Summary By using coupling methods, some lower bounds are obtained for the first Neumann eigenvalue on Riemannian manifolds. This method is new and the results improve some known estimates. We obtain some sharp estimates on the first eigenvalues of complete noncompact Riemannian manifolds under assumptions of volume growth. Using these estimates we study hypersurfaces with constant mean curvature and give some estimates on the mean curvatures.

We prove some sharp isoperimetric type inequalities in warped product manifolds, or more generally, multiply warped product manifolds. We also relate them to inequalities involving the higher order mean-curvature integrals. Applications include some sharp eigenvalue estimates, Pólya-Szegö inequality, Faber-Krahn inequality, Sobolev inequality and some sharp geometric inequalities in some warped product spaces.  相似文献

In this paper,we characterize the sharp boundedness of the one-sided fractional maximal function for one-weight and two-weight inequalities.Also a new two-weight testing condition for the one-sided fractional maximal function is introduced extending the work of Martín-Reyes and de la Torre.Improving some extrapolation result for the one-sided case,we get weak sharp bounded estimates for one-sided fractional maximal function and weak and strong sharp bounded estimates for one-sided fractional integral.  相似文献

We prove a sharp three sphere inequality for solutions to third order perturbations of a product of two second order elliptic operators with real coefficients. Then we derive various kinds of quantitative estimates of unique continuation for the anisotropic plate equation. Among these, we prove a stability estimate for the Cauchy problem for such an equation and we illustrate some applications to the size estimates of an unknown inclusion made of different material that might be present in the plate. The paper is self-contained and the Carleman estimate, from which the sharp three sphere inequality is derived, is proved in an elementary and direct way based on standard integration by parts.  相似文献

We show sharp local a priori estimates and regularity results for possibly degenerate non-linear elliptic problems, with data not lying in the natural dual space. We provide a precise non-linear potential theoretic analog of classical potential theory results due to Adams (Duke Math J 42:765–778, 1975) and Adams and Lewis (Studia Math 74:169–182, 1982), concerning Morrey spaces imbedding/regularity properties. For this we introduce a technique allowing for a “non-local representation” of solutions via Riesz potentials, in turn yielding optimal local estimates simultaneously in both rearrangement and non-rearrangement invariant function spaces. In fact we also derive sharp estimates in Lorentz spaces, covering borderline cases which remained open for some while.  相似文献

Ten sharp lower estimates of the first non-trivial eigenvalue of Laplacian on compact Riemannian manifolds are reviewed and compared. An improved variational formula, a general common estimate, and a new sharp one are added. The best lower estimates are now updated. In this paper, we consider the class of uniformly locally univalent harmonic mappings in the unit disk and build a relationship between its pre-Schwarzian norm and uniformly hyperbolic radius. Also, we establish eight ways of characterizing uniformly locally univalent sense-preserving harmonic mappings. We establish sharp estimates for the best approximations of convolution classes by entire functions of exponential type. To obtain these estimates, we propose a new method for testing Nikol’ski?-type conditions which is based on kernel periodization with an arbitrarily large period and ensuing passage to the limit. As particular cases, we obtain sharp estimates for approximation of convolution classes with variation diminishing kernels and generalized Bernoulli and Poisson kernels.  相似文献

In this paper, we are concerned with convexity estimates for solutions of a class of semi-linear elliptic equations involving the Laplacian with power-type nonlinearities. We consider auxiliary curvature functions which attain their minimum values on the boundary and then establish lower bound convexity estimates for the solutions. Then we give two applications of these convexity estimates. We use the deformation method to prove a theorem concerning the strictly power concavity properties of the smooth solutions to these semi-linear elliptic equations. Finally, we give a sharp lower bound estimate of the Gaussian curvature for the solution surface of some specific equation by the curvatures of the domain's boundary.  相似文献
