相似文献

Ab initio MO calculations have been carried out for the ozone-water 1:1 complexes in order to elucidate the structures and electronic state of the complexes. The QCISD calculations indicated that three structures are obtained as stable forms of O(3)-H(2)O. The most stable structure of O(3)-H(2)O has C(s) symmetry where the central oxygen of O(3) and all atoms of H(2)O are located on the molecular C(s) plane. The dipole of H(2)O orients toward the central oxygen atom of O(3) (i.e., dipole orientation form). The other two forms are cis and trans forms of O(3)-H(2)O where all atoms are located on the molecular plane, and a hydrogen of H(2)O binds to one of the terminal oxygen atoms of O(3) by a hydrogen bond. The binding energies of O(3) to H(2)O for dipole, cis, and trans forms are calculated to be 2.39, 2.27, and 2.30 kcal/mol, respectively, at the QCISD(T)/6-311++G(3df,3pd)//QCISD/6-311++G((d,p) level. The dipole orientation form is more stable in energy than the cis and trans forms. Rotational constants for the dipole orientation form are calculated to be A = 11.897, B = 4.177, and C = 3.318 GHz which are in good agreement with the experimental values (A = 11.961, B = 4.174, and C = 3.265 GHz). The electronic states of O(3)-H(2)O were discussed on the basis of theoretical results.  相似文献

H-bonding angle angleYHX has an important effect on the electronic properties of the H-bond Y...HX, such as intra- and intermolecular hyperconjugations and rehybridization, and topological properties of electron density. We studied the multifurcated bent H-bonds of the proton donors H3CZ (Z = F, Cl, Br), H2CO and H2CF2 with the proton acceptors Cl(-) and Br(-) at the four high levels of theory: MP2/6-311++G(d,p), MP2/6-311++G(2df,2p), MP2/6-311++G(3df,3pd) and QCISD/6-311++G(d,p), and found that they are all blue-shifted. These complexes have large interaction energies, 7-12 kcal mol(-1), and large blue shifts, delta r(HC) = -0.0025 --0.006 A and delta v(HC) = 30-90 cm(-1). The natural bond orbital analysis shows that the blue shifts of these H-bonds Y...HnCZ are mainly caused by three factors: rehybridization; indirect intermolecular hyperconjugation n(Y) -->sigma*(CZ), in that the electron density from n(Y) of the proton acceptor is transferred not to sigma*(CH), but to sigma*(CZ) of the donor; intramolecular hyperconjugation n(Z) -->sigma*(CH), in that the electron density in sigma*(CH) comes back to n(Z) of the donor such that the occupancy in sigma*(CH) decreases. The topological properties of the electron density of the bifurcated H-bonds Y...H2CZ are similar to those of the usual linear H-bonds, there is a bond critical point between Y and each hydrogen, and a ring critical point inside the tetragon YHCH. However, the topological properties of electron density of the trifurcated H-bonds Y...H3CZ are essentially different from those of linear H-bonds, in that the intermolecular bond critical point, which represents a closed-shell interaction, is not between Y and hydrogen, but between Y and carbon.  相似文献

The electronic structure and thermochemical stability of the HOX-SO(3) (X = F, Cl, Br) complexes is studied using second-order M?ller-Plesset perturbation theory (MP2). The calculated dissociation energies of the HOF-SO(3), HOCl-SO(3), and HOBr-SO(3) complexes are 5.43, 6.02, and 5.98 kcal mol(-1) at MP2/6-311++G(3df,3pd) level, respectively. Anharmonic OH stretching frequencies of the HOX (X = F, Cl, Br) moieties along with the frequency shifts upon complex formation are calculated at the MP2/6-311++G(2df,2p) level. AIM and NBO analyses were also performed. Theoretical data strongly encourage performing of matrix-isolation studies of the title complexes and their spectroscopic identification.  相似文献

The SAC‐CI (symmetry‐adapted‐cluster configuration‐interaction) method presented in Gaussian 03 program package is applied to investigate the adiabatic potential energy curves (PECs) of 7Li2(b3Πu). These calculations are performed at numbers of basis sets, such as 6‐311++G(3df,3pd), 6‐311++G(2df,2pd), 6‐311++G(df,pd), D95V++, D95(3df,3pd), D95(d,p), cc‐PVTZ, 6‐311++G and 6‐311++G(d,p). All the ab initio calculated points are fitted to the analytic Murrell‐Sorbie functions and then used to compute the spectroscopic parameters. The analytic potential energy function (APEF) for this b3Πu state is reported. By comparison, the spectroscopic parameters reproduced by the APEF attained at 6‐311++G(2df,2pd) are found to be very close to the latest experimental findings. With the APEF obtained at the SAC‐CI/6‐311++G(2df,2pd) level of theory, a total of 62 vibrational states is found when J = 0. The complete vibrational levels, classical turning points, inertial rotation and centrifugal distortion constants for these vibrational states are also reported. The reasonable dissociation limit for this state is deduced using the calculated results at present. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Quantum Chem, 2007  相似文献
