On S-duo rings
A unital left R-module R M is said to have property (S) if every surjective endomorphism of R M is an automorphism, the ring R is called left (right) S-ring if every left (right) R-module with property (S) is Noetherian, R is called S-ring if it is both a left and a right S-ring. In this note we show that a duo ring is a left S-ring if and only if it is left Artinian left principal ideal ring. To do this we shall construct on every non distributive Artinian local ring with radical square zero a non-finitely generated module with property (S). And we give an example of left duo left Artinian left principal ideal ring which is not a left S-ring, showing the necessity of the ring to be duo in the above result.  相似文献

We introduce and study lattice-finite Noetherian rings and show that they form a onedimensional analogue of representation-finite Artinian rings. We prove that every lattice-finite Noetherian ring R has Krull dimension ≼ 1, and that R modulo its Artinian radical is an order in a semi-simple ring. Our main result states that maximal overorders of R exist and have to be Asano orders, while they need not be fully bounded. This will be achieved by means of an idempotent ideal I(R), an invariant or R which is new even for classical orders R. This ideal satisfies I(R) = R whenever R is maximal. Presented by H. In this paper, we prove that R is a two-sided Artinian ring and J is a right annihilator ideal if and only if (i) for any nonzero right module, there is a nonzero linear map from it to a projective module; (ii) every submodule of RR is not a radical module for some right coherent rings. We call a ring a right X ring if Homa(M, R) = 0 for any right module M implies that M = 0. We can prove some left Goldie and right X rings are right Artinian rings. Moreover we characterize semisimple rings by using X rings. A famous Faith‘s conjecture is whether a semipimary PF ring is a QF ring. Similarly we study the relationship between X rings and QF and get many interesting results.  相似文献

Let R be a fully bounded Noetherian ring of finite global dimension. Then we prove that K dim (R) gldim (R). If, in addition, Ris local, in the sense that R/J(R) is simple Artinian, thenwe prove that R is Auslander-regular and satisfies a versionof the Cohen–Macaulay property. As a consequence, we showthat a local fully bounded Noetherian ring of finite globaldimension is isomorphic to a matrix ring over a local domain, and a maximal order in its simple Artinian quotient ring.  相似文献

We observe that every non-commutative unital ring has at least three maximal commutative subrings. In particular, non-commutative rings (resp., finite non-commutative rings) in which there are exactly three (resp., four) maximal commutative subrings are characterized. If R has acc or dcc on its commutative subrings containing the center, whose intersection with the nontrivial summands is trivial, then R is Dedekind-finite. It is observed that every Artinian commutative ring R, is a finite intersection of some Artinian commutative subrings of a non-commutative ring, in each of which, R is a maximal subring. The intersection of maximal ideals of all the maximal commutative subrings in a non-commutative local ring R, is a maximal ideal in the center of R. A ring R with no nontrivial idempotents, is either a division ring or a right ue-ring (i.e., a ring with a unique proper essential right ideal) if and only if every maximal commutative subring of R is either a field or a ue-ring whose socle is the contraction of that of R. It is proved that a maximal commutative subring of a duo ue-ring with finite uniform dimension is a finite direct product of rings, all of which are fields, except possibly one, which is a local ring whose unique maximal ideal is of square zero. Analogues of Jordan-Hölder Theorem (resp., of the existence of the Loewy chain for Artinian modules) is proved for rings with acc and dcc (resp., with dcc) on commutative subrings containing the center. A semiprime ring R has only finitely many maximal commutative subrings if and only if R has a maximal commutative subring of finite index. Infinite prime rings have infinitely many maximal commutative subrings.  相似文献

We prove the modularity of certain residually reducible p-adic Galois representations of an imaginary quadratic field assuming the uniqueness of the residual representation. We obtain an R = T theorem using a new commutative algebra criterion that might be of independent interest. To apply the criterion, one needs to show that the quotient of the universal deformation ring R by its ideal of reducibility is cyclic Artinian of order no greater than the order of the congruence module T/J, where J is an Eisenstein ideal in the local Hecke algebra T. The inequality is proven by applying the Main conjecture of Iwasawa Theory for Hecke characters and using a result of Berger [Compos Math 145(3):603–632, 2009]. This strengthens our previous result [Berger and Klosin, J Inst Math Jussieu 8(4):669–692, 2009] to include the cases of an arbitrary p-adic valuation of the L-value, in particular, cases when R is not a discrete valuation ring. As a consequence we show that the Eisenstein ideal is principal and that T is a complete intersection.  相似文献

In this article, several characterizations of certain classes of rings via FC-purity and I-purity are considered. Among others results, it is shown that every I-pure injective left R-module is projective if and only if every FC-pure projective left R-module is injective, if and only if, R is a semisimple ring. In particular, the structures of FC-pure projective and I-pure projective modules over a left Artinian ring are completely described. Also, it is shown that every left R-module is FC-pure projective if and only if every indecomposable left R-module is a finitely presented cyclic R-module, if and only if, R is a left Köthe ring. Finally, we introduce FC-pure flatness and I-pure flatness of modules and several characterizations of these notions are given. In particular, we show that a commutative ring R is quasi-Frobenius if and only if R is an Artinian ring and I-pure injective, if and only if, R is an Artinian ring and the injective envelope E(R) is an FC-pure projective R-module.  相似文献

