We prove well-posedness of global solutions for a class of coagulation equations which exhibit the gelation phase transition. To this end, we solve an associated partial differential equation involving the generating functions before and after the phase transition. Applications include the classical Smoluchowski and Flory equations with multiplicative coagulation rate and the recently introduced symmetric model with limited aggregations. For the latter, we compute the limiting concentrations and we relate them to random graph models.  相似文献

We introduce the concept of “stabilization by rotation” for deterministic linear systems with negative trace. This concept encompasses the well-known concept of “vibrational stabilization” introduced by Meerkov in the 1970s and is a deterministic version of ‘stabilization by noise’ for stochastic systems as introduced by Arnold and coworkers in the 1980s. It is shown that a linear system with negative trace can be stabilized by adding a skew-symmetric matrix, multiplied by a suitable scalar so-called “gain function” (possibly a constant) which is sufficiently large. To overcome the problem of what is “sufficiently large”, we also present a servo mechanism which tunes the gain function by learning from the trajectory until finally the trajectory tends to zero. This approach allows to show that one of Meerkov's assumptions for vibrational stabilization is superfluous. Moreover, while Meerkov as well as Arnold and coworkers assume that a stabilizing periodic function or the noise has sufficiently large frequency and amplitude, we also provide a servo mechanism to determine this function dynamically in a deterministic setup.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to prove two unexpected properties of the Abel equation dz/dt=z3+B(t)z2+C(t)z, where B and C are smooth, 2π-periodic complex valuated functions, tR and zC. The first one is that there is no upper bound for its number of isolated 2π-periodic solutions. In contrast, recall that if the functions B and C are real valuated then the number of complex 2π-periodic solutions is at most three. The second property is that there are examples of the above equation with B and C being low degree trigonometric polynomials such that the center variety is formed by infinitely many connected components in the space of coefficients of B and C. This result is also in contrast with the characterization of the center variety for the examples of Abel equations dz/dt=A(t)z3+B(t)z2 studied in the literature, where the center variety is located in a finite number of connected components.  相似文献

A two-point boundary value problem associated to a semilinear multivalued evolution equation is investigated, in reflexive and separable Banach spaces. To this aim, an original method is proposed based on the use of weak topologies and on a suitable continuation principle in Fréchet spaces. Lyapunov-like functions are introduced, for proving the required transversality condition. The linear part can also depend on the state variable x and the discussion comprises the cases of a nonlinearity with sublinear growth in x or of a noncompact valued one. Some applications are given, to the study of periodic and Floquet boundary value problems of partial integro-differential equations and inclusions appearing in dispersal population models. Comparisons are included, with recent related achievements.  相似文献

In this paper, we make a complete study on small perturbations of Hamiltonian vector field with a hyper-elliptic Hamiltonian of degree five, which is a Liénard system of the form x=y, y=Q1(x)+εyQ2(x) with Q1 and Q2 polynomials of degree respectively 4 and 3. It is shown that this system can undergo degenerated Hopf bifurcation and Poincaré bifurcation, which emerges at most three limit cycles in the plane for sufficiently small positive ε. And the limit cycles can encompass only an equilibrium inside, i.e. the configuration (3,0) of limit cycles can appear for some values of parameters, where (3,0) stands for three limit cycles surrounding an equilibrium and no limit cycles surrounding two equilibria.  相似文献

We study a particular class of autonomous Differential-Algebraic Equations that are equivalent to Ordinary Differential Equations on manifolds. Under appropriate assumptions we determine a straightforward formula for the computation of the degree of the associated tangent vector field that does not require any explicit knowledge of the manifold. We use this formula to study the set of harmonic solutions to periodic perturbations of our equations. Two different classes of applications are provided.  相似文献

We show that every finite configuration of disjoint simple closed curves in the plane is topologically realizable as the set of limit cycles of a polynomial Liénard equation. The related vector field X is Morse–Smale. Moreover it has the minimum number of singularities required for realizing the configuration in a Liénard equation. We provide an explicit upper bound on the degree of X, which is lower than the results obtained before, obtained in the context of general polynomial vector fields.  相似文献

In this paper two existence results concerning the global attractivity and global asymptotic attractivity for a certain functional nonlinear integral equation are proved. Our existence results include several existence as well as attractivity results obtained earlier by Banas and Dhage (2008) [1], Hu and Yan (2006) [3], Dhage (2009) [15] and Banas and Rzepka (2003) [7] as special cases under some weaker Lipschitz conditions. A measure theoretic fixed point theorem of Dhage (2008) [6] is used in formulating our main results and the characterizations of solutions are obtained in the space of functions defined, continuous and bounded on unbounded intervals.  相似文献

We study several properties of invariant measures obtained from preimages, for non-invertible maps on fractal sets which model non-reversible dynamical systems. We give two ways to describe the distribution of all preimages for endomorphisms which are not necessarily expanding on a basic set Λ. We give a topological dynamics condition which guarantees that the corresponding measures converge to a unique conformal ergodic borelian measure; this helps in estimating the unstable dimension a.e. with respect to this measure with the help of Lyapunov exponents. When there exist negative Lyapunov exponents of this limit measure, we study the conditional probabilities induced on the non-uniform local stable manifolds by the limit measure, and also its pointwise dimension on stable manifolds.  相似文献
