The effect of Nd3+ concentration on the CW and Q-switched laser performances at 1064 nm from Nd: YVO4 has been studied under diode laser pumping in identical laser configuration. The Nd3+ concentrations used were 1, 2 and 3 at.% in YVO4 crystals. Under the CW operations we have compared the thermal lensing effect, slope efficiencies and also the beam quality at the fourth-order degeneracy configuration. Q-switching was done with the help of an acousto-optic modulator and we have compared the pulses obtained from Nd: YVO4 laser with different doping concentration. It was found that the 1 at.%-doped crystal is the best, offering highest optical-to-optical conversion efficiency (55%), lowest fractional heat load (24%), highest pulse energy (80 μJ) and shortest pulse width (20 ns). It was also found that there was not much difference in performances for 2 and 3 at.%-doped crystals both in CW and Q-switched configurations.  相似文献

By simultaneously using both V3+:YAG and Co:LMA saturable absorbers in the cavity, a diode-pumped doubly passively Q-switched c-cut Nd:GdVO4 laser at 1.34 μm is demonstrated for the first time. The average output power, the pulse width and the pulse repetition rate have been measured. The experimental results show that the doubly passively Q-switched laser can generate shorter pulse width with higher peak power in comparison to the singly passively Q-switched laser only with V3+:YAG or Co:LMA saturable absorber. At the pump power 13 W, the pulse width has been compressed 83% and the peak power has been improved 15 times, respectively.  相似文献

A compact diode-pumped passively Q-switched intracavity frequency-doubled Nd:GdVO4/KTP green-pulse laser was demonstrated, using Cr4+:YAG as a saturable absorber in a simple flat–flat cavity. With a 5.9 W incident pump power, a passively Q-switched green laser was obtained with an average power of 397 mW, repetition rate of 40 kHz, and pulse width of 40 ns, when the initial transmission of Cr4+:YAG was 85%. The shortest pulse width of 30 ns, the highest green peak power of 696 W and the maximum pulse energy of 21 μJ were obtained when the initial transmission of Cr4+:YAG was 70%. Under CW green operation, we obtained 440 mW output power.  相似文献

By using both acousto-optic (AO) modulator and V3+:YAG saturable absorber, a diode-pumped doubly Q-switched a-cut Nd:GdVO4 laser at 1.34 μm is realized. The average output power and the pulse width for different AO repetition rate f have been measured. The experimental results show that the doubly Q-switched laser can compress the pulse width and improve the pulsed peak power in comparison to the singly Q-switched laser with AO or V3+:YAG saturable absorber. At the pump power 10.34 W and f = 10 kHz, the greatest pulse width compression ratio 72% and the highest peak power improvement 8.8 times have been obtained, respectively.  相似文献

Passively Q-switched output of a flashlamp-pumped 1.319 μm Nd:YAG laser is realized by using Co2+:LaMgAl11O19 (Co:LMA) as saturable absorber. When initial transmission of the saturable absorber T0 is 78%, a Q-switched output pulse with pulse width (FWHM) 44.8 ns and pulse energy 17.4 mJ is obtained, corresponding to 19.3% of the free-running energy under the equal pumping energy of 45.4 J. The experimental results show that the higher T0 will result in a lower pumping threshold of the laser, but lower T0 can make the laser generate pulses with higher single-pulse energy, narrower pulse width, and accordingly higher peak power.  相似文献

A high power diode-end-pumped passively Q-switched and mode-locking (QML) Nd:GdVO4 laser at 912 nm was demonstrated for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. A Z-type laser cavity with Cr4+:YAG crystals as the intracavity saturable absorber were employed in the experiments. Influence of the initial transmission (TU) of the saturable absorber on the QML laser performance was investigated. Using the TU = 95% Cr4+:YAG, as much as an average output power of 2.0 W pulsed 912 nm laser was produced at an absorbed pump power of 25.0 W, then the repetition rates of the Q-switched envelope and the mode-locking pulse were ~ 224 kHz and ~ 160 MHz, respectively. Whereas the maximum output power was reduced to 1.3 W using the TU = 90% Cr4+:YAG, we obtained a 100% modulation depth for the mode-locking pulses inside the Q-switched envelope.  相似文献

