In this Letter, we consider lattice versions of the decomposition of the Yang–Mills field a la Cho–Faddeev–Niemi, which was extended by Kondo, Shinohara and Murakami in the continuum formulation. For the SU(N)SU(N) gauge group, we propose a set of defining equations for specifying the decomposition of the gauge link variable and solve them exactly without using the ansatz adopted in the previous studies for SU(2)SU(2) and SU(3)SU(3). As a result, we obtain the general form of the decomposition for SU(N)SU(N) gauge link variables and confirm the previous results obtained for SU(2)SU(2) and SU(3)SU(3).  相似文献

We use the strong coupling and hopping parameter expansions to calculate the pion and rho meson masses for lattice Yang–Mills gauge theories with fermions in irreducible two-index representations, namely the adjoint, symmetric and antisymmetric. The results are found to be consistent with orientifold planar equivalence, and leading order 1/Nc1/Nc corrections are calculated in the lattice phase. An estimate of the critical bare mass, for which the pion is massless, is obtained as a function of the bare coupling. A comparison to data from the two-flavour SU(2)SU(2) theory with adjoint fermions gives evidence for a bulk phase transition at βc∼2βc2, separating a pure lattice phase from a phase smoothly connected to the continuum.  相似文献

We discuss a general framework for the realization of a family of Abelian lattice gauge theories, i.e., link models or gauge magnets, in optical lattices. We analyze the properties of these models that make them suitable for quantum simulations. Within this class, we study in detail the phases of a U(1)U(1)-invariant lattice gauge theory in 2+12+1 dimensions, originally proposed by P. Orland. By using exact diagonalization, we extract the low-energy states for small lattices, up to 4×44×4. We confirm that the model has two phases, with the confined entangled one characterized by strings wrapping around the whole lattice. We explain how to study larger lattices by using either tensor network techniques or digital quantum simulations with Rydberg atoms loaded in optical lattices, where we discuss in detail a protocol for the preparation of the ground-state. We propose two key experimental tests that can be used as smoking gun of the proper implementation of a gauge theory in optical lattices. These tests consist in verifying the absence of spontaneous (gauge) symmetry breaking of the ground-state and the presence of charge confinement. We also comment on the relation between standard compact U(1)U(1) lattice gauge theory and the model considered in this paper.  相似文献

First of all, we reconsider the tight-binding model of monolayer graphene, in which the variations of the hopping parameters are allowed. We demonstrate that the emergent 2D2D Weitzenbock geometry as well as the emergent U(1)U(1) gauge field appear. The emergent gauge field is equal to the linear combination of the components of the zweibein. Therefore, we actually deal with the gauge fixed version of the emergent 2+12+1   DD teleparallel gravity. In particular, we work out the case, when the variations of the hopping parameters are due to the elastic deformations, and relate the elastic deformations with the emergent zweibein. Next, we investigate the tight-binding model with the varying intralayer hopping parameters for the multilayer graphene with the ABCABC stacking. In this case the emergent 2D2D Weitzenbock geometry and the emergent U(1)U(1) gauge field appear as well, and the emergent low energy effective field theory has the anisotropic scaling.  相似文献

We demonstrate the emergence of non-Abelian fusion rules for excitations of a two dimensional lattice model built out of Abelian degrees of freedom. It can be considered as an extension of the usual toric code model on a two dimensional lattice augmented with matter fields. It consists of the usual C(Zp)C(Zp) gauge degrees of freedom living on the links together with matter degrees of freedom living on the vertices. The matter part is described by a nn dimensional vector space which we call HnHn. The ZpZp gauge particles act on the vertex particles and thus HnHn can be thought of as a C(Zp)C(Zp) module. An exactly solvable model is built with operators acting in this Hilbert space. The vertex excitations for this model are studied and shown to obey non-Abelian fusion rules. We will show this for specific values of nn and pp, though we believe this feature holds for all n>pn>p. We will see that non-Abelian anyons of the quantum double of C(S3)C(S3) are obtained as part of the vertex excitations of the model with n=6n=6 and p=3p=3. Ising anyons are obtained in the model with n=4n=4 and p=2p=2. The n=3n=3 and p=2p=2 case is also worked out as this is the simplest model exhibiting non-Abelian fusion rules. Another common feature shared by these models is that the ground states have a higher symmetry than ZpZp. This makes them possible candidates for realizing quantum computation.  相似文献

A complex symplectic structure on a Lie algebra hh is an integrable complex structure JJ with a closed non-degenerate (2,0)(2,0)-form. It is determined by JJ and the real part ΩΩ of the (2,0)(2,0)-form. Suppose that hh is a semi-direct product g?Vg?V, and both gg and VV are Lagrangian with respect to ΩΩ and totally real with respect to JJ. This note shows that g?Vg?V is its own weak mirror image in the sense that the associated differential Gerstenhaber algebras controlling the extended deformations of ΩΩ and JJ are isomorphic.  相似文献

