A solution is presented to the problem of the laminar flow of a heat-transfer vapor in an annular channel of constant cross section in the presence of a liquid film on the outer wall and heating through the inner wall of the channel. The results of test calculations for water vapor are given. The obtained results are analyzed, and it is shown that they make it possible to establish a number of characteristic features of the process, in particular, the possible existence of a self-similar solution.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 3, pp. 143–146, May–June, 1981.  相似文献

Experimental studies on the turbulence modification in annular two-phase flow passing through a throat section were carried out. The turbulence modification in multi-phase flow due to the interactions between two-phases is one of the most interesting scientific issues and has attracted research attention. In this study, the gas-phase turbulence modification in annular flow due to the gas–liquid phase interaction is experimentally investigated. The annular flow passing through a throat section is under the transient state due to the changing cross sectional area of the channel and resultantly the superficial velocities of both phases are changed compared with a fully developed flow in a straight pipe. The measurements for the gas-phase turbulence were precisely performed by using a constant temperature hot-wire anemometer, and made clear the turbulence structure such as velocity profiles, fluctuation velocity profiles. The behavior of the interfacial waves in the liquid film flow such as the ripple or disturbance waves was also observed. The measurements for the liquid film thickness by the electrode needle method were also performed to measure the base film thickness, mean film thickness, maximum film thickness and wave height of the ripple or the disturbance waves.  相似文献

The multiphase heat transfer could be enhanced by creating thin liquid film on the wall. The phase separation concept is called due to the separated flow paths of liquid and gas over the tube cross section to yield thin liquid film. Our proposed heat transfer tube consists of an annular region close to the wall and a core region, interfaced by a suspending mesh cylinder in the tube. The heat transfer tube is a multiscale system with micron scale of mesh pores, miniature scale of annular region and macroscale of tube diameter and length. Great effort has been made to link from micron scale to macroscale. The Volume of Fluid (VOF) method simulates air/water two-phase flow for vertical upflow. The three-dimensional system was successfully converted to a two-dimensional one by using three equivalent criteria for mesh pores. The non-uniform base grid generation and dynamic grid adaption method capture the bubble interface. The numerical results successfully reproduce our experimental results. The numerical findings identify the following mechanisms for the enhanced heat transfer: (a) counter-current flow exists with upward flow in the annular region and downward flow in the core region; (b) void fractions are exact zero in the core region and higher in the annular region; (c) the liquid film thicknesses are decreased to 1/6–1/3 of those in the bare tube section; (d) the gas–liquid mixture travels much faster in the annular region than in the bare tube; (e) three-levels of liquid circulation exists: meter-scale bulk liquid circulation, moderate-scale liquid circulation around a single-elongated-ring-slug-bubble, and microliquid circulation following the ring-slug-bubble tails. These liquid circulations promote the fluid mixing over the whole tube length and within the radial direction. The modulated parameters of void fractions, velocities and liquid film thicknesses in the annular region and three-levels of liquid circulation are greatly beneficial for the multiphase heat transfer enhancement.  相似文献

Prediction of amount of entrained droplets or entrainment fraction in annular two-phase flow is essential for the estimation of dryout condition and analysis of post dryout heat transfer in light water nuclear reactors and steam boilers. In this study, air–water and organic fluid (Freon-113) annular flow entrainment experiments have been carried out in 9.4 and 10.2 mm diameter test sections, respectively. Both the experiments covered three distinct pressure conditions and wide range of liquid and gas flow conditions. The organic fluid experiments simulated high pressure steam–water annular flow conditions. In each experiment, measurements of entrainment fraction, droplet entrainment rate and droplet deposition rate have been performed by using the liquid film extraction method. A simple, explicit and non-dimensional correlation developed by Sawant [Sawant, P.H., Ishii, M., Mori, M., 2008. Droplet entrainment correlation in vertical upward co-current annular two-phase flow. Nucl. Eng. Des. 238 (6), 1342–1352] for the prediction of entrainment fraction is further improved in this study in order to account for the existence of critical gas and liquid flow rates below which no entrainment is possible.Additionally, a new correlation is proposed for the estimation of minimum liquid film flow rate at the maximum entrainment fraction condition. The improved correlation successfully predicted the newly collected air–water and Freon-113 entrainment fraction data. Furthermore, the correlations satisfactorily compared with the air–water, helium–water and air–genklene experimental data measured by Willetts [Willetts, I.P., 1987. Non-aqueous annular two-phase flow. D.Phil. Thesis, University of Oxford]. However, comparison of the correlations with the steam–water data available in literature showed significant discrepancies. It is proposed that these discrepancies might have been caused due to the inadequacy of the liquid film extraction method used to measure the entrainment fraction or due to the change in mechanism of entrainment under high liquid flow conditions.  相似文献

