Order-compactifications of totally ordered spaces were described by Blatter (J Approx Theory 13:56–65, 1975) and by Kent and Richmond (J Math Math Sci 11(4):683–694, 1988). Their results generalize a similar characterization of order-compactifications of linearly ordered spaces, obtained independently by Fedorčuk (Soviet Math Dokl 7:1011–1014, 1966; Sib Math J 10:124–132, 1969) and Kaufman (Colloq Math 17:35–39, 1967). In this note we give a simple characterization of the topology of a totally ordered space, as well as give a new simplified proof of the main results of Blatter (J Approx Theory 13:56–65, 1975) and Kent and Richmond (J Math Math Sci 11(4):683–694, 1988). Our main tool will be an order-topological modification of the Dedekind-MacNeille completion. In addition, for a zero-dimensional totally ordered space X, we determine which order-compactifications of X are Priestley order-compactifications.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to prove some new common fixed point theorems in (GV)-fuzzy metric spaces. While proving our results, we utilize the idea of compatibility due to Jungck (Int J Math Math Sci 9:771–779, 1986) together with subsequentially continuity due to Bouhadjera and Godet-Thobie (arXiv: 0906.3159v1 [math.FA] 17 Jun 2009) respectively (also alternately reciprocal continuity due to Pant (Bull Calcutta Math Soc 90:281–286, 1998) together with subcompatibility due to Bouhadjera and Godet-Thobie (arXiv:0906.3159v1 [math.FA] 17 Jun 2009) as patterned in Imdad et al. (doi:) wherein conditions on completeness (or closedness) of the underlying space (or subspaces) together with conditions on continuity in respect of any one of the involved maps are relaxed. Our results substantially generalize and improve a multitude of relevant common fixed point theorems of the existing literature in metric as well as fuzzy metric spaces which include some relevant results due to Imdad et al. (J Appl Math Inform 26:591–603, 2008), Mihet (doi:), Mishra (Tamkang J Math 39(4):309–316, 2008), Singh (Fuzzy Sets Syst 115:471–475, 2000) and several others.  相似文献

In this note we adopt the approach in Bonnit et al. (Czechoslov. Math. J. 60(2):527–539, 2010) to give a direct proof of some recent results in Haak and Le Merdy (Houst. J. Math., 2005) and Haak and Kunstmann (SIAM J. Control Optim. 45:2094–2118, 2007) which characterizes the L p -admissibility of type α depending on p of unbounded observation operators for bounded analytic semigroups.  相似文献

In this paper we provide a Heine–Borel type characterization for 0-compactness in approach spaces (Lowen 1997). Since this requires making use of the so-called regular function frame the most natural setting to develop this in is approach frames (Banaschewski 1999; Banaschewski et al., Acta Math Hung 115(3):183–196, 2007, Topology Appl 153:3059–3070, 2006). We then go on to characterize Hausdorffness for approach frames which allows us to study some fundamental properties of compact Hausdorff approach frames.  相似文献

This paper investigates the admissibility of control and observation operators in UMD spaces. Necessary and/or sufficient conditions for unbounded control operators to be admissible and weakly admissible in the Salamon–Weiss sense are presented. This is illustrated by an example which shows that the UMD-property is essential. In particular, we get a direct proof of the known result of Driouich and and El-Mennaoui (Arch Math 72:56–63, 1999) on the validity of the inverse formula of the Laplace transform for C 0-semigroups on UMD-spaces and in Hilbert spaces, as proved earlier by Yao (SIAM J Math Anal 26(5):1331–1341, 1995). We outline how these results can be used to prove a partial validity of the inverse Laplace transform for semigroups in general Banach spaces. In particular, we obtain the result on the inverse Laplace transform due to Hille and Philllips (Am Math Soc Transl Ser 2, 1957).  相似文献

