We consider nonlinear elliptic equations of the form −Δu = g(u) in Ω, u = 0 on ∂Ω, and Hamiltonian-type systems of the form −Δu = g(v) in Ω, −Δv = f(u) in Ω, u = 0 and v = 0 on ∂Ω, where Ω is a bounded domain in ℝ2 and f, gC(ℝ) are superlinear nonlinearities. In two dimensions the maximal growth (= critical growth) of f and g (such that the problem can be treated variationally) is of exponential type, given by Pohozaev-Trudinger-type inequalities. We discuss existence and nonexistence results related to the critical growth for the equation and the system. A natural framework for such equations and systems is given by Sobolev spaces, which provide in most cases an adequate answer concerning the maximal growth involved. However, we will see that for the system in dimension 2, the Sobolev embeddings are not sufficiently fine to capture the true maximal growths. We will show that working in Lorentz spaces gives better results. Dedicated to Professor S. Nikol’skii on the occasion of his 100th birthday  相似文献

Sufficient conditions for the existence of an inertial manifold are found for the equation u tt + 2γu t − Δu = f(u, u t ), u = u(x, t), x ∈ Ω ⋐ ℝ N , u| Ω = 0, t > 0 under the assumption that the function f satisfies the Lipschitz condition.  相似文献

LetM be a compact riemannian manifold,h an odd function such thath(r)/r is non-decreasing with limit 0 at 0. Letf(r)=h(r)-γr and assume there exist non-negative constantsA andB and a realp>1 such thatf(r)>Ar P-B. We prove that any non-negative solutionu ofu ttgu=f(u) onM x ℝ+ satisfying Dirichlet or Neumann boundary conditions on ϖM converges to a (stationary) solution of Δ g Φ=f(Φ) onM with exponential decay of ‖u-Φ‖C 2(M). For solutions with non-constant sign, we prove an homogenisation result for sufficiently small λ; further, we show that for every λ the map (u(0,·),u t(0,·))→(u(t,·), u t(t,·)) defines a dynamical system onW 1/2(M)⊂C(M)×L 2(M) which possesses a compact maximal attractor.   相似文献

The existence of positive radial solutions of the equation -din( |Du|p-2Du)=f(u) is studied in annular domains in Rn,n≥2. It is proved that if f(0)≥0, f is somewherenegative in (0,∞), limu→0^ f‘ (u)=0 and limu→∞ (f(u)/u^p-1)=∞, then there is alarge positive radial solution on all annuli. If f(0)≤0 and satisfies certain conditions, then the equation has no radial solution if the annuli are too wide.  相似文献

This paper develops boundary integral representation formulas for the second variations of cost functionals for elliptic domain optimization problems. From the collection of all Lipschitz domains Ω which satisfy a constraint Ω g(x) dx=1, a domain is sought which maximizes either , fixed x 0∈Ω, or ℱ(Ω)= Ω F(x,u(x)) dx, where u solves the Dirichlet problem Δu(x)=−f(x), x∈Ω, u(x)=0, xΩ. Necessary and sufficient conditions for local optimality are presented in terms of the first and second variations of the cost functionals and ℱ. The second variations are computed with respect to domain variations which preserve the constraint. After first summarizing known facts about the first variations of u and the cost functionals, a series of formulas relating various second variations of these quantities are derived. Calculating the second variations depends on finding first variations of solutions u when the data f are permitted to depend on the domain Ω.  相似文献

Let Ω⊂R n be an arbitrary open set. In this paper it is shown that if a Sobolev functionfW 1,p (Ω) possesses a zero trace (in the sense of Lebesgue points) on ϖΩ, thenf is weakly zero on ϖΩ in the sense thatfW 0 1,p (Ω).  相似文献

For a bounded domain Ω ⊂ R n endowed with L -metric g, and a C 5-Riemannian manifold (N, h) ⊂ R k without boundary, let uW 1,2(Ω, N) be a weakly harmonic map, we prove that (1) uC α (Ω, N) for n = 2, and (2) for n ≥ 3, if, in additions, gVMO(Ω) and u satisfies the quasi-monotonicity inequality (1.5), then there exists a closed set Σ ⊂ Ω, with H n-2(Σ) = 0, such that for some α ∈ (0, 1). Letf be a non-decreasing C1-function such that andF(t)/f 2 a(t)→ 0 ast → ∞, whereF(t)=∫ 0 t f(s) ds anda ∈ (0, 2]. We prove the existence of positive large solutions to the equationΔu +q(x)|Δu| a =p(x)f(u) in a smooth bounded domain Ω ⊂RN, provided thatp, q are non-negative continuous functions so that any zero ofp is surrounded by a surface strictly included in Ω on whichp is positive. Under additional hypotheses onp we deduce the existence of solutions if Ω is unbounded.  相似文献