Using the two-velocity, two-temperature model of a continuous medium, the viscousgravitational flow of a mixture of incompressible liquid and solid particles in a vertical round tube is considered. The free-convection equations are written down on the basis of the general equation of motion and the energy equation of a two-phase medium [1, 2]. Using a finite Hankel integral transformation, a solution is constructed for the case of a linear wall-temperature distribution along the tube. The results of some practical calculations of the velocity and temperature fields over the cross section of the tube are presented, together with the dimensionless heat-transfer coefficient expressed as a function of the Rayleigh number and phase concentration. Here it is assumed that the dynamic and thermal-interaction coefficients between the phases correspond to the Stokes mode of flow for each particle, as a result of which the velocity and thermal phase lag is very small [3].Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Mekhaniki i Tekhnicheskoi Fiziki, No. 4, pp. 132–136, July–August, 1975.  相似文献

The transport processes in a fixed-bed catalytic reactor are investigated numerically with allowance for the interaction of the thermal and hydrodynamic effects. The problem is solved in the two-dimensional formulation over the entire interval of laminar viscous gas flow. The effect of voidage nonuniformities near the wall on the aerodynamic, temperature and concentration patterns is studied. The possible coexistence of different heterogeneous catalysis regimes over the cross section of the apparatus, depending on the gas dynamic and thermophysical parameters, is demonstrated.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 2, pp. 116–123, March–April, 1991.  相似文献

The free convective circulation of liquid in plane vertical slits of circular and square cross section with a longitudinal horizontal temperature gradient at the boundaries was investigated experimentally. It was found that under such heating conditions there is a uniform-vorticity flow with a region of quasirigid rotation, which has the shape of a disk in a circular slit and the shape of a cross in a square slit; in each longitudinal section of this zone the liquid moves along concentric trajectories with constant angular velocity. Dimensionless numbers for the problem were established by tests with various liquids and cavities of different dimensions. In dimensionless form, the angular velocity of the vortex and the temperature gradient in it depend linearly on the temperature difference at the boundaries of the layer.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 3, pp. 160–165, May–June, 1984.  相似文献

A general solution is obtained for the problem of the helical motion of an incompressible liquid along a channel with a cross section in the shape of an annular sector or a triangle. The possible use of the solutions so obtained in order to describe secondary flows with repeated circulation in channels of simple shape (ring, circle, square, rhomb, rectangle, equilateral triangle) is demonstrated. The theory is in agreement with experiment. In one particular setting, problems as to the helical motion of an ideal incompressible liquid in channels of simple configuration were solved in [1, 2]. In this paper flows of a more general form with repeated circulation are considered, several vortices occurring inside the tube cross section.Deceased.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR. In this paper we develop an approach to design a three-phase, gas–solid–liquid flow system that transports pneumatically scarified solid particles, including sticky ones, through a vertical pipe. The proposed system permits the introduction and maintenance of a liquid film that coats the pipe’s inner wall and acts as a lubricant that ensures sticky particles continue to move upward without permanently adhering to the pipe wall. The system’s operating conditions fall within the boundaries of the annular dispersed region on a typical flow pattern map of vertical flow of a gas–liquid mixture. High gas superficial velocities combined with low liquid superficial velocities characterize such a region. A combination of a modified one-dimensional, two-fluid annular dispersed flow model and a one-dimensional pneumatic conveying model is shown to describe this transport process satisfactorily. Solution of the combined models produces all the necessary design parameters including power requirements and superficial velocities of the two-fluid media needed to transport a given amount of solid particles. Results of model calculations are compared with rare three-phase flow data obtained prior to the development of the present model, by an independent experimental team that used the physical conditions of the present approach. Reasonable agreement justifies the use of the combined model for engineering design purposes.  相似文献