Riemannian maps were introduced by Fischer (Contemp. Math. 132:331–366, 1992) as a generalization isometric immersions and Riemannian submersions. He showed that such maps could be used to solve the generalized eikonal equation and to build a quantum model. On the other hand, horizontally conformal maps were defined by Fuglede (Ann. Inst. Fourier (Grenoble) 28:107–144, 1978) and Ishihara (J. Math. Kyoto Univ. 19:215–229, 1979) and these maps are useful for characterization of harmonic morphisms. Horizontally conformal maps (conformal maps) have their applications in medical imaging (brain imaging)and computer graphics. In this paper, as a generalization of Riemannian maps and horizontally conformal submersions, we introduce conformal Riemannian maps, present examples and characterizations. We show that an application of conformal Riemannian maps can be made in weakening the horizontal conformal version of Hermann’s theorem obtained by Okrut (Math. Notes 66(1):94–104, 1999). We also give a geometric characterization of harmonic conformal Riemannian maps and obtain decomposition theorems by using the existence of conformal Riemannian maps.  相似文献

In this paper we develop a method of forming functions of noncommuting operators (or disentangling) using functions that are not necessarily analytic at the origin in ℂ n . The method of disentangling follows Feynman’s heuristic rules from in (Feynman in Phys. Rev. 84:18–128, 1951) a mathematically rigorous fashion, generalizing the work of Jefferies and Johnson and the present author in (Jefferies and Johnson in Russ. J. Math. 8:153–181, 2001) and (Jefferies et al. in J. Korean Math. Soc. 38:193–226, 2001). In fact, the work in (Jefferies and Johnson in Russ. J. Math. 8:153–181, 2001) and (Jefferies et al. in J. Korean Math. Soc. 38:193–226, 2001) allow only functions analytic in a polydisk centered at the origin in ℂ n while the method introduced in this paper enable functions that are not analytic at the origin to be used. It is shown that the disentangling formalism introduced here reduces to that of (Jefferies and Johnson in Russ. J. Math. 8:153–181, 2001) and (Jefferies et al. in J. Korean Math. Soc. 38:193–226, 2001) under the appropriate assumptions. A basic commutativity theorem is also established.  相似文献

Based on the basis theorem of Bruhat–Chevalley (in Algebraic Groups and Their Generalizations: Classical Methods, Proceedings of Symposia in Pure Mathematics, vol. 56 (part 1), pp. 1–26, AMS, Providence, 1994) and the formula for multiplying Schubert classes obtained in (Duan, Invent. Math. 159:407–436, 2005) and programmed in (Duan and Zhao, Int. J. Algebra Comput. 16:1197–1210, 2006), we introduce a new method for computing the Chow rings of flag varieties (resp. the integral cohomology of homogeneous spaces).  相似文献

The general summation theorem for well-poised 5 F 4-series discovered by Dougall (Proc. Edinb. Math. Soc. 25:114–132, 1907) is shown to imply several infinite series of Ramanujan-type for 1/π and 1/π 2, including those due to Bauer (J. Reine Angew. Math. 56:101–121, 1859) and Glaisher (Q. J. Math. 37:173–198, 1905) as well as some recent ones by Levrie (Ramanujan J. 22:221–230, 2010).  相似文献

We address two fundamental questions in the representation theory of affine Hecke algebras of classical types. One is an inductive algorithm to compute characters of tempered modules, and the other is the determination of the constants in the formal degrees of discrete series (in the form conjectured by Reeder (J. Reine Angew. Math. 520:37–93, 2000)). The former is completely different from the Lusztig-Shoji algorithm (Shoji in Invent. Math. 74:239–267, 1983; Lusztig in Ann. Math. 131:355–408, 1990), and it is more effective in a number of cases. The main idea in our proof is to introduce a new family of representations which behave like tempered modules, but for which it is easier to analyze the effect of parameter specializations. Our proof also requires a comparison of the C -theoretic results of Opdam, Delorme, Slooten, Solleveld (J. Inst. Math. Jussieu 3:531–648, 2004; ; Int. Math. Res. Not., 2008; Adv. Math. 220:1549–1601, 2009; Acta Math. 205:105–187, 2010), and the geometric construction from Kato (Duke Math. J. 148:305–371, 2009; Am. J. Math. 133:518–553, 2011), Ciubotaru and Kato (Adv. Math. 226:1538–1590, 2011).  相似文献

