In this paper we develop an intrinsic approach to derivation of energy decay rates for the semilinear wave equation with localized interior nonlinear   monotone damping g(ut)g(ut) and a source term  f(u)f(u). The proposed approach allows to consider, in an unified way, much more general classes of hyperbolic problems than addressed before in the literature. These generalizations refer to both geometric and topological aspects of the problem.  相似文献

In this paper we prove the existence of integrable solutions of a generalized functional-integral equation, which includes many key integral and functional equations that arise in nonlinear analysis and its applications. This is achieved by means of an improvement of a Krasnosel’skii type fixed point theorem recently proved by K. Latrach and the author. The result presented in this paper extends the corresponding result of [J. Banas, A. Chlebowicz, On existence of integrable solutions of a functional integral equation under Carathéodory condition, Nonlinear Anal. (2008) doi:10.1016/j.na.2008.04.020]. Eigenvalue intervals and the existence of finitely many positive eigenfunctions for semi-positone Hammerstein integral equations are obtained. The positive characteristic values and their upper and lower bounds of the corresponding linear Hammerstein integral operators are studied. Applications of the results are given to third-order differential equations with three-point boundary conditions.  相似文献

By using the Schauder fixed point theorem, we establish a result for the existence of solutions of a boundary value problem on the half-line to second order nonlinear delay differential equations. We also present the application of our result to the special case of second order nonlinear ordinary differential equations as well as to a specific class of second order nonlinear delay differential equations. A new version of Krasnosel’skiĭ’s fixed point theorem in cones is established for systems of operator equations, where the compression-expansion conditions are expressed on components. In this paper, we will give conditions which will guarantee the existence of positive solutions for a variety of second order boundary value problems, using the well-known Krasnoselskii fixed point theorem. We will deal with a specific differential equation meeting a specific initial condition and use a general boundary condition, involving a not necessarily linear functional. Our purpose is to pose conditions on that functional, which will guarantee that the Krasnoselskii fixed point theorem can be applied. It is important to notice that only the values of this functional on two specific functions are involved in the conditions we pose. This paper unifies the way we deal with a wide variety of boundary value problems and provides results which, to the best of our knowledge, are new.  相似文献

In this paper we prove the existence of integrable solutions for a generalized mixed type operator equation, which contains many key integral and functional equations appearing frequently in Mathematical literature. Our main tool is a Krasnosel’skii type fixed point theorem recently proved by Latrach and Taoudi, the first author. We consider the nonautonomous differential equation of second order x+a(t)xb(t)x2+c(t)x3=0, where a(t),b(t),c(t) are T-periodic functions. This is a biomathematical model of an aneurysm in the circle of Willis. The paper gives a new and natural method for the existence of multiple positive solutions for first order differential systems with non-local initial value conditions involving linear functionals. The case of higher order differential equations is also considered. A nonlinear backward heat problem for an infinite strip is considered. The problem is ill-posed in the sense that the solution (if it exists) does not depend continuously on the data. In this paper, we use the Fourier regularization method to solve the problem. Some sharp estimates of the error between the exact solution and its regularization approximation are given.  相似文献

Dynamic von Karman equations with a nonlinear boundary dissipation are considered. Questions related to long time behaviour, existence and structure of global attractors are studied. It is shown that a nonlinear boundary dissipation with a large damping parameter leads to an existence of global (compact) attractor for all weak (finite energy) solutions. This result has been known in the case of full interior dissipation, but it is new in the case when the boundary damping is the main dissipative mechanism in the system. In addition, we prove that fractal dimension of the attractor is finite. The proofs depend critically on the infinite speed of propagation associated with the von Karman model considered.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to study hybrid iterative schemes of Halpern types for a semigroup ={T(s):sS} of relatively nonexpansive mappings on a closed and convex subset C of a Banach space with respect to a sequence {μn} of asymptotically left invariant means defined on an appropriate invariant subspace of l(S). We prove that given a certain sequence {αn} in [0,1], xC, we can generate an iterative sequence {xn} which converges strongly to ΠF()x where ΠF()x is the generalized projection from C onto the fixed point set F(). By using the partial ordering method, a more general type of Ekeland's variational principle and Caristi's coincidence theorem for set-valued mappings in probabilistic metric spaces are given in this paper. We find conditions which guarantee Lρ 1 + Lρ 2 to be embedded in Lρ as a closed subspace. The problem is encountered in Statistics when estimating a bivariate distribution with known marginals.