The problem of profiling supersonic nozzles with a central body in order to achieve uniform supersonic flow with Mach number M e >1 in the annular exit section is studied. Equal lengths of the profiled inner (central body) and outer nozzle walls can be achieved by displacing downstream the initial bend in the inner contour, i.e., in the central body wall. A displacement of this kind was proposed and tested in [1, 2] for annular nozzles with circular exit sections.Moscow. In classical hydrodynamics the situation is examined in which a body moves in a liquid under the condition that at infinity the liquid is quiescent or in translation [1, 2]. In [3] the problem of flow around a cylinder by an arbitrary liquid current is solved, with consideration not only of flow velocities, but also of their variability over the coordinates. In the present study these earlier results will be generalized to the case of motion of a thin curved body of circular cross section in an arbitrary spatial potential flow of an ideal incompressible liquid.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 1, pp. 9–12, January–February, 1973.  相似文献

This study considers the prediction of the degree of asymmetry in the circumferential distribution of the liquid film in the tube cross section of horizontal annular gas–liquid two-phase flow, endemic of the lower region of this flow regime near the stratified-wavy flow transition boundary. Focusing on disturbance waves as the predominant mechanism for transporting the liquid in the annular film from the bottom to the top of the tube to counterbalance the draining effect of gravity, a new prediction method for the degree of asymmetry in the annular liquid film is proposed that outperforms existing correlations. Flow pattern maps for horizontal gas–liquid two-phase flow of frequent use in the design of evaporators and condensers can thus be explicitly updated to account for both symmetric and asymmetric annular flows. The underlying experimental database contains 184 measured liquid film circumferential profiles, corresponding to 1276 local liquid film thickness measurements collected from 15 different literature studies for tube diameters from 8.15 mm to 95.3 mm.  相似文献

The laminar flow of a thin layer of heavy viscous magnetic liquid down an inclined wall is examined. The stability and control of the flow of an ordinary liquid are affected only by alteration of the angle of inclination of the solid wall and the velocity of the adjacent gas flow. When magnetic liquids are used [1, 2], an effective method of flow control may be control of the magnetic field. By using magnetic fields of various configurations it is possible to control the flow of a thin film of viscous liquid, modify the stability of laminar film flow, and change the shape of the free surface of the laminarly flowing thin film, a factor which plays a role in mass transfer, whose rate depends on the phase contact surface area. The magnetic field significantly affects the shape of the free surface of a magnetic liquid [3, 4]. In this paper the velocity profile of a layer of viscous magnetic liquid adjoining a gas flow and flowing down an inclined solid wall in a uniform magnetic field is found. It is shown that the flow can be controlled by the magnetic field. The problem of stability of the flow is solved in a linear formulation in which perturbations of the magnetic field are taken into account. The stability condition is found. The flow stability is affected by the nonuniform nature of the field and also by its direction.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 5, pp. 59–65, September–October, 1977.  相似文献

The transition flow is considered of a fibrous suspension in a pipe. The flow region consists of two subregions: at the center of the flow a plug formed by interwoven fibers and fluid moves as a rigid body; between the solid wall and the plug is a boundary layer in which the suspension is a mixture of the liquid phase and fibers separated from the plug [1–3]. In the boundary region the suspension is simulated as an anisotropic Ericksen—Leslie fluid [4, 5] which satisfies certain additional conditions. Equations are obtained for the velocity profile and drag coefficient of the pipe, which are both qualitatively and quantitatively in good agreement with the experimental results [6–8]. Within the framework of the model, a mechanism is found for reducing the drag in the flow of a fibrous suspension as compared to the drag of its liquid phase.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 5, pp. 91–98, September–October, 1985.  相似文献