Based on the dielectric function derived from the viscous chromohydrodynamic approach, we investigate the wake potential induced by a fast parton traveling through the viscous quark–gluon plasma. An oscillatory wake potential and a Lennard-Jones potential are found in the backward direction for the fast parton speeds v=0.99cv=0.99c and v=0.55cv=0.55c, respectively. In the forward direction, there is a modified Coulomb screening potential for both two speeds. When v=0.99cv=0.99c, shear viscosity makes the oscillation of potential more remarkable with the increase of η/sη/s. While v=0.55cv=0.55c, the viscous effects on the wake potential are very trivial in both the forward and backward directions. Finally, we give some explanations for the speed-dependent viscous effects on the wake properties.  相似文献

We report on the presence of new axially symmetric monopoles, antimonopoles and vortex-rings solutions of the SU(2)×U(1) Weinberg–Salam model of electromagnetic and weak interactions. When the ??-winding number n=1n=1, and 2, the configurations are monopole–antimonopole pair (MAP) and monopole–antimonopole chain (MAC) with poles of alternating sign magnetic charge arranged along the zz-axis. Vortex-rings start to appear from the MAP and MAC configurations when the winding number n=3n=3. The MAP configurations possess zero net magnetic charge whereas the MAC configurations possess net magnetic charge of 4πn/e4πn/e.  相似文献

We investigate the effect of quenched bond disorder on the two-dimensional three-color Ashkin–Teller model, which undergoes a first-order phase transition in the absence of impurities. This is one of the simplest and striking models in which quantitative numerical simulations can be carried out to investigate emergent criticality due to disorder rounding of first-order transition. Utilizing extensive cluster Monte Carlo simulations on large lattice sizes of up to 128×128128×128 spins, each of which is represented by three colors taking values ±1±1, we show that the rounding of the first-order phase transition is an emergent criticality. We further calculate the correlation length critical exponent, νν, and the magnetization critical exponent, ββ, from finite size scaling analysis. We find that the critical exponents, νν and ββ, change as the strength of disorder or the four-spin coupling varies, and we show that the critical exponents appear not to be in the Ising universality class. We know of no analytical approaches that can explain our non-perturbative results. However our results should inspire further work on this important problem, either numerical or analytical.  相似文献

We study, in detail, the supersymmetric quantum mechanics of charge-(1,1)(1,1) monopoles in N=2N=2 supersymmetric Yang–Mills–Higgs theory with gauge group SU(3)SU(3) spontaneously broken to U(1)×U(1)U(1)×U(1). We use the moduli space approximation of the quantised dynamics, which can be expressed in two equivalent formalisms: either one describes quantum states by Dirac spinors on the moduli space, in which case the Hamiltonian is the square of the Dirac operator, or one works with anti-holomorphic forms on the moduli space, in which case the Hamiltonian is the Laplacian acting on forms. We review the derivation of both formalisms, explicitly exhibit their equivalence and derive general expressions for the supercharges as differential operators in both formalisms. We propose a general expression for the total angular momentum operator as a differential operator, and check its commutation relations with the supercharges. Using the known metric structure of the moduli space of charge-(1,1)(1,1) monopoles we show that there are no quantum bound states of such monopoles in the moduli space approximation. We exhibit scattering states and compute corresponding differential cross sections.  相似文献

We report new results on nearly conformal gauge theories with fermions in the fundamental representation of the SU(3)SU(3) color gauge group as the number of fermion flavors is varied in the Nf=4–16Nf=416 range. To unambiguously identify the chirally broken phase below the conformal window we apply a comprehensive lattice tool set in finite volumes which includes the test of Goldstone pion dynamics, the spectrum of the fermion Dirac operator, and eigenvalue distributions of random matrix theory. We also discuss the theory inside the conformal window and present our first results on the running of the renormalized gauge coupling and the renormalization group beta function. The importance of understanding finite volume zero momentum gauge field dynamics inside the conformal window is illustrated. Staggered lattice fermions are used throughout the calculations.  相似文献

An exact incompressible quantum liquid is constructed at the filling factor 1/m21/m2 in the square lattice. It supports deconfined fractionally charged excitation. At the filling factor 1/m21/m2, the excitation has fractional charge e/m2e/m2, where ee is the electric charge. This model can be easily generalized to the nn-dimensional square lattice (integer lattice), where the charge of excitations becomes e/mne/mn.  相似文献

