The dynamics of functions \(f_\lambda (z)= \lambda \frac{\mathrm{e}^{z}}{z+1}\ \text{ for }\ z\in \mathbb {C}, \lambda >0\) is studied showing that there exists \(\lambda ^* > 0\) such that the Julia set of \(f_\lambda \) is disconnected for \(0< \lambda < \lambda ^*\) whereas it is the whole Riemann sphere for \(\lambda > \lambda ^*\). Further, for \(0< \lambda < \lambda ^*\), the Julia set is a disjoint union of two topologically and dynamically distinct completely invariant subsets, one of which is totally disconnected. The union of the escaping set and the backward orbit of \(\infty \) is shown to be disconnected for \(0<\lambda < \lambda ^*\) whereas it is connected for \(\lambda > \lambda ^*\). For complex \(\lambda \), it is proved that either all multiply connected Fatou components ultimately land on an attracting or parabolic domain containing the omitted value of the function or the Julia set is connected. In the latter case, the Fatou set can be empty or consists of Siegel disks. All these possibilities are shown to occur for suitable parameters. Meromorphic functions \(E_n(z) =\mathrm{e}^{z}(1+z+\frac{z^2}{2!}+\cdots +\frac{z^n}{n!})^{-1}\), which we call exponential-like, are studied as a generalization of \(f(z)=\frac{\mathrm{e}^{z}}{z+1}\) which is nothing but \(E_1(z)\). This name is justified by showing that \(E_n\) has an omitted value 0 and there are no other finite singular value. In fact, it is shown that there is only one singularity over 0 as well as over \(\infty \) and both are direct. Non-existence of Herman rings are proved for \(\lambda E_n \).  相似文献

Let \((M,g)\) be a two dimensional compact Riemannian manifold of genus \(g(M)>1\). Let \(f\) be a smooth function on \(M\) such that
$$\begin{aligned} f \ge 0, \quad f\not \equiv 0, \quad \min _M f = 0. \end{aligned}$$
Let \(p_1,\ldots ,p_n\) be any set of points at which \(f(p_i)=0\) and \(D^2f(p_i)\) is non-singular. We prove that for all sufficiently small \(\lambda >0\) there exists a family of “bubbling” conformal metrics \(g_\lambda =e^{u_\lambda }g\) such that their Gauss curvature is given by the sign-changing function \(K_{g_\lambda }=-f+\lambda ^2\). Moreover, the family \(u_\lambda \) satisfies
$$\begin{aligned} u_\lambda (p_j) = -4\log \lambda -2\log \left( \frac{1}{\sqrt{2}} \log \frac{1}{\lambda }\right) +O(1) \end{aligned}$$
and
$$\begin{aligned} \lambda ^2e^{u_\lambda }\rightharpoonup 8\pi \sum _{i=1}^{n}\delta _{p_i},\quad \text{ as } \lambda \rightarrow 0, \end{aligned}$$
where \(\delta _{p}\) designates Dirac mass at the point \(p\).

Let A be a Banach algebra with a bounded left approximate identity \(\{e_\lambda \}_{\lambda \in \Lambda }\), let \(\pi \) be a continuous representation of A on a Banach space X, and let S be a non-empty subset of X such that \(\lim _{\lambda }\pi (e_\lambda )s=s\) uniformly on S. If S is bounded, or if \(\{e_\lambda \}_{\lambda \in \Lambda }\) is commutative, then we show that there exist \(a\in A\) and maps \(x_n: S\rightarrow X\) for \(n\ge 1\) such that \(s=\pi (a^n)x_n(s)\) for all \(n\ge 1\) and \(s\in S\). The properties of \(a\in A\) and the maps \(x_n\), as produced by the constructive proof, are studied in some detail. The results generalize previous simultaneous factorization theorems as well as Allan and Sinclair’s power factorization theorem. In an ordered context, we also consider the existence of a positive factorization for a subset of the positive cone of an ordered Banach space that is a positive module over an ordered Banach algebra with a positive bounded left approximate identity. Such factorizations are not always possible. In certain cases, including those for positive modules over ordered Banach algebras of bounded functions, such positive factorizations exist, but the general picture is still unclear. Furthermore, simultaneous pointwise power factorizations for sets of bounded maps with values in a Banach module (such as sets of bounded convergent nets) are obtained. A worked example for the left regular representation of \(\mathrm {C}_0({\mathbb R})\) and unbounded S is included.  相似文献