By using both acousto-optic (AO) modulator and GaAs saturable absorber, a diode-pumped doubly Q-switched and mode-locked (QML) YVO4/Nd:YVO4 laser is presented. The average output power and the pulse width of the Q-switched envelope have been measured. The Q-switch pulse energy of the doubly QML laser are higher than that only with GaAs. The stability of the QML laser with the dual-loss-modulation is significantly improved if compared to that only with GaAs.The experimental results show that the doubly QML YVO4/Nd:YVO4 laser has nearly 80% modulation depth and deeper than that of the singly passively QML pulse. The doubly Q-switched mode-locked pulse inside the Q-switched envelope has a repetition rate of 111 MHz and its pulse width is estimated to be about 700 ps. By using a hyperbolic secant square function and considering the Gaussian distribution of the intracavity photon density, the coupled equations for diode-pumped dual-loss-modulated QML laser is given and the numerical solutions of the equations are in good agreement with the experimental results.  相似文献

By simultaneously using both active and passive Q-switches in the same cavity, a diode-pumped doubly Q-switched intracavity-frequency-doubled c-cut Nd:GdVO4/KTP green laser with acoustic-optic (AO) modulator and GaAs semiconductor saturable absorber is realized. A comparison between c-cut and a-cut Nd:GdVO4 crystals shows that the doubly Q-switched c-cut Nd:GdVO4/KTP green laser can generate narrower pulse and higher peak power when the incident pump power is higher than 4.4 W. In addition, the doubly Q-switched c-cut Nd:GdVO4/KTP green laser can generate more symmetric and shorter pulse in comparison with singly AO- or GaAs-Q-switched laser. The coupled rate equations are used to simulate the process of these lasers.  相似文献

A laser diode directly end-pumped, passively Q-switched Nd:YVO4/Cr:YAG laser is presented in this paper. With 600 mW incident pump laser, Q-switched 1064 nm laser with an average power of 138 mW, pulse width of 19.8 ns, repetition rate of 170.1 kHz and peak power of 40.96 W is obtained. When a KTP crystal was inserted into the cavity, Q-switched 532 nm laser with an average power of 56 mW, pulse width of 28.4 ns, repetition rate of 118.2 kHz and peak power of 16.7 W is obtained at last.  相似文献

LD-pumped actively Q-switched intracavity frequency-doubled Nd:GdVO4/KTP red laser has been introduced. A maximum red average output power of 0.78 W at 671 nm was obtained at pulse-repetition frequency (PRF) of 15 kHz and the optical conversion efficiency was 6.5%. At the incident pump power of 12 W, the shortest laser pulse occurred at PRF of 15 kHz. Its full-width at half-maximum and the highest peak power were measured to be 35.8 ns and 3.38 kW. The largest single pulse energy of 56.3 μJ was achieved at PRF of 10 kHz. The influence factors on the Q-switched Nd:GdVO4/KTP red laser have been discussed.  相似文献

In the experiment, we have demonstrated the performance of a laser-diode, end-pumped, doubly Q-switched YVO4/Nd:YVO4 laser with both a BBO electric-optic (EO) Q-switch and Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber. At a maximum incident pump power of 15 W and an EO Q-switch repetition rate of 8 kHz, the stable laser pulses with the pulse duration 5.28 ns, the single pulse energy 0.14 mJ, and the pulse peak power 26 kW are obtained. The experimental results show that the double Q-switched laser with EO and Cr4+:YAG can generate the shorter pulse and the higher peak power in comparison to singly Q-switched laser with EO.  相似文献

