The pion absorption reaction (π+,3 p ) on Ar was studied at pion energies of 70, 118, 162 and 239 MeV, and on N and Xe at 239 MeV. The 3p cross section with a 50 MeV cut on the missing energy is presented. The existence of an initial state interaction (ISI) component to the reaction was investigated. The portion of the 3p cross section assigned to the ISI process is less than one half and at lower energies significantly so. Received: 11 December 1997  相似文献

Experimental search for superheavy hydrogen isotopes 6H and 7H was performed in the stopped pion absorption on 9Be and 11B nuclei. The structures in the missing-mass spectra were observed in the reaction channels 9Be(π-, pd )X and 11B(π-, p4He)X . Four states of 6H were proposed. Evidences for 7H formation were obtained in the reaction channels 9Be(π-, pp)X and 11B(π-, p3He)X .  相似文献

We present a new parameterization of the trinucleon wave function. As a novel feature a separable parameterization for the complete wave function is given. In this way any calculation that considers two-body currents only is largely simplified. To demonstrate this we calculate the π3He scattering length in chiral-perturbation theory. We find reasonable agreement with experimental values inferred from data on level shifts in pionic 3He bound states. The relevance of the π-triton system for an alternative determination of the πN scattering lengths is discussed. The multiscattering problem is studied in the matrix density formalism. We study how to isolate the quasi-classical degrees of freedom in order to connect them with a cascade approach. The ω resonance production and its π0γ decay in pA reactions close to threshold is considered within the Intranuclear Cascade (INC) model. The π0γ invariant-mass distribution shows two components which correspond to the ω decay “inside” and “outside” the nucleus, respectively. The “inside” component is distorted by medium effects, which introduce a mass shift as well as collisional broadening for the ω-meson and its decaying pion. The relative contribution of the “inside” component is analyzed in detail for different kinematical conditions and nuclear targets. It is demonstrated that a measurement of the correlation in azimuthal angle between the π0 and γ momenta allows to separate events related to the “inside”ω decay from different sources of background when uncorrelated π0's and γ's are produced. The behaviour of the reflectivity and Kerr magneto-optic effects in the non-linear second-harmonic (SH) field diffracted from nano-scale structured ferromagnetic interfaces is reported. Measurements are made in both the linear and non-linear fields at two different fundamental wavelengths (1064 nm and 800 nm) and their associated harmonics. Resonant behaviour observed as a function of angle of incidence is identified with surface-plasmon production that is known to intensify the local field within the interface. Radiation incident at angles of incidence that optimise coupling to the electron plasma produces an increase in the SH field radiated in the vicinity of those angles. Similarly, at those angles of incidence where radiation at the SH wavelengths (532 nm and 400 nm) couples optimally to the electron plasma, troughs are seen in the angular spectrum of the generated SH radiation. Kerr magneto-optic measurements taken in both the linear field and the SH field both show very significant enhancement at angles meeting the plasma-resonance condition. The totality of experimental data presented allows the conclusion that intensification of the interface electric field due to plasmon creation enhances not only the SH reflection coefficient, as was already known, but also the magneto-optic reflection coefficients in both linear and SH fields. The contribution of a ππ-exchange three-body force to the three-nucleon binding energy is calculated in terms of a πN amplitude. The latter is based on a meson-theoretical model of πN interaction developed by the Jülich group. Similar to a previous study based on simple phenomenological πN potentials a very small effect of the resulting three-body force is found. Possible origins of the two-orders-of-magnitude discrepancy between the present result and the values obtained for the Tucson-Melbourne three-body force are investigated. Evidence is provided that this discrepancy is most likely due to strikingly different off-shell properties of the πN amplitudes underlying the two approaches. Received: 9 February 2000  相似文献

We studied the magnetic properties of ultra-thin Mn films deposited on Ag (001) held at 80 K with soft X-ray absorption and magnetic circular dichroism. The observed shape and branching ratio of the Mn 2p absorption edge as a function of Mn coverage demonstrate that, up to , the Mn adopts a stable high spin state similar to the Mn atom Hund's rule 6 S 5/2 ground state. Above this coverage a rapid transition from localized high spin to itinerant low spin behavior of the Mn 3d electrons is evidenced. Magnetic circular dichroism shows no sign of long range ferromagnetic order in these films at 80 K. The data, first confirm the large atomic-like local magnetic moment, and second are in line with the in-plane antiferromagnetic order, reported recently (Phys. Rev. B 57, 1141 (1998)), for Mn in the nearly ideal on-top Mn monolayer formed by 0.9 ML deposited at 80 K. Received: 4 May 1998  相似文献