Let \( {\left( {{\epsilon_i}} \right)_{i \in \mathbb{Z}}} \) be i.i.d. random elements in a separable Banach space \( \mathbb{E} \), and let \( \mathop {\left( {{a_i}} \right)}\nolimits_{i \in \mathbb{Z}} \) be continuous linear operators from \( \mathbb{E} \) to a Banach space \( \mathbb{F} \) such that \( \sum\nolimits_{i \in \mathbb{Z}} {\left\| {{a_i}} \right\|} \) is finite. We prove that the linear process \( \mathop {\left( {{X_n}} \right)}\nolimits_{n \in \mathbb{Z}} \) defined by \( {X_n}: = \sum\nolimits_{i \in \mathbb{Z}} {{a_i}} \left( {{\epsilon_{n - i}}} \right) \) inherits from \( \mathop {\left( {{\epsilon_i}} \right)}\nolimits_{i \in \mathbb{Z}} \) the central limit theorem and functional central limit theorems in various Banach spaces of \( \mathbb{F} \)-valued functions, including Hölder spaces.  相似文献

Ordered vector spaces E and F are said to be order isomorphic if there is a (not necessarily linear) bijection \(T: E\rightarrow F\) such that \(x\ge y\) if and only if \(Tx \ge Ty\) for all \(x,y \in E\). We investigate some situations under which an order isomorphism between two Banach lattices implies the persistence of some linear lattice structure. For instance, it is shown that if a Banach lattice E is order isomorphic to C(K) for some compact Hausdorff space K, then E is (linearly) isomorphic to C(K) as a Banach lattice. Similar results hold for Banach lattices order isomorphic to \(c_{0}\), and for Banach lattices that contain a closed sublattice order isomorphic to \(c_{0}\).  相似文献

In this paper, we compare James and von Neumann–Jordan constants of normed spaces under certain conditions. It is shown that if a normed space with James constant \(\sqrt{2}\) is three- or more dimensional, or is a \(\pi /2\)-rotation-invariant two-dimensional space, then its von Neumann–Jordan constant is less than or equal to \(4-2\sqrt{2}\).  相似文献

We extend previous work on standard two-parameter Jordan partitions by Barry (Commun Algebra 43:4231–4246, 2015) to three parameters. Let \(J_r\) denote an \(r \times r\) matrix with minimal polynomial \((t-1)^r\) over a field F of characteristic p. For positive integers \(n_1\), \(n_2\), and \(n_3\) satisfying \(n_1 \le n_2 \le n_3\), the Jordan canonical form of the \(n_1 n_2 n_3 \times n_1 n_2 n_3\) matrix \(J_{n_1} \otimes J_{n_2} \otimes J_{n_3}\) has the form \(J_{\lambda _1} \oplus J_{\lambda _2} \oplus \cdots \oplus J_{\lambda _m}\) where \(\lambda _1 \ge \lambda _2 \ge \cdots \ge \lambda _m>0\) and \(\sum _{i=1}^m \lambda _i=n_1 n_2 n_3\). The partition \(\lambda (n_1,n_2,n_3:p)=(\lambda _1, \lambda _2,\ldots , \lambda _m)\) of \(n_1 n_2 n_3\), which depends on \(n_1\), \(n_2\), \(n_3\), and p, will be called a Jordan partition. We will define what we mean by a standard Jordan partition and give necessary and sufficient conditions for its existence.  相似文献

We study the discrete spectrum of the Robin Laplacian \(Q^{\Omega }_\alpha \) in \(L^2(\Omega )\), \(u\mapsto -\Delta u, \quad D_n u=\alpha u \text { on }\partial \Omega \), where \(D_n\) is the outer unit normal derivative and \(\Omega \subset {\mathbb {R}}^{3}\) is a conical domain with a regular cross-section \(\Theta \subset {\mathbb {S}}^2\), n is the outer unit normal, and \(\alpha >0\) is a fixed constant. It is known from previous papers that the bottom of the essential spectrum of \(Q^{\Omega }_\alpha \) is \(-\alpha ^2\) and that the finiteness of the discrete spectrum depends on the geometry of the cross-section. We show that the accumulation of the discrete spectrum of \(Q^\Omega _\alpha \) is determined by the discrete spectrum of an effective Hamiltonian defined on the boundary and far from the origin. By studying this model operator, we prove that the number of eigenvalues of \(Q^{\Omega }_\alpha \) in \((-\infty ,-\alpha ^2-\lambda )\), with \(\lambda >0\), behaves for \(\lambda \rightarrow 0\) as
$$\begin{aligned} \dfrac{\alpha ^2}{8\pi \lambda } \int _{\partial \Theta } \kappa _+(s)^2\mathrm {d}s +o\left( \frac{1}{\lambda }\right) , \end{aligned}$$
where \(\kappa _+\) is the positive part of the geodesic curvature of the cross-section boundary.