Even though the one-dimensional (1D) Hubbard model is solvable by the Bethe ansatz, at half-filling its finite-temperature T>0T>0 transport properties remain poorly understood. In this paper we combine that solution with symmetry to show that within that prominent T=0T=0 1D insulator the charge stiffness D(T)D(T) vanishes for T>0T>0 and finite values of the on-site repulsion UU in the thermodynamic limit. This result is exact and clarifies a long-standing open problem. It rules out that at half-filling the model is an ideal conductor in the thermodynamic limit. Whether at finite TT and U>0U>0 it is an ideal insulator or a normal resistor remains an open question. That at half-filling the charge stiffness is finite at U=0U=0 and vanishes for U>0U>0 is found to result from a general transition from a conductor to an insulator or resistor occurring at U=Uc=0U=Uc=0 for all finite temperatures T>0T>0. (At T=0T=0 such a transition is the quantum metal to Mott-Hubbard-insulator transition.) The interplay of the ηη-spin SU(2)SU(2) symmetry with the hidden U(1)U(1) symmetry beyond SO(4)SO(4) is found to play a central role in the unusual finite-temperature charge transport properties of the 1D half-filled Hubbard model.  相似文献

In this paper, we try to propose a toy model, which follows the majority rule with the Fermi function, to uncover the role of the heterogeneous interaction between individuals in opinion formation. In order to do this, we define the impact factor IFiIFi, says individual ii, as the exponential function of its connectivity kiki with the tunable parameter ββ. ββ also shows the public information that can be collected by individuals in the system. We realize our model in scale-free networks with mean connectivity 〈k〉k. We find that much more public information (β>β2β>β2) and less public information (β<β1β<β1) cannot let either of the two opinions be the majority during the opinion formation. Furthermore, β1β1 is a constant and equal to −0.76(±0.04)0.76(±0.04), and β2β2 decreases as a power-law function of the mean connectivity 〈k〉k of the network. Our work can provide some perspectives and tools to understand the diversity of opinion in social networks.  相似文献

Gaussian and Chiral β  -Ensembles, which generalise well-known orthogonal (β=1β=1), unitary (β=2β=2), and symplectic (β=4β=4) ensembles of random Hermitian matrices, are considered. Averages are shown to satisfy duality relations like {β,N,n}⇔{4/β,n,N}{β,N,n}{4/β,n,N} for all β>0β>0, where N and n respectively denote the number of eigenvalues and products of characteristic polynomials. At the edge of the spectrum, matrix integrals of the Airy (Kontsevich) type are obtained. Consequences on the integral representation of the multiple orthogonal polynomials and the partition function of the formal one-matrix model are also discussed. Proofs rely on the theory of multivariate symmetric polynomials, especially Jack polynomials.  相似文献

A cosmological model has been constructed with Gauss–Bonnet-scalar interaction, where the Universe starts with exponential expansion but encounters infinite deceleration, q→∞q and infinite equation of state parameter, w→∞w. During evolution it subsequently passes through the stiff fluid era, q=2q=2, w=1w=1, the radiation dominated era, q=1q=1, w=1/3w=1/3 and the matter dominated era, q=1/2q=1/2, w=0w=0. Finally, deceleration halts, q=0q=0, w=−1/3w=1/3, and it then encounters a transition to the accelerating phase. Asymptotically the Universe reaches yet another inflationary phase q→−1q1, w→−1w1. Such evolution is independent of the form of the potential and the sign of the kinetic energy term, i.e., even a non-canonical kinetic energy is unable to phantomize (w<−1)(w<1) the model.  相似文献

A curve αα immersed in the three-dimensional sphere S3S3 is said to be a Bertrand curve if there exists another curve ββ and a one-to-one correspondence between αα and ββ such that both curves have common principal normal geodesics at corresponding points. The curves αα and ββ are said to be a pair of Bertrand curves in S3S3. One of our main results is a sort of theorem for Bertrand curves in S3S3 which formally agrees with the classical one: “Bertrand curves in S3S3 correspond to curves for which there exist two constants λ≠0λ0 and μμ such that λκ+μτ=1λκ+μτ=1”, where κκ and ττ stand for the curvature and torsion of the curve; in particular, general helices in the 3-sphere introduced by M. Barros are Bertrand curves. As an easy application of the main theorem, we characterize helices in S3S3 as the only twisted curves in S3S3 having infinite Bertrand conjugate curves. We also find several relationships between Bertrand curves in S3S3 and (1,3)-Bertrand curves in R4R4.  相似文献

We consider the 2D critical Ising model with spatially periodic boundary conditions. It is shown that for a suitable reparameterization of the known Boltzmann weights the transfer matrix becomes a polynomial in the variable csc(4u)csc(4u), uu being the spectral parameter. The coefficients of this polynomial are decomposed on the periodic Temperley–Lieb algebra by introducing a lattice version of the local integrals of motion.  相似文献
