Let 2<p<∞. The Banach space spanned by a sequence of independent random variables inL p , each of mean zero, is shown to be isomorphic tol 2,l p ,l 2l p , or a new spaceX p , and the linear topological properties ofX p are investigated. It is proved thatX p is isomorphic to a complemented subspace ofL p and another uncomplemented subspace ofL p , whence there exists an uncomplemented subspace ofl p isomorphic tol p . It is also proved thatX p is not isomorphic to the previously known p spaces. The work for this research was partially supported by the National Science Foundation GP-12997.  相似文献

In a previous paper, the author used a notion of orthogonality introduced in another article to establish characterizations for orthogonality in the spaces lSp(C), 1?p<∞, thus obtaining generalizations of the usual characterization of orthogonality in the Hilbert spaces lS2(C), via inner products. In this paper we make explicit these characterizations for some of the spaces lSp(C). We finish by presenting some remarks and open problems.  相似文献

Hagler and the first named author introduced a class of hereditarily l 1 Banach spaces which do not possess the Schur property. Then the first author extended these spaces to a class of hereditarily l p Banach spaces for 1 ⩽ p < ∞. Here we use these spaces to introduce a new class of hereditarily l p (c 0) Banach spaces analogous of the space of Popov. In particular, for p = 1 the spaces are further examples of hereditarily l 1 Banach spaces failing the Schur property.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the extension of isometries between the unit spheres of complex Banach spaces lp(Γ) and lp(Δ)(p > 1). We first derive the representation of isometries between the unit spheres of complex Banach spaces lp(Γ) and lp(Δ). Then we arrive at a conclusion that any surjective isometry between the unit spheres of complex Banach spaces lp(Γ)and lp(Δ) can be extended to be a linear isometry on the whole space.  相似文献

It is proved that for all fractionall the integral \(\int\limits_0^\infty {(p,\ell ) - cap(M_t )} dt^p\) is majorized by the P-th power norm of the functionu in the space ? p l (Rn) (here Mt={x∶¦u(x)¦?t} and (p,l)-cap(e) is the (p,l)-capacity of the compactum e?Rn). Similar results are obtained for the spaces W p l (Rn) and the spaces of M. Riesz and Bessel potentials. The weighted Sobolev-Lions type spaces W pl,γ(Ω; E0, E) = W pl,γ(Ω; E) ∩ Lp,γ (Ω; E0) are studied, where E0, E are two Banach spaces and E0 is continuously and densely embedded on E. A new concept of capacity of region Ω∈ Rn in W pl,γ(; E0, E) is introduced. Several conditions in terms of capacity of region Ω and interpolations of E0 and E are found such that ensure the continuity and compactness of embedding operators. In particular, the most regular class of interpolation spaces Eα between E0 and E, depending of α and l, are found such that mixed differential operators Dα are bounded and compact from W pl,γ(Ω; E0, E) to Eα-valued Lp,γ spaces. In applications, the maximal regularity for differential-operator equations with parameters are studied.  相似文献

In this paper we obtain generalized Clarkson–McCarthy inequalities for spaces l q (S p ) of operators from Schatten ideals S p . We show that all Clarkson–McCarthy type inequalities are, in fact, some estimates on the norms of operators acting on the spaces l q (S p ) or from one such space into another. We also extend some inequalities for partitioned operators and for Cartesian decomposition of operators.  相似文献

Lower bounds are obtained for thegl constants and hence also for the unconditional basis constants of subspaces of finite dimensional Banach spaces. Sharp results are obtained for subspaces ofl n , while in the general case thegl constants of “random large” subspaces are related to the distance of “random large” subspaces to Euclidean spaces. In addition, a new isometric characterization ofl n is given, some new information is obtained concerningp-absolutely summing operators, and it is proved that every Banach space of dimensionn contains a subspace whose projection constant is of ordern 1/2. This paper deals with a new class of perfect Frèchet spaces which can be obtained by interpolation of echelon spaces: lp,q[am,n]. We prove many of the known results concerningc p in an elementary fashion, together with the result (new for 1<p<2) thatc p is as uniformly convex a Banach space asl p. In spite of the remarkable parallel of norm inequalities in the spacesc p andl p, we show thatp ≠ 2, noc p built on an infinite dimensional Hilbert space is equivalent to any subspace of anyl p orL p space. We consider the Cauchy problem of Navier-Stokes equations in weak Morrey spaces. We first define a class of weak Morrey type spaces Mp*,λ(Rn) on the basis of Lorentz space Lp,∞ = Lp*(Rn)(in particular, Mp*,0(Rn) = Lp,∞, if p > 1), and study some fundamental properties of them; Second,bounded linear operators on weak Morrey spaces, and establish the bilinear estimate in weak Morrey spaces. Finally, by means of Kato's method and the contraction mapping principle, we prove that the Cauchy problem of Navier-Stokes equations in weak Morrey spaces Mp*,λ(Rn) (1<p≤n) is time-global well-posed, provided that the initial data are sufficiently small. Moreover, we also obtain the existence and uniqueness of the self-similar solution for Navier-Stokes equations in these spaces, because the weak Morrey space Mp*,n-p(Rn) can admit the singular initial data with a self-similar structure. Hence this paper generalizes Kato's results.  相似文献

We extend the usual notion of orthogonality to Banach spaces. We show that the extension is quite rich in structure by establishing some of its main properties and consequences. Geometric characterizations and comparison results with other extensions are established. Also, we establish a characterization of compact operators on Banach spaces that admit orthonormal Schauder bases. Finally, we characterize orthogonality in the spaces l2p(C).  相似文献

We study embedding theorems for anisotropic spaces of Bessel-Lions type H p l (Ω; E 0, E), where E 0 and E are Banach spaces. We obtain the most regular spaces E α for which mixed differentiation operators D α from H p l (Ω; E 0, E) to L p(Ω; E α ) are bounded. The spaces E α are interpolation spaces between E 0 and E, depending on α = (α 1, α 2, …, α n ) and l = (l 1, l 2, …, l n ). The results obtained are applied to prove the separability of anisotropic differential operator equations with variable coefficients.  相似文献

J. Lindenstrauss proves in [L] thatc 0(Γ) is not quasicomplemented inl (Γ) while H. P. Rosenthal in [R] proves that subspaces, whose dual balls are weak* sequentially compact and weak* separable, are quasicomplemented inl (Γ). In this note it is proved that weak* separability of the dual is the precise condition determining whether a subspace, without isomorphic copies ofl 1 and whose dual balls are weak* sequentially compact, is quasicomplemented or not inl (Γ). Especially spaces isomorphic tol p(Γ), for 1<p<∞, have no quasicomplements inl (Γ) if Γ is uncountable.  相似文献

We consider weighted Sobolev spaces W p l , l ∈ ?, with weighted L p -norm of higher derivatives on an n-dimensional cube-type domain. The weight γ depends on the distance to an (n ? d)-dimensional face E of the cube. We establish the property of uniform L p -differentiability of functions in these spaces on the face E of an appropriate dimension.