We have demonstrated a passively Q-switched and mode-locked Nd:YVO4 laser with an intracavity composite semiconductor saturable absorber (ICSSA). Stable Q-switched and mode-locked pulses with Q-switched envelope pulse duration of 180 ns and pulse repetition rate of 72 KHz have been obtained. The maximum average output power was 1.45 W at 8 W incident pump power. The repetition rate of the mode-locked pulses inside the Q-switched envelope was 154 MHz. Experimental results revealed that this ICSSA was suitable for Q-switched and mode-locked solid-state lasers.  相似文献

We demonstrated an efficient and compact, diode-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:YVO4 laser operation at 1.064 μm wavelength with high repetition rate, using Cr4+:YAG as saturable absorber, formed with a simple flat–flat resonator. The maximum CW output power of 4.05 W was obtained at the incident pump power of 8 W. For Q-switched operation, the maximum average output power was measured to be 1.4 W with the corresponding repetition rate of 200 kHz, the pulse width of 60 ns when the initial transmission of Cr4+:YAG crystal was 85%. The shortest pulse width of 12 ns, the largest pulse energy of 36 μJ and the highest peak power of 3 kW were obtained when the Cr4+:YAG crystal with an initial transmission of 60% was used.  相似文献

We report on a diode pumped passively Q-switched Nd:Gd0.64Y0.36VO4 laser with a Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber. We show experimentally that by using an appropriately coated GaAs wafer as output coupler, the Q-switched pulse width can be significantly suppressed. Stable Q-switched pulse train with pulse width of 2.2 ns, peak power of 26.3 kW, repetition rate of 15.38 kHz have been obtained under an absorbed pump power of 8.54 W. The physical mechanism of pulse width narrowing by the GaAs wafer was also experimentally investigated.  相似文献

A diode-pumped doubly Q-switched c-cut Nd:GdVO4 laser at 1.34 μm with acousto-optic (AO) modulator and V3+:YAG saturable absorber is demonstrated. This doubly Q-switched laser can generate shorter pulse width and higher peak power than the singly Q-switched laser only with an AO modulator or a V3+:YAG saturable absorber. By considering the thermal lens effect of the laser gain medium, the coupled rate equations for the doubly Q-switched laser at 1.34 μm under Gaussian approximation are given. A diode-pumped passively Q-switched and mode-locked Nd:GdVO4 laser at 1.34 μm with V3+:YAG as the saturable absorber is realized in a V-type folded cavity. About 100% modulation depth of mode locking can be obtained as long as the pump power reaches the oscillation threshold. The width of the mode-locked pulse is estimated to be less than 280 ps with 200 MHz repetition rate within an about 980 ns-long Q-switched pulse envelope. A maximum output power of 200 mW and Q-switched pulse energy of 5.7 μJ is obtained.  相似文献

We present a simple technique to improve the symmetry of pulse emitted by doubly passively Q-switched lasers. Using both Cr4+:YAG and GaAs saturable absorbers in the same cavity, a diode-pumped doubly passively Q-switched Nd:YVO4 laser is realized for the fist time. This laser can generate more symmetric pulse with shorter pulse width and higher peak power compared with the solely passively Q-switched laser with Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber or GaAs coupler. The pulse symmetry factor ε of such a doubly passively Q-switched laser is experimentally shown to reach 1.05. A diode end-pumped passively Q-switched Nd: Y0.8Lu0.2VO4 laser with a Cr4+: YAG crystal is first demonstrated in this paper. The maximum continuous wave (CW) output power of 5.59 W is obtained at the incident pump power of 13.07 W with the output transmission T = 20%, resulting in an optical-to-optical efficiency of 42.7%. For Q-switching operation, the measured pulse duration of 8.5 ns, the pulse energy of 45.24 μJ and the peak power of 5.32 kW are respectively obtained for the output transmission of 50% when the Cr4+: YAG crystal is used with an initial transmission (T0) of 60%.  相似文献