One considers a semilinear parabolic equation u t = Lua(x)f(u) or an elliptic equation u tt + Lua(x)f(u) = 0 in a semi-infinite cylinder Ω × ℝ+ with the nonlinear boundary condition , where L is a uniformly elliptic divergent operator in a bounded domain Ω ∈ ℝn; a(x) and b(x) are nonnegative measurable functions in Ω. One studies the asymptotic behavior of solutions of such boundary-value problems for t → ∞. __________ Translated from Trudy Seminara imeni I. G. Petrovskogo, No. 26, pp. 368–389, 2007.  相似文献

The semilinear perturbation of Poisson’s equation (E): −Δu+β(u)∋f, where β is a maximal monotone graph inR, has been investigated by Ph. Bénilan, H. Brézis and M. Crandall forfL 1(R N ),N≧1, under the assumptions 0∈β(0) ifN≧3 and 0∈β(0) ∩ Int β(R) ifN=1,2. We discuss in this paper the solvability and well-posedness of (E) in terms of any maximal monotone graph β. In particular, if β takes only positive values andN≧3 we prove that no solution exists; ifN=2 we give necessary and sufficient conditions on β andf for (E) to be solvable in a natural sense.  相似文献

An Application of a Mountain Pass Theorem   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
We are concerned with the following Dirichlet problem: −Δu(x) = f(x, u), x∈Ω, uH 1 0(Ω), (P) where f(x, t) ∈C (×ℝ), f(x, t)/t is nondecreasing in t∈ℝ and tends to an L -function q(x) uniformly in x∈Ω as t→ + ∞ (i.e., f(x, t) is asymptotically linear in t at infinity). In this case, an Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz-type condition, that is, for some θ > 2, M > 0, 0 > θF(x, s) ≤f(x, s)s, for all |s|≥M and x∈Ω, (AR) is no longer true, where F(x, s) = ∫ s 0 f(x, t)dt. As is well known, (AR) is an important technical condition in applying Mountain Pass Theorem. In this paper, without assuming (AR) we prove, by using a variant version of Mountain Pass Theorem, that problem (P) has a positive solution under suitable conditions on f(x, t) and q(x). Our methods also work for the case where f(x, t) is superlinear in t at infinity, i.e., q(x) ≡ +∞. Received June 24, 1998, Accepted January 14, 2000.  相似文献

In accordance with the demands of the so-called local approach to inverse problems, the set of “waves” uf (·, T) is studied, where uf (x,t) is the solution of the initial boundary-value problem utt−Δu=0 in Ω×(0,T), u|t<0=0, u|∂Ω×(0,T)=f, and the (singular) control f runs over the class L2((0,T); H−m (∂Ω)) (m>0). The following result is established. Let ΩT={x ∈ Ω : dist(x, ∂Ω)<T)} be a subdomain of Ω ⊂ ℝn (diam Ω<∞) filled with waves by a final instant of time t=T, let T*=inf{T : ΩT=Ω} be the time of filling the whole domain Ω. We introduce the notation Dm=Dom((−Δ)m/2), where (−Δ) is the Laplace operator, Dom(−Δ)=H2(Ω)∩H 0 1 (Ω);D−m=(Dm)′;D−mT)={y∈D−m:supp y ⋐ ΩT. If T<T., then the reachable set R m T ={ut(·, T): f ∈ L2((0,T), H−m (∂Ω))} (∀m>0), which is dense in D−mT), does not contain the class C 0 T). Examples of a ∈ C 0 , a ∈ R m T , are presented. We consider the boundary blowup problem for k-curvature equation, i.e., H k [u] = f(u) g(|Du|) in an n-dimensional domain Ω, with the boundary condition u(x) → ∞ as dist (x,∂Ω) → 0. We prove the existence result under some hypotheses. We also establish the asymptotic behavior of a solution near the boundary ∂Ω. We consider the nonlinear eigenvalue problem −Δuf(u) in Ω u=0 on ∂Ω, where Ω is a ball or an annulus in RN (N ≥ 2) and λ > 0 is a parameter. It is known that if λ >> 1, then the corresponding positive solution uλ develops boundary layers under some conditions on f. We establish the asymptotic formulas for the slope of the boundary layers of uλ with the exact second term and the ‘optimal’ estimate of the third term.  相似文献