Let a sequence \(\Lambda \subset {\mathbb {C}}\) be such that the corresponding system of exponential functions \({\mathcal {E}}(\Lambda ):=\left\{ {\text {e}}^{i\lambda t}\right\} _{\lambda \in \Lambda }\) is complete and minimal in \(L^2(-\pi ,\pi )\), and thus each function \(f\in L^2(-\pi ,\pi )\) corresponds to a nonharmonic Fourier series in \({\mathcal {E}}(\Lambda )\). We prove that if the generating function \(G\) of \(\Lambda \) satisfies the Muckenhoupt \((A_2)\) condition on \({\mathbb {R}}\), then this series admits a linear summation method. Recent results show that the \((A_2)\) condition cannot be omitted.  相似文献

Let \(k\ge 1\) and \(n_1,\ldots ,n_k\ge 1\) be some integers. Let \(S(n_1,\ldots ,n_k)\) be a tree T such that T has a vertex v of degree k and \(T{\setminus } v\) is the disjoint union of the paths \(P_{n_1},\ldots ,P_{n_k}\), that is \(T{\setminus } v\cong P_{n_1}\cup \cdots \cup P_{n_k}\) so that every neighbor of v in T has degree one or two. The tree \(S(n_1,\ldots ,n_k)\) is called starlike tree, a tree with exactly one vertex of degree greater than two, if \(k\ge 3\). In this paper we obtain the eigenvalues of starlike trees. We find some bounds for the largest eigenvalue (for the spectral radius) of starlike trees. In particular we prove that if \(k\ge 4\) and \(n_1,\ldots ,n_k\ge 2\), then \(\frac{k-1}{\sqrt{k-2}}<\lambda _1(S(n_1,\ldots ,n_k))<\frac{k}{\sqrt{k-1}}\), where \(\lambda _1(T)\) is the largest eigenvalue of T. Finally we characterize all starlike trees that all of whose eigenvalues are in the interval \((-2,2)\).  相似文献

A generalized strong external difference family (briefly \((v, m; k_1,\dots ,k_m; \lambda _1,\dots ,\lambda _m)\)-GSEDF) was introduced by Paterson and Stinson in 2016. In this paper, we give some nonexistence results for GSEDFs. In particular, we prove that a \((v, 3;k_1,k_2,k_3; \lambda _1,\lambda _2,\lambda _3)\)-GSEDF does not exist when \(k_1+k_2+k_3< v\). We also give a first recursive construction for GSEDFs and prove that if there is a \((v,2;2\lambda ,\frac{v-1}{2};\lambda ,\lambda )\)-GSEDF, then there is a \((vt,2;4\lambda ,\frac{vt-1}{2};2\lambda ,2\lambda )\)-GSEDF with \(v>1\), \(t>1\) and \(v\equiv t\equiv 1\pmod 2\). Then we use it to obtain some new GSEDFs for \(m=2\). In particular, for any prime power q with \(q\equiv 1\pmod 4\), we show that there exists a \((qt, 2;(q-1)2^{n-1},\frac{qt-1}{2};(q-1)2^{n-2},(q-1)2^{n-2})\)-GSEDF, where \(t=p_1p_2\dots p_n\), \(p_i>1\), \(1\le i\le n\), \(p_1, p_2,\dots ,p_n\) are odd integers.  相似文献

Let \(\mu \) and \(\nu \) be measures supported on \(\left( -1,1\right) \) with corresponding orthonormal polynomials \(\left\{ p_{n}^{\mu }\right\} \) and \( \left\{ p_{n}^{\nu }\right\} \), respectively. Define the mixed kernel
$$\begin{aligned} K_{n}^{{\mu },\nu }\left( x,y\right) =\sum _{j=0}^{n-1}p_{j}^{\mu }\left( x\right) p_{j}^{\nu }\left( y\right) . \end{aligned}$$
We establish scaling limits such as
$$\begin{aligned}&\lim _{n\rightarrow \infty }\frac{\pi \sqrt{1-\xi ^{2}}\sqrt{\mu ^{\prime }\left( \xi \right) \nu ^{\prime }\left( \xi \right) }}{n}K_{n}^{\mu ,\nu }\left( \xi +\frac{a\pi \sqrt{1-\xi ^{2}}}{n},\xi +\frac{b\pi \sqrt{1-\xi ^{2}}}{n}\right) \\&\quad =S\left( \frac{\pi \left( a-b\right) }{2}\right) \cos \left( \frac{\pi \left( a-b\right) }{2}+B\left( \xi \right) \right) , \end{aligned}$$
where \(S\left( t\right) =\frac{\sin t}{t}\) is the sinc kernel, and \(B\left( \xi \right) \) depends on \({\mu },\nu \) and \(\xi \). This reduces to the classical universality limit in the bulk when \(\mu =\nu \). We deduce applications to the zero distribution of \(K_{n}^{{\mu },\nu }\), and asymptotics for its derivatives.