Let R be an associative ring with identity and let J(R) denote the Jacobson radical of R. R is said to be semilocal if R/J(R) is Artinian. In this paper we give necessary and sufficient conditions for the group ring RG, where G is an abelian group, to be semilocal.  相似文献

Abstract

It is proved that a ring R is a right uniserial, right Noetherian centrally essential ring if and only if R is a commutative discrete valuation domain or a left and right Artinian, left and right uniserial ring. It is also proved that there exist non-commutative uniserial Artinian centrally essential rings.  相似文献

We consider maximal left ideals L of the polynomial ring R[λ1, …, λn], for R noncommutative. In §1 we reprove and generalize Resco's result that any maximal left ideal L is generated by ≤ n elements whenever R is simple Artinian, and obtain more precise information about the generators when R satisfies a PI. In many instances, fewer than n generators suffice; this is considered in §3, by means of various examples. In §2 we see by a straightforward argument that L has bounded height as a prime left ideal whenever R is a simple Pl-ring, but this does not- hold in general for R simple Artinian.  相似文献

In an Artinian ring R every element of R can be expressed as the sum of two units if and only if R/J(R) does not contain a summand isomorphic to the field with two elements. This result is used to describe those finite rings R for which Γ(R) contains a Hamiltonian cycle where Γ(R) is the (simple) graph defined on the elements of R with an edge between vertices r and s if and only if r - s is invertible. It is also shown that for an Artinian ring R the number of connected components of the graph Γ(R) is a power of 2.   相似文献

Let R be a commutative Noetherian ring and A an Artinian R-module. We prove that if A has finite Gorenstein injective dimension, then A possesses a Gorenstein injective envelope which is special and Artinian. This, in particular, yields that over a Gorenstein ring any Artinian module possesses a Gorenstein injective envelope which is special and Artinian.  相似文献

Let R be a ring. An R-module M is finitely annihilated if the annihilator of M is the annihilator of a finite subset of M. It is proved that if R has right socle S then the ring R/S is right Artinian if and only if every singular right R-module is finitely annihilated. Moreover, a right Noetherian ring R is right Artinian if and only if every uniform right R-module is finitely annihilated. In addition, a (right and left) Noetherian ring is (right and left) Artinian if and only if every injective right R-module is finitely annihilated. In Section 1 of this note we give an example of a strongly Laskerian domain D for which the polynomial ring D[x] admits a 2-generated ideal which does not admit a primary decomposition. In Section 2 of this note we prove that if R is a quasilocal ring with M as its unique maximal ideal such that R/Ann(M) is Artinian, then for any subring T of the polynomial ring R[x], each finitely generated proper ideal of T admits a primary decomposition.  相似文献

In this paper we prove a new characterisation of hereditary PI rings, namely we show that a Noetherian, but not Artinian, PI ringR that is an order in an Artinian ring splits into a direct sum of an Artinian ring of finite representation type and hereditary semiprime rings if and only if all its proper Artinian factor rings are of finite representation type. We also show, through examples, that the above characterisation does not hold for some more general settings. Supported by the EC via TMR-Fellowship ERB4001GT63713.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative ring, let G be a finite group acting on R as automorphisms of R and let R * G be the skew group ring. By using the decomposition subgroups of G, the inertial subgroups of G, the properties of the coefficient ring R and the properties of the fixed subring R G , some necessary and sufficient conditions for R * G to be a prime Goldie ring, a semi-hereditary order in a simple Artinian ring, or a Prüfer order in a simple Artinian ring are given.  相似文献

An interesting result, obtaining by some theorems of Asano, Köthe and Warfield, states that: “for a commutative ring R, every module is a direct sum of uniform modules if and only if R is an Artinian principal ideal ring.” Moreover, it is observed that: “every ideal of a commutative ring R is a direct sum of uniform modules if and only if R is a finite direct product of uniform rings.” These results raise a natural question: “What is the structure of commutative rings whose all proper ideals are direct sums of uniform modules?” The goal of this paper is to answer this question. We prove that for a commutative ring R, every proper ideal is a direct sum of uniform modules, if and only if, R is a finite direct product of uniform rings or R is a local ring with the unique maximal ideal ? of the form ? = US, where U is a uniform module and S is a semisimple module. Furthermore, we determine the structure of commutative rings R for which every proper ideal is a direct sum of cyclic uniform modules (resp., cocyclic modules). Examples which delineate the structures are provided.  相似文献

A ringR is left co-semihereditary (strongly left co-semihereditary) if every finitely cogenerated factor of a finitely cogenerated (arbitrary) injective leftR-module is injective. A left co-semihereditary ring, which is not strongly left co-semihereditary, is given to answer a question of Miller and Tumidge in the negative. If R U S defines a Morita duality,R is proved to be left co-semihereditary (left semihereditmy) if and only ifS is right semihereditary (right co-semihereditary). Assuming thatS⩾R is an almost excellent extension,S is shown to be (strongly) right co-semihereditary if and only ifR is (strongly) right co-semihereditary. It is proved that a commutative ring is clean if and only if it is Gelfand with a totally disconnected maximal spectrum. It is shown that each indecomposable module over a commutative ring R satisfies a finite condition if and only if R P is an Artinian valuation ring for each maximal prime ideal P. Commutative rings for which each indecomposable module has a local endomorphism ring are studied. These rings are clean and elementary divisor rings. It is shown that each commutative ring R with a Hausdorff and totally disconnected maximal spectrum is local-global. Moreover, if R is arithmetic, then R is an elementary divisor ring.  相似文献