B.C. Berndt (J. Reine Angew. Math. 272:182–193, 1975; 304:332–365, 1978) has derived a number of new transformation formulas, in particular, the transformation formulae of the logarithms of the classical theta functions, by using a transformation formula for a more general class of Eisenstein series. In this paper, we continue his study. By using a transformation formula for a class of twisted generalized Eisenstein series, we generalize a transformation formula given by J. Lehner (Duke Math. J. 8:631–655, 1941) and give a new proof for transformation formulas proved by Y. Yang (Bull. Lond. Math. Soc. 36:671–682, 2004). In this paper, we study the semilocal convergence for a fifth-order method for solving nonlinear equations in Banach spaces. The semilocal convergence of this method is established by using recurrence relations. We prove an existence-uniqueness theorem and give a priori error bounds which demonstrates the R-order of the method. As compared with the Jarratt method in Hernández and Salanova (Southwest J Pure Appl Math 1:29–40, 1999) and the Multi-super-Halley method in Wang et al. (Numer Algorithms 56:497–516, 2011), the differentiability conditions of the convergence of the method in this paper are mild and the R-order is improved. Finally, we give some numerical applications to demonstrate our approach.  相似文献

On covers of cyclic acts over monoids   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In (Bull. Lond. Math. Soc. 33:385–390, 2001) Bican, Bashir and Enochs finally solved a long standing conjecture in module theory that all modules over a unitary ring have a flat cover. The only substantial work on covers of acts over monoids seems to be that of Isbell (Semigroup Forum 2:95–118, 1971), Fountain (Proc. Edinb. Math. Soc. (2) 20:87–93, 1976) and Kilp (Semigroup Forum 53:225–229, 1996) who only consider projective covers. To our knowledge the situation for flat covers of acts has not been addressed and this paper is an attempt to initiate such a study. We consider almost exclusively covers of cyclic acts and restrict our attention to strongly flat and condition (P) covers. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of such covers and for a monoid to have the property that all its cyclic right acts have a strongly flat cover (resp. (P)-cover). We give numerous classes of monoids that satisfy these conditions and we also show that there are monoids that do not satisfy this condition in the strongly flat case. We give a new necessary and sufficient condition for a cyclic act to have a projective cover and provide a new proof of one of Isbell’s classic results concerning projective covers. We show also that condition (P) covers are not unique, unlike the situation for projective covers.  相似文献

Quasi-invariance of infinite product measures is studied when a locally compact second countable group acts on a standard Borel space. A characterization of l 2-quasi-invariant infinite product measures is given. The group that leaves the measure class invariant is also studied. In the case where the group acts on itself by translations, our result extends previous ones obtained by Shepp (Ann. Math. Stat. 36:1107–1112, 1965) and by Hora (Math. Z. 206:169–192, 1991; J. Theor. Probab. 5:71–100, 1992) to all connected Lie groups.   相似文献

In this paper we introduce the notion of generalized implication for lattices, as a binary function ⇒ that maps every pair of elements of a lattice to an ideal. We prove that a bounded lattice A is distributive if and only if there exists a generalized implication ⇒ defined in A satisfying certain conditions, and we study the class of bounded distributive lattices A endowed with a generalized implication as a common abstraction of the notions of annihilator (Mandelker, Duke Math J 37:377–386, 1970), Quasi-modal algebras (Celani, Math Bohem 126:721–736, 2001), and weakly Heyting algebras (Celani and Jansana, Math Log Q 51:219–246, 2005). We introduce the suitable notions of morphisms in order to obtain a category, as well as the corresponding notion of congruence. We develop a Priestley style topological duality for the bounded distributive lattices with a generalized implication. This duality generalizes the duality given in Celani and Jansana (Math Log Q 51:219–246, 2005) for weakly Heyting algebras and the duality given in Celani (Math Bohem 126:721–736, 2001) for Quasi-modal algebras.  相似文献