Let \(\Delta = \sum _{m=0}^\infty q^{(2m+1)^2} \in \mathbf {F}_2[[q]]\) be the reduction mod 2 of the \(\Delta \) series. A modular form of level 1, \(f=\sum _{n\geqslant 0} c(n) \,q^n\), with integer coefficients, is congruent modulo \(2\) to a polynomial in \(\Delta \). Let us set \(W_f(x)=\sum _{n\leqslant x,\ c(n)\text { odd }} 1\), the number of odd Fourier coefficients of \(f\) of index \(\leqslant x\). The order of magnitude of \(W_f(x)\) (for \(x\rightarrow \infty \)) has been determined by Serre in the seventies. Here, we give an asymptotic equivalent for \(W_f(x)\). Let \(p(n)\) be the partition function and \(A_0(x)\) (resp. \(A_1(x)\)) be the number of \(n\leqslant x\) such that \(p(n)\) is even (resp. odd). In the preceding papers, the second-named author has shown that \(A_0(x)\geqslant 0.28 \sqrt{x\;\log \log x}\) for \(x\geqslant 3\) and \(A_1(x)>\frac{4.57 \sqrt{x}}{\log x}\) for \(x\geqslant 7\). Here, it is proved that \(A_0(x)\geqslant 0.069 \sqrt{x}\;\log \log x\) holds for \(x>1\) and that \(A_1(x) \geqslant \frac{0.037 \sqrt{x}}{(\log x)^{7/8}}\) holds for \(x\geqslant 2\). The main tools used to prove these results are the determination of the order of nilpotence of a modular form of level-\(1\) modulo \(2\), and of the structure of the space of those modular forms as a module over the Hecke algebra, which have been given in a recent work of Serre and the second-named author.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the Hyers–Ulam stability of the differential operators \(T_\lambda \) and D on the weighted Hardy spaces \(H_\beta ^2\) with the reproducing property. We obtain a necessary and sufficient condition in order that D is stable on \(H_\beta ^2\), and construct an example concerning the stability of \(T_\lambda \) on \(H_\beta ^2\). Moreover, we also investigate the Hyers–Ulam stability of the partial differential operators \(D_i\) on the several variables reproducing kernel space \(H_f^2(\mathbb {B}_d)\).  相似文献

In this paper, we find a polynomial-type Jost solution of a self-adjoint \(q\)-difference equation of second order. Then we investigate the analytical properties and asymptotic behavior of the Jost solution. We prove that the self-adjoint operator \(L\) generated by the \(q\)-difference expression of second order has essential spectrum filling the segment \([-2\sqrt{q},2\sqrt{q}]\), \(q>1\). Finally, we examine the properties of the eigenvalues of \(L\).  相似文献

Let m be a positive integer \(\ge \)3 and \(\lambda =2\cos \frac{\pi }{m}\). The Hecke group \(\mathfrak {G}(\lambda )\) is generated by the fractional linear transformations \(\tau + \lambda \) and \(-\frac{1}{\tau }\) for \(\tau \) in the upper half plane \(\mathbb H\) of the complex plane \(\mathbb C\). We consider a set of functions \(\mathfrak {f}_0, \mathfrak {f}_i\) and \(\mathfrak {f}_{\infty }\) automorphic with respect to \(\mathfrak {G}(\lambda )\), constructed from the conformal mapping of the fundamental domain of \(\mathfrak {G}(\lambda )\) to the upper half plane \(\mathbb H\), and establish their connection with the Legendre functions and a class of hyper-elliptic functions. Many well-known classical identities associated with the cases of \(\lambda =1\) and 2 are preserved. As an application, we will establish a set of identities expressing the reciprocal of \(\pi \) in terms of the hypergeometric series.  相似文献

Let k be an integer with \(k\ge 3\) and \(\eta \) be any real number. Suppose that \(\lambda _1, \lambda _2, \lambda _3, \lambda _4, \mu \) are non-zero real numbers, not all of the same sign and \(\lambda _1/\lambda _2\) is irrational. It is proved that the inequality \(|\lambda _1p_1^2+\lambda _2p_2^2+\lambda _3p_3^2+\lambda _4p_4^2+\mu p_5^k+\eta |<(\max \ p_j)^{-\sigma }\) has infinitely many solutions in prime variables \(p_1, p_2, \ldots , p_5\), where \(0<\sigma <\frac{1}{16}\) for \(k=3,\ 0<\sigma <\frac{5}{3k2^k}\) for \(4\le k\le 5\) and \(0<\sigma <\frac{40}{21k2^k}\) for \(k\ge 6\). For a non-negative integer \(n\), let \(E_n\) be the \(n\) th Euler number. In this note, for any positive integer \(n\), we prove the following congruences:
$$\begin{aligned} {\left\{ \begin{array}{ll} E_{4n} \equiv 380n-375 \pmod {10^3}, \\ E_{4n+2} \equiv -460n+399 \pmod {10^3}. \end{array}\right. } \end{aligned}$$
Our proof is based on induction on \(n\) and elementary direct calculations.