Peculiar properties of ion-atom collision systems, in particular deviations from statistical populations of singlet and triplet levels, can be studied by optical spectroscopy. We have extended earlier studies by VUV spectroscopy of a number of collision systems at various collision energies in the 0.01-MeV/nucleon to 1-MeV/nucleon range, involving H2 +, H+, He+, He2+, Ne+, Ar+, and N2 + as projectiles and Ne, Ar, and N2 as target gases. Statistically significant deviations of the relative intensities of singlet and triplet lines from simple ratios are observed in the displaced terms of the valence shell of Ne III, corroborating and extending earlier work. For Ar III, the energy dependences of singlet-to-triplet excitation ratios are very different for different projectiles. The superheavy hydrogen isotopes 4H and 5H have been investigated in the stopped pion absorption on 9Be. Three states of 4H were proposed in the reaction channel 9Be( { - }, dt)X. Four states of 5H were proposed in the reaction channels 9Be({ - }, pt)X and 9Be({ - }, dt)X. The excited states of 5H can decay into free nucleons.  相似文献

We considered the kaon absorption from atomic states into the nucleus. We found that the nuclear density probed by the atomic kaon significantly depends on the kaon orbit. Then, we re-examined the meanings of the observed strengths of one-body and two-body kaon absorption, and investigated the effects to the formation spectra of kaon bound states by in-flight (K -, p) reactions. As a natural consequence, if the atomic kaon probes a smaller nuclear density, the ratio of the two-body absorption at nuclear center is larger than the observed value in kaonic atoms, and the depth of the imaginary potential is deeper even at smaller kaon energies as in kaonic nuclear states because of the large phase space for the two-body processes. This deeper imaginary potential makes the signals of kaonic nucleus formation more unclear in the (K -, p) spectra.  相似文献

Thermal neutron induced charged particle reactions in a radioactive target of37Ar have been studied. Upper limits of the cross-sections for the (n, α) reaction in radioactive targets of109Cd,125, 127Xe, and132Cs have been obtained. The isotopically pure targets were produced at the ISOLDE facility at CERN and irradiated with thermal neutrons at the high flux reactor of the Institute Laue-Langevin in Grenoble. Charged particles from (n, p) and (n, α) reactions in37Ar were observed with cross-sections of 69±14b and 1970 ±330b, respectively. TheQ-values for these reactions were determined to be 1600 ±12 keV and 4630±7 keV, in agreement with existing mass data. The branching ratio Γαp of the37Ar capturing state was found to be 28.5±2.7. An upper limit of the cross-section for the (n, γα) reaction in37Ar was obtained.  相似文献

Fragments produced in the reactions of 69 MeV/nucleon 36Ar and 55 MeV/nucleon 40Ar on a Be target have been measured experimentally. The isotopic distributions from fragmentation reaction for both projectiles are compared with modified statistical abrasion-ablation model calculations. A strong isospin effect exhibits in the fragment distributions produced in 36Ar and 40Ar fragmentation. Experimental evidence for the disappearance of the isospin effect in the isotopic distributions produced by projectile fragmentation is observed with the increase of the violence of nuclear reaction. Summary The quenching of metastable Ar, Kr and Xe atoms by halogen molecules via an electron jump mechanism is examined by using the multiple curve-crossing formalism of Bauer, Fisher and Gilmore. Cross-sections for the quenching process are calculated which are found in good agreement with experiment. Finally, the model presented here is compared with other quenching mechanisms.

Experimental studies of the electron energy distribution function “EEDF” under well defined conditions in flowing afterglow plasma, using a Langmuir probe are reported. The EEDF is measured in He2 + and Ar+ dominated plasmas and in XeH+ and XeD+ dominated recombining plasmas. He is used as a buffer gas at medium pressures in all experiments (1600 Pa, 250 K). The deviation of the measured EEDF from Maxwellian distribution is shown to depend on plasma composition and on the processes governing the plasma decay. The influence of energetic electrons produced during the plasma decay on the body and tail of the EEDF is observed. The mechanism of energy balance in afterglow plasma is discussed.  相似文献

The spectrum of six-times ionized xenon, Xe VII, has been studied in the 270–6,500 ? using a pulsed discharge. 110 new classified lines are reported. Ten levels belonging to the odd parity configurations and four belonging to the even configurations have been determined. To obtain the energy parameters Hartree-Fock relativistic calculations were used.