We introduce a new iterative method in order to approximate a locally unique solution of variational inclusions in Banach spaces. The method uses only divided differences operators of order one. An existence–convergence theorem and a radius of convergence are given under some conditions on divided difference operator and Lipschitz-like continuity property of set-valued mappings. Our method extends the recent work related to the resolution of nonlinear equation in Argyros (J Math Anal Appl 332:97–108, 2007) and has the following advantages: faster convergence to the solution than all the previous known ones in Argyros and Hilout (Appl Math Comput, 2008 in press), Hilout (J Math Anal Appl 339:53–761, 2008, Positivity 10:673–700, 2006), and we do not need to evaluate any Fréchet derivative. We provide also an improvement of the ratio of our algorithm under some center-conditions and less computational cost. Numerical examples are also provided.   相似文献

We establish sharp L 2-Sobolev estimates for classes of pseudodifferential operators with singular symbols [Guillemin and Uhlmann (Duke Math J 48:251–267, 1981), Melrose and Uhlmann (Commun Pure Appl Math 32:483–519, 1979)] whose non-pseudodifferential (Fourier integral operator) parts exhibit two-sided fold singularities. The operators considered include both singular integral operators along curves in \mathbb R2{\mathbb R^2} with simple inflection points and normal operators arising in linearized seismic imaging in the presence of fold caustics [Felea (Comm PDE 30:1717–1740, 2005), Felea and Greenleaf (Comm PDE 33:45–77, 2008), Nolan (SIAM J Appl Math 61:659–672, 2000)].  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the stability analysis for a class of Minty mixed variational inequalities in reflexive Banach spaces, when both the mapping and the constraint set are perturbed. Several equivalent characterizations are given for the Minty mixed variational inequality to have nonempty and bounded solution set. A stability result is presented for the Minty mixed variational inequality with Φ-pseudomonotone mapping in reflexive Banach space, when both the mapping and the constraint set are perturbed by different parameters. As an application, a stability result for a generalized mixed variational inequality is also obtained. The results presented in this paper generalize and extend some known results in Fan and Zhong (Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 69:2566–2574, 2008) and He (J. Math. Anal. Appl. 330:352–363, 2007).  相似文献

In this paper we introduce the notion of a Borell-Brascamp-Lieb inequality for metric measure spaces (M,d,m) denoted by BBL(K,N) for two numbers K,N ∈ ℝ with N ≥ 1. In the first part we prove that BBL(K,N) holds true on metric measure spaces satisfying a curvature-dimension condition CD(K,N) developed and studied by Lott and Villani in (Ann Math 169:903–991, 2007) as well as by Sturm in (Acta Math 196(1):133–177, 2006). The aim of the second part is to show that BBL(K,N) is stable under convergence of metric measure spaces with respect to the L 2-transportation distance.  相似文献

In this paper we construct a new class of bilinear pseudodifferential operators which contains both the Coifman-Meyer class as well as the non-translation invariant class closely related both to the bilinear Hilbert transform and previously studied in Bényi et al. (J. Geom. Anal. 16(3):431–453, 2006), Bényi et al. (J. Anal. Math., 2009), Bernicot (Anal. PDE 1:1–27, 2008) as well as the bilinear Marcinkiewicz class studied in Grafakos and Kalton (Stud. Math. 146(2):115–156, 2001). We prove boundedness on Sobolev spaces for these operators as well as establish a symbolic calculus that exhibits the nice behavior of our new class under transposition and composition with linear operators.  相似文献