Consider the equation −Δu = 0 in a bounded smooth domain , complemented by the nonlinear Neumann boundary condition ∂ν u = f(x, u) − u on ∂Ω. We show that any very weak solution of this problem belongs to L (Ω) provided f satisfies the growth condition |f(x, s)| ≤ C(1 + |s| p ) for some p ∈ (1, p*), where . If, in addition, f(x, s) ≥ −C + λs for some λ > 1, then all positive very weak solutions are uniformly a priori bounded. We also show by means of examples that p* is a sharp critical exponent. In particular, using variational methods we prove the following multiplicity result: if N ∈ {3, 4} and f(x, s) =  s p then there exists a domain Ω and such that our problem possesses at least two positive, unbounded, very weak solutions blowing up at a prescribed point of ∂Ω provided . Our regularity results and a priori bounds for positive very weak solutions remain true if the right-hand side in the differential equation is of the form h(x, u) with h satisfying suitable growth conditions.  相似文献

We derive a Carleson type estimate for positive solutions of non-divergence second order elliptic equations Lu = a ij D ij u + b i D i u = 0 in a bounded domain Ω ⊂ ℝ n . We assume that b i L n (Ω) and Ω is a twisted H?lder domain of order α ∈ (1/2, 1] which satisfies a weak regularity condition. We also provide an example which shows that the main result fails in general if α ∈ (0, 1/2]. Bibliography: 18 titles.  相似文献

We consider the Dirichlet problem for positive solutions of the equation −Δm (u) = f(u) in a bounded smooth domain Ω, with f positive and locally Lipschitz continuous. We prove a Harnack type inequality for the solutions of the linearized operator, a Harnack type comparison inequality for the solutions, and exploit them to prove a Strong Comparison Principle for solutions of the equation, as well as a Strong Maximum Principle for the solutions of the linearized operator. We then apply these results, together with monotonicity results recently obtained by the authors, to get regularity results for the solutions. In particular we prove that in convex and symmetric domains, the only point where the gradient of a solution u vanishes is the center of symmetry (i.e. Z≡{x∈ Ω ∨ D(u)(x) = 0 = {0} assuming that 0 is the center of symmetry). This is crucial in the study of m-Laplace equations, since Z is exactly the set of points where the m-Laplace operator is degenerate elliptic. As a corollary uC2(Ω∖{0}). The problem of finding a solution of the Neumann problem for the Laplacian in the form of a simple layer potential Vρ with unknown density ρ is known to be reducible to a boundary integral equation of the second kind to be solved for density. The Neumann problem is examined in a bounded n-dimensional domain Ω+ (n > 2) with a cusp of an outward isolated peak either on its boundary or in its complement Ω = R n +. Let Γ be the common boundary of the domains Ω±, Tr(Γ) be the space of traces on Γ of functions with finite Dirichlet integral over R n , and Tr(Γ)* be the dual space to Tr(Γ). We show that the solution of the Neumann problem for a domain Ω with a cusp of an inward peak may be represented as Vρ, where ρ ∈ Tr(Γ)* is uniquely determined for all Ψ ∈ Tr(Γ)*. If Ω+ is a domain with an inward peak and if Ψ+ ∈ Tr(Γ)*, Ψ+ ⊥ 1, then the solution of the Neumann problem for Ω+ has the representation u + = Vρ+ for some ρ+ ∈ Tr(Γ)* which is unique up to an additive constant ρ0, ρ0 = V −1(1). These results do not hold for domains with outward peak.  相似文献

Let φ be a convex l.s.c. function fromH (Hilbert) into ] - ∞, ∞ ] andD(φ)={uH; φ(u)<+∞}. It is proved that for everyu 0D(φ) the equation − (du/dt)(t ∈ ∂φ(u(t)),u(0)=u 0 has a solution satisfying ÷(du(t)/dt)÷ ≦(c 1/t)+c 2. The behavior ofu(t) in the neighborhood oft=0 andt=+∞ as well as the inhomogeneous equation (du(t)/dt)+∂φ(u(t)) ∈f(t) are then studied. Solutions of some nonlinear boundary value problems are given as applications.   相似文献

In this paper, we consider the global existence, uniqueness and L estimates of weak solutions to quasilinear parabolic equation of m-Laplacian type u t − div(|∇u| m−2u) = u|u| β−1Ω |u| α dx in Ω × (0,∞) with zero Dirichlet boundary condition in tdΩ. Further, we obtain the L estimate of the solution u(t) and ∇u(t) for t > 0 with the initial data u 0L q (Ω) (q > 1), and the case α + β < m − 1.  相似文献