In heat transport devices such as oscillating heat pipe (OHP), dryout phenomena is very important and avoided in order to give the optimum performance. However, from the previous studies (including our studies), the dryout phenomena in OHP and its mechanism are still unclear. In our studies of OHP (Senjaya and Inoue in Appl Thermal Eng 60:251–255, 2013; Int J Heat Mass Transfer 60:816–824, 2013; Int J Heat Mass Transfer 60:825–835, 2013), we introduced the importance and roles of liquid film in the operating principle of OHP. In our previous simulation, the thickness of liquid film was assumed to be uniform along a vapor plug. Then, dryout never occurred because there was the liquid transfer from the liquid film in the cooling section to that in the heating section. In this research, the liquid film is not treated uniformly but it is meshed similarly with the vapor plugs and liquid slugs. All governing equations are also solved in each control volume of liquid film. The simulation results show that dryout occurs in the simulation without bubble generation and growth. Dryout is started in the middle of vapor plug, because the liquid supply from the left and right liquid slugs cannot reach until the liquid film in the middle of vapor plug, and propagates to the left and right sides of a vapor plug. By inserting the bubble generation and growth phenomena, dryout does not occur because the wall of heating section is always wetted during the bubble growth and the thickness of liquid film is almost constant. The effects of meshing size of liquid film and wall temperature of heating section are also investigated. The results show that the smaller meshing size, the smaller liquid transfer rate and the faster of dryout propagation. In the OHP with higher wall temperature of heating section, dryout and its propagation also occur faster.  相似文献

An experimental investigation was made of the flow of a viscous incompressible liquid in a trench of square transverse cross section, using a laser Doppler velocimeter. The investigation was made with two values of the Reynolds number Re, corresponding to laminar and turbulent flow conditions in the channel. The experimental data show that a core with a constant vorticity is formed in the trench, that a jet propagates near the walls of the trench, and that there are secondary eddies in the corners of the trench. The motion of a viscous liquid in a trench of rectangular cross section is part of a broad class of breakaway flows. Experimental data on the investigation of flow in trenches are extremely few. A majority of the existing information is limited to visual observations [1–4]. In [2, 5, 6] the question of the unstable character of flow in trenches was discussed. Quantitative measurements of stable eddy flows in trenches were made in [7–9] using a thermoanemometer, and in [7] measurements were made of the pressure at the bottom and walls of trenches; there are data on the distribution of the velocity in the middle sections of trenches. In [8] the mean velocity, the intensity of the turbulence, and the stress of the turbulent flow were obtained in several sections parallel to the side walls of the trench, In [9] a measurement was made of the velocities also in two cross sections of a trench in which one component of the velocity prevails. A brief analysis of the existing experimental results shows that these data are insufficient to form a detailed representation of the character of flow in a trench.Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Mekhaniki i Tekhnicheskoi Fiziki, No. 2, pp. 76–86, March–April, 1976.  相似文献

A simple qualitative model, a generalization of the well-known Hamel model [6], suitable for any gas density ratio is constructed; a passage in the limit to the strong collision model is demonstrated. Light-induced diffusion in a plane channel is examined within the framework of the model proposed for arbitrary Knudsen numbers and various gas density ratios; velocity profiles are obtained; the effect of the relative cross section of the excited molecules and the radiation power on the velocities of the active and buffer gases is investigated; the role of the wall in the variation of the total momentum of the mixture is established.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 2, pp. 159–165, March–April, 1990.The author is grateful to M. Evolution and decay of pressure waves of moderate amplitude in a vertical shock tube filled by a gas–liquid medium with a nonuniform (stepwise) distribution of bubbles over the tube cross section are studied experimentally. The gas–liquid layer has the form of a ring located near the tube wall or the form of a gas–liquid column located in the center of the tube. It is shown that the nonuniformity of bubble distribution over the tube cross section increases the attenuation rate of pressure waves.  相似文献
